“Unstoppable Arsenal (Full Metal Superhero #2)” delivers another five hours of wonderfully silly, energetically narrated fun for the series!

“Unstoppable Arsenal” is not lesfic; but it continues the adventures of MC Amelia, her friends with the Arizona Diamondbacks superhero team, and her many, many supervillain enemies.

Book One in the series, “Arsenal”, introduced a fantastic alternate-earth where federal and state government sponsored superpowered teams fight supervillains, many of whom are of course intent on world domination. In Book Two, the author adds greek gods and aliens to the story, just to be sure that we don’t get bored!

“Unstoppable Arsenal” is narrated from Amelia’s POV, and the narrator really sounds like she’s having fun reading the book to us. This book is just as much fun as the first book, and I can’t wait for the third audiobook to be released next month. If you like lighthearted campy superhero books with lots of humor, you’ll enjoy this series! Highly recommended with 4.5*, rounded up because I”ll definitely listen to “Unstoppable Arsenal” again! Currently, there are five books available as part of what the author calls an “ongoing series”. Two of the books are available as audiobooks, and the third will be released July 31, 2018.

Amelia is back!

After fourteen long years of work, she finally knows where her parents are. But it soon turns out that far more is at stake than just rescuing her parents... For example: Can she can she save the world from a megalomaniac who can turn friend and foe alike against her?

Amelia keeps going at it, and its so much fun to read about it. With her mission's end in sight, her romance slowly progressing and new friends everything seems to go just fine..... And then.... BAM, BOOM ACTION. And it only keeps going, with geek and nerd references everywhere the fun remains, now with an extra serving of action. Add to that a whole slew of new inventions and sinister enemies and you get this delight of a Superhero novel.

If you like the first, you will like this one as well!!!

The first book was tolerable if not good.

The second book took that ball and runs with it... Right into a fence post that was clearly marked and painted yellow...With blinking lights.

The plot is there. it revolves once again around the MC being too stupid to breathe and watch TV at the same time.

Everything else is spoilers and i can't be bothered to spell out all the ways the plot would have been 200 pages shorter (250 page book, that's right) if any of her "friends" (they are her friends but she is not theirs) had been talked to the smallest bit and/or anything had been seen by anyone with the IQ of a baby squirel suffering a concussion.

Pass and done with the series.

Good story....

I enjoyed this book as much as the first one but the editing is horrible, jumbled sentences that don’t make any sense so it pulls you out of the story so you can figure out what’s going on, sometimes I could and sometimes I couldn’t.
The story itself was great and I’ll keep reading the series and hope it gets better.

Again, a weak, just barely 3-star rating. I found this book to be minutely better than book 1 only in that it risked being a little more edgy and the battle scenes were somewhat better than in the first book. However, it still reads far below anything I'd call 'adult' and is quickly done. 2 reading sessions, 2 books, too bad...

As with the first chapter, this offer remains at best a superficial and risk-free exercise in tired clichés with little originality to offer. Almost every character is an obvious derivative (or copy) of the standard Marvel / DC crew and we even get to spend some time in the X-Men AND Justice League headquarters to boot. Again, there is also still a very uncomfortable YA-like brevity to the text with no elegance whatsoever. I have to stress that the books are populated by really very basic prose, made worse by the fact that this is a 20-year old CHILD that is running around telling things from her perspective throughout. Her love-story is border-line icky if you want it put in teenspeak (I was going to say pedophillic but that would be going too far) and her friendships come across as boring Nickelodeon Teen or Disney quality schtick more than true relationships. I have no trouble with a female protagonist but this was just too much. Gag me with a space laser dude!

What this all strikes me as is a really average comic - no, not one of the classics of the golden age at all - that you might have picked up in the 60s or 70s, only it obviously lacks the classic artististic contributions that went along with those great stories. Think back to when titles like Batman, Superman and even the Avengers were more often dull, B-movie-esque rags than true hero fiction as we know them today.

There is no edginess to this Universe at all and the origin of the entire 'world' is too quickly throw out there with little real consequence factored in. And as in book 1, things happen quickly including changes in national policies, recovery from injury, inventing impossible technologies, you name it. What I think it could use are a few f-bombs, sweaty sex scenes and other ADULT contributions, along with a lot more actual intrique. Again, it comes across as a very average, middle-of-the-pack hero story that if and when it is building up to something bigger (and it goes ahead and spoils any surprise there as to what is coming), I doubt it will be all that much more interesting.

Well, I promised I'd read 2 of the series, and I did. Thank you Kindle Unlimited for making it worth every penny! However, unless we're going to somehow bring in blatant Wolverine or Deadpool quality characters... heck, I'd even be satisfied if someone wanted to give a few lines of Dark Knight vs. Joker drivel ... I'm done! Good luck with the aliens! Ooops...

Fun, great story telling, technical flaws

Call it a great 'popcorn' novel, lots of fun! The exponential growth in capabilities that I like. Humor. Just: I'm an engineer; suspension of technical disbelief was sometimes difficult; on the other hand, same story for Star Trek, Star Wars, Galaxy Quest, etc. And if you are technically oriented, be very very careful not to measure yourself against this. Huge technical issues are dealt with via hand-waving. Which is why this is entertainment instead of a documentary.

In the first book, the *shiny, reflective* suit charged quickly in sunlight. So apparently it absorbed a lot of the light it reflected away (er, what?) and could charge rapidly on whatever percentage of 1000W/m^2 sunlight times I'll guess 1..2 square meters of surface.

Somehow the suit alloy has been shaped into a suit by one young woman in her home workshop. Where are the industrial facilities capable of applying the heat and pressure required for precision forming of the alloy?

The outside of the suit is exposed to thousands of degrees, which it survives, and later on LEDs that are apparently on the suit surface are used. That survived impacts, exposure to thousands of degrees, dust erosion, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the novels! Great storytelling. I just wince from time to time.

I adore Amelia Lockheart, the wheelchair-bound super-genius girl geek engineer (just writing that description brings a smile to my face) whose alter-ego is a full metal superhero who puts Tony Stark and his Iron Man to shame. And now, in Jeffery H. Haskell, Unstoppable Arsenal (Full Metal Superhero Book 2), she’s back, bent on finally ending her 14 year quest to get her parents - oh, and by the way, to stop a maniac bent on world domination while she’s at it. Wow this is great stuff. Truly fabulous and totally fun. Perfect plot, perfectly written and with the perfect cast. This book has all you want. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

3.5 stars

As is traditional with superhero books (comic and otherwise), the first book was mostly origin story and setting up the overarching plot. In this book we see good development of all the plotlines from the first book.

There is some character development for most of the main cast (and the addition of a new cast member), but the development is shallow. It seems that Arsenal has decided to accept the responsibilities of being a real hero, so we don't get much in the way of internal struggle about that this time. And the plots get much more complex and interesting, including the first appearance of what seems will be the true series antagonist.

The dialogue and internal monologue are both noticeably better than in Vol. 1, though they're still not a strength of this book. And again we get very rapid increase in Arsenal's power.

Again, this was a rather wild ride through a fast-moving story. And even with its flaws, I plan to continue with the next volume very soon.

I really enjoyed this volume that deals with a secret conspiracy among superpowered telepaths that are taking over the world behind the scenes. There's some genuinely shocking and terrifying stuff in this book that works very well (like investigating their version of the X-mansion). It all gets resolved rather quickly in one volume but the fact it is, is enough that I give it a full five stars. Amelia is faced against everyone saying that it'd be better to let the baddies win and the fact she charges forward is really inspiring.

Totally loving it

Its book 2 and im already in love with our Amelia like any good superhero ,she isn't too overpowered but has a few weaknesses and a back story that gives her drive.
And best of all she is likeable and based in brains not just an accident of birth or an incident, fighting the good fight and doing her best.
Haskell does great with this series and i can't wait to continue on finding out what else he has cooked up.

I thought this series would be like many others and drag out the overarching plot of her missing parents (introduced in the first chapter of book one--not a spoiler). The various adventures she is having are plenty exciting, so I wasn't worried about it. But I was delightfully surprised to see the author dive right into that story and then twist the plot in a way I didn't see coming. (I won't say more to avoid spoilers.)

I'm loving this series.

Excellent entry to a great series

The story gets more involved and there’s more action. Lots of action.
Things are getting good and I bought the next one immediately after finishing this one.
I recommend this to fans of action or superhero stories. I’m reading this and Wraith concurrently and they are separate but tangentially connected at this point, just barely.
If you get to listen also, the narrator does a very good job.

Unstoppable entertainment!!!

I've said it before, but to repeat myself, this is one of if not the best superhero novel I have read! No spoilers, but if you love super hero books and you don't read the full metal superhero series, you are depriving yourself. Just a da** good read!!!!!l

Excellent Superhero Fiction

There are few characters in Superhero fiction that represent people with physical challenges nor women who are intelligent. These stories hit all the asks for these characters and does so in a way that has the reader anxiously awaiting the next chapter in their hero’s journey.

I'm loving this series more and more! Amelia as a character just gets more and more compelling as I go, and the cast of characters just gets better and better. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens with Carlos next book for instance. And the final battles this book? Captain America: The Winter Soldier level sitting on the edge of my seat quality, definitely!

Good times. Coulda used a bit more content.

I really enjoyed both this book and its predecessor. Only downside I saw was that this book felt more like a novelette than a full length, especially compared to the first book.

This book is for anyone who wished they had super powers but know that they never will. The plot twists and turns like a snake with cramps. All books in the series are worthwhile reads and I highly recommend them.

Such a great story!

I am in love with this series! It is absurdly amazing. I would love a video game of Arsenal. That would be incredible. As it is this is one of the best series ever written in this genre. Stan Lee would be proud for sure.

Great addition

I’m still really enjoying the story and looking forward to seeing how it evolves. The character work is still great, I was a little disappointed we got so little from the protector, but excited to see what comes for “him” next.

Another solid entry

Protector or Olympian? These books could be the basis of a TV series, or a gaming campaign. Although someone that smart always thinks they are right, until they are epically wrong, which I assume is coming in a future book.

Entertaining read. Will she find her parents? Who’s behind the missing people? What’s up with the other heroes? Recommend reading to find out.

This is my idea of a super hero. When the going gets tough you have to be tough. Amelia is amazing. She had some tough decisions in this book and she faced them head on.

Pretty good sequel with a fast pace and decent plot. Better than the previous novel and served as a nice setup for the following books.
