Once Should Be Enough by Nikky Kaye

description

The first day Will met Cassie, as college lab partners, he accidentally friend-zoned himself. While he regrets that he can't fuck his totally sexy, definitely fuckable BFF, what he doesn't regret the deep friendship he and Cassie have formed over lab assignments, homework, and study time.

Until the day Cassie confides in Will—admitting she's never finished before, and her theory behind why:

“I think I hate sex.”

Will can't believe it—refuses to accept that her theory is true. After all, no one, especially someone as hot as Cassie, can hate sex ... right?

Determined to prove her wrong, and to finally step out of the friend-zone, Will makes Cassie a deal: If he can't make her oh so hard she forgets ever thinking she was frigid, she can say "I told you so" for as long as she likes.

“And how do you propose we prove my theory?” Those rosy lips suddenly pressed together as she must have figured it out.
“Oh,” she said. “Oh.
I couldn’t help smirking. “Yeah, oh. I’ll give you one.”

Once Should Be Enough was a very fun, enjoyable read. Though, while I know this is a novella, I couldn't help but wish there had been a bit more development in the storyline, plot, and some of the characterization—just a bit more to the book, so I could fully understand why Cassie felt and thought the way she did about sex, which was what drove the plot. Having said that, I think Nikky Kaye writes well, and I look forward to reading more of her works.

But while I think the book could've been stronger with some more of that development, it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the heck out of Will and Cassie's relationship.

Together, they were fun and flirty—friends whose journey to lovers felt natural, and inevitable with or without Cassie's, er, oh issue.

Okay, so reason had gone out the window. Clearly he felt he'd been issued a caveman challenge – must make Cassie come on cock. Grunt grunt.

Will was definitely the highlight of this book for me. He was very charming with his blunt, shock-your-panties-right-off comments, and his oh-so filthy mouth—I mean the dirty talk on that boy! *bites lip* But what really made me love him, was how unwilling he was to give up on Cassie—it made me believe in the friendship and romance between them.

“One day I’m going to make love to you, Cass,” he promised. “Make no mistake about it; that’s where we’re headed, where I want to go. But right now, I’m going to fuck you. I’m going to fuck you slowly and carefully and I’m going to make you come.”

So all in all, I would recommend Once Should Be Enough to those who enjoy friends-to-lovers romances, and are just looking for a quick, dirty, nothing-too-serious read.

If you are seeking for a short, funny and steamy book this is the one for you!
Cass think's she is frigid and hates sex but her best friend Will doesn't think that's the case.
So he is trying to make her see it by bringing in a challenge.

What bothered me a little was that Cass was a runner ( from "problems" )
She also had some pretty weird thoughts, but I guess everyone has some of these questions
once in a while.
Will was a bit of an alpha what I really like to read about.
You didn't get the chance to really love them, because it is really short.
But it's so good for a short escape.

Wow, who would believe what three muttered words between freinds would lead to, "I Hate Sex!"
Certainly not Cass, she never expected her freind Will to take it as a personal challenge to prove her wrong, going so far as to bet her that she does like sex and is not frigid.
Will is floored at first by her statement , then angry at her exboyfreind, then angry at himself for having allowed himself to be friend zoned ;but not even thinking he throws out the bet , the he will prove that she is not frigid.
Cass running and him following leads to Will catching up and lots of dirty talk and an intense make out session in the college quad ,ending with Cass being proven wrong; she can be aroused and orgasim. But the shy Cass , is now the embarrassed Cass and puts up a wall between her and Will, one that will last over a week . Until Will finally gets tired of her avoiding him and he chases her down at a local bar. Why? Because, Will wants more of this gorgeous fun women he has come to know , a lot more! He proceeds to prove her wrong repeatedly!

Such a great novella, well written , fun and sexy read that ended way to quickly! Not to be missed!

Once Should Be Enough
Nikky Kaye

Arc received in exchange for an honest review.

4 I’m not easy... in anyway stars.

This was an absolute pleasant surprise, Offered through Goodreads by Nikki to read and review, I was quietly sceptical about the storyline, but never fear I really enjoyed it. It wasn’t a case of crazy college students running around having sex, but a story of young woman struggling with her feelings towards sex, and let me tell you when a story starts with “ I think I hate sex” it was guaranteed to be a page turner... The whole story was fun, flirty and sexy.

Cassie pretty much hates sex, unable to have an orgasm with her douche bag boyfriend, it is cocky friend Will, who makes the ultimate bet... She will have sex, complete with orgasm with Will at the helm. If he doesn’t succeed, he pays up $1000, sounds like a perfect bet, and for Cassie a thousand dollars is a lot of money. But with the bet, comes more questions... will this ruin their friendship? Or bring them closer together? Regardless of her questions and fears, her “One should be enough” attitude will leave Cassie with way more questions. Like what the hell????

Will figures Cass is the perfect best friend, their conversations are carefree and life together is great, until the one statement he never thought he would ever hear from his best friend or any female in general. Making it his priority to prove Cassie wrong about everything sex, he sets plans in motion for her and him. A classic get off on the quad should do it.. But as he will discover that there is so much more to Cass, and he has no intention of letting her forget it.

Taken from both sides, it was really a journey of discovery into the realisation of sex for a struggling woman, and a cocky but gentle man who will go out his way for his best friend. Will has his work cut out for him, with Cassie believing she is a slut instead of a woman who just enjoys the feelings that come with a physical relationship. Once should be enough... but it wasn’t.

A bit like this book I would have loved way more. I look forward to reading more from Nikky in the future.

Once Should Be Enough is a short and sexy friends to lovers novella. It follows Will and Cassie as they navigate the murky and tricky waters of friends with benefits and perhaps more. It is hilariously told from both Will and Cassie's points of views and this definitely helped to understand the different emotions the two were feeling.

Will was assertive and gentle at the same time. I definitely enjoyed his chapters and inner monologue the most. It was a little hard to believe though that a 21 year old college guy would be so incredibly experienced and comfortable with his sexuality and "technique", but it made for some very steamy and sexy times. Cassie was believable as the sexually naive heroine, but her constant worrying and hot/cold behavior was annoying at times. I understand it was necessary to really drive home the point though that enjoying sex in all it's forms does not mean that one is deviant or promiscuous. I loved that Will was unapologetic (although maybe a little crass at times) about this and helped Cassie overcome her sexual insecurities.

I'm excited to see that there is a sequel coming out soon that continues their story, because this novella definitely left me wanting more.

4 fun, dirty and scorching-hot stars

Short, funny and super-sexy, this friends-to-lovers novella made me laugh out loud and fan myself at all of the hotness before leaving me with a big smile on my face. It’s lots of fun and seriously dirty, and I loved it!

“I think I hate sex.”

Will and Cassie are College lab partners and have been friends for about year when she drops that ^^ bomb on him. Their relationship has always been strictly platonic, but with those five words, everything is about to change.

She was the kind of girl that every buddy of yours thought you were secretly banging, and you secretly wished you were, but you weren’t.
Like a dumbass, I friend zoned myself from the beginning. And because we were friends, I couldn’t hit on her. Recently, I had been reconsidering that rule.

Having experienced only mediocre sex in her lie, Cassie thinks that she is a prude – unable to get really turned on and believing that she doesn’t like sex at all. So what is a friend to do, other than finally fulfil his secret fantasies and make a bet that he can prove her wrong.

“I need to show you. Oh god, let me.”

I really enjoyed this book! It’s a quick read, but I was so impressed that even in such a short story, the author managed to create crazy chemistry, and the sexual tension is sizzling!

She’d gone from almost hyperventilating to holding her breath, practically vibrating silently.
“You are
not frigid. And I can prove it to you, over and over and over and over again.”
… “Once should be enough.”

The story is told in dual POV, and I loved both Will and Cassie’s voices. Their inner monologues are hilarious and engaging, and the banter and building tension between them is fantastic. They are fun and natural together, and everything that happens between them feels ‘right’. They do have some bumps to iron out along the way, but Will is pretty freaking irresistible, and all of that anticipation can only be held back for so long.

“I. Want. You. You. I want you in my bed … And I’m sorry if it fucks up our friendship – because, damn it, I want that, too.”

And Will… holy hell! Will has a filthy mouth and even filthier moves, so be warned that this book is highly smutty. It’s classed as erotica, and it’s really descriptive (and I admit it made me cringe at one point), but OMG it’s hot! But more than just being a sexual arrangement, there are true feelings involved and the emotion adds a nice intensity to the sexy time.

“One day I’m going to make love to you, Cass,” he promised. “Make no mistake about it; that’s where we’re headed, where I want to go. But right now, I’m going to fuck you. I’m going to fuck you slowly and carefully and I’m going to make you come.”

This was such a fun read. I loved the characters, I loved their dynamic, I loved the delicious feeling of anticipation that was there from start to finish, and I love the way they story unfolded. I’m really looking forward to reading more from this author.

I loved it – 4 stars.

This was a fun and spicy quick read, I wish it were longer. I loved the banter between Will and Cassie. I did fee there could have been more in the story like both their backgrounds and what was Cass actually studying? Nevertheless I will defiantly read more by Nikky.

Spicy

Once Should Be Enough is an erotic novella and the first book I read by Nikky Kaye. Friends with benefits is one of my favorite themes, so of course I had to jump right in.

I was hooked from the first page, mainly because of the great dialogue. I thought the sex scenes were hot and diversified. However, it was somewhat predictable and there wasn't much about the main characters to feel somewhat invested or fall in love with them.

The pacing and the dialogue made this story great. I wonder what the author might do with a full length novel, I think she could pull it off easily! I want to read more of her books.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review. Since this little novella was so short, I don't have as much to say as I would about a novel. I will say that the smut in this book was very descriptive, but not too descriptive to where it was too much. It was just the right amount of smut. I will say that the characterization was off for me. This novella was about Cassie exploring her sexuality, but I didn't like how I felt like Will was pushing her into it. Will is a guy I hope most guys aren't like. He had disgusting thoughts about Cassie that weren't okay with me. I didn't like some of the things he said, like how "patient" he had to be with Cassie when she barely wanted to have sex with him in the first place. I also found it disturbing that Cassie sharing with Will, her FRIEND, that she hasn't climaxed "basically issued him a dare" to have sex with her, which started the whole thing.

This novella was okay, aside from the disgusting thoughts coming from Will's head.

Four stars!
I found the premise for this erotica story fascinating. Making it a bit of a challenge for these two to see who is right. I feel bad for Cassie and how her wants weren’t taken into account in the past, plus how she was scared of her own desires. Will was a little overbearing at the beginning. However when he realized Cassie was scared he mellowed out and paid more attention to what she was saying and what she wanted. The sex between these two is so steamy. They have some seriously fun times together in bed, or wherever they happen to be as some of the cases happened to be. I really liked how Cassie blossomed and grew into her feelings. The ending is a sweet happy for now for these two. I can tell they’re going to give a relationship a go and have tons of fun along the way.

Short, sexy and packed full of fun.

Although short, which let's face it at times is just what we need, this book lacked nothing.
Cassie and Will are friends who met in a college class. While hanging out over a meal, Cassie blurts out "I think I hate sex". I laughed so hared considering what Will's expression would look like.
Now put into play the thoughts that have been playing through Will's head anyway and this is the perfect opportunity to makes his play. Not only that he is out to prove to Cassie she's not frigid or anything of the sort. So begins a fun filled proposition.

This was a to the point story with no background (which honestly as not needed) between two friends who become so much more. I LOVED everything about it. I laughed, I swooned and had thoughts of the next book already swimming in my head.

This was a hot little soupçon of a story!

“He didn’t just drag a response out of me – he ripped it out until all my edges were jagged.”

Cassie and Will are really good friends at college. Even though Will has always thought that Cassie was hot, he friend-zoned himself from day one – not sure why, though.

When Cassie admits that she’s hates sex and thinks she’s frigid, Will makes a bet that he could disprove all her thoughts about sex and herself.

This was a great, quite electrifying, little read – with tons of chemistry running through the story. The author managed to pack quite a lot in with so few words.

3.5 Stars!

Nikky Kaye is a brand new author for me and one that is blowing in on the quick, dirty, and smutty scene. Once Should Be Enough was a sexy, sweet, and fun, friends-to-lovers romance that gives readers a happy for now ending.. with more to come in the near future.

This book was good... fast, sweet, over-the-top in every way, and definitely super steamy with loads of sexual tension. While I had trouble connection with our characters at times, the flirting and chemistry in this book definitely made it stand out.

Meet Cass and Will... two friends who are about to cross boundaries that can never be undone. Will knows he can be the man for Cass, while proving to her that she is a desirable woman who is definitely not frigid. Cass doesn't know if Will can do it but once he does, it can never be taken back. Now, where do they go from here?

I recommend this book.

Nope - this was essentially a long sex scene (ok, many, many sex scenes) with no character development at all. I didn’t like either character and thought there were plot holes all over the place (ex she tells Will about not climaxing and its made into a big deal because she is only comfortable to tell him and no one else...but when he meets her friends toward the end, they all make jokes and know all the intimate details of their sex life).

Unnecessary, childish drama just made this really hard to read.

Just when it gets really good - it ends. Where did the rest of the story go?? I need more!

I enjoyed this short story a lot but it sadly ended too soon. I really would love to read more about those characters.

The Story:
Will and Cassie are Lab partners and talked about this and that but never anything too personal. When Cassie tells Will embarrassingly that she believes to be frigid he just can't believe her and promises to make her scream. Even though Will always saw Cassie just as a friend and not more, he can't deny her hotness and he's not just talking about looks. Cassie doesn't know what to think of Will's offer. It can only be a joke, right?! And not even a funny one. Though when she realizes his seriousness about this... oh boy! Her opinion on sex is about to be challenged. Will is determined to show her how good it can be though neither of them are prepared for what's about to happen.

Thoughts:
I definitely liked where this story went but something felt missing. I just did not get enough of the characters. Does that even make sense? The writing was really good and kept my attention and the sex scenes were oh so hot.
I would have liked to get to know Cassie and Will a little bit better though I understand that this wasn't possible with the story being so short. I think it was really good for this length though. It got me so interested that I would like to know more about the story and its characters. I would definitely keep reading when there was more, especially with more background and depth.
I loved the funny banter in between and I also liked that Cassie wasn't instantly head over heels.

Quotes:

Waking up with a hard cock was normal. Taking it in my hands was also normal. What can I say? I'm a guy. Rubbing one out is like blowing your nose sometimes; you just have to clear up the congestion.

Okay, so reason had gone out the window. Clearly he felt he'd been issued a caveman challenge – must make Cassie come on cock. Grunt grunt.

Don't let shame and guilt run your life.

Fun and steamy novellas are my guilty pleasure. This one has brought more than a few smiles to my face and a lot of pleasure.

It's very well written, has a quirky premise, the characters are lively and their dialogues are so much fun. I laughed out loud and shook my head at times. Maybe the girl is too confused and acts like a teenager, but some people have their principles a bit twisted and that translates into awkward decisions. And maybe he is too knowledgeable on bed matters for a college student, but who knows what young people have access to nowadays. I only know that I've learned many things from books and stories like this one which includes a scene that I've never seen before. Those six f.... wow.

So, the premise goes like this. She feels a little under the weather because intimacy is boring and disappointing and she thinks she's not made for it. Naturally, her friend's reaction, her very male friend's reaction, is to issue a promise. He will show her better. From that point onwards, it's all hilarious and hot in equal parts.

He has the challenge of his life to assuage her fears and feelings of guilt at discovering what she likes. The building-up is pure fire and the steamy scenes are squirming-with-need material. I loved the way he awakens her body and caresses her face and looks into her eyes. I loved his patience and his overachieving nature. And I really liked that the girl's misgivings opened up the chance to delve into our own presumptions about what right or wrong is about our bodies.

Very enticing and fun story. I recommend it.

I knew once I read the first sentence in this book it was going to be a I can't put it down until I'm finished kinda book, and thank goodness it's a short one so I was able to read it in one sitting. The first sentence is "I think I hate sex." It's not the line itself; it's who Cassie said it to. Her good friend, Will. Of course as she made this confession while he was drinking a chocolate shake! There was a good amount of humor in this book and it was what made this book so charming/sexy!

Of course, Will doesn't understand why she made that statement. She's hot and he can't imagine why she'd hate it. He tells her that if she hates it someone was doing it correctly!

Cassie has been accused of being "frigid" by her ex. And she wants to right that wrong. With some convincing Will tells her he's up for the challenge of disproving that theory and makes a bet with her! She's so embarrassed admitting that to Will, but her redness just makes her that much cuter to Will!

This was such a great "quick" story! Will gave it his all trying to prove to her she wasn't frigid at all. I love friend to lovers books, they are normally sexy, but also very sweet because they already love each other and it just gets better when they give in to their urges. I believe he did accomplish his goal of helping her realize she's way more than frigid and way more than just his friend! Great story!

Wow! This was an awesome short story, Once Should Be Enough by Nikky Kaye. We have Cassie, a 21 yr old College student who isn't interested in the cliche sex scene the experience has to offer and Will, a good friend who wants to be way, way more. Cassie has not had the best experience in the bedroom, and it quite frankly doesn't interest her. She is seriously thinking that sex isn't for her. Will on the other wants to change her mind. He seems to take this on as the ultimate challenge and gives her an offer she can't refuse. And the challenge is, he has to give her an orgasm during sex. If he doesn't he has to pay her $1,000. If he does she has to pay $100. But who knew he would give her an orgasm right there in the Quad in front of a bunch of people ON HIS LEG. Oh and may I just say that's only the beginning.
I won't go any further than that. You have to read it yourself. But may I just say that this was one hell of a steamy read. I wish it was longer. MUCH MUCH Longer. I want a sequel. I want more. I wish this wasn't a novella and I was sad when it ended.

4 Stars From Sammy's Book Obsession!

I was provided with an ARC/review copy.
This was my first time reading anything by author Nikky Kaye. I liked her writing style. While Once Should Be Enough is a short, quick read, it was nicely written. The dialogue between the characters was natural and fitting to the situations. The story flowed well, if not a little quicker than really necessary.
All in all it was a light, quick read. It wasn't my favorite and I didn't fall in love with it, but it was a good read for a lazy afternoon. It was somewhat predictable. Fun, but predictable.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a light, quick, New Adult/College Age read.

This is a sexy, fun and addictive quick read.
Will and Cassie definitely keep you on your toes with this fun friends to lovers novella.
Who knew by Cassie saying she didn't like sex and had never orgasmed would lead to this.
This book had friendship and fireworks and lots of do overs.
Once wasn't enough for Will and Cassie and I've got a feeling it will never be enough with these two lovers.
Will helped Cassie liberate her needs in this explosive novella and he's just what the doctor ordered for her.
I for one can't wait for Don't think twice the follow up to Once should be enough as I really enjoyed reading this novella.

What an extremely quick read! Though this is a novella, it certainly does not skimp on the hot and sultry details. Being a novella there wasn’t adequate time to fully develop the characters as I would have like, but I am hoping that this was just a prequel story for these characters. I was hooked from the first sentence and I truly hope there is more in store for Cassie and Will. At only 92 pages Ms. Kaye definitely squeezed a whole lot of sex and steam. This was a very enjoyable read and I would read anything else Ms. Kaye had to offer.
