Bards of Fantasia

Grammar Maps 1 of 3, Pronoun Puzzles & Linking Labyrinth

Rate this book
This supplement collects 18 months of field research. Rather than the “8 parts of speech,” the approach is the “8 verb conjugations.” (1) For grades 5th - 8th, PRONOUN & LINKING maps cover NUMBER, GENDER, PERSON & VOICE. (2) MODIFIER map addresses NON-FINITE “VERBALS," and (3) TOWERS map unifies TENSE-ASPECT-MOOD. It’s ideal for test preparation, and 25 students are covered for the price of a pizza.

Confusions the GRADE 5-6 PRONOUN MAP clears-up better than any handbook include: “What’s the difference between action and linking verbs?” And “What are their two distinct types?” And “How do I keep all the rules for pronouns, nouns, objects, and adjectives straight?” Both that and the 2nd, GRADE 7-8 LINKING VERB MAP provide visual cues and samples for easy, quick-glance comprehension - and confidence boosts. All the research I've done for curriculum design indicates this is what kids should be learning at those specific grades. The problem is, the textbooks go on and on and on with constant need to consult indexes, and kids don't want to do that. Rather, they want cool graphics (even video games, which someday I'd like to develop these as).

And let’s not forget the engagement value of linking the maps to the illustrated BARDS OF FANTASIA novel (and soon, film) so the examples aren’t just random thoughts. Each student can be assigned one flashcard-type-section - created by
the teacher - to fill-in with any incident from the BARDS story they want. They can meet one-on-one with their teacher for further examples, then share what they learned with a short presentation.

INTRO (BIO BELOW): Main interests are reviewing & writing for film. Fav book last year? It was on film writing, by the guy who created the tv series "Stitchers." I've posted 50 reviews here, catalogued 1,000 books, and also have a YA novel for free review. My Listopia CELTIC list shows some of its genre influences (and it's on 6 other lists too): https://www.goodreads.com/list/book/3...

I can't wait 'til the e-book world starts encouraging full color pics in books. Right now 130 color pages printed through Createspace can't be made for less than about $20. I'm trying to lead this, and am taking my lumps for sure. But my new GRAMMAR MAPS manuals-trio should cement my place as a linguistic expert and pioneer. My 30-year bio shows other milestones in songwriting, education, and performing arts.

BIO: S.W. Wilcox, aka DJ Scott, was born and raised in California. He earned a BA in English in Pa. in 2004. An animated short version of "Bards of Fantasia" was made in 2007, for schools. As a teen, Scott also corresponded with famed fantasy pioneer Michael Moorcock. Editorial rave reviews are featured on his Amazon product pages. First full, official bio is linked below. This selection of grammar maps by SW Wilcox are fantastic and fun way to tackle a difficult subject, They have been superbly well researched and the illustrations are of the highest quality. In particular, for children, SW Wilcox's book A Poem For Britain is also a highly recommended read.
