Building a New Empire is supposed to be dangerous, but training the next generation of leaders?
That's not supposed to be dangerous, right?
Follow us as we have the people in the Etheric Empire setting up a special academy to train the first set of teen's on a leadership track. They are supposed to learn about the different groups in the Etheric Empire and areas (including R&D, Weapons, Operations and others). Unfortunately, some of the members of those teaching teams tapped to train the kids don't realize how ... adventurous... the teen's can be.
Especially if the teachers are Team BMW.
Travel with us as we are introduced to Alpha Class, one of the teams in the new Etheric Academy as they merge human's and Wechselbalg (Were's) in a group of five young adults as they learn to become the first cohesive group on their first assignment.
With Team BMW as their teachers, nothing could go wrong, right?
I was born in 1968 in Mineral Wells, Tx. I have lived all across the country:Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Alaska, and finally Missouri. I have worked as a Disc Jockey, Bookstore manager, Cook, and bowling alley attendant. I have a Telecommunication degree and a Culinary degree. I was a history major before I discovered multimedia. Gardening and cooking is my passion. My wife and I live outside of St Louis, Missouri. I have always been a Huge fan of Science Fiction and fantasy I bring my love of the genre to my writing. I'm a first time writer.
In some ways this was quite a nice read, not a lot happened during the first half of the book but it was still an enjoyable read. However, when the action did pick up I found it didn’t really grab me, it felt like a collection of incidents, rather than a coherent story. Towards the end it turned into a bit of a farce, with people tripping over decapitated heads and accidentally setting off the self-destruct. Incidentally I can’t believe the author would write a scenario where a self-destruct could be set off by accidentally touching it. I also wasn’t too pleased with the ending. The series has potential but this book fell short.
This was an excellent addition to the Kurtherian Gambit series. I enjoy every addition that I read. This has become my most favorite series of books that I've read.
It was really fascinating seeing the kids as fleshed out characters whom we met in Bethany Ann's series. They seem much older and extremely intelligent. I wish I'd had friends like these when I was in school! They push each other to learn more and each have passions that can help their team in different ways. Team BMW absolutely made the wrong call with that secret and so the last line or so of the book made me chortle. Wish I could read what happened!
My major problem with this book is while it says it is book #1 the authors expect you to have read every other story in the universe that comes before it in the timeline. It doesn't explain enough to those who haven't read the main universe stories or all the little spin off stories that come before this which leave the reading trying to figure out what is going on or why some things are important. If you say a story is book 1 of a series it needs to have enough information in it to stand on its own without people having to read a slew of other books first.
Audiobook review: Very entertaining story of a young class of space kids discovering a new alien ship. Team BMW (Bobcat, Marcus, & William) play a major role in the adventure - the three misfits crack me up each time. The narrator did an awesome job with providing unique individual voices for each character. Definitely recommend!
I enjoyed this book but was a bit frustrated at some things. First Bobcat seems to have taken stupid pills in this book. He just seems way less intelligent than he was before, and he didn't seem all that intelligent before. He didn't seem like a complete moron before this book though. I am guessing that was T.S. Paul's interpretation of Bobcat based one what Michael Anderle had previously written. I wish Michael Anderle had stopped T.S. Paul from making Bobcat quite so stupid. The other thing that I was annoyed with was the name Etheric Academy. It is a bit misleading. When I heard the name, I immediately thought it was going to be some sort of school where people learned how to use abilities based in the etheric realm. Basically, an academy for weres, vampires, and others who may have some link to the etheric. Instead, it is just some sort of elite school within the Etheric Empire. I don't remember the term Etheric Empire appearing in the books before this one, so I was surprised to see it. I am My Ride is a Bitch and all books before it when I say what books were before this one. Maybe the term was mentioned near the end of My Ride is a Bitch, and I just didn't like the idea of an empire being formed. Empires suck. Just look at Star Wars. On the note of Star Wars, I was scratching my head about why the author decided to change the name of Star Wars to something like Galactic Battle and Star Trek to some other fake name. They even mentioned the name of a character from Star Trek without changing that, so I don't see why they changed the name of the show. Despite these comments I have about the book, it was enjoyable and worth the read. I recommend it.
This is a series written for YA, but is just as good for us oldies, too.
Written in the point of view of the trainees chosen for the elite Etheric Academy, this book takes the reader through each trainee's journey, while they start to integrate themselves into groups that will support each other throughout the rest of their lives.
It was good to be brought up to date, as to Bethany Anne's readiness to go through the Gate.
I'm looking forward to reading more about the trainee's escapades in the following books!
This is an excellent YA novel set with the young adults of Bethany Anne's generation. Just as BA came to all of this as a "newbie", these younguns have come to test character's skills in an unknown universe. Some new and already introduced kids on their first adventures, the plot is good and the characters realistic( for teens!). Looking forward to more.
This book is needed in order for readers to actually get a good view of the series. Yes, it's probably very much classified as young adult, but it's one that is integral to the plot as a whole. And for Kurtherian readers, am I just imagining it, or do Marcus and Bobcat get a hell of a lot more reckless than they have ever been?
Ever wonder how team BMW would be as teachers? Let's just say, thank goodness they have intelligent students lol. The first class of the Ethric Academy is in session and judging from the students, the Ethric Empire is going to be in good hands for years to come. Fun read!
Alpha Class is the first book in this new series that is a spin off from the Kurtherian Gambit series. For those who haven't read that series, the beginning of the book can be a bit confusing. But it is an interesting concept and I like the kids who make up the Alpha group of students at the Etheric Academy.
The first book of "The Etheric Academy" and while it's a good story, it isn't as exciting or action-packed as all others I've read until now. I'll be giving them another chance, of course, because it's not fair to expect the same type of thrills when the base subject is so different. On to the next after a couple others! ✋🐺
Fun youth adventure. Well-paced adventure but ralid change if people and situations. Well-behaved kids in this book. Seemed like a whole book had to preceed this one, but I'm not aware of one. Books definitely need to be read in sequence. Ready for the next adventure.
It started out very good but it was a little slow . I guess I expected more action and the kids to be sent out on missions already. Laughing out loud can't wait to see what happens next...
These are going to be fun!!! Can you imagine BMW teaching classes!!! LOL This series is going to be fun to read. I cannot wait until the next one to see what BA does to Bobcat aka Bozo!!!
I enjoyed this book. I feel like I missed out a lot of the back story though. Loved team BMW and the kids on the moon. I'll read the next but I'm going to try and find more of the Bethany Anne back story.
I wasn't surprised how great this book was..I love reading about Bethany Ann ..I feel for Bobcat. He's in so much trouble it's funny...loved the suspense and mystery of the Robot's...
TS Paul has taken the baton from Michael Anderle and run away with the story from the Etheric children's perspective. It will be interesting to watch these characters develop.
This was fun, but odd in a way. For a group of peopke that are looking to go out into the galaxy to teach Aliens to behave, you'd think everyone would want to learn everything they could about any species they came across. Still, it was fun.
Right into a pile of trouble. But the book is really about a group of younger characters and the education they receive at a new academy to prepare them for the future in space and exploring new galaxies. Enjoy!
How much trouble can five kids and three adults get into? Well, the three adults are the BMW team , so basically, eight kids can get into lots of trouble. It’s shaping up to be one heck of a school year.
The idea is not bad, and the writing is actually good. I think it's just the genre (space) that does not really works for me at the moment, and I can't make myself finish the story. Nothing against the author though, I think this book would be good for fans of space adventures.
Another spin off series and like the others it retains the true flavor of the original. Thumbs up to MA for picking the right authors that add to his universe in a positive way. Looking forward to the next book.
