A beautifully illustrated, magical re-telling of one of the most beloved fairy tales. Cinderella wears rags, and lives as a servant under the watchful eyes of her cruel stepsisters. So, when the King invites everyone to a grand ball for the Prince to choose a wife, she must stay at home alone. If only Cinderella could go to the ball too, but she has nothing to wear. Just then, her Fairy Godmother appears and grants her wish … in a beautiful new gown and glass slippers, Cinderella can go to the ball! But she must be back by midnight. Will Cinderella dance with the handsome prince, and what will happen when the clock strikes twelve? Dreams come true in this beautiful re-telling of a favourite fairy tale!
This is also one of the best Cinderella picture books I've seen and, in my opinion, Sarah Gibb's best work to date. The panels for the escape down the staircase and the wedding are g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s!
Absolutely loved the illustrations - both in style and color. Magical, soft and beautiful! The story was nicely written, but it was very light on feeling and characterization. Even though it’s a short, children’s book, I always love when the stories have more depth. Worth having in my collection, though, especially for the artwork.
The story is short and to the point. But the illustrations are stunning! I especially love how she has a few silhouettes here and there, with a beautiful colorful background. It was a great found and a great read!
Another beautifully illustrated fairy tale from Sarah Gibb. The text isn't too long for younger readers to sit and read(well, look ) with an older reader. The illustrations glow and make the Cinderella story truly an enchanting one. The gowns are absolutely stunning, the yellow one in particular is a gasp worthy moment for all readers!
