He has rules… But rules are meant to be broken.
Jesse “Colorado” Collins. He’s the hottest quarterback in the NFL, but I don’t care about any of that. We have a past together… A history I’ve been running from for a long time…
And I have a secret I must keep, no matter the cost.
An accident nearly ended his career, but I’m the best physical therapist in the state. All I have to do is nurse him back to health and I never have to see him again.
I’m a grown woman, and I don’t need this man… No matter how irresistibly sexy he's become… No matter how much my body betrays me…
But he’s not the kind of man who takes no for an answer.
And I’m totally screwed

One word describes why I didn't rate this book higher MAISIE. Ugh she was so annoying with her lies and hot and cold behavior. Even though Jesse and she were both young when she got pregnant, she never even gave him a chance to have a say in what they should do about the pregnancy. It was all about what she thought was best for everyone, can we say SELFISH!! Then she tried to spin it like she would have ruined his career, I call BS. She kept Maddie a secret because she was selfish and wanted someone in her life to love her unconditionally. Then when she does encounter the grown up Jesse again she continues to hide the truth about their daughter. Did she not think that there would come a time that she would need to come clean with her daughter and Jesse. I didn't like how the book just ended all wrapped up with a bow so easily. She got off way too easy in my book, I wanted to see her suffer a little but that's just me.

First off, the author didn't know if she wanted to call them the Denver Broncos, or the Denver Mustangs. That was REALLY annoying, and sometimes would flip flop within the same page.

Also, I grew up in Colorado. So at first I was like "yay, set in Colorado" then I was like "this person has only looked at Colorado on a map. Sigh."
Like does she know that Fort Collins is only like an hour away from Denver? And that Greenwood Village is the Tech Center. Not really the "raise your family here" center? Yeah it's bordered by the the good school districts, but I wouldn't have necessarily chosen Greenwood... certainly wouldn't have claimed it as "the best schools in the state" But whatever. Not a bad area I will grant her that, but eh.

Okay, Maisey annoyed me.
I really wanted to scream at her to get off the effing cross. Seriously she was such a martyr. And contradictory. One page she's saying "the conversation about Maddy's father never came up" then the next page (literally), she says "her questions about her father kept getting more detailed.". As well as "I never go out. I never date. Getting a babysitter is hard because I have no one other than Eddie." (paraphrasing), but then she was apparently always going out to Eddie's shows... without Maddy obviously... so who was babysitting? And isn't going out to a drag show... GOING OUT?

So that bothered me.

Jesse. For once I didn't really get on with the Hero. He was spoiled. Arrogant. And on the page very shallow. But he annoyed me less than Maisey

Oh also... so Maddy is supposed to have really bad Asthma right? But when Maisey's house was literally filled to the brim with the contents of 4 Flower Shops... there was absolutely no concern about Maddy's ability to breathe amongst what would be an exceedingly cloying smell of flowers. Nor was there any concern immediately after when a kitten was gifted to them.... when they never had a pet before, and no possible knowledge about whether or not it would cause a reaction. I'm sorry, but any parent who was dealing with such a bad respiratory illness (without knowing the root triggers) that routinely HOSPITALIZES their child would immediately have been on guard about both the cat and the flowers. So that really bothered me.

However saying that, I didn't feel like DNF'ing the book, so I guess it wasn't too bad.

Not bad, not good, meh

It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. I expected more from the description. There were TONS of errors that were much too distracting as well. Overall it was meh

Running Game is a standalone book with a happily ever after ending by Nikki Wild. This book had a solid storyline that had my attention from beginning to end. Loved the second chance romance spin with a secret baby thrown in. The characters had depth and lost of small kin hot chemistry. Great book that I would recommend.

Running Game is a second chance romance, that starts in the Prologue with Maisey Jayne packing one small, pink backpack with all she owns, and planning to run as far she can from her present life. Her life in the crumbling town of Ault, Colorado, in foster care, was rather tragic. Clyde had been her foster father for the last twelve years. She had just turned 6 years old when Clyde and his wife Claire had taken her in, but Claire had succumbed to breast cancer just three years after she had arrived. Clyde descended into a dark circle of booze and depression and never did recover, leaving Maisey to raise herself. Now she was 18, and leaving, but not even waiting to attend prom that very night, or stick around for graduation ceremonies. She left Clyde a note and a sandwich, and left never looking back.

Fast forward 10 years. Jesse “Colorado” Collins had been the starting quarterback for the Denver Mustangs for five years. He also graduated from Highland High's class of 2005, and had lived in the crumbling town of Ault, Colorado. He also had been the surprising prom date of Maisey Jayne, who had stood him up. He had planned his life since then perfectly and so far it had played out according to his very well-thought out plans. He wasn't about to let anything or anyone upset all of that. Once in a while, he did wonder what ever happened to Maisey Jayne, but no one seemed to know.

Fate doesn't always care if you map out your life. Jesse was taking his routine morning run that he made sure to get in every single day before breakfast. He was running and counting all his blessings – when he rounded the corner. He had the right of way and as he crossed the street and bounded into the crosswalk, when he was plowed into by a teenager, who had flew through the light while talking on his cell phone. He felt his knee explode with the impact, and he tumbled up and over the car, smashing the windshield on his journey before bouncing off the roof and making a swan dive straight into the asphalt.

Maisey had worked hard and had met a beneficiary friend named Daisy. She now was a Doctor of Physical Therapy. She was thoroughly enjoying her job at the Steadman Hawkins clinic helping elite athletes return to their full potential after suffering from injuries. She was enjoying her job until her boss told her who her next patient would be, and he would be none other then Jesse. Maisey had secrets, and the last person she wanted to share them with was Jesse.

I really liked this story and it had lots of twist and turns.

This was a sweet story about second chances and having the patience to let life develop in it's own time. If Maisey had not left when she did then Jesse may not of had the chance to put things in place to save the most precious thing in their lives. Jesse and Maisey never forgot their special connection even after a decade. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Masiey and Jesse "Colorado" Collins knew each other when they were 18 and getting ready for new things. Jesse was going to be a star quarterback in the NFL and Maisey just wanted out of Ault, Colorado after living with her foster parents. Now 10 years later and they are reunited in a way Maisey never expected. Both living in Denver Maisey is a Physical Therapist on her way to being a doctor of PT while Jesse is the playboy quarterback for the Denver Broncos who thanks to being hit by an inattentive driver now has to rehab his left knee. Enter Maisey to help with his PT, but a lot more than that has happened in the last 10 years, least of all Maisey is a mom to Maddy. While they fall for each other all over again, Masiey is keeping a big secret from Jesse thinking all this is just a fling and he will leave as soon as he is healed. When the truth comes out they all have to find their way back to each other as well as help a sick Maddy get better. A great read from Nikki Wild. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another amazing book from Nikki Wild. In this book we meet Maisey a women who ran away from home when she was 18 and is now a physical therapist 10 years later. She is getting a chance of a lifetime when she gets to treat the sexiest quarterback (Jesse Collins) in the NFL. As luck would have it these two have history both from the same small town. Jesse wants to know what happened 10 years ago when Maisey ran away from home. She won't budge and he won't give up until he has all his questions answered along with a second chance at romance. Small towns have secrets and Maisey is carrying a big one. Will Maisey's luck run out and her secret will be revealed? Can Jesse and Maisey make their second chance work? I loved the characters and how the story played out. This was a fun and sexy short read. If you love sports and second chance romance, I would recommend this hands down. I can't wait to read more from Nikki Wild. **received an arc in exchange for an honest review**

Love and setting wrongs right...

Human trafficking is beyond repugnant and this story brings it up and in your face. Ms. Wild brings the horror of loss, greed and looking the other way to make a dollar so real that I got chills turning page after page. But and this is a huge but this story is foremost a beautiful romance offering a man and woman a second chance for the golden ring by offering love and forgiveness. The horror aside, the rich emotions and scorching chemistry kept me coming back for more.

It has many redeeming qualities. The characters were likable at best neutral at worst. The writing was much better than expected. I developed an interest that withstood to the end. The plot was nice, somewhat original or had its own unique flair. The writing was good, and the pretense wasn’t half bad, the romance was simmering with few exceptions. The male/female lead showed hints of abuse both verbal and/or physical or signs of spot-on or forced chemistry. It was a tiny bit predictable. Overall, liked it enough, entertaining.

An average "oops-I had a baby and didn't tell you"-romance. The motivation of both MCs were weak, especially Maiseys. She was selfish and egocentric when she should have made contact long ago to do the best for the people she said she loved.

And what was up with the bodyguard? He had no purpose besides standing outside the door 24/7!
