Somewhat stuffy and set in his ways, 31-year-old, handsome, well-built Hammond Vashon was born into an extremely rich family, and his brilliant business acumen has exponentially increased his family's wealth. When his parents inform him, with only a few days notice, that they are heading out for an extended second honeymoon, and they have turned over the enormous family mansion to a Hollywood film production, Hammond strongly suspects his cagey, matchmaking, maternal grandmother, Daisy, is up to no good. Only a few months ago, she tried to hook him up with a wonderful woman, whom he had no romantic interest in, and who who ended up marrying his younger brother. As much as he is supportive of his brother's blissful HEA, Hammond is adamant that he won't allow Daisy to match him with anyone. He will be choosing his own wife, thank you very much.
Hammond is convinced that the woman his grandmother has chosen for him this time around is the star of the television pilot the crew is shooting, a gorgeous 20-something actress named Pippa. He has no trouble resisting her, but he finds himself instantly drawn to the quietly beautiful, 21-year-old, line producer, MacKenzie Bowen.
This cute romantic comedy is every bit as terrific as the other books in this wonderful series. Hammond and Mackenzie are a delightful couple, and the coterie of quirky, matchmaking senior citizens are back again and up to their old tricks. I have read this novel multiple times over the years and enjoyed it equally every time. It is definitely a keeper.
I enjoyed this book, just like the rest of the series. I was bothered by the editing though. In the first half of the book Pippa’s last name alternates between Carrington (like the book description) and Covington, with it switching to just Covington in the second half. Editing problems like this would be so easy to fix, and really take away from my immersion and enjoyment of a book
Poor Glenn he was such a lovable character. Another good story that was entertaining and enjoyable. I think I have found another author that I really like.
In An Unpredictable Match by Barbara Dunlop, when a group of senior citizens decides to play matchmakers, no one is safe! Hammond and MacKenzie's grandmother's, with the help of their group of friends and a computer program that's never wrong, have decided that Hammond and MacKenzie are each others perfect match. Being obvious about it won't work though...so in their own complicated way they work to bring them together by using Hammond's family mansion as the set of a film production that MacKenzie is working on. It's not as easy as they think it will be though, and things get complicated very fast...threatening all they've worked for to bring Hammond and MacKenzie together. Will it be a match made in heaven when all is said and done or will they go their separate ways?
I enjoyed this entertaining story by Barbara Dunlop where almost everyone is trying to outsmart each other! I laughed, worried, and could feel the heat coming off the pages! Hammond is attracted to MacKenzie from the start. MacKenzie is just as attracted, but as a woman in Hollywood, knows the risk of gossip by becoming involved with anyone remotely linked to a production she's working on. The air sizzles when they are around each other though! They have no idea they've been set up, and it was fun to watch them get to know each other. Hammond had his own ideas what the seniors were up to, but they still managed to pull one over on him. I liked the push and pull between Hammond and MacKenzie as things started to heat up, and the tension it sometimes created was realistic. The ups and downs of what happens as the plot and the production move on, and the consequences of actions added a lot of oomph to the story.
An Unpredictable Match is a fun book with a great set of characters. This kind of thing might not happen in real life, but An Unpredictable Match is a well written, well paced book to escape into another world in. I'd recommend it to an romance reader!

I just finished all 5 in Barbara Dunlop's Match romance series in 2 days. Yes, I enjoyed them that much. It was the premise that reeled me in plus the first book was free from Amazon via the BookBub deal of the day. And what a great marketing ploy.....I just went ahead and bought the last 4!
The premise: several senior citizens living in a Florida retirement community are wishing their grandchildren, great nieces and nephews would find true love. They discuss the standard on-line matchmaking programs. But one of the guys was formerly employed by NASA and is convinced he can develop an algorithm that would be better at matching people. And it works better than they've ever hoped! Each book tells of a different match. Some are more difficult, like if the two live on opposite coasts as in this one, book #5. But these senior citizens are never deterred and are always successful! Good (romance) writing and well-realized characters combine with the cute stories. Yes, I'd read more if the author writes more in the series.
This is a cute story about a group of retired friends who have a match making program and use it to bring couples together. In this book, Daisy Vashon and Lizbet Blythe use their program to match their grandchildren Hammond Vashon and MacKenzie Bowen.
MacKenzie and Hammond have no idea what is about to happen. They are thrown together when MacKenzie goes to Boston to film a television pilot in the Vashon mansion. At first Hammond is against all of these people invading his home, but he quickly changes his mind when he meets MacKenzie.
This was a fun book to read with a sweet story line. I really enjoyed the characters and could picture the friends sitting around deciding who to match next. The romance part didn't miss a beat. MacKenzie and Hammond are the perfect match.
"An Unpredictable Match" is a romantic, funny, steamy, and entertaining story.
"An Unpredictable Match" by Barbara Dunlop is book two in the "Match" series. This is Hammond Vashon and television line producer, MacKenzie Bowen's story.
Daisy, Lisbet, Sam, and JW are a group of friends at the Sunny Autumn Seniors Community in Port Aidin, Florida. They started a match making project in book one of this series. Now it is Hammond, Daisy's grandson, and MacKenzie, Lisbet's granddaughter's, turn. Hammond and MacKenzie better watch out because this group means business.
FYI, includes mature content. I received a copy of this book from Tule Publishing for an honest review.
This was a fun read. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I really enjoyed An Unpredictable Match. This story is light, relaxing reading perfect for the beach or a lazy Saturday afternoon. Hammond and MacKenzie are no match for their matchmaking grandparents who have decided these two will be perfect together and have set them the perfect trap. I loved that the grandparents were in tune with Hammond's suspicious mind and set him up so nicely, and I loved the interaction between Hammond and MacKenzie.Set in a truly swoonworthy Boston mansion, the plot revolves around the filming of a TV pilot. With likeable characters and a fast paced plot, this story had me smiling all the way through.
I so enjoyed this book by Barbara Dunlop. A fun entertaining book that you will be laughing out loud at and cheering the romance between MacKenzie and Hammond. Loved the antics of their grandmothers and fellow senior citizens, who put together this matchmaking business. There was an immediate attraction between them, but Hammond had to work on MacKenzie. Great character development.
This is the fifth book in the series, but I started here and was not lost at all. Now I'm going back to read the other books in the series. A new to me author. I highly recommend this book!
A meddling group of senior citizens use a match/dating program one of them designed to match up their unmarried relatives without their knowledge. The group has a wide variety of resources to make things happen and they use them when they team up MacKenzie Bowen and Hammond Vashon. MacKenzie is clueless but Hammond suspects something is up when he learns that his home, the family mansion, is going to be used as a TV pilot set. I loved the dialog in this story. It was hilarious and comical at times that I laughed out loud. Great banter happened between MacKenzie and Hammond.
An Unpredictable Match by Barbara Dunlop. A author I haven't read in the past. I enjoyed this story even though it was the 5th book in the Match series and I haven't read the past ones. I'll be sure to read the other books by this author and future books. The storyline really pulled me in.
This is my first book to read by Barbara Dunlop. Hammond and MacKenzie have a fun chemistry to watch develop. I will definitely read more of her books.
