Anna Durand is a bestselling, multi-award-winning author of contemporary and paranormal romance. Her books have earned bestseller status on every major retailer and wonderful reviews from readers around the world. But that’s the boring spiel. Here are some really cool things you want to know about Anna!
Born on Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, Anna grew up moving here, there, and everywhere thanks to her dad’s job as an instructor pilot. She’s lived in Texas (twice), Mississippi, California (twice), Michigan (twice), and Alaska—and now Ohio.
As for her writing, Anna has always invented stories in her head, but she didn’t write them down until her teen years. Those first awful books went into the trash can a few years later, though she learned a lot from those stories. Eventually, she would pen her first romance novel, the paranormal romance Willpower, and she’s never looked back since.

WICKED IN A KILT (Hot Scots #2) by Anna Durand is an extremely steamy contemporary romance! It seems all the MacTaggart brothers are wickedly hot and irresistible in their kilts.
Aidan MacTaggart has decided to come to America to find himself a wife. His brother, Jamie is now happy and settled and he wants that for himself. He intends to follow every step his brother took to find his own American bride.
Calli Douglas has come out of her self-imposed five year seclusion to be in her cousin’s wedding. Calli mistakes Aidan for the stripper that is supposed to be preforming at her cousin’s bachelorette party. Well he was in a kilt and too beautiful to be true. What she does not expect is her instant attraction. Callie has sworn off love and romance and is bound by a promise to someone else, but everything changes when faced with one very determined Scot.
Callie and Aidan are both instantly attracted, but because each harbors a large secret that could destroy their budding relationship completely, the pace of their relationship is slow and steady. Both have many obstacles not just with their new relationship, but with trust issues, past relationships and family that I feel this author handled very well. The sex scenes are frequent, extremely hot and explicit. This is one determined Scot out to seduce his American beauty!

Calli thinks the hot man in the kilt is a stripper for a bachelorette party, but when she realizes her mistake, she knows she is really attracted to Aiden. Determined not to get involved with anyone while her marriage on paper has not been dissolved yet, she returns to her Michigan cabin.
Aiden has come to America to find a wife, and thinks Calli is it for him. He follows her to Michigan and they quickly fall in love despite a bumpy courtship full of mishaps. Calli can't see how she and Aiden will be together, but soon she is unwilling to accept anything else.
I received an arc of this delightful romance in exchange for an honest review, and now I plan on reading everything else from this author. The modern man in a kilt story has a lot of appeal and the sexy second chance for Calli adds to a story filled with humor and chemistry.
I have reached a moral quandary--a relationship dilemma--a marital quagmire. Feel free to read this and help me decide if she was committing adultery or not. She married a "friend" to help them stay in the country. So a marriage of convenience. The marriage was never consummated. But she is legally married on paper...well ignoring the marriage fraud, she is legally married. If she has hot sex with another man, would that be adultery?
This review is based on the ARC provided by the author and/or the publisher via AXP in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is the second book in the Hot Scots series. The reader doesn’t need to read each book in the series if it’s not possible. Each book is a standalone with recurring characters that are secondary within the plot. Reading each book will enhance reading pleasure but is not necessary.
I like the fact that the author didn’t follow the same formula with this book that she had with her previous book. Sometimes with a series, I find that the first book is terrific but then I get bored with the books that come after because it’s the same repetitive story line. The reader will not find that with this series. Of course, the author has a writing pattern that makes her stories her, what I am saying is that the same storyline won’t be repeated with each book, and I really find that refreshing.
I like that Calli has two rambunctious puppies that are her pets. I love animals and Im glad that Ms. Durand’s characters do too.
Calli is too funny. She can be shy and reserved one minute, but then when the situation forces her, she can be assertive the next. She’s young and doesn’t know how to ask for help. I know she had a lot of responsibilities she had to take on, but she could have asked someone for help when she needed it. I still like her though. She has a vulnerability the touches my heart.
Aiden is just so sweet; he wants to find a wife and thinks that if he does what his brother did when finding his happily ever after, that it will work for him as well. He soon finds out that what works for one person, doesn’t always work for someone else, and Calli lets him know what works and what doesn’t.
Aiden also doesn’t put up with any crap either, and knows when to walk away from a situation. I want to find a guy like Aiden. Tough yet sweet, hot and built, yeah, that works for me.
These two characters made for some interesting reading and in the best way possible. Give this series a try, and remember, the reader doesn’t have to start with the first book if they don’t want to. I don’t believe the reader will be disappointed.
Ms. Durand writes an enthralling story. I could not believe the book was over in what felt like a moment; the hours just flew by. Aiden is a dream come true for any woman especially if you love a man in a kilt. I highly recommend the writing of Ms. Durand and Wicked in a Kilt but be warned you will find yourself addicted and want your own Hot Scot. Four weeks with Aidan MacTaggert? Ahem! Hello? Calli, Calli, Calli… give in already! It’s not every day you stumble upon a story about an out-of-work librarian living in a cozy cabin in the woods whose life is turned upside down by a charmingly wicked Scot on a mission. But that’s exactly the setup we have here.
Calli has got some serious rules: no sex, no love, and definitely no marriage. Fair enough, I get it. A painful past can leave anyone a bit gun-shy about romance. But when Aidan “Don Juan” MacTaggert struts into her life with his irresistible charm and cheeky Gaelic banter, those walls should have started crumbling right away, but her self doubts kept getting in the way.
Aidan is a different story. Determined to woo Calli in just four weeks, he’s ready to break all of her rules the moment he sets foot in her life. I mean, this guy is roguish and utterly lovable, and his attempts to seduce Calli are chuckle-worthy. Credit where it’s due, he comes off as sincere, and his dirty talk? Let’s just say it adds a fun layer to his character. And how sweet it is to see a man who values family.
However, as much as I wanted to root for this budding romance, I found myself hitting some bumps along the road. There’s something to be said for character development, and this story felt a bit repetitive with its cycles of secrets, steamy sex, and Calli’s persistent “no.” As much as I enjoyed the initial banter and flirtation, I started to feel like I was stuck in a loop.
Don’t get me wrong; I’m a fan of the MacTaggert clan and have read some of their previous stories. But with this pair, I just couldn’t connect. Even the adorable puppies thrown in for good measure couldn’t save the day.
In the end, I judged this book by it’s yummy cover and while the premise had promise and Aidan truly is a character worth rooting for, my patience wore thin with Calli’s constant wall-building. Yes, there is a happy ending, but, unfortunately, it was a chore getting there.
When giving your word sometimes things happen and it may be hard to keep it. When you add love to the mix it gets complicated as it does for Calli when she meets one hot Scott in a kilt that gets her in over her head when she mistakes him for someone else. I have to say I knew what was coming and as it played out I laughed myself silly. My mouth even hung open a time or two. This was a fun read that held my attention with some very hot steam that lit up my world. I loved the drama, the humor and the hot sex.
There is nothing like telling a person no to get them hot on your trail. Aidan wants a wife and comes to America to find her. OH he found her but she isn’t interested she doesn’t want anything to do with sex, love or marriage. Aidan is one determined man who isn’t going to take no for an answer. What this leads to is one very interesting story with a great plot filled with drama, romance, secrets, humor and love. I really loved the characters from the first page. I loved how Aidan played out the scene when he was mistaken for someone else. The attractions is very strong for both of them from the start, you can fill the pull. The steam is hot and steamy you almost have to fan yourself.
The author grabbed my attention from the first page all the way through to the last. It was a fun read that I thought was well thought, well written with characters I loved. It was a great read that I enjoyed so much I bought the other two books in this series. ********************
In the second book of the series, Lachlan's younger brother Aiden, comes to Chicago to find himself a wife. After Lachlan came for a fling, but found Erica, instead, Aiden thinks it should be easy for him, since he wants a wife. And he finds her, his first evening at the nightclub that Lachlan met Erica. However, Calli Douglas, is not looking for a husband; she has been trying to get rid of one. She has been living in the woods in Michigan, currently unemployed, running out of money, waiting for her "husband" to give her the divorce he promised. Five years ago her parents died in car accident. Neither she or her former Marine brother, Gavin knew that their parents were in deep financial debt. Calli's wealthy friend Rade from Croatia, stepped in to help her. He made her an offer she didn't think she could refuse. He asked her to marry him, so he could get a green card and he would pay her tuition through grad school. The marriage was never consummated and their agreement was to divorce 6 months after he received his green card. However, he keep dodging the processes server and wants to stay married to her. But Aiden recognizes Calli is the one for him and very patiently plans to win her heart. Obstacles, cute dogs, endearing characters and an interesting twist on the green card marriage story. This is a very well written appealing series. I received a free copy but voluntarily reviewed.
It starts out pretty interesting when Aiden is new to America, he came from Scotland to look for a wife. Aidens brother pulls a prank on him by telling him that friday nights are kilt nights at this bar. Friday night comes along and he wears his kilt only to discover that it was a prank and to make matters worse there is a Bachlorette party going on and they think hes the stripper that was hired for their party.
Calli assumes the scottish guy in the kilt is the stripper that was suppose to show up to her cousins Bachlorette party, she is embarressed to find he is not. Her and Aiden have an immediate attraction to one another and he asks her out.
Calli has been hiding a secret from everyone even her closest family for 5 years, she is afraid that getting involved with Aiden will bring that secret out.
Im not a big fan of erotica romance stories, there is waaaaay to much of that and not much of a storyline . If you are a fan of that sort of thing then you would like this story because there is sex like every third page, it was actually starting to get annoying.... I would have liked more character developement and story instead of all that sex.
It could have been a much better story but the story that was there without the sex was pretty good. Thank you for choosing me as a winner of your book... Good luck with your future writings
I'm usually not a fan of the virgin trope but this story made it so much fun. I probably wouldn't have picked this book as a standalone. But I loved the first book in the series, so I got the second. It's very different from the first but that's a good thing as well. You don't want carbon copies, after all. The characters were unique, as was the story. And it was fun all the way through. I loved the way the virgin trope was written in such a different way to the usual formula of the shy, demure wall flower. This time, the FMC was confident, quirky and still had a healthy attitude towards sexuality. To me, that made all the difference. I loved the way the instalove built up so naturally that it never felt immature or contrived, either. And the MMC was super loveable but still extremely sexy. I also liked the supporting characters, the brother and sister of the two MCs and am hoping their story will be in the series, too, because I'm planning to work my way through the entire series. I really love the author's style so much! The one thing I wasn't completely happy with, especially after listening to book 1 with a different narrator, was that the MMC's voice sounded pressed and the recording had a slightly tinny quality to it. But that wasn't terrible, I just noticed it more because I listened to book 1 and 2 back to back.
WICKED IN A KILT is the second book in the Hot Scots series. Each will stand on its own, but it is best if read in the order of release since there are updates on the previous couple.
I loved the parallels between the story of Lachlan and Erica and Aidan’s meeting and romancing of Calli. It is the perfect setup for a family legend to be begun.
There are parallels, but this is not a rewrite, insert different names. In fact, Calli figures out that Aidan is trying to follow in Lachlan’s American footsteps and calls him out on it. Then it becomes a running joke between them all.
I also loved that there were actually two couples paired up in this book. Nope, I’m not telling you who the other couple is. You’ll have to read it to discover it for yourself. I highly recommend that you do read it, by the way. It has heart and humor.
I look forward to reading more from the talented Anna Durand.
Note: while I was given this book as a gifted copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Title: WICKED IN A KILT Series: Hot Scots #2 Category /Genre: Contemporary Romance Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Grammar/editing: D – many errors, some distraction Received from: Anna Durand (as a gifted copy)
I love Calli! Her cousin Tara is due to get married in this book. I love how descriptive Calli's thoughts are. They are so funny. Especially when she steps out of the private room that she's in a party at, to 'get a drink' other than water. Tara sees right through her. What is her real motive for getting that drink? Who is Aiden MacTaggert? Where is he from? What is he doing in the same location as Calli? What happens when Calli heads out to the main room to find someone that the party is waiting on? Oh, I love Aiden's familiy! We get to meet Calli's brother, Gavin in this book too. We get to know him a bit more. I can already see book 3 coming after this. Jamie, Aiden's younger sister is a real treat to meet. There were some unexpected twists in this book that truly had me ready to cry in a couple of spots, but at the same time, we do get our HEA and an idea of what the next book might be like. Enjoy the read!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
Oh my, Aidan just stole my heart! Such a sweet guy, but absolutely smoking hot when he focuses on Calli! I loved that he led with his heart, and he was patient yet determined right from the start. His devotion was oh-so-charming, and his passion was almost overwhelming. Calli is one feisty, sassy woman - I loved her take-charge attitude even though it masked such a wounded heart.
These two are so perfect for each other; their chemistry is strong from the start and you just can't help rooting for them to figure things out. I loved learning the Gaelic slang words and terms of endearment; this author's writing style is so exquisite it was as though you could hear the Scottish brogue out loud as you're reading.
I couldn't put this story down - it was totally captivating, from the wedding in Chicago to the woods of Michigan, all the way to the highlands of Scotland. So much heartache, so many secrets, so much love to overcome it all - just a beautiful reading experience, start to finish. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Wicked in a Kilt is an extremely naughty contemporary romance. It seemed good at first and then became great at the end. The story follows Aidan MacTaggart who has decided to come to American in order to find a wife. Things have gone so good for his brother, Jamie. He is settled down and wants that for himself.
When Calli Douglas comes out of her five-year seclusion in order to be at her cousin wedding she mistakes Aidan MacTaggart for a stripper that is supposed to be performing at her cousin's steamy bachelorette party. The reason is cause he was in a kilt and is honestly such a hottie. Will love bloom between these two?
They are instantly attracted to each other but both have secrets that could spell disaster for their new romance.
Their relationship is built at a reasonable pace and is fun. There are many obstacles in their new relationship and trust issues. There are past relationships that the author did very well.
The sex scenes are frequent and are steamy and detailed as well as graphic.
Holy moley what a book! I mean what could be hotter then a Scott in a Kilt. This book is so well-written and thought out. It has a great flow. This book was not only humorous but also fun to read. This is Calli and Aiden's story. I love how the meet and can see why she thought he was something else. But man his reaction to the bachelorette party was priceless. And man was he a sweetie, checking up on her and talking to cousin to make sure was great. It was hard not to fall for the big burly guy. Oh and her puppies they were sweet. But I love how Gavin changes his tune when Jamie shows up. Bet a book is on that one. But they have problems. Callie is married and her soon to be ex does not want to let her go. And a surprise from his past may rip them apart. Hope they can figure it all out. Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.
Aidan decides to copy his oldest brother Lachlan and find himself a wife in the States; he even goes to the same hook-up bar his brother visited, where Calli's cousin is celebrating her bachelorette party. There is humor and passion. This does stand alone, but reading book #1 beforehand helps the reader understand the references made to how Lachlan met and wooed his wife. Well-written, easy to read in a day. There are explicit sex scenes, but they're not vulgar. I was a bit bothered by Calli's two "puppies" repeatedly jumping up on visitors, being up on the bed pillows, licking everyone's face or any other area of "exposed skin" - but I'm not a dog person. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Omg this book is terrible in a lot of ways, but it’s not NOT entertaining.
The beginning is just her internal slut-shaming thoughts. I need her to learn what feminism is.
Then she’s a virgin who is afraid of kissing a man because that will obviously lead immediately to sex. And like the next chapter she’s having sex with him every second of the day. Sure ok.
I did enjoy the husband-for-citizenship storyline. Even tho he tells her he’s in love with her and she should have known because he… calls her twice a month. Um wow. Men.
I also enjoyed the twist at 85%. Didn’t see that coming.
They fall in love after knowing each other for like 10 days. Omg. Girl. She has no chill.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the Author/Publisher through AXP and here is the review. If you love a man in a kilt you really will enjoy this series. It revolves around Aidan, Lachlans younger brother and Ms. Callie. Calli seems to have gotten herself into a major pickle and is having a hard time getting out of it, and Aidan comes from Scotland to try and find a wife, trying to follow Lachlans adventurous tale from when he visited Chicago on Holiday a few years back. What a wicked tale this ends up to be. Sassy, enlightening and full hot steamy romps in the sack, with a Scot no less. You really have to read this book.
Absolutely fantastic read and who doesn’t like a hot Scot in a kilt. Aidan McTaggart goes to America looking for an American bride just like his brother had done, Callie was in a five year seclusion not wanting love or any kind of relationship goes to her cousins bachelorette party where she see’s Aidan wearing a kilt. Callie thinks that Aidan is the stripper, he’s gorgeous and wearing a kilt anyone would think that he was a stripper. Both have an instant connection but both have secrets that could destroy them even before they start. I loved reading this book, it’s the 2nd book in the series and I can’t wait for the 3rd. Great storyline and characters and I definitely recommend this book.
This is romantic, entertaining and sweet. Aiden is absolutely adorable. He is cocky and confident, yet charming and irresistible. Calli is insecure, stubborn and loyal. I have to say I really loved Aiden, he's so sure he going to get exactly what he wants, yet vulnerable enough to use folklore and ideas that someone else used when they fell in love. And it comes off as sweetly romantic. There is a twist that arises that throws them both for a loop. And there's a romantic twist that is amusing. I can't wait to see what happens to Rory. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
The story was good, but I felt a bit like I was re-reading the first book in a way. I loved Lochlan he was a great character. I was disappointed in the beginning with the Mentioning of a spring swim in Mi which then got turned around to being lake superior, than how cold the water would be but yet she still wore a bikini so she could possibly swim with him. Made no sense at all. It was a lot of back and forth with mixed up ideas. Kind of ruined the first part of the book with that oversight . Then Calli being not only nieve but actually stupid in my opinion. Luckily Lachlan saved the book.
Wicked In A Kilt by Anna Durand is a wicked good read. Ms. Durand has delivered a well-written book. The characters are totally lovable. Calli and Aidan's story is packed with drama, humor and lots of steamy sex. I enjoyed reading Wicked In A Kilt and look forward to reading more from Anna Durand in the future. Wicked In A Kilt is book 2 of the Hot Scots Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I won from Goodreads.
Anna Durand introduces us to another member of the hunky MacTaggart clan when a case of mistaken identity has Aidan MacTaggart meeting Calli Douglas at the famous Dance Ardor club. The instant attraction propels the two of them into a fling that becomes so much more. Calli and Aiden both struggle with the baggage of people from the past so while sexy and fun at times the path to HEA isn't always smooth. If you love instalove stories with smart heroines and sexy heroes this book belongs on your TBR shelf. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
So I absolutely adore this book. I felt like I had a special connection cause I’ve actually been shocked by someone who was in a marriage of convenience and they failed to tell me till it went south for them. But this book Cali was sinking and needed and out he husband had his green card but would let her go. Enter Aidan looking for love and a fresh start for himself he feels like Cali is his fate. This book was emotional, funny, and so full of love.
She comes out of seclusion to go to her cousins wedding and has a funny run in with a very sexy scot in a mistaken identity issue. She has decided men are no longer on her schedule. But he has come to America to find a wife. He wants her but they both have issues to be fixed and are very attracted to each other. It is exciting, enjoyable, mysterious, hot and so much more. I highly recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Aidan is ready for a wife so he's left Scotland to come to the US. His brother found a wife in the US so he's hoping to do the same. When he meets Callie, he feels she might be the one. Callie isn't looking for marriage, let alone a boyfriend but Aidan isn't willing to give up. Another great Hot Scots book. Can't wait to read the next one!
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.
This was a well-written, entertaining book. Cali Douglas has avoided romance for five years. She attends her cousin's wedding and meets Aidan "Don Juan" MacTaggart. Aidan is captivated by Cali and passion ignites between them. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is book 2 in the Hot Scots series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series as well as other books by this author.
