Question everything you think you know... Sophia Weis and her husband of three years, Michael, were married right out of college. Their whirlwind courtship was happy, fulfilling, and full of joy and togetherness. After college, Michael got an excellent job with a large corporation which enabled them to buy a good home in a nice neighborhood near the city. They lived a perfect life. Until they didn't. Michael, unbeknownst to his doting wife, had made powerful and strange enemies - enemies that would stop at nothing to bend her to their will, even going so far as to kidnap her when he was away and brainwash her into their strange, powerful, and sexually depraved cult. For a purpose much grander than Michael – or Sophia - ever dreamed possible...
This is yet another one that's knocked out the park by Alexa Nichols. This is another dark tale told that weaves fantasy with dark reality and does an awesome job of doing that. The story takes you one way, only to swing you back into a different direction that you had no idea you were going to go in and it leaves you at a point where you're looking back and going, wait, when did the ride end and what in the world just happened, but in a very very good way. This is another dark tale that weaves intrigue, drama, horror, with a swig of the paranormal. I just found out that I've been reading these books out of order and that all of her other books build off of each other. I'm about to go back and start from the top. It totally changes the depth of the stories when you find out that there's this one thing that happened in this other book that FURTHER explains something that happens in the book that you're currently reading. For instance. Meil.......
The rating here is more due to the fact that this book was not what I really expected it to be. It is kind of a crap shoot with Alexa Nichols and the types of stories she writes. Some are very fun and sexy, some are pretty dark and explore sex in more of a twisted way, and sometimes she straddles that line in which she makes something that is wrong be sexy as well (this is by far the hardest thing she does). This book fall more into the twisted aspect of sex and at no point was I even remotely turned on by what was happening. So going into this book expecting some exciting sexual encounters and not getting it, automatically lowers my rating. That doesn't necessarily mean this is a bad book. There are very interesting aspects to this story and the Alexa Nichols world in general. We find out about Ellen's mother and father in this story. I do really feel sorry for this family though, after what happened to Ellen's grandmother (Sophia's mother), then to find out what Sophia went through, and then to know what Ellen went through in Paying her debts. What the hell is going on with this family? Is there some kind of pheromone they give off to end up in these situations. I think I need to take a break from this series for a while or stick to the newer stuff that seems a little more ....light?...or fun?.... but not so dark.
Snooping and downloading what's not yours can have big consequences. Michael innocently found and downloaded something from his company that he hid from his wife, Sophia, just before an unexpected, extended trip abroad. Sophia’s friendly childhood nerd unknowingly discovers what it was even though he did not make sense of it at first. This download alerted certain individuals who would stop at nothing to eliminate this exposure and Sophia will pay the price with her body. Will her mind survive abrupt change in her life, her status? Alexa Nichols weaves a tale blended with conspiracy theories, erotic horror, and a touch of the paranormal. Cheyanne Humble’s presentation made for an enjoyable listen.
Another great and interestingly dark Alexa Nichols story that I have listened to and this had me on the edge of my seat with Sophia and her life with dealing with a cult.
Yes, for an great Alexa Nichols story where this gives you the great graphic sex scenes and a hard to read subject matter that will shock the viewer and keep you engaged! This is a really great story and not for the weaken soul who wouldn't read a story that will dramatize them emotionally.
