Romeo and Athena just went to my all-time favorites list. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I loved the absolute hell out of it. It's the story about what happens when the male whore gets a taste of something he likes a little too much. I am a sucker for stories about the player finally settling down, lol!! But this one was so unexpected because it was SUCH a different side of Romeo. Before, I couldn't see him taking anything seriously and the way he was with Athena was just endearing.
Can be read as a stand-alone.
Seriously, DO NOT MISS THIS BOOK!!!! It is fun, fast-paced, biker goodness! Such a fun read!

I COULD NOT WAIT TO READ ROMEO AND ATHENA'S STORY. IT WAS NOT EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE....IT WAS SO MUCH MORE!!!! ROMEO IS STILL THE BADASS, SEXY AS SIN GUY WE MET IN THE PREVIOUS STORIES....BUT UNDERNEATH HE IS SO MUCH MORE....THERE BEHIND THE SEXY BODY LIES A HEART!!! HE TRIES TO KEEP IT HIDDEN, UNTIL HE FINALLY GETS HIS HANDS ON ATHENA!!! PURE INNOCENT YOUNGER THAN HIM ATHENA!!! ONE TASTE FOR HIM IS NOT GONNA BE ENOUGH....TO BAD FOR HIM ATHENA THINKS SHE KNOWS HOW THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE....PLUS SHE HAS PLANS ON GOING TO L.A. TO PURSUE AND ACTING CAREER. WOW! I don't even know where to start! Romeo...he was not at all what I expected. Well, at first he was, but he turns into so much more. Athena too. I loved that she didn't take crap from him and didn't give up her dreams for him.
Vexed was the perfect title for this gem of a book!
Both characters go through an amazing growth arc for a novella length story.
I love that Phoenyx writes with the focus of the story being the sex and the relationship. She truely is an author who understands how to write EROTIC ROMANCE. Yes, there is club business and you get a good feel for what the Iron Bulls Motorcycle Club is all about, but it is the relationship and growth of the hero and heroine who drive this story. I'm amazed at how well this author can write deeply emotional scenes as well as the decadently dirty ones!
There's a botched blowjob scene in here that made me laugh until I had tears running down my cheeks and then there's another one towards the end that made me cry tears for a different reason. So beautifully written.
Vexed is so vastly different from the first three books. Romeo and Athena have a completely different dynamic than Dante and Karina. But at the core of both relationships is respect. No matter how dirty and crude the men can be, they respect who their women are and what they are capable of achieving. Yes, they may take charge in the bedroom, but when it comes to what's best for their women outside the bedroom, the Iron Bulls men always do the right thing. Dante with supporting Karina's medical career and getting to know her sister. Romeo with supporting Athena's ambitions. That totally surprised me. I expected the author to come up with some lame compromise that wold have robbed Athena of her dreams, but she didn't! Romeo stepped up and supported his girl in the sweetest ways possible. I think that's what I love about this series the most! You're doing the author a disservice if you write this series off as mere "biker porn."
I also enjoy this series because while it's dirty, the men NEVER stray from their women. Once Dante and Karina are together, they're TOGETHER. Dante never looks at another woman. There's no artificial clubwhore drama. Same for Romeo and Athena, after their first night, he knows she's it for him. The author doesn't manufacture conflict with clubwhore nonsense like a lot of MC authors do and I appreciate that. While it works for some authors, it also gets boring. These are true alpha heroes who don't need to cheat to prove they are real men.
I can't recommend Phoenyx Slaughter or the Iron Bulls series enough. Love it!

I am loving the Iron Bulls MC books with their hot ass bikers, dirty mouths and off the charts sexy scenes and Vexed did not disappoint! This is Athena and Romeo's story and if you like a bit of taboo in your story with the whole older guy / younger girl theme then you'll love this book! Romeo just happens to be the President of the Iron Bulls MC and is a total bad ass and Athena is a spitfire who just graduated high school and together you get a crazy love story that runs hot and heavy. If you read the previous books in this series and came to the conclusion that Romeo is a rude disgusting pig well let's just say that the author definitely throws you for a loop on that one - LOL! I also liked that this story was so much different than the previous stories (Karina and Dante's). I often find that series books have a theme when it comes to their couples and often become predictable but with Athena and Romeo's story (other than the age thing), I found their relationship totally different and fresh and was nothing like that of Dante and Karina's. Phoenyx Slaughter can fricken' write and always gives you a great story that's well written with the perfect amount of "dirty" that leaves you wanting more!

I did not expect Romeo to be so...sweet, caring and perfect, yet still such a badass! Loved how he showed us not only his MC presidential side but his loving and soft side with Athena.
Athena! I loved her! She's so smart, sassy, sweet, and clueless! I love how she's determined to reach her goals and won't let a man stand in her way. When she realizes she's not prepared for the career she wants, she takes a step back and regroups. I don't think I've ever read another heroine like her. I really loved her willingness to admit failure and desire to try again.
The way the two of them come together with mutual love and respect, was beautiful! I liked that when both characters made a mistake, they owned up to it and tried to fix it. Very refreshing!
This is a fantastic series that just keeps getting better with each book.

I have not read any of the other books in this series and I can honestly say that I didn't feel lost and that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Do I want to go back and read the others um... is that a trick question? Heck yes I do!!! If they are anything like this book than count me in. I loved this book. It was off the charts HOT. I loved Athena and Romeo. There were times that I wanted to smack them upside the head and smack some sense into them but oh my god when those two are together it will have you jumping your husband/boyfriend/BOB. I'm telling you, the chemistry between the two and the things they do... yeah be prepared for needing some attention. Ok, enough about that. This book not only had that but it had some angst and a bit of suspense as well. I really think that you will enjoy this book as well. I look forward to reading more by Phoenyx.

If you read my reviews of the Iron Bulls MC stories, then you pick up real quick I have a ridiculous love for Dante, Sargent-at-Arms of the Iron Bulls. Well, Romeo just took a huge chunk of that love for himself and Athena took another!
Let me start by explaining a little about Athena. The girl is young. Young in age and young in experience, but not so young she doesn't have a clear view of what she does and doesn't want out of life. An acting career is one and Romeo is another. She's known for quite some time that she was going to California right after graduation to pursue her dream. Nothing was stopping her from her dream. And so she planned it. She saved the money. She set up living arrangements. She was ready for this. And then she met Romeo ... *sigh* and her girlie parts started singing :) lol From the moment she set eyes on the Iron Bull's President, she was a goner. But like I mentioned earlier, she may have been young in age and experience, but she was far from stupid. She knew if she ever got a chance to be with Romeo it would be a very fleeting thing, but she didn't care. He set her on fire from the inside out with just a look. He was powerful and enigmatic and she couldn't wait to get a taste of him ...
Reed “Romeo” Crownover is the President of the Iron Bulls MC. The man has no problem keeping his bed warm at night. He's self-assured bordering on arrogant and to the world he's nothing less than an asshole. He knows what he wants and he goes after it. He doesn't play games and he always gets what he wants. Until Athena .... Athena turns him inside out. From the moment he laid eyes on her he knew he had to have her. What he wasn't counting on was having his world turned upside down. He's a one and done man. As President, he can't afford to feel and he sure as hell can't afford to lose control. But Athena makes him question everything he's ever known ....
The story of Athena and Romeo is a very sexually charged story. It is the sexual aspect of their relationship that drives their journey. As in all Phoenyx Slaughter books, it is the sexual nature of all her characters that is the driving force behind her stories. What she writes is sexual in nature and it pushes the boundaries. To put it simply, the journeys in her books are all about the sex. And she does it flawlessly! There is sex at every turn but it is woven into the story/relationship in a way where it belongs. Any other way and the story would be wrong.
There's going to be a lot of you that will want to scream at both Athena and Romeo for things that happen in the book. But you should always keep in mind that everything happens for a reason and no relationship is ever rainbows and gumdrops. Decisions and choices by both Romeo and Athena are made in this story that will shock you and maybe leave a bad taste in your mouth. But they HAD to happen. Pay real close attention to who Athena is and where she comes from and do the same for Romeo. It will not take away the shock, but it will allow you to empathize with them and understand them and their choices.
I cannot sing my praises high enough for not only Vexed, but the entire Iron Bulls MC series. It's a growing series. Every character continues to grow as the stories unfold. Romeo and Athena's journey is far from over. It's only just begun. This is not a cliffhanger book, but it also does not wrap up like a present. Because what in life really does? This is a HFN with a beautiful bright future ahead. Phoenyx has outdone herself once again!

Vexed by Phoenyx Slaughter is the fourth novella in the Iron Bulls MC series. Although the main characters, Romeo and Athena, make brief appearances in the first three books they are the focus of this book. Vexed can be read as a stand-alone and it does not end on a cliffhanger. This MC is a little on the dirtier side but the focus of the book is all about the relationship between the club Prez and his woman. I liked that there isn’t anything too dark and the characters are both strong in their own ways. It’s a fun, short read that is definitely worth it. I received an ARC in exchange for an HONEST review.

So damn hot!
Wow! Romeo surprised me. So did Athena actually. Even though the age difference is similar to Dante and Karina, Vexed is nothing like the first three books in the series. Romeo and Athena have a completely different relationship. Don't get me wrong, Romeo is still take charge and demanding in the bedroom, but Athena also doesn't let him get away with any crap. Romeo loves her smart mouth.
Very unique MC Romance storyline. I really enjoyed it. Some loose ends from previous books were tied up as well, which was interesting.
Although I'm a huge fan of the series, I have to say, this could easily be read as a stand alone. But why would you deprive yourself of all the filthy goodness that is the Iron Bulls MC?

Vexed by Phoenyx Slaughter is a fun, sexy, and gritty biker romance. Romeo is all man. He makes no apologies for being an alpha. Yeah I love me some Romeo….le sigh. I know this is part of a series but I didn’t feel like I missed out by not reading the others. I finished it in one sitting! It really is one of those guilty pleasure reads. I plan on reading the others in this series. I really enjoyed this book and so will you! I give this 5 stars.

I love this series a lot it is one of my favorite MC series out there. I loved Romeo and Athena and their story. We met these two in the previous books but it was about time they got their story. I also enjoyed reading these two characters they grow on you and see how they changed through out the book. It was also good to see Dante and Karina as well. Athena is just fresh out of high school and she is wanting to hook up with Romeo. Romeo is the Prez of Iron Bulls MC and he wants a little piece of Athena. Things pick up with these two and the sex is also hot. Looking forward to more of the Iron Bulls MC in the future love these books.

I was so excited to read Romeo's story and I was not disappointed. Romeo, President of the MC, always had a way about him, I wanted to know his story. When Romeo met Athena, the attraction was instant but was it enough? He never dreamed he would fall for her. Are they too different to make it work? I am a big fan of Romeo and Athena because everyone deserves a HEA!

I have read all of the books in the series and I have to say Vexed is my favorite! As much as I adore Dante, I must admit I am in love with Romeo. The chemistry between Athena and Romeo was combustible, over the top hot!! I loved seeing Romeo's softer side when it came to Athena. I hope this isn't the last we hear about the couple. I absolutely loved this story!! Another 5 star read from the talented Phoenyx Slaughter! I can't wait for more books from the Iron Bulls MC!

We first meet Romeo and Athena in Asunder (Iron Bulls MC #1) and throughout the series we get glimpses at their forbidden attraction (Athena's underage at the time).
Finally, after waiting for months we get their story and it didn't disappoint at all!
Their connection was vexed from the start.
Oh em gee! This book was insanely hot! Athena finally turns 18 and she loses her virginity to Romeo, President of Iron Bulls MC. The blurb pretty much gives away what the story is about. She has dreams about going to L.A. and becoming an actress but he doesn't want her to leave once he's had a taste. I don't want to spoil it for you but I highly recommend you read the first three books in the series.

We get some questions answered about some of the drama going on that involves Dante and Karina (Iron Bulls MC #1-3) which I'm glad. We also get to see them being all cute and touchy. Gah I love Daddy Dante and now Romeo is added to the list too.
"I already like you. You got me thinking things I've never considered before. Giving me that p***y first might complicate things. You understand me?"
"No."
"It means, I'm not letting you go. You're in my bed from now on."

We first meet Romeo and Athena in Asunder (Iron Bulls MC #1) and throughout the series we get glimpses at their forbidden attraction (Athena's underage at the time).
Finally, after waiting for months we get their story and it didn't disappoint at all!
Their connection was vexed from the start.
Oh em gee! This book was insanely hot! Athena finally turns 18 and she loses her virginity to Romeo, President of Iron Bulls MC. The blurb pretty much gives away what the story is about. She has dreams about going to L.A. and becoming an actress but he doesn't want her to leave once he's had a taste. I don't want to spoil it for you but I highly recommend you read the first three books in the series.

We get some questions answered about some of the drama going on that involves Dante and Karina (Iron Bulls MC #1-3) which I'm glad. We also get to see them being all cute and touchy. Gah I love Daddy Dante and now Romeo is added to the list too.

Another fantastic book by Phoenyx Slaughter that I couldn't put down! I can never get enough of the Iron Bulls MC. Can't wait to see more of Romeo and Athena and Dante and Karina.
Even though Athena leaving the ways she does makes Romeo mad he still goes to her rescue. It's takes some clever thinking from Dante to get Romeo to get he sh*t together.
There is never a dull moment in the Iron Bull MC.

Vexed by Phoenyx Slaughter is book four in the Iron Bulls MC series. It focuses on the President of the Iron Bulls MC, Reed "Romeo" Crownover, and Athena Vale.
Attracted to each other, once she turns eighteen after graduating high school, Reed and Athena let passion take over one night. What was supposed to be one night turns into more than either expected. These two lovers are hot, passionate and very much care for the other. The scenes between them are scorching. You can't help but fall for these two. However, not everything is smooth sailing as insecurity and miscommunication cause drama for the two lovers.
Overall, Vexed is an absolute fun and quick read that you'll very much enjoy. This is my first novel by this author, and I am happy to say it definitely won't be my last.

I absolutely LOVED that Athena knocked Romeo for a loop. He didn't see her coming and couldn't get her out of his head. I so love when that happens. It really is kind of a insta-love thing between them and I couldn't get enough of it. Now they definitely have some bumps along the way with Athena not really understanding how he feels about her as his world is really new to her. Romeo wasn't letting go of her though. They are scorching hot together and I hated hitting the last page of their story. I wanted more. I can't wait to read more of this series.

Loved Romeo in Vexed, this Alpha Male President of the MC sought and he took but when Athena left he couldn't show his true feelings, but even this hard man and President of an MC can get hurt feelings.
Romeo: There hasn't been a whole lot of forgiveness in my world but for her I'll make an exception.
Athena is what you would expect her to be she's an 18 year old girl and immature and has yet to experience a lot of things so her character was no surprise.
Romeo who is a lot older than her is ready to settle down and you are drawn to like him and want that for him.
A fast paced read, lots of Hot moments MC style, told in dual povs it's everything an MC read should be. Focusing on Romeo and Athena's relationship with snippets of Karina and Dante and other members that have been in previous books.
Previous books focused more on the drama's of the characters and this focused more on the relationship. I love both there's nothing wrong with a bit of drama and excitement but due to this finishing off without leaving you high and dry with a drama issue or cliffhanger made me enjoy it more.
So there's no cliffhanger but promise of more to come as the relationship is in the early stages and it leaves you looking forward to more from Phoenyx Slaughter in the Iron Bulls series.

One of the things that carried the previous books was the insanely hot sex scenes. While Romeo and Athena had chemistry, the club president just doesn't hold a candle to Dante and his insane dominance. Athena is naive and makes decisions a normal 18 year old would make, running off with stars in her eyes and a head full of delusions of grandeur. Naivety reached TSTL for me when we learned she found her roommate on Craig's list and was going in site unseen...in LA. This sets off a domino effect of horrible things that, of course, means Romeo will have to save her, hence the plot outside of the sex. It was all a little too contrived for me, unrealistic in its remarkable fortuity. Still, as I had in the previous novels, I probably would have forgiven a lot more if the sex had been hotter. Instead, it felt awkward, and Romeo constantly asking if she was okay stripped him of the dominance I expected to find and turned him into a teddy bear. Sadly, the best scene was the angry, hate-filled one, and he was racked with guilt about it.

Romeo & Athena, Loved them, they are sizzling
Whilst Romeo has made appearances in Dante & Karina Story (Asunder), He comes across as arrogant. But we see glimpses of attraction between Romeo & Athena, whilst nothing can happen as she is underage. The forbidden romance is juicy and exciting.
When we finally get Athena and Romeo story, she is fresh from graduation and ready to take on L.A. But an unlikely night with Romeo turns into so much more. In Vexed you see a softer side to Romeo that most wouldn't think was there. At times Athena immaturity was frustrating, but she is only 18 so that is to be expected. Phoenyx Slaughter characters seem to take on a life of their own. They are intriguing and leave you wanting more.
The chemistry is hot & sizzling, the emotions are surprisingly tender.
The quick, steamy and at times sweet read is very enjoyable. Highly recommend this story.

Having absolutely loved the first three books in this series I've been looking forward Romeo and Athena's.
Romeo is the president of the Iron Bulls MC and from the first moment he laid eyes on Athena he can't get her out of his mind, he's twice her age and shouldn't even be looking at her but he just can't help himself.
Athena is now eighteen and heading to LA and the future she's dreamed about but first she has to see Romeo, she wants him to be her first.
Romeo thought one night would be enough but he was wrong he'll never have enough of her.
Athena thought one night and they'd be done after all it's not as if he's short of women they're all over the club.
I really enjoyed this read, I love the characters and can't wait for 'Unhinged' Kadence's story.

After I read Vexed, Phoenyx wrote a little note about her heroine and why Athena was written how she was and even though I respect that and understand it I did not like her.
This was my least favorite of the series. Maybe it was because I had higher expectation seeing as this was Romeo's book and Romeo was such a dick! I couldn't wait!
Ok, Athena is Karina's friend, I personally never liked her in the pervious books and this was no different. She was supposed to come off sassy and strong but I found her immature and annoying. She was more like a 16 year old than an 18 year old.
Athena's been flirting with Romeo with sex innuendos every time they meet and finally on her 18th birthday she's allowed into the club house to act on them. Romeo approaches her and they end up having sex for a weekend. She leaves him while he's sleeping with a thank you note.
Romeo is pissed and in a bad mood for a month, hating how Athena just up and left without letting him know.
She runs to LA to be an actress things don't go well for her some MC nomad dude kidnaps her and Romeo comes to the rescue. He brings her back they have sex again and he tells her he loves her. What! Did I miss something?
Anyway, there together for now but she still lives in LA because he's now on a tv show.
Now, Karina's sister. Holy shit that book sounds good! Hope it releases soon.

This book isn't nearly as good as the first three. I feel like the author just isn't sure about Athena and trying to write Romeo fall for her seems forced and unrealistic.
The most true statement in this book is when Romeo thinks "I'm no longer concerned that I'm too old for her. I think it's clear that she is too young for me". No sh!t.
This book isn't as hot, doesn't have as likable characters and I'm annoyed that this is what we got instead of more Karina and Dante. What's worse is that it doesn't look like the author has written anything since 2017 so maybe these last two books (not focused on Dante and Karina) are the last ones. Bummer if that is the case. Based on her facebook page, maybe Phoenyx Slaughter is a Pseud for Autumn Lake Jones. Just a thought.

You will be taken for quite the ride with Vexed, this is my first read in the series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I definitely have plans to catch up. There is no cliffhanger, although I feel like there could be more in the future for these two.

Love this series so much. They are always so much fun to read and manage to walk the line between being violent, sweet, dirty, sexy, filthy and romantic perfectly. I loved Romeo and Athena together. Their story is very different from Karina and Dante's and even though you know they will end up together there were a lot of surprises along the way, including a really awful moment between the two in bed that was so real my heart broke a little.
That being said this book had some of the best lines I've read in a while. These are just 3 of my favourites that go from being hilarious to really damn sweet.

This was a new to me author. I'm so glad I gave it a chance, It was so worth it! I will be going back and reading the rest of the series, and any that follow. While Athena was very naive and made several mistakes, that's common for 18 year old girls. Reed/Romeo oh Romeo, he is very stubborn, but when he finally lets his walls down and his anger and hurt with Athena go, wow they are explosive together. I like how we are left with a ending that could always mean more to the story.
