*~* STANDALONE NOVEL *~*

A killer . . . that’s what I am.
It’s what I do.
It’s what I live for.
I’m no longer the Preston Hale everyone knew. I left that life and the people in it a long time ago the second I made my first kill. I wasn’t going to give in, but when I heard the screams there was no going back.
It triggered the pain, the need.
I knew what I had to do, and I did it well. But I never expected for Emma Turner – the only link to my past – to come back into my life.
She triggers a different emotion inside me, something I hadn’t ever felt.
It’s not a want to kill . . . but a need to CLAIM.

Preston Hale’s life changed forever the day his mother and sister were murdered in cold blood. Finding their killer has become the sole focus of his existence. Until the day he completes that task, he helps deal with the guilt of not being able to prevent their death by working for the FBI ridding the word of criminals that escape the justice system. Recruited by his father, he focuses on killing mainly rapists and child molesters. Few have a higher kill count then Preston, because killing is something he craves. It is more than just his job to him. He enjoys it, and it has become his whole life.

Preston’s boss, Glenn, is concerned about his preoccupation with murder, and interest in nothing else. He can’t seem to get through to him no matter how hard he tries. There are no family members to turn to, and Preston won’t even go visit his father that is paralyzed from the neck down, and extremely ill. He thinks his father blames him for his mother and sister’s death. Until he is able to eliminate their killer, he doesn’t want to have any contact with his dad. Having run out of options, Glenn hires a blast from Preston’s past as his assistant. Emma Turner has no idea the real reason for her employment until one day when Preston shows up at dinner.

Acting like he doesn’t know who she is, Preston tries to appear unaffected by Emma’s presence even though that couldn’t be further from the truth. She has always been special in his eyes. They were bandmates and good friends until one day after making his first kill, he disappeared from her life without a trace. Both of them had feelings for each other that they never got to express, and as much as he still cares for her, he doesn’t think she can handle the man he is now.

Emma is not about to let Preston pretend not to know who she is. She calls him on his bullshit immediately. Later, Emma’s life is threatened, and all of a sudden Preston won’t leave her side.

Preston learns that a girl they went to high school with was murdered in the exact same way as his sister. He thinks this might be his first real chance at catching the killer responsible for murdering two of the most important people in his life. Emma insists on helping him. After some reluctance on his part and some persuading on hers, he allows her to do just that.

Spending all of this time together brings back memories of happier times. It isn’t long before old feelings come to the surface, and strengthen with each day that goes by. What happens when the only way for Preston to avenge his family is to offer up the woman he loves to the killer?

Trigger was a story that took me by surprise. It is romantic suspense, and though the main character murders people for a living, the book isn’t really very dark at all. The relationship between Emma and Preston is sweet which gives the book a totally different feel then I was anticipating.

Preston is a broody, broken hero which is probably why it was easy for me to warm up to him. My heart broke for him in more ways than one. He didn’t just lose his mother and sister in a horrific way, he lost his father, Emma, his passion for music, and himself. I wanted so badly for him to finally get some peace by murdering the source of all his pain.

Emma is a great heroine, and the perfect match for Preston. Outspoken, intelligent, caring, brave, and loyal, she was everything he needed and more. Throughout the book, she stands by Preston no matter what, and helps him no matter the cost to herself. I loved that she didn’t let him intimidate her or tell her what to do. When she called him out for pretending not to know her, I knew right then that I was going to like her!

Overall, Trigger was a well-paced, gripping story with a decent amount of suspense and steam. This is the first book in a series, and it was a good one. It definitely made me interested in reading more about the group of assassins we were introduced to in this installment. If you like romantic suspense or just romance period, then I recommend this one to you!

"I can't lose you, angel. It'd be the end of me." I kissed her and closed my eyes, fighting back my own tears. "I love you so fucking much. I wish you knew."

L.P. Dover is a new-to-me author and I was not prepared to enjoy this one so much! Well written, this romantic suspense story took me on an emotional journey that I did not expect when I first started it.

Preston Hale and Emma Turner have a past history together. Eight years ago, they used to be friends and bandmates when they were in college until the day Preston left town and disappeared from Emma’s life without a single word or explanation.

So many years ago, Preston left after a tragic event happened in his life and he’s now a well trained killer working for a secret FBI group that targets criminals who escaped the justice system. They’re called the Circle of Justice. Preston had spent years obsessing over his mother and sister’s murders. The guilt had plagued him every day of his life. Stuck in the past, Preston has pushed everyone away over the past height years, thriving only to clean up the trash, embracing his dark side and with the constant determination in mind to find the murderer of his family. Fortunately, this time Preston is not alone in his battle...

When outside circumstances lead Emma and Preston to meet again and to work together, Emma soon realizes how much Preston has changed. He’s nothing like the young man she has known and used to love. He is now ruthless and callous, a cold hearted man blinded only by his anger and his desire for revenge. Yet Emma is still drawn to him, more than she was before. Soon, repressed old feelings resurface and both Preston and Emma can no longer resist the pull of their sizzling connection. When Emma discovers all Preston’s demons and secrets, she’s determined to help him get his life back on track and to find the murderer who ruined his life all those years ago, even going so far as to put her own life on the line.

Trigger is a fast-paced and well crafted romantic suspense. The dialogue is seductive and flows effortlessly. I enjoyed the storyline and how it all turns out. At first, I had a hard time to connect with Preston character and his stupid behavior towards Emma, but as the story progressed I found him difficult to resist. There was also very steamy sex scenes between the leads and some twists and turns to keep it interesting until the very end. Overall, I liked this story of second chance in life, of redemption, forgiveness, of trust regained and of love lost and found again.

Eight years ago Preston Hale disappeared without a trace taking Emma's heart with him. Now he is back. Cold. Hard. And pretending he doesn't have a clue who Emma is.

Eight years ago the urges to kill became too much for Preston to handle, so he left everything behind to join a secret government agency. A group of assassins that eliminate the dredges of society.

When fate gets a little nudge these two find themselves thrown back together for work. With the guilt of his sister and mother's death weighing heavy on him, Preston is slowly losing himself to the dark side. Will Emma's love and acceptance be the key to pulling Preston back from the brink??

I am hitting the jackpot with awesome good reads lately. I LOVED this book. It was right up my alley. I mean COME ON a super secret government group of hot assassins riding the World of evil one scumbag at a time?! What's not to love?

On top of that, the writing was fabulous. The plot was nicely paced and interesting. The sex scenes hot. Preston was such as ass at the beginning, but I warmed up quickly to him. Emma was a great heroine. She didn't take shit from Preston. Together they made a really sweet couple. Add in a nice mix of secondary characters (Wade's book is out in April). And you have a totally enjoyable way to spend a few hours.

Two thumbs up from yours truly.

I was honestly not sure about this book at all and went into it preparing myself to not like it. I don't know why, I think because some of the reviews I read confused me as to what this Hero actually was. A killer or an agent? Well turns out he's both. Preston works for a special group of the FBI that assassinate those criminals that escape the justice system.

Preston was a complex character and I loved getting to figure him out. He was haunted by his mothers and sisters death and it led to his life of no attachments and nothing more than killing criminals. Until Emma ends up back in his life and he can't deny the feelings he still has for her. The two were friends in college until he left with no word to anyone, and she's not going to let him leave again.Even if it means having her life put in danger.

Emma and Preston had a slow moving relationship but I liked that they didn't just jump back into an easy friendship. I loved Emma for Preston because she never let him get away with his bad attitude and wouldn't just walk away from him when he got tough to deal with. Instead she understood the issues he had and let him deal with them in his way, while also making him realize she wasn't going anywhere. She put herself in his life and wouldn't let him push her away, which was my favorite thing about her.

Overall, this isn't your typical romance but it is one that I think a lot of people will like. It's a complete standalone story but there are side characters that will get a story so I can't wait for that.

***4 "Circle of Justice!!!" stars***

This was my first book by Mrs. Dover, but it won't be the last... I have already my eyes upon her "Second Chances" series....
And yep, this book was also about a second chance, but at the same time, it was something more...

It was about justice, about craving the wrong thing, about finding love and losing it, about a man who left everything behind because of the demons that were hunting him deep down inside and about a woman who never forgot...

As you can understand, this story was a wonderful and interesting reading....

Preston Hale's life changed overnight and from that moment, something snapped inside of him... He tried to continue his life but unfortunately the thirst for blood was bigger than everything else, so he took a different path from what he supposed to had taken...

Now, he is killing by choice and he is fuckin' enjoying it!!! But lately, the things are worse than ever... He is starting to lose himself and the thirst for justice never 've been more intense... especially, now that the killer has returned for once again....

Emma Turner has landed her dreamy job and she is enjoying travelling with her boss, but everything perplexed when Preston Hale is back in her life and her boss is forcing her to work with him, who is claiming that he doesn't remember her...

Emma never forgot Preston and she never stop wondering why he vanished just like that from college and her life...
And now, he is back and he doesn't remind anything from the man that he used to be... and not even that but she is hating him, but she can't erase the burning desire inside of her...

"It was as if everything fired to life. I remembered what it was like to be near him, to see his smiling face when we'd talked about music. The old Preston was still there; I could feel him in the way he touched me."

What will happen with those two when there is a killer out there???
Will they have a future together when Preston has keeping so many secrets inside of him???
How will Emma react when she find out that Preston is Trigger???

Can Emma help him to find himself for once again???
And will they be able to discover the killer???

I liked very much Emma and Preston... They were perfect for each other!!!

I liked when they were bickering or when they were kinder to each other...
But mostly i liked them when they started to open up to each other...

"You don't know the kind of shit I've seen. I've seen horors that no one would ever think possible. And you are the only thing in my life that gives me hope."

Preston was moody, wild and so damn angry all the time, but he had his rights to be like that!!!
He was fighting for something great, even though that he was enjoying the punishment that he was giving way too much!!!

He had this fire inside of him that didn't let him be relaxed and merry...
Emma was the only one who could wreck down his walls and he was craving her more than anything else...

But his heart was seeking a closure!!!

"I couldn't help but admire her innocence. I didn't want it taken away from her. She saw the good in the world, whereas all I saw was the bad. She was the perfect balance to me."

Emma was sweet and loving... She was so far away from Preston's world, but she was the only one who can really help him in many ways...

When he left without a word before all these years, he really hurt her and she still haven't get over it... and now, that he is back, he is so difficult to be around him, but Emma did her best and she manage to go through him...

And she was so brave that she had to put up with all those things!!!!

"Did Preston's profession scare me? Hell yeah. But I also knew he'd never hurt me. All I had to do was make him remember what it was like to live and be loved. I couldn't give up."

As you can understand, i really enjoyed this story and I can't wait for the next one... Wade seems like an interesting character... and I want to know more about the "Circle of justice"...

In this point, i have to tell you that i liked very much Glenn and his sneaky plan... and i would love to see and the twins's stories in some point...

“Light is easy to love. Show me your darkness.” ~R. Queen

When I first saw that L.P. Dover was shaking things up with a romantic suspense or dark romance, I could not help but get excited! I love dark reads as much as I adore swoon-filled stories. Trigger is the latest sensation by L.P. Dover, a delicious dive into danger and darkness, and MY NEW FAVORITE BOOK BY THIS AUTHOR!

Trigger, like its name, was FAST AND FURIOUS. This riveting romance was a rush, a raging inferno of intensity where I could not turn the pages fast enough. Energy flowed through me like electricity where I could not help but be engaged. The powerful and perilous plot kept me highly tuned and trembling with anticipation. I WAS THOROUGHLY EXCITED, ENGAGED, AND ELECTRIFIED!

Preston Hale is gorgeous, muscular, tall, dark haired and grey-eyed…and also a killer.

“Killing was an addiction I couldn’t let go.”

Known as Trigger, this modern day vigilante rids the streets of the most sinister criminals. This Dark Knight is badass and beautiful, a mix of dark and light who has been to hell and back, surfacing stronger than ever.

“I didn’t give a f**k what people thought. I did what I had to do.”

Killing has become his addiction…his high…his drug.

“It shouldn’t make someone happy to kill another being, but I craved it.”

Until his high before he started killing, Emily ‘Emma’ Turner came back into his life. The beautiful blonde and blue-eyed woman was Preston’s best friend in college, back when life was much simpler…back when he was more light than dark.

“A need sparked deep inside of me. And for the first time in a long time, it wasn’t the need to kill. No, this ran bone deep. I ached to touch her skin, to mark her as my own.”

Emma never forgot the boy, and now very much a man, who she loved in college and still holds her heart today. When their paths cross years later, Preston and Emma still feel the combustive chemistry like during those college years.

“I threw my arms around his neck and pulled him down into a soul-searing kiss, pressing my lips achingly hard against his…He groaned into my mouth, his arms holding me so tight I could barely breathe.”

I felt that kiss, the passion pressing into me from the pages, the kiss that tugged on my heart.

“We can’t do this. If you’re smart, you’ll stay the hell away from me.”

Emma’s love for Preston never died, but this is not the same man who was sweet in college. This man is rough and raw…dark and dangerous…but Emma still can’t help but care for Preston. She’s determined to shine some light into his dark heart, bring back the Preston she knew and loved like no other.

“The Preston I fell in love years ago is still inside you.”

“He doesn’t exist anymore.”

I LOVED Preston, this melt-worthy man of many layers who walks on the edge of darkness but whose heart is pure gold. Preston protects those he loves and risks everything to be their dark hero. Oh what a hero he is who became my hero in this thrilling tale too!!!

Trigger is one deliciously dark and dangerous read, a drug that you need to devour! Trigger ignites with intensity in a tale that wrapped me in a blanket of darkness while, at the same time, slowly showered me with light. This pulse-pounding page-turner kept me on edge, emotions entangled as my heart raced out of my chest. I FELT THIS HIGH, this delicious drug of a story, where I was addicted and aching for more. I still need MORE.

Ever feel like your rating is too high, or you read a different book than everyone else??

“It’s my job, Emma. I’m the leader of a secret FBI group that targets criminals who escaped the justice system. We’re called the Circle of Justice and we’re not cold-blooded killers."

Seriously??
This premise is ludicrous.
Like, wtf are you people smoking?
Here...let me just simplify it.

The H is a Dexter like killer who works indiscriminately off a "kill list" as an assassin for a billion dollar company that runs a super secret department in the FBI.

I'll wait while you get your laughter under control cuz you haven't heard the best part...

The H also moonlights as a music industry executive to put him in touch with himself since he used to be in a band and now he's just a rogue psycho killer of rapists and the rest of society's dregs.

BTDubs...
The H is tracking his family's killer.
And the h wants them to be rockstars...and the novel leaves you thinking they might just achieve that :/

***(O.o)***
Mind. Blown.

My real issues (all bitching aside):
--POVs are hard to distinguish. Unfortunately, just making the H curse as much as I do is not enough to qualify his as an individual voice.
--The H would never willing agree to let the h be bait. I don't think it's in his nature. Maybe he'd have gone for it if all of Glenn's sons were in on it to keep h safe.
--Honestly, if it weren't for the rockstar/music industry BS...I probably would have 4 starred this. The side plot was ridiculous and didn't move the main plot forward in any way. Every time there was a reference it completely took me out of the suspense of the book. It felt like filler. The singer who had crush on the h and noticed the villain could have easily been a server at the café.
--And the last chapter...please...I wanted to strangle someone. I almost 1 starred this puppy right there.

SG Ladies: no OW/OM...this is safe.

Does sex make your eyes water???
---quotes of h---
"I closed my eyes as he pushed in the rest of the way. The pain of it made my eyes water, but it was a good pain."

"My core stretched to fit all of him, but the pain of it made my eyes water."

I really enjoyed this romantic suspense story. I started this on my phone thinking I'd just read a few pages. However I ended up reading all of this on my phone- every free moment I had I was reading rather than going on social media. Considering I'm on social media too much that is quite an accomplishment.

When Preston reaches rock bottom he leaves everything behind including Emma. Fate has other ideas and they end up meeting again. She is everything he needs in his life but he won't let her in, or will he?

I loved Emma. I thought she was a great strong female character. Preston is hot and I loved him. I was so rooting for these two.

More brothers means more books and that has me super excited. Loved it.

This was a good read that I liked. When Preston Hale was in college. He was lead singer in a band he had just about anything he wanted. Then one night on his way out he witnesses a woman being attacked and his actions caused his life to be changed forever. After the incident he disappeared without a trace no one knew what happened not even his band mates. Fast forward eight years Preston is met with a vision from his past. Emma Turner was a member of his college band and the one woman he could have fallen for if his heart was whole. Now forced to work in the same city. Emma can't believe that after disappearing one night eight years ago he has resurfaced she finds out what caused the disappearance and what he's been doing since the night he took off. She also finds what happened to his mother and sister when he was a teen. She is out to prove to him that she still wants to be there for him and with him. This was a good read and my first time reading this author they have some really good hot chemistry between them. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Trigger by LP Lovell

This story is romantic suspense. Nothing dark about it. No mafia. Nothing that I look for in a story. Doesn't matter.....it's a great story!

Preston has suffered greatly. His detachment protects him while slowly killing his soul. But there's light in the form of Emma. She's his match in every way. The "awkward stage" of their relationship is hilarious. Reading their struggle to figure things out is incredibly funny. In between awkward moments, there is the issue of that pesky serial killer with serious mental issues stalking and killing as opposed to standing in line at Walgreens for his meds! What'd ya think is gonna happen? Correcto!!!

This was such a pleasant surprise of a read. I'm speechless. I went into this story not knowing what to expect and after experiencing lots of different emotions, I can honestly say this was a winner. I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars so I went with the middle. It was full of mystery, suspense, romance and lots of 'holy shit' moments.
It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through with twists and turns. It kept me guessing and turning the pages. What an exciting story!
Preston and Emma were amazeballs! And I loved that we got both of their POV's.

I'll write out my review soon but let me just say I'm chomping at the bit for Wade's story now.

I loved the beginning of this book.  Preston was a total jerkface to Emma......even having the balls to act as if he couldn't remember her from their earlier years and being in a band together.....I mean really, how could you lie about that, but he did!  And yes, I loved his stiff uncaring attitude towards her even if it was all an act! My biggest complaint, he caved too soon......I wanted him to continue to treat her like a stranger....is that bad of me?? But, Preston did not have an easy life.  He disappeared from Emma's life for eight years with his only focus on vengeance.

Anyway, this is a good start to a series which I will continue.  There was a definite connection between Emma and Preston, and the craziness that was Preston's life kept me flipping pages.

I was provided an ARC of this book through NetGalley for an honest review.

Fantastic! Suspense, mystery and a great romance made this one a very enjoyable read. Preston Hale's life changed completely the day his Mother and Sister were killed. Now a trained assassin he's looking for one thing - Revenge! Fearing he's going off the rails others in his "group" pull in the one person who could get through to him. Emma Turner has always had a piece of his heart but he walked away from her. Now she's back in his life and nothing will ever be the same.

This one has a fresh and unique storyline and I can't wait for more in this new series. I highly recommend this one.

Preston had his life changed in the blink of an eye. One night .. not even 24 hours not even 12 .. one night. The loss he suffers is huge and tears him into pieces. Vowing he will find out who took the two most important people away from him he is starting to lose himself in the process as well. The dark end of the tunnel is where he is slipping away.

Emma doesn’t understand why the man she loved just left. He was there and then gone. Years have past and now that same man is staring back at her acting like he doesn’t know her. She wont stop until she finds out what happened to him. What he left behind including her isn’t over.

This is a decent read. I wasn’t really connected the characters as I like to be in a story. Everything pieced together well but I just didn’t get into the story. Now this isn’t a dark read but there is suspense and of course a lot of digging into what happened and why. Think private eyes type read.

Thank you for the ARC LP. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Just finished popping my L.P. Dover cherry with Trigger. What a great pop it was. This book was one heck of a roller coaster. Up, Down, Sideways then loop de loop, then toss in the twist and turns and you've got a great book that left me tapping my screen quickly to turn the pages.

Preston Hale, typical college student who plays in a band. Heading to meet up with his college crush who also happens to be in his band, he comes across a scene that changes his life forever. Dropping everything after this night, he like vanishes....
Emma Turner, college student playing in a band. One night her 'crush' just seems to disappear. Causing the band to break up and her to go on with her life.

Now years later, Emma working as a PA for the wealthiest man in town can not believe her eyes when she sees none other than Preston Hale walk in to have dinner with her boss and his son. What in the world? He's changed though...He doesn't recognize her...how, how is that possible!!!

Will the past come back to haunt Preston or will the past come back to help Emma?
L.P. Dover did a fantastic job with building up this story and leaving us trying to figure out who the mysterious man is.

Whenever I start an LP Dover book I know that I'm going to be consumed. This author has such a fabulous way of hooking you to a story and then hours later you finish and are still thinking about it. Trigger was absolutely fabulous. It was sexy, suspenseful, full of mystery and most importantly - Electrifying! You felt the connection immediately between the hero and heroine and could not wait to get more of their story.

Preston and Emma have a history. They knew each other 8 years ago but suddenly Preston had to disappear. He had secrets he needed to hide and was bogged down by guilt over the murders of his mother and sister. Fast forward 8 years later, he is back and this time the girl he left behind wants answers. His need for vengeance and answers are only topped by the long lost feelings he has for Emma. But can he trust her enough to open up to her? Can he put aside his undying quest for vengeance to make room for Emma and their future? Read this amazing book to find out.

All in all I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the HOT chemistry between Emma and Preston and the underlying romantic suspense throughout. This was such a wonderful book and I look forward to more books in this series by L.P. Dover! Bravo! ~ Ratula 4 stars!

This was just another book for me. It wasn't great, but it was definitely not bad. I was able to enjoy it and read it through, but I did find myself unable to just completely let go and enjoy the ride. There were a few too many plot holes for me. A couple turns seemed entirely too simple, while others seems blazingly obvious and weren't picked up on.

I have to say I loved the romance, and the fact that despite the obstacle of, well, killing, Emma and Preston are able to come to a compromise that at least suits these strong willed people enough to stay together. Not to mention their crackling chemistry sparking off the pages.

The backdrop of the series is a promising theme, one that could be beautifully expanded on in future books. The cast of supporting characters a perfect well of drama and baggage from which to draw from. Even if it wasn't great, it was a solid, entertaining read and definitely worth the time. ~ George 3.5 stars

Whoa what a book!! I felt like I was reading the script of a Mark Wahlberg movie, Scandal or How to get away with murder. This was a bada$$ book with characters just as bada$$.

Emma & Preston met in college but were never romantically involved; she was his only genuine friend. Preston had demons that followed him ever since his mother and sister were murdered years ago. He always had that chip on his soldier to seek revenge. He walked away from Emma leaving no trace.

Fast forward 8 years and they run into each other again. But this time Preston was different, working for a secret group of the FBI. Emma was still attracted Preston and so was he but he thought she was a distraction. Things shifted between them and they started a relationship.

However, things changed when the serial killer continued showing up and Emma had a "secret admirer". Just grab this one you won't want to put it down and you might want some popcorn while reading this. I can't wait for Wade's story.

I still don’t know how I feel about this book. It’s a romance-sorta. And a mystery-sorta. Suspense-sorta.

Preston, I really wanted to love you. Definitely an alpha male with a strong but tender heart. He has shut down his emotions, thriving only on the kill. The whole competition with Wade-huh, ok. Preston’s need for vengeance is strong, and rightfully so, but it has cut him off from the rest of the world, and the girl he walked away from 8 years ago.

Emma, just never really clicked. She was too sweet and accommodating. Her maturity marginal and just did not come across as someone strong enough for Preston.

While I did not love the romantic angle of the story LP Dover can definitely write some drama! Even though I question whether Preston REALLY would have been okay with Emma being bait, I was into the whodunit. The ending was fast and exciting. Look forward to Wade’s story!

A good story that keeps one turning the pages. The villain was pretty obvious and nothing went too terribly deep, but an interesting and enjoyable read, nonetheless.

The blurb for this book had me intrigued, and so when Trigger hit my Kindle I knew I needed to start reading it ASAP, and I’m glad I did. Once I started this book I wasn’t able to put it down!

We meet Preston who is one complicated guy. When we first meet him, he seems like your average college guy, and then WHAM he’s a cold blooded killer, but as you get to know more about him, there’s so much more depth, and everything is not as it seems with him. He has reasoning behind his killing and he really isn’t the bad guy you think he is when you first see the new Preston. When he’s brought in by his boss to try to calm things down, he never expected to see the one girl he let get away when he left his old life behind, Emma.

Emma is enjoying her life as an assistant to Glen, she’s making good money for not doing much. She’s living the life, and that’s perfect since she still gets to write music on the side when she’s not helping Glen write proposals and being there when he needs her. When she finds sees Preston for the first time in years she’s in shock and then she’s furious, but the attraction to him is still there, and she’s set on trying to find out why he up and left without a word to any of their friends.

These two push each other away so many times, and throughout everything secrets are revealed, sometimes by the people that probably shouldn’t be revealing the, but for the good of everyone involved. To say that I was shocked by some of the revelations would be an understatement, but it really helped put a lot of things into perspective in this book. When these two need to work together to find a killer things definitely get interesting, and their connection can no longer be denied.

So much happens in this book that definitely can not be written or discussed in a review without giving the entire book away, but I will say, L.P. Dover did a fantastic job of weaving this story together and keeping me on my toes from beginning to end. I adored Preston and Emma’s characters and their story. I loved each twist and turn she took us on and I was on pins and needles for much of the last quarter of this book praying nothing bad was going to happen. This book was a definite shift in the books I’ve been reading, and I enjoyed everything about it. It was sexy, and suspenseful and the story-line was amazing. How this book ended with these characters made me so happy and I can’t wait to read Wade’s story and see what secret’s he’s hiding in the Circle of Justice!

I highly recommend Trigger if you’re a lover of steamy romantic suspense novels. This book did NOT disappoint!

I tried to get into it. But I couldn’t connect to any of the characters. And the story made no sense. Everything from how the heroine became a personal assistant to switching bosses and etc. DNF

I have always enjoyed reading LP Dover's work. I originally started out reading her fantasy books and moved onto her romance which were always so HOT! LP Dover definitely didnt disappoint with Trigger, it was full of suspense, emotion and so much more. Preston has a hard exterior, he's dealt with a tragedy like no other. Now he's out for revenge and he wont drag anyone down with him, even if that means leaving those he loves behind.

I really loved Preston's character, he was a bad ass and knew it. He wore it as his armor, that was til the one person he left behind years ago comes entering back into his life. However, he still has a lot of unfinished business to take care of. Seems as if Emma isnt the only blast from the past, the cold case from long ago has been reopened and its up to him to find out what happened all those years ago.

My heart really went out to Preston, he had suffered so much loss in his life in more ways than one. I really loved that LP Dover gave us both POVs, I liked getting to know both characters. I will warn there are some events that may have others cringing however, LP Dover held my attention from beginning to end. Once I started there was no putting this book down. I needed to know where things ended up with him and Emma, I needed to know what happened all those years ago and of course we did get our answers. I loved that there was more to this story than just the suspense and romance, we got to see the characters for who they really were, like there love for music among other things. And let's not forget the hot factor, because Preston has just become my new book boyfriend, that is til we get Wade's story, then that may change LOL I really loved getting to know these characters and can't wait to see what is in store next, I really hope that we see more of Preston and Emma as well as learning about the others.

L.P. Dover is back on the scene with her latest romantic suspense standalone that captivated me from the start and hooked it claws into me until those pages, sadly, quit turning. This author is fantastic, always promising me a twisted journey full of ups, downs and everything in between query happy endings that drama are made of.

Trigger was a sexy, intense, passionate, suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat second chance romance that took my heart by storm and led me on a roller coaster ride that I definitely did not see coming. This book was so unexpected and brilliantly written in every single way, I'm still in bliss from reading those words.

Emma and Preston.... man did I root for these two hard, racing through those pages, desperate to get their story. And the particular gem in Trigger.... Preston, sigh, utter (almost) perfection. I fell hard and fast for him.... an angel of good and evil, dark and sweet. Everything about him screamed at me and pulled me in. And the perfect light to his dark.... Emma.

Their story and path wasn't easy but nothing worth having usually is.

I highly recommend this book.

One night changed Prestons life for the worse
With the murder of his mum and sister Preston always vowed to catch the person who
killed them he made it his mission to find out who did it but in doing so he didn't have much of a life he was determined to catch the person who ruined his family and his life

Emma couldn't understand what happened to Preston he was there one day and gone the next years later sat at the table with her boss waiting for someone to arrive in walks Preston she couldn't believe it the one person she was starting to love up and left years ago without a word bit when he pretends he dosent recognise her she vows to herself to find out what happened to him

Will Emma get Preston to open up to her and tell her where he's been all these years and will she be able to deal with his past and present.

Trigger was a intense read that gave you a insight in to a professional killer's mind. Preston after experiencing tragedy turned away from his happy college life and embraced a dark solitude of finding his next target. I felt terrible reading about his turmoil and how the darkness of what he did was slowly destroying him that was until he saw Emma again. She completely changed his plans and I especially love her character for sticking to her guns of secretly loving Preston but not wanting to deal with his crap. The story really came full circle for me when they ended working together as a team. The story began to flow nicely with a few moments of sheer panic for me because I wasn't sure how things would turn out. Overall I definitely enjoyed the suspense and commend the author for how she handled Preston's father.

Despite Preston’s profession as a killer this book wasn’t very dark and neither was he. Emma didn’t stand for bull and I loved that she called him out on it. The plot had great suspense and kept me engaged as a reader. The set up for other characters was done well.
