It’s Never Too Late will turn back the pages of their lives to reveal the truth behind their bitter personalities that masked their lives that is plagued with pain that’s buried beneath a shallow grave of love and happiness, and glimpse of humor that reaches up and tickles the tummy. Someone once said write what you love to read. So, I asked myself, “What do you love reading?”

As a fan of fast pace stories, I don’t want to get bored while waiting for a story to build up. I need a story that can keep me entertained until that climax arrives. If I can figure out the ending before the story ends, I’m easily turned off. The dialogue must be unpredictable, an intriguing story that satisfies my urge to continue.

I love that feeling of realizing exactly when the character falls in love. Writings like that is an art of beauty. And when I hate the villains who have scarred my favorite character with pain, I know then that the story has me in its grips.

These characteristics make up a great story. It’s what I write to engage the emotions of my readers. Narratives that give them permission to loath my characters. I want them to laugh so loud, that others around them will question the reason why.

My stories are suspenseful and powered by thought-triggering dialogues because I want to leave my readers’ imagination lingering on what they’ve read long past the pages of my books.

The grammar and in this book was atrocious and many words were used incorrectly, substituted for words that sound similar. Several words or phrases were used repetitively to the point they became annoying. There were parts of this book that were skimmed over or not addressed that I really wanted to know more about, and others that I didn't enjoy that were address for a long time. All in all, I think the author is a good story teller, but not a good story writer. This is the only book I read, and it is possible that the final story is better - I may have been reading a pre-production copy.

Sometimes living on earth can feel like being in hell. It all depends on the kind of life you’re living. As fraternal twin sisters, Gloria and Sadie’s life was hard from a very early age. Their sisterly love carries them into adulthood and helps them navigate the harrowing hardships they face from their past and their romantic relationships.

However, their different personalities and outlook on life comes through. Gloria is strong. Sadie is fragile. The sisters are inseparable until Gloria moves away to start a new life in a new marriage leaving Sadie behind. As Gloria settles in with her new husband, she never forgets her sister. When her relationship turns deadly, Gloria goes back to the only person she knows will accept her unconditionally. Their story will warm your heart. It makes me want to hug my sisters tightly. I will never drink lemonade and not think about Gloria and Sadie. I’d love to see this on stage. I recommend this book.

Things I liked about this book:
The cover photo.
The basic story was very compelling. I wanted to stay with the book and find out what happened to the sisters. I felt eager to get back to reading the book each evening.
However--this book desperately needs to be edited and reworked. The grammar is bad enough to interfere with the reader's ability to enjoy the book. Also, things the reader gets from context, such as emotional responses, are belabored for more than a page. I felt like the author didn't trust my ability to understand the story. In addition, the story depends on the reader's acceptance of a close bond between the sisters. Unfortunately, that bond is not satisfactorily developed in the book. Finally, I would suggest the author add some redeeming positive stories to the narrative. After a whole book of struggles, I desperately wanted a happy ending.

"Drinking Lemonade in Hell: The Story of Gloria & Sadie" by C. Yvette Spencer, is a thrilling drama. From the very beginning, it is a fast-paced rush of action.

Gloria and Sadie are fraternal twins who grow up in the South during World War II. They combat and survive, always together, always rooting for each other. Victimized by incest, physical abuse, domestic violence, and more traumas, the sisters fall and rise together. Even when illness and unexpected death affects the family, they trudge on, choosing to follow their mother's advice of taking the sweet with the sour. Even when life was a living hell.

Every terrible thing imaginable in life was experienced by these two bonded sisters. Their relationship becomes more like mother and daughter as they face their challenges differently.

Christian themes run throughout the book, cementing the characters' outlooks and oppositional personalities.

Told in first person from Gloria's point of view, the dialogue is personable, natural, and effectively adds dimension to the characters. The non-stop action, mystery, mayhem, and suspense make this incredible story a quick read.

This book was chosen along with another short book for our October book club meeting. It was a hard read for me, especially the entire 6th chapter. The writing was very choppy and didn't flow at all for me. Oh, there's a lot of repetitiveness in expressions too.
