Cute little story

Cute story about getting angry and doing bad things. Doing bad things doesn't make you bad just your actions and maybe with some rest, the monster goes away and doing bad things stop. Cute pictures.

In Today I'm a Monster a young boy got out of bed and his head hurt and he felt like a monster and proceeded to act that way. This book gives young children a book about being angry and letting them know that their actions are not good but that the child inside is still good.

A story is a good way to help children first recognize feelings and then talk about how to deal with them. Anger is a hard on for some small children so Today I'm a Monster has an important message that the child inside the angry monster is still good and parents still love them.

Beautiful pictures and catchy rhymes make this book easy to read

Perfect timing . We have a kindergartener who struggles with bullies at school. She lashes out at those who she sees as threats to hereafter. This book could not have come to our attention at a more perfect time. The wording flows so well. Bright colors. Catchy rhythms too. She loves it.

What a great ebook this is for 3-8 years olds to know on days...

like this. For the most part most of the printed letters at the beginning part of this book that were on the left side of this book though were not very easy to make out as it was seemingly intertwined with the landscape illustration page. Other than that I thought it was a terrific book for 3-8 year olds that I would wish to recommend it for and rated it as suchlike, a five star book. I received this ebook for free by using KU, in return, here's my honest review. Super work Agnes! By Sunny.

Cute story with great illustrations and fun, rhyming text. The story of a boy who is having a bad day and making him angry to others also teaches us all that love and understanding make the difference. We all have bad days and this is a great way to let children know that even if they have a bad day, they are still loved and beautiful and tomorrow is going to be better. Well done.

We all have bad days....

First of all, the illustrations were spot on! I love how the colors blended and gave them a classic art medium but mixed with digital. I loved the message behind the story. We all have bad days that make us act out or not like our selves. It doesn't make it OK, but a reminder we are still loved. At the end of it all, we have to learn to treat each other better as well as be more tolerating. Simply put, this a cute story with a great message.

Cute book

This was a great book.
I enjoyed reading this quickly to my 11 & 9 year old before bed.
They enjoyed reading about letting go of bottled emotions and receiving understanding, encouraging words from mom.

Beautiful book.

Very touchy for a mom. I'm sure many boys and girls will relate to the story. All kids have bad days but as parents we must say to our children " that's not who my kid is". I loved the book!

Great content

This book has great content. It’s not just a line on each page. It’s well thought out with a very sweet plot. Though I did have to remind my little ones that the “monster’s” behavior was not to be copied.

Great

This is a good book to help kids recognize when they are having a bad day. It reassures them that even when they aren’t in their best behavior we, as parents, still love them.

Short & Sweet

This book was a free download, and my 4yr old nephew had been acting just like a monster for days.
We read the book together today right before he was going to throw a fit for being denied monopolization of the living room tele.
I don't know if he got the point, but the tele and his fit were forgotten when we reached the end of the story.

Super cute

Really cute and effective for illustrating to children that they are loved even when they loose control of their emotions. Great for self forgiveness which my daughter struggles with. A nice calming nighttime read.

At first, I wasn’t sure that I’d really like this book. I generally steer clear of anything that hints poetry but I was pleasantly surprised. Green and Judson did a great job grappling with emotions in a way that could be easily understood by a child. The cadence of the lines created a charming rhythm when read aloud (which I tend to do).

The illustrations flowed well with the text. They told their own story that younger audiences could easily follow. The message of love is clear and it warms the heart. I can see parents using this to help their children understand their own emotions.

Kids are kids. They try to navigate the world, but sometimes don't realize what is going on. This book just speaks to them.

In a sing-song rhyming pattern, this book focuses mainly on the child who is a monster. He goes through the day making all of the wrong choices, but at the end of the day his mother was their to love and comfort him.

I will point out, in this book, the message was not so clear. For us, we will use it as a social story to start conversations. I found when reading books like this to kids, they will often have an easier time calming down when in the moment.

Overall this is a cute book. Silly illustrations and very catchy rhythm.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine and were in no way influenced by outside sources. I am a professional blogger at Little Lady Plays

Illustrations were really wonderful, full page, and realistic, yet not boring. (great sense on movement on some pages too!)

It's the message that I have an issue with. Today's picture book selection is amazing, there confront and deal with so many great books that address emotions, issues, colors, and cultures that they didn't touch when I was a kid that I'm really looking forward to a well-balanced and emotionally aware generation coming up.

(Just the other day as I was reviewing picture books for our library committee, I mentioned that if there'd been just one of the books on worrying and anxiety that I had come across in today's market that had been around when I was a kid, my life might have ended up on a very different path.)

However, this one, about anger leaves me uneasy. Of course, we love our kids even when they throw a tantrum or have a bad day. However, this story makes it seem like you can literally be a monster for basically the entire day with no one calling you on it, go back tomorrow and act nice again and everything is okay. A tantrum that lasts for an hour is one thing, a bad, sad, or grumpy attitude all day is another thing, treating everyone around you horribly for the full 12ish hours of a kid's day is not okay in my book. Yes, I would still love my kid, but there'd be timeouts, discussions, or, for the love of God, any adult interaction during the day to try and bring some resolution to the problem much faster.

I get the idea and the bigger picture, let's not give the idea that we all get a 24-hour pass everytime we feel like it.

This is an adorable rhyming story that is perfect for preschoolers. The protagonist is a little boy who wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. So today he will act like a monster. He will be rude, disrespectful, obstinate, and mean to his friends and family. His mother understands that he is having a bad day. She comforts him and explains that she loves him always, no matter his mood. She understands the child hidden in monster disguise.

This book is recommended as a bedtime story or read aloud to discuss a child's feelings when experiencing negative emotions.

A phenomenal book about feeling angry and having a really bad day. Perfect for feelings Storytime. In my opinion, the text could be better read with a different font type, color and size but an excellent book.

This book is about a child who wakes up from bed feeling upset and how they learn to be okay with feeling bad emotions. I would recommend this to pre-k students and would use it to help them learn to read in a fun way.

Such a good read

Really lovely book. The idea behind the story was unique, the rhyming was rythmic and did not seem forced at all. A lot of rhyming books are incredibly short, but this one was longer than many and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it with my 7 year old.
