Rebeka Taft is a young scientist who has begun working on a top secret scientific project for the Yuropian Government called Project Code-X. However, Rebeka soon finds out that all is not quite as it seems at the project. She also discovers that there is a lot more to her boss - the charming and charismatic leader of Project Code-X - than meets the eye.
Against a background of global upheaval and the beginnings of World War 3, Rebeka starts to become increasingly disillusioned by her research work for the Yuropian Government and more concerned about her own family's personal safety. Yet, the more Rebeka struggles to break free from the spider's web that is Project Code-X, the more entangled in the project she becomes.
Can the choices of a single individual, who goes against the grain of the current world system, make a difference to the collision course the world is on? Or is all resistance futile?
Alpha is the Beginning is the original first book of the PROJECT CODE-X TRILOGY. It precedes Beta to Psi and it tells the story of how Rebeka initially gets involved in the mysterious Project Code-X. It is here that she meets the Junior Governor - the villain, but nevertheless appealling leader of Project Code-X - for the first time and finds out they both share a common love of science. Captivated by her research and increasingly isolated from her family, Rebeka can't help but be drawn deeper into the secrets of Project Code-X, that is until the horrific discovery causes her to question her entire involvement in the project. What is Rebeka prepared to give up for the sake of her family? And what does that mean for the rest of the Nation of Yuropia?
Rebeka Taft is a scientist who was recruited to work on a project that would revolutionize healthcare on a global scale. It is called PROJECT CODE-X. She is happy to blindly work on the project until she learns that it would be used to reprogram people’s minds to make them happier, healthier and more productive people. When she finds out that it will be implanted into the children, her conscience kicks in and leaves Rebeka with questions that make her feel trapped.
In some regards, this reminded me of the "Hunger Games." People were forced to watch what would become of their children according to the talents that they possessed and what group they chose to join. It was similar to these children. The ones who had a record of high academic achievements and good physical abilities were chosen for the future.
While reading this book, the thought that it could become a possibility in the near future seems plausible. I have heard about micro-chipping and watched movies where the government wanted to take over civilization.
This is a fantastic Sci-Fi story! There were many specifics and so much detail given, that it seems anyone could take this information and make it a reality. If you like Star Trek, Star Wars, Allegiant, Divergent, The Maze Runner or Inception, then this novel will blow you away!
