*Sighs* *Lights match* *Watches book burn slowly* I had hope. I really really did thinking maybe this would be one of those rear books where the more u read the better it gets. While I can confirm that no, no this does not never ever ever get better it gets WORSE. So read this at your own risk but be warned that if you really wanna read these books for some strange reason this will be filled with spoilers. So First off we are shoved back into dealing with Evie and Mal who basically for the first like 100 pages just spits cheesy morals at us. Like it's always better together teamwork is best, or it's all about being positive and the list goes on and it's so painful. AND THEY BROKE UP OVER EGGS! EGGS?!?!?!?!?! Now I'm not going to talk about the bit with the underground boy's cause for the first bit that was the only thing that made me keep reading cause I kinda liked that plot though I do have the question as to WHY? and once you do destroy earth you still want people left to rule, ya? Why do you think they would bow to you? Anyway, so we launch an attack on earth sending though some weird monster things. And truth be told I have no idea why people in e.scape are all like "we wanna kill earth" cause I know Mal made it that way at the start but really are they still deciding they hate all humans even after everything??? The answer is no they should not but these books have already proved anything can happen I wouldn't be surprised if a unicorn turned up and saved the day TBH. So Evie went and sulked in her room blaming herself for E.scape reopening and letting monsters into the real world. Somewhere along the line River dies it just kinda happens and then is never seen again and no one really seems to care. Then Evie decides to move, someone pep talks her so she gets up goes into E.scape with Unity while this random army lady is screeching about just blowing it up which would not work no matter what it's a digital portal you can't break coding with bombs unless you break the thing holding the program. That's how I persevered this mess anyway. So Evie runs in a little catfight happens and then she refuses to sacrifice and DIGITAL person to stop this mess. And I was like wait, Evie, what the heck he's not even real he's a hunk of coding gone bad he will come back fine in a few hours surely just throw him into this random room of bright light and get it over with. But NOPE! Unity goes and sacrifices herself, shame Evie this be what you get, it and low and behold it don't work!!! Cause apparently, and this is the worst bit, it needs EVIE to sacrifice herself cause the game was made for her so she needs to die to fix this....... WHY!!!! if her dad loved her why make it so SHE has to die if things go wrong. He made this world to try to save her so why would he ever dream of making her have to die to save it? My guess is Evies lost her mind and decided let's make me a hero and then died, with her mum hand in hand they jumped into a void of glowing lights together how awfully cute. And well-done everything over. And yeah end of book Evie's dead, or maybe she was sending messages to Lionel I think witch further proves my point of that wouldn't kill them but oh well let's just watch this book burn together and never ever talk about this disaster. I greatly apologize to this author, YouTuber who made it but I tried and I couldn't this book....... was not great...... at all.
Username: Uprising is the 3rd and final book in the Username trilogy by Joe Sugg. The username storyline follows a girl named Evie discovering an app her Father made called the E.scape. This app was meant to be a place for Evie to escape for hours on end inside the game but only minutes in real life. After the events of the first book and the escape of the e.scapes outcast in the second it brings us onto the third book. The third book follows Evie, Mallory, Lionel and Jaspar as they try to figure out how the e.scape as ripped portals throughout the world, fight the army coming through it and how to save the world.
Uprising in my opinion was an alright ending to the username trilogy, it left the series open for one's own interpretation but if wanted would allow the author to continue the series. The main things I liked about this books was how it brought a message to the reader that related to the real world, how there was also some typical teenage problems before and the relationships that grew between the characters. I also liked how the book kept me wanting to continue reading. Throughout this book it talks about the idea of how we are to connected to our devices and don’t realises or see anything that happens around us. In the first part of the book we see the Knox (an e.scape outcast left in the real world) noticing these things, partly because they didn’t really realise he was there. Knox decided to put this to a test, he shot someones drone with his bow and arrow and the only thing people were worried about was if someone got it on video. I really thought this speaks of the world now a days because we may go down that same track as we are so fixed on using devices. During this book the world also experiences a total black out, after only 29 days the president of the country the book is set it says we must put devices in our history. For me I thought that he was giving up to easy, but then again at this time there was also a portal that ripped into the world and they were most likely sparked by that too. One of the nice things to see at the start of Uprising was normal typical teenage problems. After the last two books centered around the escape it was nice to see the worry about things other than an app. They were complaining about cleaning up the hall and toilets after their prom/ball, Mallory and Jaspar had broken up and they were trying to ignore but impress each other after as well as Lionel and Evie being stuck in the middle of it. Even when we first see the portals from the escape to the real world we see Evie locking herself away in her room for the majority of the time because she thinks it is all her fault. This showed that even then they were still only human and had consequences to past actions. One of the things I loved about the book was the relationships that grew during the crisis. Evie and Mallory were not where near close during the first and even most of the second book but throughout this one we see both of them getting along, Mallory sort of took Evie under her wing. We also see a good friendship grow between Lionel and Jaspar as well, but more importantly we see the whole gang come together after such tough times. Evie and her Mother also patch things up at the end of the book as well and have a mutual understanding of what they both have to do. One of the things I didn’t like about this book so much was how there was so many deaths and sacrifices. First it was River, then Unity and after that BOTH Evie and her Mum!! This was definitely a downside to the book because after all that has happened it ended with a sacrifice where Evie and Her Mum had to overpower the app by jumping into its core. Evie wouldn’t sacrifice Knox but she would sacrifice both herself and her mother (even though theoretically Know would then die anyway if the whole E.scape dies because he is part of the games code). The only good thing that came out of the sacrifices was the after it was done Mallory and Jaspar took Lionel in and created their new trio. Although all in saying this the ending Lionel gets a message from the E.scape so maybe Evie isn’t gone after all. The message is what I think is left for one's own interpretation because it leaves the book open with so many questions. It also allows the author to be able to continue the series again if he wishes. For me the ending was good as it meant that at least the trio new that there was hope. Other things I found about this book was that the illustrations seemed to be nicer maybe even richer. The drawings to me just seemed to have a nicer finish and looked more effective making me wanting to continue reading. Overall this book was a great ending to the username series. It makes the reader ask questions about our world and the devices we are so attached to. It also leaves the ending with a closed but opening ending, it gives us hope that maybe there is more to come.

Evie decided to put the whole e.scape adventure behind her and focus on her friends, however one character of the digital world stayed on earth, plotting his revenge. facing an uprising on a global scale, with evie's determination and the help of her friends from both worlds, she will try to restore peace at all costs.
four out of five stars wow, what an intense but sad finale. i was certainly not expecting this. it is the best book of the trilogy, there is no denying it. the plot was full of actions (even if it started a bit slow), and the ending is left for one's own interpretation, that's what i find really interesting. the relationship between Evie and her friends is stronger than ever, and that is something worth noticing because there is no romance as the main plot and that is rare guys. i think now more and more books are now focusing on friendship rather than on romantic relationship.
however i was sooooooooooo disappointed because River died so quickly, i still can't understand why. i was hoping to see more of him but no.
it is a reminder that we spend a lot of time on our phone and computer, that we do not always pay attention to what is happening around us. so thanks Joe and his crew for the ride, it was nice to discover another world.
This series has improved with every book and I love to see that development. This was even better than the other two and it was more action packed and the storyline and the characters and the writing, everything was just better in this one. The ending night be my favorite part of all three books, it had a great meaning to it and it was also Ipren for your own thoughts, just what an ending should be like. This trilogy has been a fun Journey and I’m sad to see it go.
The more that I think about it, the more I think that this book just wasn't for me. The artwork is solid but I did not enjoy the characters or the even the world the Username series is set in. Not the worst that I've read.
Thought I might review all of them on this last book, seeing as i'm late to the party anyway, and no one really cares:
Evie = Okay. Not great, but definetly more so than the rest of them. Actually has some suspense. Regenerated = Not a lot of character growth. Mallory changes her hairdo for no reason. Apparantly I'm supposed to care about Jaspar(caspar) now. I don't. It was kind of amusing that one of the files on Evie's computer is called "J5ugg". Uprising = this is just a clusterfuck of _why_. The drama in this book derives from a blackout. The highlight of this book was definetly them writing Joe into it for one page. That shit was hilarious. They also did it twice.
I thought this was a good way to end it. I gave it two stars because the writing is awkward and the story is very cheesy. Also the way the characters talk, especially Mallory, does not seem very realistic. I wish the story matched up with the art because the art in this book is very good.
I wanted to read this book because I have followed Joe Sugg since the earlier days of YouTube. I read his first book back in 2017 and read the second book earlier this year. So I decided it was time to carry on with the series.
The main character is a young girl in high school called Evie. She is a bit of an outcast at school, and she is feeling very lonely. Her cousin, Mallory is the Queen Bee at the school. Evie dreams of a place of safety. All she wants to do is escape from reality. Evie’s father has died and created a world for her. They have just come back from a very dangerous trip from the second book, but someone has followed them outside of e.scape and is determined to rule Earth and to destroy it. Evie must try to save her world and the world that her father created for her. Will she be able to save both worlds? What will she sacrifice? Where will she end up? This is a young adult science fiction graphic novel.
I really enjoyed this graphic novel. This was the first series I read and it was a quick read but I really enjoyed the storyline. I love that Joe managed to add some easter eggs about himself into this book and that Evie and Mallory both have a character development arc. I liked that they was more action and end-of-the-world drama in this book. I gave it 4 stars because it was an easy read and I hope that Joe will write some more graphic novels in the future and maybe return to this world as the book did end on a little cliffhanger and I do have some questions about that.
MISSILE CAGE. THEY TRIED TO USE A CAGE WITH MISSILES TIED TO IT TO DESTROY A FUCKING PORTAL.
I feel like that's all I need to say but I'll continue. I feel bad but this was really bad. The plot was so thin. Evie's mum helps the bad guys hack the E.scape world core to protect Evie??? By letting them get to Evie??? Knox has a grudge against Evie because what?? They weren't allowed to kill Oak???? Because they had to go home after??? Knox's motivations are nonsensical. So is basically everyone else in the book. Mallory and Jasper breakup??? For no discernible reason. The book acts like Evie and her mum have made up but they didn't. How digital world make portal? We will never have the rules explained. Also the ending is such a cop out lol with Evie dying but then the message to Lionel.
Also it feels a bit sexist. The way Mallory handles the breakup feels a bit sexist and General Salt feels like the butt of a misogynistic joke. Which is weird that might just be me. I don't like how either of them are written though.

The series comes to an end in the same fashion as the other two books which is to say flat. The artwork continues to be technically good but completely lacking in life. The story is better than the first book but not as good as the second. I hear some people say the ending came as a surprise but I saw it coming a mile off. There are a couple of little twists that were fun as well as the author self insert that I really should have expected. All in all this series is just OK and as I said before if it was written by anyone else it would have gone by unnoticed (or more likely never got published) but as it was written by Sugg it got an awful lot of attention. This has lead to a lot of extreme reviews, both negative and positive, based purely on people opinions of Sugg. Taking the books completely separately from the author they are OK, not great but also not a total waste of time.
A mediocre conclusion to a mediocre trilogy. My thoughts on this book are much the same as my attitude towards the first two in the series- it wasn’t bad, but was nothing remarkable. This book in particular was incredibly cheesy and slightly more boring to read than the other two, and I still felt no connection to any of the characters. However, I liked that there was less of a focus on e.scape in this book and that the story was set more in the real world. I felt the ending was satisfactory and, whilst risky, I didn’t care enough about the book or characters to criticise the choice to kill off the protagonist. I would continue to recommend this book to maybe younger readers, particularly fans of action.

For sure the weakest out of the trilogy. I feel like we spent so much time on Mallory and Jaspar whining about being broken up when in reality they broke up over freaking breakfast. Like, c'mon. The characters acknowledged it was a stupid reason to break up, but Sugg just went with it for some reason.
I didn't like the way Evie and her mother's relationship was in this book. Evie has never really known her, but still accepts her mother choosing a FICTIONAL WORLD over a life with her own daughter. And the way the mother spoke about Evie like she actually cared about her really threw me off, and I just didn't understand where their good relationship came from.

I’ve got to give credit where it’s due and applaud Joe for not churning out some garbage autobiography or shitty memoir that all the other youtubers were handing out at this time. let’s not even mention his sister’s “how to make sandwiches” page in her diy book she come out with.
but criticising it in comparison to other graphic novels, it fell flat. the characters weren’t likeable and the plot didn’t feel very daring and dangerous. solid concept, poor execution
I feel a little indifferent about this instalment, I was definitely expecting more, although the graphics and illustrations were undeniably well drawn. I thought it was an interesting choice for Joe Sugg to give himself a cameo as well...
I accidentally bought the wrong book and bought the last instead of the first but even tho I didn't understand it at first but I quickly understood the story line and what was going on. I hope to soon read the first 2 books and I have high hopes for them to!
I love them all. Such a good story! There are life lessons, sacrifice, adventure and action. Its the 2nd graphic novel series I've read and I love it so much. If you haven't read this series yet you should read it.
DNF @30% Ahh, I just couldn’t really get into this! I think it being the 3rd book in the series didn’t really help, (lol oops) and also I don’t think I’m the right demographic really. Oh well, I will keep trying with graphic novels!
Read this book purely to find out how the series ended, and it actually ended quite well. I’m not really a huge reader of graphic novels, but enjoyed this series
