I read this years ago and have just dug it up again to use it as a text with young readers. I can't remember it really well but I have kept it which suggests good things and I do remember feeling inspired by it.
A Question of Courage is a really pleasant read. I was worried it would be old fashioned or too dry but it had a good balance. A great way to introduce kids to the suffragette movement and issues of the day, also enables kids to compare and contrast issues in the book with modern day issues in society.
My mother gave me this for my 10th birthday. I loved it, remember it to this day. Learning about the suffragette movement and women's rights and the need for equality opened my eyes. I'm grateful to my mother for giving it to me.
I loved this book as a teenager. It explained the euphemism of 'forced feeding' in awful, horrible detail. It also gave feeling to the unfairness of being a girl in a family of boys. It has made me proud to vote since I was able.
