Charles "Chuck" Missler was an author, evangelical Christian, and Bible teacher, and former businessman and Air Force officer. He is the founder of the Koinonia House ministry based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Chuck Missler, an honors graduate of the United States Naval Academy, earned his Master of Science in Engineering from UCLA.[1] In 1999, Missler received a Ph.D. in biblical studies from the unaccredited Louisiana Baptist University in Shreveport,[2] an institution founded by the late minister Jimmy G. Tharpe.
I chose to read this book because I've always rolled my eyes at people who insist that the Bible has secret codes that predict all sorts of things, from the Holocaust to ending the gold standard to the number of earthquakes in a given decade. I personally thought it was all bunk, so when I was browsing in my library and I came across this title, I decided to read for myself about these so-called codes and see if there was anything worth investigating. The book wasn't what I was expecting--it was so much better. The author, Chuck Missler, is very very intelligent and learned. I am relieved that he doesn't advocate using the Bible as a type of ouija board, but instead gives a cursory overview of all types of codes in the Bible text and then expands that into codes in our natural world. I found the last section on macrocodes particularly fascinating. The book is quite long, but there was so much information there and I found it all so interesting, I wished Missler would have gone deeper and given more detail. Missler takes the Bible very literally, he has obviously done a lot of background study on Hebrew and Biblical history, and he is a very intelligent information scientist. He brings out some fascinating information!
I read this book after reading Missler’s “Signs in the Heavens.” I don’t think many science books can make you emotional, but Cosmic Codes did for me at least :) If you’re even a little interested in science, this is a great introduction to several different aspects of science and mathmatics. Chuck Missler’s books are exciting to read and this one covers a lot of ground. Ultimately if you’re wondering why you should read this book??? “It is important to understand the rules if you’re going to win the game.” You’ll be blessed in the study of these exciting subjects that the Bible has a lot say about apparently :)
Cosmic Codes is kind of a hokey title, but the content is really about the underlying structure of the biblical text. I like that the zillions of seemingly indisputable references to heptatic structure and other proofs all point back to the validity of the text and message, rather than some kind of new insights that predict the future. If you've read Missler's stuff, he repeats himself a lot, and much of this is stuff he's said elsewhere. Having said that, it was pretty good, and it definitely helps strengthen my belief that the scripture is the inerrant, inspired word of God. The only complaint is the book is pretty lengthy. By the end, it was beginning to feel a little forced.
I very much recommend this book. It is loaded with information and as such you will have to work at reading it. As the old saying goes, "how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." After reading this book I am all the more in awe of my Creator and Redeemer, Jesus the Christ.
A very interesting book that is filled with scientific tidbits. I found it to be an excellent argument for the existence of God. It impressed me enough that I bought two paper copies of the book to give to family members. Highly recommended.
Although this is an exceptionally lengthy book, it is well worth the time to read every page. It is jam-packed with useful and little-known information about codes found both in the Bible and elsewhere, and as a cryptographer and cryptanalyst in both military and corporate settings, Chuck Missler is uniquely qualified to write about them all. While Chapter 1 is a bit taxing on the brain with its history and explanation of what different codes comprise, it lays the foundation upon which the rest of the book is based. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to "look behind the curtain" to see what's hidden.
This book sat on my shelf for a long time. I don’t remember if it was a gift it I bought because of Chuck Missler. At the time I had no interest in the alley Bible code. But when I finally picked it up to read it I was blown away. This a good read on the subject of the supernaturalness of the Bible! There are in fact “codes@ in Scripture that serve as a type of divine “watermark” of authenticity! I highly recommend this book!
I LOVE THIS BOOK. I have listened to Dr Chuck Missler in the radio since I was 7, and now that I am all grown up I love his insight and dedication to teach the Bible. This book covers alot of ground! It has quite a bit of tecnical set up in the begging, but don't be put off, it is well worth your time.
Great overview of the hidden codes in the Bible; what they mean, and what they don't! This book uses sound reasoning without jumping to ridiculous conclusions about setting dates for terrorist attacks etc... And all the rest of the sensationalism that has been attached to the subject recently.
An incredible resource for those who are curious about whether the Bible is really trustworthy. Chuck Missler doesn't stop there though. Other codes are also explored including our incredible DNA.
Missler was great at disseminating information, but maybe not so great at crafting prose. I gave this 4 stars solely because of the information he compiled. I found his writing style to be truncated. I would just be getting into a groove on one of the subjects and ready to dig in deep, and then he was moving on to the next thing.
If you are looking for a handy guide for incontrovertible evidence that supports the inerrancy of scripture, this is a fantastic book. Cosmic Codes is a great overview of cryptography, information theory, etc. that support the veracity of the Bible. If you are really looking for a deep dive into any of these particular subjects, well...it has a good bibliography.
Demerits aside, this book should be on every Christian's shelf.
One of the thickest books by Chuck Missler whose defense background and scientific mind I appreciate. Only after I finished my own book "THE DIVINE CODE from 1 to 2020 (the Meaning of Numbers)" did I realize his influence over my own work.
Chuck's book does not deal specifically with numbers per se, but has numerical evidence supporting his ministry tag line: "The BIble is an integrated message system sent from another space-time dimension."
My "1 to 2020" book explores the fingerprint of God on numbers. The book covers the meaning of significant numbers and patterns from 1 to 2020, including end-of-the-world speculations that may go beyond 2020. Http://2020Book.org
I've listened to a lot of Chuck Missler's messages, so a lot of this was review for me--but there were some really interesting nuggets in there (as with all of his messages too). I could see what held the book together thematically, but because many of the subjects were only very loosely connected, it almost felt like it could have been a series of blog posts. I probably could have done without a lot of the earlier chapters on code breaking as I never saw the relevance later, unless it was a setup for gematria which didn't show up until quite a while later. What was new to me were a lot of his mentions of the Kabbalah (never knew what that was before), the concepts of how the speed of light might be slowing down and implications of that, and a few nuggets of biblical insight in his chapters on the "holographic" nature of scripture. Missler was definitely "out there" with his ideas, but they were never unfounded, and he sure did his homework!
In an age where technology is at a peak, they are able to study the Bible like never before. Everyone puts God in a teeny tiny box and this book will blow your box to smithereens.
The Bible is incredible and has predicted nearly all major historical future events, people in power, and so much more. The further you look into Jesus and his works, the more you will find and the harder it is to wrap your head around. But that’s where we should all be right? Daily challenging our view on Jesus and learning and seeing him a little bigger and better each day.
Very intriguing, but a bit technical. I loved the information that Mr. Missler gives. However, this is not light reading. He was a very intelligent man and his knowledge of physics and the Bible is amazing. I will need to read it again to grasp all the concepts.
