In this historical romance, the half-sister of Elizabeth I finds love, marriage, and plenty of danger in the royal court.
Henrietta Raemon, illegitimate daughter of Henry VIII, longs to go to court to be closer to her half-sister, the queen. The last thing on fiercely independent Etta's mind is marriage--until newly ennobled merchant Baron Somerville leaves her no choice!
But the attractions of court turn perilous when Etta's resemblance to Elizabeth makes her some powerful enemies. Her husband is there to protect her, if only Etta can conquer her pride . . . and surrender.
As the author of books on embroidery design, the progression in 1994 from fact to fiction was perhaps less daunting for Juliet than it might have been for a complete beginner. But in many ways, the requirements are similar: a strong imagination and sense of design; an eye for detail; a love of color, scenery, and research; and a willingness to share inner thoughts and feelings with readers. Dedication is also useful to Juliet, living in the country, as the temptation to spend time picnicking and sightseeing instead of writing is sometimes very strong.
Henrietta Reamon desperately wants to have a personal connection with her half-sister Queen Elizabeth I. The Queen is the only family member, that is a blood relation, that is left for Henrietta. Forging a relationship with her half-sister is a must which Henrietta has to achieve as soon as possible. It is the most important relationship to her, which she thinks will make her feel truly fulfilled. Being at the right age to marry, her stepparents have been trying hard to get Henrietta to wed. Dismissing all the suitors that have come her way, her stepparents now have to insist Henrietta marry the next man they choose for her. Baron Somerville her future husband could help get Henrietta closer to Queen Elizabeth faster. It does not work out the way Henrietta thought it would though.
Henrietta is young, very naive, selfish, totally stubborn and has a one-track mind to get what she wants. Exactly what her Tudor family is known for. Somerville is extremely patient with Henrietta, kind, generous and thoughtful. She is lucky to be married to him. I enjoyed reading about the Tudor fashions and life at the Tudor court. If you don't, you might find those boring parts. The passion between them was loving, tender and hot.

I finished the book because I had to (professional reasons). I appriciate the author's effort, I really do, unfortunately, there is nothing that I liked about this novel. The heroine is a naive/stupid spoilt brat. She irritated me to no end. I wanted to slap her whenever she was around, which was all the time. I can't understand what her poor husband saw in her in the firtst place, apart from her good looks that is. The story line is weak and the whole thing drags and drags forver. It's probably one of the most boring romance novels I've ever read, and I've read quite a lot of them.
