#33- Tobias books are never my favorite, but I did enjoy this more than I anticipated. The whole torture thing and continued examination of Tobias's strain between human and creature were both very engaging, and the action exciting as ever. However, Applegate stumbles into her common mistake of making her villains over the top and borederline cringy, and the romance felt fumbled, almost forced. We're not even going to begin to talk about the Elfangor thing. Overall, weird, in both good and bad ways. 7.5/10
#34: Definitely didn't dislike it as much as I was expecting, but it definitely wasn't my favorite. It was well written and explored some really interesting themes, but while Cassie's stories are all interesting, they're starting to follow the same pattern. And sometimes the alien stuff can go a little too hard for me. Overall, it definitely wasn't bad, just not my thing so much. 7.5/10
#35: Applegate never fails to deliver some amazing commentary and examination on the psychological affects of war, but this is an absolutely excellent focus on mental health in particular. It's not just related to the war, and that's what makes it even better. People are allowed to have problems that seem arbitrary, and often, mental health is weird and unpredictable. And there's a lot of ways of approaching it, and the advice that works for some might not for others. As far as plot, it was engaing and funny, balancing very well with the thematic stuff itself. Classic, good Animorphs antics. 9/10
#36: This is not to imply that the prose of Animorphs is usually bad, but the writing itself in this is truly amazing. Jake's first killer whale morph is one passage, probably of many books, that stood out to me the most. It was also weird, and though there are many types of weird/creepy in the series, this was an AWESOME type-- hard HP Lovecraft vibes, not gonna lie. Also, definitely felt some Goonies in there? Excellent. 8.5/10
