The Unexpected Resolution A midnight wedding, Army veterans who face repercussions of two different wars, and a very startling wedding guest. Publisher's Weekly says The Unexpected Resolution is a "story about unexpected life events and the honest love that binds no matter what." Wedding days are special, but they don't usually pack as big a surprise as Jolie and Scoobie's New Year's Eve nuptials. Scoobie never knew much about his family -- and after the way he grew up, who could blame him for liking it that way? A 9-1-1 call during the wedding changes everything. Suddenly, Jolie has to help Scoobie figure out what he wants to know, and determine who seems to want someone in his family dead. Knowing more about Scoobie's past could change their future together. But a special wedding arrival may cause even more complications. Book 10 in the Jolie Gentil cozy mystery series brings together the close-knit group of friends and zany Ocean Alley townspeople for a very special event. You don't want to miss it!

I am delighted to read the 10th book of this series in order to find out what was happening with Jolie and Scoobie. A simple New Year's Eve wedding is planned. The day before while eating at the cafe, Jolie sees a stranger in town who was familiar. Later Scoobie is informed that his father is unconscious at the hospital. The wedding is disrupted by the police bringing a ten year child to it. The boy tells Scoobie that he is delighted to finally meet his brother. Julie decides to help Scoobie decided if he wants more information on why his Father left him behind. The reason will break you heart. This book is better if you have read the some of previous books as all the characters are present as it is character driven. Some of the back story is included and the story is completed. I am looking forward to reading the next book. I highly recommended book and the series.
Elaine Orr is one of my favorite authors. This is a subtle mystery, and particularly satisfying. Ms Orr continues character development throughout the series which produces a much richer experience than most mysteries. It's much like visiting old, close friends. And it's more like sharing their lives than visiting. Even though subtle, the mystery is real and it's course and resolution is satisfying. Needless to say, I look forward to reading anything Ms Orr would care to write for us. I can only hope that she has a long and prolific career. Meanwhile, read this book. My guess is that you'll like it.
A bittersweet read. Some secrets from the past are revealed, events celebrated and new characters added. It's hard to beat a cozy mystery with both holidays and a wedding and Ms. Orr pulls it off with some suspense, interesting twists and a lot of humor. Just the wedding alone is full of chuckles. But there are some teases added that make it obvious that Jolie isn't done yet. A great read!
Have read all books in this series . love them all and this one was particularly good. Lot of questions were answered with more answers to follow in next book. Glad there are more p!anned in this series.
An interesting story. Jolie and Scoobie got married at midnight on New Year's Eve. But unexpected issues arose before the reception was complete. While I found the story interesting, it never really drew me in. That didn't stop me from reading it, but it did mean that it took me a lot longer to read than many similar stories. Your choice.
This was one of my favorite Jolie books. Still snooping into things that a better left to the police but a huge dose of personality shown for the main characters. Provides even better insight into Scoobie's past and how he became who he is. You can't help but be a bit sentimental during this book but definitely still has laughs!!
This is such a delightful series! It’s time for Scoobie and Jolie’s wedding. They’ve barely said their vows when they receive a life changing surprise. Ms. Orr delivers a well written book full of charming characters, a nice mystery and a lot of heart. I enjoyed this book and look forward to her future work.
This book brings a lot of changes to Jolie and Scoobie's , plus the usual dead person. The mystery goes on, because not everything was resolved in the end. So on to the next book in the series to find more answers.
I have been a fan of the Jolie Gentil Mysteries since I read the first book. The Unexpected Resolution is a perfect example of the unexpectedness of the series and the warm hearts of the characters that I love. Scoobie and Jolie's New Year's Eve wedding day beings more into their lives than one might expect of a wedding day. A man in the ER has a name that older people from the community recognize, one that even avid readers may not remember, Terrence O'Brien. Although Scoobie refers to him as TAT, the absent Terrence, that is the name of Scoobies long absent father, a father the gentle Scoobie resents with all his heart. This tale has an even bigger and more life changing surprise for the new couple and it includes the possibility of murder. Watching so much of the community come together first to help with the wedding then in support of Scoobie brings warm feelings that makes the mystery series so special.
This is one of those series that makes me love the book I am reading best, whether it is the newest or a reread of an old friend. And that is exactly how I feel about the wonderful books and characters; they are old friends. Can't wait for the next book!
I did not realize until after I read this book and looked up the author this is a series of books. Well this author now has a new fan! I could not put this book down and read it in a day. Jolie and Scoobie are getting married. Jolie is also pregnant with their first child. On their wedding day Scoobie finds out that his father who abandoned him is in a car accident. But that is not all he finds out he has a 10 year old brother Terry. I don't want to spoil it but it is a great story line with some twists and turns which will keep you guessing. I really liked the character of Max (who was hit with a snowplow), and the care and kindness the author showed with his disabilities. The animals Jazz, Pepper and the 2 dogs. You will laugh, cry (I did in some parts) and love the writing style of this author. I also found the emotions of both Scoobie and Terry to be very real and true. I look forward to reading more of her books and the continuing story of Jolie, Scoobie and Terry. I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Jolie and Scoobie have planned a New Year’s Eve wedding, but shortly after saying ‘I do” they receive a phone call from the emergency room that will turn their new life upside down. Secrets from the past are soon unsurfaced.
In this the 10th book in the series, you really get to see just how much Jolie and Scoobie’s characters have grown. They have finally committed to the relationship that took “forever” to cement and besides being newlyweds, they also have a baby on the way. Now just as their new life is starting, Scoobie’s past comes back to haunt him and he must face situations and circumstances he wasn’t prepared for. Thank goodness he has Jolie, her family, and a close-knit group of friends to help him sort through the past to let the young couple have their happy ending.

After a marathon of reading the entire series over a few months, this book is my favorite. You will definitely need tissues while reading, both happy and sad events..who doesn't cry at a wedding? Am also glad to see the series is back to Jolie narrating. The usual cast is included, plus a few new visitors to Ocean Alley. I'm looking forward to seeing what's next for Jolie, her new family, and the rest of the OA crew.
A wedding will bring many different issues and it may even some answers. He knew very little about his family and he was not sure he wanted to know anything. Will she be able to help him? Will he accept that help? How will the wedding go? Find out by reading

3 1/2 stars. Hasty wedding plans, new baby on the way and then, an unexpected yet interesting development. Wanted more from this story, felt it wasn't quite done

This is my first book by this author. She knows how to bring a story to her readers so they don't want to put the book down. Looking forward to reading another of her books soon.
This story will not only keep your interest it will pull on your heartstrings. A wedding, A death, and almost a kidnapping. Read with a box of tissues near by.
A different sort of story with Jolie, Scoobie and the other characters we’ve come to know. No murders, not a thriller but there is a very personal mystery. Terriffic, well-written story.
It's the first book in read in this series and it's really good. The plot is engaging and interesting, the cast of characters are likeable and the plot is sound and engaging. Even if I didn't read the other book in this series I had no problems in understanding the characters and their relationship. I will surely look for the other book in this series. Recommended! Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC
This story with Jolie’s family and wedding to Scoobie has well rounded characters you can relate too. Jolie is pregnant but still leads the way when new people in town cause a wedding surprise that was not planned. They have a town community that cares about its neighbours. Enough to help when Scoobie is solving the mystery of his new family. You will want to see what’s next for Jolie and her family with Aunt Madge leading the way. This was my first Jolie Gentil cozy mystery and can certainly be read as a stand alone but l would recommend following the other stories in the series. I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
