• Me enamoraran.

The text dare de Amy Sparling serie First love shorts libro 1

This was okay.
* Jess and her friend Abigail find a piece of paper in the dog park with the words 'party', 'Max', and a phone number.
* Abigail dares Jess to message the number, and then Jess ends up texting the person who replies for hours.

- This was okay, I thought it quite bad that Jess immediately assumed that Max was the one lying though, when it could easily have been the fake girlfriend. She didn't even trust her own judgement of him, but believed the words of a girl she'd never met, with no proof that the girl was telling the truth. I would have expected Max to have admitted it when accused if he really did have a girlfriend. He didn't seem like the sort to be double-crossing girls though.
- Jess was also pretty lucky that Max was who he said he was, he could have been a drug dealer, or a woman, or an old man, or a 13-year-old boy. The possibilities are endless.

I was lucky to get a free ebook copy of this super cute short story this week.

It's a romantic and funny Teen/YA story which is kind of cliche, but if you know me I love my cliches. Sometimes you just need a lovey-dovey story with a happy end to get you away from reality. Although some parts of this story were just too good to be true it successfully connected to a realistic world, where not everything is always sunny side up.

It's really the little parts that count. I also really love how this story at least tries to make the reader focus more on the inner parts than just the looks of a person. 'Cause in the end, it's the heart that tells you to go with your gut. ;D

A quick, funny and cute teen romance that has one of these 'everybody's jealous of' perfect 'first met' stories of a couple! *bighearts*

what a cute story it has been. it would be nice if we could have more of jess and max but i guess it was best to just leave their story there. brings me back to the days when texting is fun and thrilling and sweet.

When I reached the last page, I was hoping for more.

It was short, sweet and fluffy. I guess what made it work was because of the length. If this was a novel, it could be a bit boring. But, then again, I could get Max pov.

This was a nice read while I'm down with flu. A bit corny for me, but, it kept me smiling.

Just have to throw that in for good measure.

Busy days have come! With other books I have to read, shows and movies that I want to watch, and some personal stuff going on, I am so happy to pick these short stories written by Amy Sparling! I am totally looking forward to reading the rest in the collection as a breather and as a break with my other stuff.

Anyway, let's get on with the review.

My first thought when I finished the book is "cliched insta-love". Well, this is a short story so it stays true to it's genre. What I do love though, is how simple yet it still makes you giddy type of story. I like how the characters can be so well-written with just a small word count.

I have to admit, I kind of wished there was more to it though. It has a lot of potential to be more than just a short story. I even imagined beyond the ending. And I would definitely read on if there's more.

Like I said, I am totally looking forward to reading more of these short stories.

I really enjoyed this story! It's a cute, clean young adult romance. Jess is stuck at home for the weekend babysitting her little brother while her parents go out of town. The day before they leave her best friend and her find a number with a name on it and she is dared to text it. She does and it isn't until after her parents have left that she gets a text back. They text back and forth all day and hit it off. There's a little wrench thrown in but everything gets worked out. This story is a quick, short read and more of a happy for now. It's really cute and was just a fun read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

What a fun concept this is. This is the first book in a series of small novellas all about falling in love for the first time. This was a sweet little story that was a very quick read. If anything it was the perfect intro to a story but it held you captive the entire time. The characters are easy to like, and yes there was a little bit of drama which was fun, and I have to say I really enjoyed the ending. I was worried that this would leave me hanging but it actually is a very cute little short something that just makes you smile at the end. I look forward to reading more of these.

Im normally not one for short stories but this book has changed my opinion. The author manages to give you all the feels in a short amount of pages. The characters are well written and believable with a flow that makes you smile the whole time. She was able to pack some much emotion into the pages that you feel you get a full length novel. I can see me picking this book up anytime i need a feel good romance in a small window of time.

I really enjoyed this book. I read this short story within half an hour and wasn’t once bored. I really liked Max and Jess. I liked the friendship they built through texting one another.
I really liked the scene where Max and Jess met in person. That was my favourite scene.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a nice read.

Excited!!

I love the whole concept of this short story! The Text Dare reminded me of a misdial from a landline that ends up being the best conversation you ever had. (Yeah yeah, comments like that probably show I'm old-ish lol) But I could see someone actually texting a random number on a dare. I'm excited to continue reading the rest of the shorts in this series.

I was in the mood for a quick, light read and that’s what I got with Amy Sparling’s The Text Dare. This is the first book in a young adult novella “series” from Sparling and I’ll be reading the rest for sure, next time I’m looking for a guaranteed enjoyable novella.

What I enjoy with Sparling’s work is that she’s able to write the teenage first person so believably. I’m no longer a teenager, but from what I remember a lot of the main character’s inner thoughts and interactions felt familiar and realistic. Sparling’s characters aren’t too mature for where they’re supposed to be in life, and they also weren’t too immature and kiddish. I appreciate this when reading a Young Adult book.

I also think that with a novella based almost completely on text interaction, there was more meet to it than expected. The characters were able to develop through these conversations, just like face to face dialogue could have done, and these were characters that hadn’t even met when their conversations started.

I’m curious what the next novella has in store for me. Maybe it’ll be my next weekend read.

Cute Read

This was a very cute and short read. I must admit that there were a few cringy moments and it seemed rather cliche, but I’d definitely read it again. This is a great read for the 14-16 year old age group.

I've had this sitting in my kindle forever and finally decided to give it a read! My favorite part of the story was the actual text messages between the two main characters. While the rest of the story was cute, I felt like the final meeting fell flat somehow.
