I ran.Leaving him was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. The only that would have been worse?Staying to watch him become the monster he was taught to be.Living with the fact that I loved him anyway. Now I live in the shadows, hoping he never finds me.Praying that he does. She ran.Left without so much as a good-bye.For years I’ve pretended I didn’t care, pretended that even hearing her name didn’t rip at the shreds of my soul that I have left. Now I’m going to find her.I might not ever let her go.

Loved this second chance story! Admired Vincent for his tenacious composure in handling his temper due to Gina's mess she involved him in but Giovanna aka Gia, the sassy and judgmental heroine ...well I honestly didn't like her character much at all!

The story was written well but I wanted more open conversations and dialogue and less narrative! All in all, Kaye Blue's latest tale was an awesome read!

Interesting book

This was a good story; I didn't really care for Gia and that didn't improve even though she received a happy ending. I did like that she realize what she threw away with her selfish interpretation of what her "life" entailed . True love is a blessing; especially for those individuals who live in non-traditional lifestyle. A lot of us don't have the option of running away; we have to play the hand we're dealt and make the best of it. Really makes you think about your life and the choices we make everyday to squeeze a little more happiness out of the lives we lead.

Alas this turned out not to be my favorite story. I have read all of Ms. Blue's books in this series and the Romanian Mob Chronicles and I simply did not like Giovanna at all. I found her excuses weak and ineffectual. Vincent was and is too good for her. He loved her so much and she just left. Left her Mum, sister, her husband? And for what? Because she couldn't handled it? Could not handle the only life she knew? I just couldn't. All of Ms. Blue' s other women were strong in spirit and stepped up when they had to. I gave it 3 stars for Vincent. In my opinion she didn't deserve him and saying sorry so many years later? Negative.

Poor Vincent...

After years of separation, Vincent finds his wife in an unlikeliest place, in the midst of danger, saving her to bring her back home only risking losing her again because she does not want to back to live an unhinged life as she once lived. When Giovanna is found, she thinks that everything is the same back home, the reasons that led her to run in the first place she finds out have changed while she was gone. She missed out on so much, but knowing this she still remains apprehensive to return home, not wanting to repeat any part of her mother’s history. Tragic. I felt so sorry for Vincent, losing the love of his life for so long because she was so immature and impatient. She found this out after years of separating from her family of the unnecessary time she wasted by running away that she can never have back. She hurt a lot of people who cared about her when she ran away, including herself, and is lucky that those who are still there accepted her back as quickly as they did.

Who says formulatic is awlays a problem? Not me...I know what I like in my books and Kaye Blue will deliver everytime. Dangerous hero with ties to the underworld? Check! Curvy heroine who is sucked into the crime world? Check! Instant attraction? Check!! Sizzling sexual tension? Check!! Gratifying climax? Check! Glimpse into the world of organized crime? Check!!
I cannot complain when I get an erotic interracial story where the hero is dangerously sexy, the heroine is sweet with a dark past and I get to watch the fireworks when these two meet. In every book the juxstaposition of the lethal vs. the innocent is a winning combo.
I like how the men are bad and they own it. The women are drawn to these men but do not try to change them. Their love must survive in a world full of blood and death.

Some books stood out to me more than others: Keep, Possess, Fall, Reign, The Enforcer and more.
Least favorite so far: Avenge, war, the wedding, Redeem

Entertaining Read

It was great meeting Daniela's sister Giovanni but running away from home did not give her the freedom she had expected. Out of the frying pan and into the fire with a gang she has to contend with. Her past returns in the shape of the delectable Vincent. They have history and in this angst ridden novella they both have decisions to make. Great read! A smooth continuation of the Crime Syndicate series.

Understated and Confused

This book was weird. It started off slow and then it zoomed by and I felt like I had a mental whiplash. The characters didn’t develop or evolve like the previous 2 books and it seemed like she relied on what little backstory was given in the previous book. I kinda feel cheated

Wasted Time

Vincent and Giovanna’s story is missing something. The first two had obstacles that had to be overcome. This one of a child rebelling against lifestyle and the parents job choices. Yes, I’m simplifying things, but basically that what it boils down to. Years wasted, to realize that what you want is what you left.

I love Kaye Blue so much. I felt like in this book the main characters didn't have a heavy spark as her other books, but I still enjoyed it nevertheless. Keep it coming Ms. Blue.

Mafia reads are probably my favorite reads in Romance. Kaye Blue usually delivers with her mob series and there was no surprise that I enjoyed this.

This is Vincent and Gia's story. I have read other reviewers thoughts on Gia and how they dislike her. I actually like Gia and I could understand why she was the way she was. She did not want to be in the life and so she tried to stay out of it. She loved Vincent but she did not believe he loved her enough to leave the life. If she had trusted in their love and been patient she would have been surprised.

I enjoyed this story. My only observation would be I would have preferred a lot more dialogue between Vincent and Gia and a lot less narrative. That would have made it a 5 star read for me. I found it fast moving and engaging but I would have loved to hear the couple share more with each other about how they felt about their relationship. Definitely worth reading.

Now I usually love Kaye Blue's heroines, but for some reason, I just wasn't feeling Giovanna; she came off as immature, spoiled, and very selfish. I didn't really see the connection between Giovanna and Vincent. Most of their dialogue was internal, so they didn't do a lot of talking to each other, which was different. We were told how they felt about each other, rather than seeing it for ourselves.

Good read, but nowhere near as good as the other books Ms. Blue has written. Having said that, I'm a fan, so I'll definitely be back for more.

I was disappointed with this book. I had hoped it would have been as exciting as the other books but it fell a little short. There was no real developing in the two main characters ( Giovanna and Vincent), it appears the author dropped her unique style with character building. You would think there would be considering the title.

Sweeter second time around

This is about second chances. About healing. Your heart. Your mind. Your family. Finding out that what you ran from was what you were missing the whole time. I loved this book. I love the series. Looking forward to more.
