Werecheetah Coalitions #1

Unstable Environment

Rate this book
A were-cheetah with a troubled past and a human with a troubled present are the only hope for a child's survival. Selfless pilot Sinclair Duval gave up two promotions, a beautiful condo, and a lover to protect her three-year-old niece from the lifestyle that destroyed the child's scheming mother, Sinclair's sister.

Blaming himself for the loss of his fiancee in the last were-cheetah skirmish, brooding healer Rio Velasquez wants nothing to do with the upcoming battle, but struggles with turning his back on another innocent victim. When an act of sabotage nearly causes the toddler's death, Rio delivers a bite that saves her life - and changes her into a shape-shifter. A deadly clan war, an overzealous social service worker, an out-of-control shifting child, and falling in love add up to an Unstable Environment.

About the author

Marcia Colette

Paranormal author Marcia Colette is always hard at work on her next novel...assuming her day job doesn't get in the way.

Ever since her first book HALF BREED opened to fantastic reviews and became a Fictionwise Bestseller, she hasn't looked back. She can't write a story unless there are paranormal aspects or a certain level of creepiness involved. When not crafting novels with twisted plots and supernatural thrills, she's either diving into her massive DVD collection or working out on her elliptical. Marcia is a member of the Horror Writers Association, Paranormal Mystery Writers, and Infinite Worlds of Fantasy Authors.

The best place to find her is on her blog where she loves connecting with readers and other writers. Conferences/conventions where sci-fi, fantasy, and horror reign supreme are a good bet, too, along with the occasional romance conference.

A really good plot, with a cast of characters that were real without being overwhelming. The book was badly marred by poor editing and misuse of words (wrong tense or just wrong word being usually spelled correctly). It also had several places where it seemed as if the author was just jotting down notes but never went back to fill in the details... sort of like hearing part of a conversation where you wonder what the theme is.

This is a sexual thriller so if you dislike what is commonly being called "woman's literature" you might want to pass this by.

For the theme and plot, I give this a 5, for the writing, a 2 and the editing a minus score.

This was my first book by Marcia and I have to say I hated for it end!
I realize now that I need #2 of the series but I am not sure which one it is...I will find it though, trust and believe. I was hooked from the very beginning and I just ordered Hazardous Environment, I an not sure which book came before this one, but I will get them all that I know. You will love her books and will become a instant fan like I did! Love me some Rio, Sinclair and Nahla, just beautiful!
