If Lucky is to save him, and forgive Jamie, she is going to have to learn to use her own burgeoning powers - and fast!

It's a testament to how well characters have been build up over books that when one of them gets kidnapped and you become up in arms and ready to storm the Underworld in an effort to save them before realising you're reading a book and it's not a real person. Ahem....

I would definitely say over the trilogy that I am firmly on Team Jinx although all the characters are amazing. Even the bad guys. In the final book of the series Jinx is kidnapped with the plan that once tortured enough he will bring about various plagues and the end of the world. It's up to Lucky, Jamie and the rest of her guardians (not to mention Guardians...) to rescue him.

This one is much darker than previously but still a rip roaring roller coaster of a story. My heart was in my mouth several times.

And like my review of first book Marked one of the things I love about these books are the fact that we have a non-standard romance that is beautifully underplayed so while it's part of the story it doesn't become or overshadow the main plot.

Overall I've loved this series and am a bit sad that its ended. I would highly recommended the books to everyone

Thank you to @jofletcher books and @suetingley for the copies

This really is the best triangle that is not a triangle. For the men there was never any question of who she would choose. It was obvious she would have both of them, and she never thought of anything else either. Everyone is happy together and if this was more of a romance book then I am sure you would get to see that action too ;)

Anyway. In this one everyone is happy together. Well...not everyone, Kayle is dead and is back to being Lucky's ghost buddy. Kayla's lover is being a bit of an asshat at times. Lucky gang is happy. But then Jinx goes and gets himself kidnapped and the happy triangle is a unhappy duo.

Better rescue Jinx before something bad happens. And yes there are evil plans underfoot in this one. One evil enemy. Revelations. And much more.

I like these because they are light. Not light in their story though. But this one was a bit "lighter", some bad things happened in book 2, and sure bad things happen here too, but it is not the same. The lightness comes from the way it is written and the humour that is sprinkled in here and there. I like a story that you can read fast and enjoy.

I have enjoyed the ride and this world. I like how the author never even came across the dreaded triangle territory, instead she just went with a nice menage a trois. Two smexy demons, one half demon who does not stand a chance.

Bound picks up the story a few weeks from where Cursed left off, Lucky, Jamie and Jinx are in a great place relationship wise but it all goes horribly wrong when Jinx gets kidnapped by their enemies. Thanks to their bond Lucky feels his pain as he is tortured and she's desperate to rescue him as quickly as possible. Jamie also wants to rescue him but as a Guardian he has an important role to play in protecting humanity and when Jinx is taken to the human realm the Guardians are ordered to stop whatever plan his kidnappers are working towards - even if the only way to do that is to kill Jinx. Even though Jamie promises her he'd never hurt Jinx Lucky finds herself struggling to trust him so she decides to work alone to bring Jinx safely home.

One of the things I've loved most about this series is that the author completely avoided the dreaded love triangle by making it clear from very early on that the two demon love interests were more than happy to share. I think this is the first time I've come across a triad relationship in urban fantasy but hopefully it won't be the last because that's definitely a solution I can get behind - I'd just like one that doesn't fade to black for the good bits please! I love how different the two guys are Jinx is the more playful teasing member of the group while Jamie is more sensitive and very caring but they're equally devoted to Lucky.

For her part Lucky has always seemed to care for both guys equally but that seemed to go a bit out of the window here and I ended up getting really annoyed with her for not trusting Jamie more. I get that she was desperate to rescue Jinx but Jamie would never do anything to hurt her and that includes letting the Guardians kill Jinx. It felt a bit manufactured to cause drama and because she refused to work with Jamie Lucky ended up making a lot of stupid decisions and getting herself into trouble because she'd go charging into situations with no back up. It made the story interesting for sure but I did want to shake some sense into her and I felt quite sorry for Jamie because it made him seem like the outsider in the relationship.

Overall I've really enjoyed this trilogy though, there's been lots of action and Lucky's guards have all been such brilliant characters. I'm going to miss all of them, even Mr Shenanigans and Mr Kerfuffle but especially Pyrites. I'm sad we're not going to get more stories about this group but I'll definitely be watching out for whatever Sue Tingey publishes next.

The trinity

This one was heartwrenching. Jinx suffers a terrible situation through most of the book while Lucky does everything possible to find him. Jamie is, of course, torn between love and duty, as you'd expect. I adored the ending though. The twists and suspense made it all worthwhile.

I enjoyed Lucky's character more this time around, and the stakes were much higher which made for a good read. Also Jinx is adorable. However, the pattern of hide--run--capture--wait--rescue etc. got quite tedious after a while. Several unanswered questions and I wasn't entirely happy with the "twist" ending, but enjoyable enough.

Bound, the third and final book in the Soulseer Chronicles, is a real page turner!

The plot is well devised and the pace is quite fast. The intrigue mounts, and each new and unexpected twist leaves you wondering what the heck is going to happen next. Sinister undertones weave through the book, adding to the reader’s captivation. The excitement ramps up throughout the novel and draws you in to such an extent that you really don’t want to stop reading.

For me, Lucky really shines in this third book. She learns to use her daemon powers to good effect and becomes a much stronger character as a result. She still has her vulnerable side though. Tingey writes Lucky’s emotions extremely well, making her even more three-dimensional than in the earlier books.

Lucky goes through a rollercoaster in Bound; as well as myriad emotions, she faces attempted kidnapping, being held prisoner, and a quest to save one of the men she loves. She finds out the hard way who she can trust, and receives support from unexpected sources. Lucky's a great character who has you rooting for her through the entire novel.

Jinx goes to hell and back. He endures torture of the most brutal kind, suffers physical pain so extreme it would break lesser daemons, and emotional pain when he believes the woman he loves is dead. There’s a completely different side to him in this story which makes his character even more compelling.

The author has shaped Jinx so well that you reach the stage where you don’t really know how he’s going to react next. This, obviously, makes him especially intriguing and has you speculating about the end result. In my opinion, he’s a brilliantly drawn character.

Jamie is the character who I always felt was hiding something. He tells Lucky lies on a regular basis and always qualifies it by stating that he didn’t want to upset, worry, or hurt her. Some of the time, his excuses are accepted, but not until he’s plastered on the charm. Lucky is no longer the naïve girl he first met and she challenges him often. When she loses trust in him after he uses his powers to try and control her, you see a different side to him. However, he always maintains that he loves her, no matter what he does or says.

Although he shows his true self in this book, which not only makes you distrust him but dislike him too, you still see the sweet and caring side to him. This makes him something of an enigma and you’re unsure about the motives of his every action. In some ways, I found him one of the most interesting characters, and applaud Sue for the excellent portrayal.

Other characters really step up in this book; some you like/love, while others you love to hate. Each individual has their own distinct personality and voice, making them all the more interesting. Their parts in the novel are essential to the story and plot - Bound wouldn’t be as compelling without them.

One, whose part is significantly larger in this book, is Amaliel Cheriour. He is deliciously evil, yet deluded. You could even say he’s completely bonkers! His affection to afflict pain, brutalising his chosen subjects, comes to the fore in Bound. Why he’s like that is thought-provoking. There are a couple of twists concerning this character that you just don’t see coming, and they greatly enhance the storyline. He is extremely well-written.

Sue Tingey has a real gift for crafting characters, that’s for sure!

As with the previous books in this trilogy, the amount of description used is spot-on for my taste. The author presents enough to let your imagination picture the scene, and flesh it out if you so choose. This is an art in its own right. Some writers offer way too much description (Tolkien was one such author), whilst others don’t provide enough. How can you suspend disbelief if you are unable to immerse yourself in the world the story is based in? Personally, I love Tingey’s descriptive style. I can dive straight into her world(s) and happily stay there for hours.

In conclusion, I feel Bound finishes the trilogy perfectly. It’s exciting, compelling, sexy, and I couldn’t put it down. In fact, I enjoyed this trilogy so much, I’ve read it twice! This is a five-star read all the way, so if you haven’t got these three books yet, what the heck are you waiting for? Go get them — NOW!!!

My congratulations to Sue Tingey for writing such a fantastic trilogy!
