Goodness me, this book nearly sent me to the cardiologist! Murder mystery, inspirational romance, or romantic suspense. Take your pick.

Widow Lauren Grace Halloren didn't ever intend to go back to her hometown, Evelynton, Indiana, but her aunt willed her a house and Lauren was near homeless and hopeless. Along with the house came an avacado-green 1975 Chrysler New Yorker station wagon, one very scary neighbor who shoots his shotgun at prowlers, and some very nice ones who don't even own guns.

But she'd only stay long enough to pay off some bills. As a writer, her earnings were scarcely enough to put food on the table, but at least she could write from anywhere. And no way was she going to the class reunion.

Except her best high school friends Anita and Clair insist. And one of her classmates (one who always use to hug the background) doesn't match his picture. Could he really have changed so much?

Local gossip abounds at the local hair salon, but one lady, Patsy, hardly ever says a word. Especially after her husband is found dead.

A tall, dark, handsome guy keeps showing up. So, is Jack Spencer one of the good guys, or is he....

Things only get worse. Dash on over to Amazon and grab a copy. You won't be sorry.

I was given a free copy of this from the author. Opinions and evaluations are strictly my own.

Heart Strings was an enjoyable read laced with mystery and suspense. It also had some sadness in it regarding a love that was cut short far too soon.

Lauren, a freelance writer, moves back to her small Indiana town thinking she is going back to a dull quiet life. She inherits her Aunt Ruth's house and since her life wasn't going well, decided it was better than having nowhere to live. She soon discovers that her hometown offers more excitement than she could ever imagine.

The author's characters are well developed and I connected to the story right away. After the strange events start happening, Lauren's curiosity kicks in and she becomes an amateur sleuth. I found myself trying to solve the mystery along with her, but was pleasantly surprised as the story unfolded.

The book will keep you guessing and has some twists you won't see coming. The ending wrapped things up nicely. If you enjoy a clean cozy mystery with suspense, you will love this one

The author provided a copy and I voluntarily chose to review it.

This book was good! What a fun, fast read!
The main character, Lauren, is a widow who moves back to her hometown of Evelynton, Indiana after learning that she has inherited her Aunt's home, which is exactly what she needed after living paycheck to paycheck and struggling after her husband's death. The author writes Lauren, and all of the other supporting characters, in such a way that they are likeable and believable.

I loved how the book was fast paced, hard to put down, and offered just the right amount of information to keep the plot moving and fun to read.

If you like fun, easy, cozy mysteries, I highly recommend this book!

This cozy mystery takes readers to a small town with a great cast of suspects. Widowed writer Lauren Holloren returns to Evelynton just in time for her 25th high school reunion--and a crime spree. She's inherited her aunt's estate and plans to stick around just long enough to get back on her feet financially. Her plans may change, however, depending upon what she learns about Jack Spencer, the handsome investigator who arrives on the scene. When Lauren's house is robbed the same night as a local murder, she's determined to get to the bottom of it.

I was captivated by the people of this small Indiana town and the secrets they held. The main characters were believable, humorous at times and always interesting. The plot is subtle in the beginning but holds the reader's interest and builds as it goes.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the author's way of developing the characters. She left hints all the way and still added surprises. I love it when I read something, and immediately think, "Wow. I didn't see that coming."
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a mystery.
