E.D.G.E. Security is a covert international organization that handles jobs most governments won’t. The operators are the elite of the elite, soldiers and spies, chosen for their skills and secrecy, and their ability to go beyond the edge. Ex-CIA operative Sarah ‘Ghost’ Ramirez likes to work alone. Life has taught her not to depend on anyone. So she has no problem when EDGE sends her to Iraq to infiltrate ISIS, the terrorist organization. But living undercover in a war-torn city overseen by brutal fanatics takes its toll on her. Sarah wants out, but can’t bring herself to leave the people who need her despite the personal cost to her spirit. Only her cherished memories of the man she left behind lets her endure the burden.
Dylan ‘Cowboy’ Richards is a hotshot helicopter pilot for EDGE. He’s been raised to protect others, even when they don’t want protecting. He’s on a rescue op in Mosul, Iraq when he finds out his contact is the woman who walked away from him five months ago without saying goodbye. He wants nothing more to do with Sarah Ramirez, but can’t stop his instinctive need to help her.
When the rescue goes wrong, Sarah puts her life on the line so Dylan’s team can escape. Dylan refuses to leave her behind and ends up caught in her dangerous mission that threatens not just their lives, but their hearts and will take them to the edge of their courage.
Version 2 has new content added and minor editorial changes.
This was a nail biting story. Was on edge all the way thru. Full of drama and heartache. With subjects that are all to real. So horrific it's hard to take at times.very well written and handled tho.
Love the EDGE Security books! This was another great book. This book is set in Iraq where Sarah "Ghost" is on a mission. She has been there for 5 months. She left Dylan behind when she left for her mission. Things are starting to come to a dangerous head in the middle east. Dylan comes in on an operation and find that Sarah's partner has left. He stays behind to help her. Try as she might, Sarah can't fight the pull between them. She has always been alone, so opening up is hard for her.
The fighting scenes and the picture that is painted of the ISIS members and the women of that community is heartbreaking. I thought the author did such a great job telling that story. We hear about ISIS everyday and to read this was like watching a news report. I thought it was really well written and drew me right in. Sarah has had a rough life and has trouble trusting other people. I wouldn't call her whiny, she just doesn't trust easily. As the story develops you can see that she loves Dylan, but will she realize it before it's too late?
Seriously - what is not to love about a kick-ass female with a code name "Ghost" and a yummy "Cowboy"? I've devoured each book in this series and have loved every one of them. Will these go on my 're-read' shelf - you betcha! I love that the author is willing to 'go there' when it comes to real life issues that we face with our military personnel and not shy away from the tough subjects. And that cover...#coverlove
Sarah and Dylan's relationship has been a wild ride from the beginning. Finding each other in this story leads to a crisis of confidence in Sarah's ability to be a teammate. There's nonstop action and suspense, along with all the dangers that women have in Isis-controlled areas. New characters introduced are a wide diversity of personalities. When Sarah faces what she believes to be her likely death, she sees herself more clearly what her biggest regrets are. She's determined to do better, but realized it may be too late. This story is about loyalty and courage. It will appeal to anyone who enjoys military action and romance that requires hard work. This continues to be a great series.
I am done with this series & this author. The stories themselves are good, but I seriously dislike the heroines. The one in this book was the worst yet. She doesn't know the meaning of the word "teamwork:" everything must be done her way with no outside input. Basically, she knows it all & can do it all herself. She is a whack job who needs psychiatric help. Dylan should run as fast & as far as he can from her.

This book is mainly based in Iraq with all of the dangers that an undercover story entails. My palms were clammy quite a few times while reading the story. Sarah can be infuriating at times but if you keep in mind her childhood then you can understand why she acts the way she does. The chemistry between her and Dylan sizzles and the way Sarah cares about the youngsters is touching. A must read.
This has been my least favorite of the series so far. The plot was interesting with plenty of action and suspense, but I found the romance to be disappointing. Dylan was great, but Sarah was frustratingly stubborn. The never-ending refrain of, "I don't need help," "I work best alone," "I don't need a partner," from Sarah while she pushed Dylan away was annoying. And the ending felt rushed.
Jus discovered the Edge series and reading them quickly . So hard to put them down Characters are great and love that I can follow them with each book. Thank you Trish!
I have enjoyed reading this series p! It’s well written and worth reading. I wasn’t sure what to expect but was blown away by the first one that I am super excited to move on to the next.
Deeply embedded in Syria for E.D.G.E, Sarah Ramirez's latest assignment is also partially one where she gets to forget about a terrifying connection that she'd forged months before with Dylan Richards. But E.D.G.E's retrieval of another operative brings both Sarah and Dylan back into each other's spheres once more and Dylan's staying behind tests Sarah's resolve not to break under the promise of much more that he can offer - past this desolate, thankless life.
I found 'Edge of Courage' vividly immersing for its fictional account of undercover life in ISIS-controlled Syria, but much less so for a pairing where one side always seemed to be scaling an immovable mountain to get to the other - and failing. Agent Ice, or as Sarah is also known by, is a fitting name for her personality: one who freezes out everyone and is meagre with any outpouring of affection that goes beyond the physical. Seeing her push Dylan away time and again and her constant insistence that she wasn't made for anything emotional eventually made me wonder if she was beyond redemption. By the time her change of heart came in the last chapter, it was difficult not to wonder if this was simply yet another impermanent realisation that would later turn tail on her supposed decision to be with Dylan.
Yet extremely frustrating characters aside - which I'm not always able to do -, 'Edge of Courage' is worth the read just for the action and for the very contemporary take on a woman's effort in penetrating the brutal regime spreading in the Middle-East on her own terms.
Another amazing read in the series. Dylan, Cat's brother and pilot for EDGE, has been in love with Sarah, Ghost, since he met her during the off-books rescue of the school aged girls when he helped Cat and her team before he became a member of EDGE. They had a great time together, but then Sarah ran scared and signed up for a long term undercover job. She lives to rescue the women and girls from the ISIS camp she is undercover with. But when her current partner leaves to complete a job, Dylan d codes to stay and help protect her since its against SOP to work alone on any case. They work together to help more people escape, but realize in the process that their feelings for one another are still as strong as ever. When Sarah becomes a decoy to help Dylan escape with the girls they have, she's captured but he refuses to leave without her. He finally puts his foot down and tells her he's done once they are safely back with their team. During her recovery, she thinks about him and her feelings. Of course, like it is with the rest of the gang, she still needs that push from another team member to make her aware that she's actually in love with him. She goes to him in hopes that he will forgive her and accept her love.
I'm really torn on how to rate this book. I have read every book in this series, and while I have enjoyed them each well enough, they are not memorable for me. The names sort of stick with me, but that's about it. I really remember nothing about the characters or relationships after I'm done reading, and I'm not really sure why that is.
But lets talk about this book. I really liked Dylan, but I struggled to like Sarah. I understand that she has issues, but it got to be a bit much. I wanted to like her, but the fact that she constantly pushed Dylan away really got to me by the end. I also felt like the ending was too quick. I wanted another chapter before the epilogue, and I wanted more from the epilogue itself. Maybe that is why these characters have been so forgettable for me--I think I need more resolution at the end.
The plot itself was interesting. I liked the setting, the mission/side mission, and all of the action. Had Sarah not pushed Dylan away so much and been a bit more like-able, I probably would have loved this book. Overall, I think I give this book a 3 or 3.5. It has a lot of potential, but a few aspects fell flat.
This addition to the series was more serious than the previous ones. The subject matter, the treatment of women in the terrorist controlled middle east, made of difficult reading. Even though this is fiction, knowing that women have no choice and are less than property in some areas of the world is unbelievable. As far as the story, the chemistry wasn't as good in this story because Ghost simply would not let herself open up. She was sarcastic and difficult. Though she had good reasons for her behavior, she was often hard to like. Dylan was great and sweet to read with the kids, but he let Ghost get away with way too much. Overall, the story had a lot of tension and suspense but just wasn't a favorite of mine for this series.
I enjoyed the story. I thought the plot was well thought out and kept me engaged. I loved Dylan's character, he was a patient and caring hero. Sarah on the other hand was harder to like...I felt she came off as reckless, thoughtless, and immature. I didn't like the "woe is me, I am broken, no one could possibly love me" continuous inner monologue. She is the reason this isn't a 4/5 star book for me. I understand the need for broken characters but you don't have to make them unbearable. Also, I wanted a real HEA, the ending and epilogue felt rushed and after spending the time to read the story, I wanted a great HEA. Minus one star for ending, minus one star for a less than like able heroine.
Because of the subject matter and setting this was emotionally a more difficult book to read than previous books in the series. The story takes place in an ISIS controlled Mosul, where Sarah is again undercover as "Ghost", gathering information and rescuing women and children forced into slavery. After a CIA operative is captured, she helps an EDGE team extract him, but stays behind to provide a distraction for their withdrawal. Refusing to leave her behind, her jilted former lover, "Cowboy" decides to stay with her until they can safely leave. But Sarah has a surprise waiting at home. A ten year old girl is hiding in Sarah's basement. A child she refuses to abandon.
this is the story of codename Ghost and Cowboy,(Sara arnd Dylan). They had some time together(one month) prior until Sara took a job smack dab in the middle of IRAQ ,with a bunch of fanatical nut robbers ,better known as ISIS. When she comes face to face with Dylan while working an OP she uses herself as a distraction so his team can get away and Dylan decides to stay with tttr as her current partner is out and he will not leave her with out a partner. She is not happy about this. and the book escalates from there. I really enjoy this series and would recommend to all.
The beautifully flawed heroine of the story has one tough exterior. She keeps her heart and feelings carefully hidden from everyone, including herself. Trish Loye takes her (and us) on a journey revealing a life no woman could ever want and those people brave enough to help them escape. These courageous acts results in the heroine's heart and feelings also being set free.
As with the third book, I found the heroine in this one over the top in terms of stubbornness. For awhile it was good, and the ending was satisfying, but Ghost's level of stubborn went from 100 to 0 within the space of about three paragraphs, which was somewhat rushed for me. Still enjoyed it, and Dylan was great, but I wish there'd been more of a journey (as with books one and two) than a sudden realization of instalove.
Stopped reading at 35%. Want to go back to it but needed a break due to it being heavy emotional material. Will go back eventually to finish. Rest of series is great.
Wow! Edge of Courage was terrific. It had me sitting on the edge of my seat ( no pun intended). Originally I was terrified that Sarah and Rankin her undercover partner would be found out with all the risks they took then when Dylan, Jalila and Waqar were added to the mix, my apprehension went higher. I went through so many emotions while reading this book anyone would think I was bipolar lol!
