SECOND book in the Brightwater Bay Cozy Mystery series
Claire’s a newcomer to the picturesque town of Brightwater Bay, surrounded by the ships in the small fishing harbor, and seemingly-friendly townsfolk. But while the scenery of the San Juan Islands is soothing to her soul, her new life is anything but peaceful. When a body is found handcuffed to a crab trap, Claire once again finds herself embroiled in a deadly mystery.
Will she discover the secrets hidden in the town, or will she become the next body buried in the deep waters of Brightwater Bay?
I've been writing and making stories in my head as early as I can remember. In third grade I came home, set my lunchbox down, and told my mother I wanted to be a writer. Luckily, Mom was supportive.
I've been a published author for a while now, under different names and genres, but the thought of writing about a small coastal town in Oregon, and about its loves and mysteries and holidays and people has been with me for years. To be honest, I am a bit scared to dump those ideas onto the written page, but hope you'll enjoy getting to meet the people who inhabit my imagination.
In real life, I'm married with kids, live on the West Coast of the US, and own a hobby farm just outside of my favorite small town. I love to travel, and can often be found strolling down a windy Oregon beach, holding onto the string of a high-sailing dragon kite.
Pleasant characters and an interesting small-town. I stopped because I am tired of the overdone plot device of characters trying ti solve a murder in their own - meanwhile interfering with law enforcement efforts.

I have 4 stars because the book just ended with Deputy's wife in the air. What happened to the lovers? The book wasn't finished! I have read most of Carolyn Dean's books except the one before this one. I will read it too. Just fun stories in a little village by the sea. I think these would be popular with women more than men.
A solid cozy. The plot is a good one but just needed a bit more oomph. Her stay is now official. She has a job, a place to live and possibly a new boyfriend. During one "date" they witness the retrieval of a man's body. Perhaps their idea of investigating is not the brightest as it leads to car ramming, a break in, threats, a broken marriage and heartache. The characters been just a bit more work to really be believable. But a solid read nevertheless.
Settling into Brightwater Bay, Claire is enjoying getting to know the town and its people when she is pulled into another murder. As she is figuring out who did it, she quickly becomes the target of the killer as well as an overzealous journalist. Some plot twisting, but nice how everything is resolved.
Ben find a human hand attached with handcuffs to his crab trap. Claire and Scott were there, Darryl shows up it's, Dexter, Orrin's brother. They decide to go to Hazelton to see if they can find out who his girlfriend is. Jeff the reporter does two articles on Claire, not flattering. A good mystery story and characters.
Another Good Cozy Mystery filled with suspense, twists and turns. The well crafted story is filled vivid characters interacting in Brightwater Bay. This book is recommended for cozy mystery readers.
I really enjoy this author and her cozy mysteries. Good clean read for any age. Some editing errors. Looking forward to the next book. Recommend this author.
A month into her stay in Brightwater Bay, she encounters another murder victim - the brother of the previous murder victim. And a newspaper reporter makes her sound like a villian.
I absolutely love these three stories. I love the characters and the story line thank you for such a wonderful read can't wait to read some of your other books
I enjoyed this book, which is the 2nd in the Brightwater Bay Cozy Mysteries. The characters are likable. I am enjoying getting to know them. The way Claire is getting to know them and vice-versus feels natural. Parts of the story were scary which made me nervous but also kept my interest. I look forward to reading the next book in this story.
The Cozy Mystery Book Club Bingo Prompt: Visits the Local Bakery
I need to stop reading books and then wait months to review them. All I can say about this book now is that it’s cosy, sweet and enjoyable. Maybe a bit on the melodramatic side in certain moments, but I had a fun time with it and will definitely continue this series.
