Following in his courageous father’s footsteps, Police Officer Mike Tucker takes his career very seriously. Relationships have always been kept on the back burner until he meets Brex, the handsome college student who lives in his complex.
*** A man with a difficult past ***
When Brexton Doyle offers to let Mike stay at his place, he immediately wonders if that’s a big mistake. Yes, his attraction for the sexy cop is off-the-charts intense, but he knows rejection far too well and isn’t willing to risk being hurt.
But facing a crisis forces the two men to reveal their true feelings for each other.
> > Judging a Book by it's Cover < < Standard fare, cop in uniform photo with red and blue lit-up lights in the background. The dark background blends into the dark uniform. The Vinyl sleeve cuffs give it a stripper edge. I was not provided a synopsis with this ARC, but only know this is the last of the Mockingbird Place stories.
> > Looking Deeper < < POV ~> Alternating first-person perspectives, clearly marked and easy to define.
Mockingbird Place is still teeming with support and love from the familiar, familial tenants. Most of the cast from the previous seven (six books, plus a novella) stories are present in some form or another here. Officer Mike was staying with Brex temporarily, while water damage was being repaired in his own unit. Fourth of July was upon them and a celebration at the park provided quite the opening to this book. Both Mike and Brex were dealt some pretty heavy family drama but remain glued to one another's sides. Their relationship felt more like supportive comrades than romantic, although - once the line was crossed - there definitely was plenty intimate moments. I kind of had a hard time believing that everyone (DPD, FBI, etc) just readily accepted Brex just because he was with Mike. Sensitive information and witness interviews should come with a level of certain clearance or at least a background check. Likewise, crossing police barriers or actively participating in a takedown... just not buying that it was so easily accepted. However - I was given an ARC copy and some content may still change and this area MAY be addressed before the final copy is released. There was, for me, only some mild predictability. The conflicts were easily resolved. The ending was a little abrupt and only provided the vague sense of completion. Although this was the final book of the series, I did not feel like it provided a series conclusion. Overall, I have enjoyed the series and these characters. I would recommend it to those who've not yet read the series. Although it may claim it can stand alone, one would GREATLY benefit from reading this series in order. Though this may be the end of Mockingbird Place, I hope to have the opportunity to learn more about the residents of Cardinal Gardens. . I normally like this series, but this one was not my favorite. Honestly, I probably would've given it a lower rating, but I liked the characters so I gave it a bump. There are spoilers ahead so stop reading now if you don't want to spoil it..... My main problem with this book had to do with the police procedure of all things. In no world would a cop ever ever let a civilian tag along on a case. The thought of it was ludicrous!! This doesn't just happen once, but no it happens a couple of times. Then he gives him his spare gun. Seriously, he probably at the least would be suspended or fired. The icing on the cake was the Chief and the whole department acted like it was great and no big deal. In the end they get commendations from the mayor. 😕 I understand the passerby being heroic is one thing, but an officer of the law being that reckless when lives are on the line was deplorable to me. The whole father on his deathbed apologizing was a bit too cliche for me. Also the mother's complete 180 from being a frigid unfeeling witch to loving mother was a little too unbelievable for me to bear.

I've really enjoyed this series and I think Mike and Brexton's story is a great addition. This is an action packed book for the Mockingbird group, but one that finally leads Mike and Brexton together.
Mike is a police officer and while out at the fair with his sister and her friend, shots are fired sending everyone into a panic. When he can't find his sister and her friend once things settle a bit, Mike and Brexton, there giving Mike support, find themselves thrown into a human trafficking ring, and they are determined to stop it.
This story has a lot going on, the focus isn't just the relationship between Mike and Brexton but that's there too. These two are there for each other during the tough moments, and it's in those moments these two really learn what they mean to each other. This book didn't feel as 'romancy' as some of the others but I did enjoy it, I liked that it was a bit of a different road to love. I also enjoyed getting to see the other Mockingbird residents as well.
I definitely enjoyed this book and this series and would definitely recommend it!
The latest in the Mockingbird Place series is The Cop in Unit B, and like all the others full of everyday heroes and regular people who all pull together to make the world a better place. It's a fast read, full of the people we have come to love in this series. There's no place like home and for this group of people that is Mockingbird Place with it's quirky owners, tenants and a great mix of characters. This book concentrates on Brexton and Mike and their developing relationship. Circumstances around these two keep throwing them curves first one then the other but continue to be there for each other and because they do they are also spot in the middle of the biggest crime ring bust in their area. I love this series and hope their are more to come.
A great book for these guys for unit B. Mike and Brexton have had a thing for each other in previous book. They have each others backs as drama situations arise and the crew of Mockingbird are ta help too but this helps them to come together as a couple. I loved the action and drama in this and romance blooms. Officer Mike lived at Mockingbird Place, with 10 units everyone getting along together. Sharing with Brexton was a savour when his unit flooded. During celebrations at the park gunfire explodes leaving Mike sister and friend missing. And then drama with families happen.
Brex has always felt a strong connection with Mike when they share the same unit they connected completely! Their feelings grow at a very fast pace but they have to deal with what is happening around them. Child trafficking that they are both trying to solve also there is more of sadness & love ( plentiful! ) Forgiveness between families was so well written.. A beautiful read & beautifully written.
Exciting and full of action, but just not believable
I have to say that while I enjoyed Brax and Mike's story, and loved the excitement and action, the complete and utter lack of believable police procedure was off-putting. It just wasn't believable for Brax to be allowed to be in attendance for everything he was invited in, nor would a police chief discuss an active investigation over a speakerphone.
Because of this, I can only say that the whole was only ok.
The Cop in Unit B is very well written. Mike and Braxton story was exciting with a lot of ups and downs, and very emotional. I would definitely recommend this book and the series to all readers. Kris Cook has envision a wonderful place that all readers would love to visit!
A nice addition to the series. Mike is a cop and he's rooming with Brex while his apt. is being renovated. Both are attracted to each other but don't want to take the first step. Mike's sister is kidnapped and Brex steps in to give him support and their attraction ratchets up the more issues they face.
I normally love this series but this book didn't do anything for me. the book didn't show how they bonded. their 'love' seemed to be based on the way each other looked. there didn't seem to be much conversation going on between them just action.
There was lots of drama and upset through the whole story. The relationship just seemed to happen between the men but yet it felt like it worked for them.
I loved the cop in unit b it was such a wonderful story
It was so amazing being back at mockingbird place I was glad to be back there
Mike and brexton stole my heart from beginning to end I could not put the book down
I went through so many emotions in mike and brextons journey I laughed I cried and fell completely in love
Ever word in the cop in unit b were powerful meaningful beautiful and intense
I really connected with mike and brexton I didn't want the story to end
It was also wonderful to catch up with the other characters from previous books
A mockingbird place series is one if my favorite series I would recommend it to everyone you are guaranteed laughter fun heartbreaking moments but also heartwarming moments hotness and a beautiful journey and a special meaning which is family and with Kris cook and this is exactly what you get
Thank you Kris Cook for giving us this beautifully written series
Kris does it again with his great addition to the Mockingbird Place series. I am a huge fan of this series and was super excited to see the next one becoming available.
This story revolves around Mike Turner and Brexton Doyle. Mike is a police officer who finds himself in the middle of a human trafficking ring. Thanks to a busted water pipe, he find himself the new roommate of Brexton Doyle. He's had a crush on Brexton for a while, but hasn't found the courage to confront him about it yet. Brexton is a college student with a career decision to make. He isn't sure which way he wants to go, but finds himself helping Mike with his current case.
Their is adventure, suspense, intrigue, turmoil, and lots of yummy goodness too! It's never boring at Mockingbird Place and the family vibe is stronger than ever.
We don't see a lot from most of the other residents of Mockingbird Place except for S & M, but they are mentioned here or there with references to how they are doing or brief glimpses of them.
Written as a multi pov with a HEA. This is book 7 of the series but can be read as a stand alone. But let's be honest here....the series is so awesome, you won't want to read just one. Seriously.
Awesome character development, fantastic story line, awesome descriptions to details, and engaging dialogue. All in all, a wonderful read.
