Tennyson D’Angelo . . .

Darkness lives within each of us. Shadows. We are each capable of great goodness and unbelievable evil.
It is the duality of being human.
I want to live in the light. I don’t enjoy the shadows. But I’m not sure I’ve been given a choice in the matter.
The shadows own me. They dance at my edges and tangle in my light. They torment my days and make my nights an anguished hell.
I simply want to be free. One way . . . or another.

The call him the Prophet.
Tennyson D’Angelo, the man who can foretell the future. A modern-day oracle.
And Olivia D’screte desperately needs his help. She tracks him down in Italy, begging for his assistance. She has a life-or-death problem that only a bonafide psychic can solve.
But Tennyson is slowly fracturing from within, the weight of the D’Angelo curse destroying him.
Olivia and Tennyson join forces, each searching for answers. But their understanding of the D’Angelo curse keeps changing, and Time is not on their side.
Even as they fall in love, Tennyson and Olivia realize they are in a race against the clock. Will they find answers in time to save themselves?

WOW. I've been immensely curious about Tennyson's GUT (Grossly Unusual Talent) and how the author would write his perspective. I didn't anticipate Olivia and how she fits into the mysterious puzzle of this genetic curse the brothers share. She is an unusual character, feeling awkward and like she doesn't belong in the world of the "hot people." I loved her funny perspective and how she brings light and laughter to Tennyson's life, as well as some crackling chemistry. It was good to see more of Judith, the mother of the D'Angelo siblings, since I just read the prequel novella of how she met and fell in love with Cesare. The intensity of the paranormal activity is increasing as Tennyson and Olivia both feel closer to being consumed by the darkness, and the strong bond between Dante, Branwell, Chiara, Jack, and Tennyson is evident as they work together to solve the mystery and find a solution. I was so happy and excited and appreciative that all the questions get answered, piece by piece, and I was astounded at how it all dramatically resolved. Best. Ending. Ever.

They call him The Prophet... the man who can foretell the future. No one knows his name... or if they do... they aren't saying much about him. But Olivia Hawking is desperate and will do anything she can to find him. He's her only hope for a future.

Tennyson D'Angelo is fracturing from within. The madness from his family curse is slowly taking over his mind. He wants to be free and live in the light. But, in order for that to happen, they have got to find a way to seal up the scars and stop the daemon from attacking. If not, the curse will continue to plague the D'Angelo men for years to come.

When Tennyson comes face to face with the woman he has been seeing in his visions, he just can't believe it. Olivia. His woman. His soul. He has been slowly falling in love with her but they can never be. He refuses to hurt her and that's just what will happen if he lets her in.

But when he discovers that Olivia is tied to the curse, he'll do everything in his power to keep her safe and give her a future. Even if he's not in it.

Wow! Just wow! Guys! I can't even right now! I am completely blown away with everything that happened in this book! I'm not even going to attempt explaining because I refuse to give anything away! There were twists and turns that I did NOT see coming! My advice? Don't try to figure it out... just go with the flow peeps! And the feels! The FEELS! The feels are BEYOND real! I cannot even begin to describe all the emotions I had running through my body! You name it and I felt it! Olivia and Tennyson are absolutely perfect for each other! I ADORE these two! I had a feeling they were going to be my favorite in this series and I was right! *dreamy sigh*

I absolutely LOVE this series! It will be one that I read over and over again! It's seriously SO good! If you haven't read it yet, then I highly recommend you check it out! And if you want my opinion on what order you should read these books in, I would say in the order it was released... Gladly Beyond, Love's Shadow, Lightning Struck, Lovers and Madmen and A Madness Most Discreet. I don't think I would have fully appreciated the heart achingly beautiful love story of Judith and Cesare had I read it in any other order.

Ms. Van is an amazing storyteller! I have loved all of her books I have read so far! I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

And this casting! *dreamy sigh* I am in love with these two! What do you think?

Icing. This book is pure, decadent icing. Tennyson's story is the perfect cap to this series and I couldn't devour it fast enough. I highly recommend reading this series in order, as it's like savoring a five course gourmet meal.

I've always felt like Tennyson is the most intriguing brother and the one who feels the deepest. Fate brings Olivia to him and their chemistry is an explosion that's off the charts. The build up to that first kiss was exquisitely delightful and a torture to wait for.

Nichole Van knows how to draw a reader in, heart and soul, and I was completely lost in this book. I felt every single emotion, from surprise to heartbreak to fear to intense love. I'm emotionally drained and absolutely amazed at the beauty of this book.

If you love romance and fantasy, you'll be in heaven and find yourself in a seriously legitimate book hangover before you know it with this one.

Content: mild-moderate violence; mild language; mild+ swoony romance (chemistry, light innuendo, kissing)

Oh my......oh my......just breath.. Dang what a book. I think this is now my favorite series. Every book just gets better and better! And oh the END! The end was exactly what I never knew I always wanted!!! I love the way this author writes, it's quirky, funny and romantic! It's history and contemporary, magical and real. It pulls me into a world I want to stay in and never leave. GAH! How am I supposed to go back to the real world! I loved this story of Tennyson and Olivia and all the rest of the brothers and even the parents!!! You really get a full plate of goodness with this one. The reading order should be as they are published. The parents story should, for sure be read before this one. These are all clean stories with wonderful, yummy kisses that don't go any further, with a bit of violence and talk of mental illness connected with the supernatural. I would let my teens read these with no problem.

Oh wow. I am completely in love with this series. It's going to be on the list of my very favorites that I recommend to everyone. So, so good. I cannot imagine a better ending to this series.

I've been waiting for this book, knowing that Tennyson's story was likely going to be the most difficult as he struggles the most with his abilities. I loved the feeling of desperation and almost recklessness that went along with this story. It made me so anxious and completely invested in the characters and the story. I probably read this book way too fast instead of savoring it like I should have. I just couldn't help myself though. I couldn't put it down and I couldn't let it go. I'm still thinking about this book today, days after finishing it.

I would highly recommend reading this series in the order the books were released. It's going to be the best way. You won't be sorry.

Content: mild swearing, kissing, some mild peril and violence

This was a great wrap up for the series! I'd been looking forward to Tennyson's story ever since the first book, and this did not disappoint. It was so interesting to get into his head and discover his personality. Olivia was such an interesting character, and I enjoyed their interactions and how they were able to take care of one another.

For those who haven't read #0 to #3 of this paranormal romance series, don't worry as Nichole Van seamlessly catches you up on the world building and character histories. And I do mean seamlessly. That takes talent! So yes A Madness Most Discreet is standalone, though your reading pleasure and investment in the characters will be stronger if you read the prior books in the order they were published with reading #0 fourth.

Wow what an ending to the series that tied everything up!!! Oh my, plus afterwards the individual seperate HEA epilogues set in the future for each of the Maldetti family members *sigh*! Thank you Goodreads friends for not spoiling this one for me!!!

Violence: Paranormal unidentified (later identified) entity attacks.

Language: Mild. D#mmed and d#m in the literal religious meaning.

Sensuality content: Clean. Kisses and sweet cuddling only. And that first kiss is a long way coming, but worth the wait *swooning and fanning face*.

Oh my! This series has been incredible, and this last one just warmed my heart up to toasty level. It was awesome! This is Tennyson’s and Olivia’s story. I’ve always had a soft place in my heart for Tennyson, the fractured, tortured brother who is slowly going crazy with his second sight the family curse has stuck him with. My heart broke for him when Lucy ditched him for Branwell (book 2 I believe), although those two were perfect for each other, so yeah! Sorry Tenny. I always wondered what kind of girl would meet his needs and win his heart. Olivia was perfect for him. Just saying. She’s funny, vulnerable, quirky, vulnerable, adorable, and vulnerable. I loved her because she’s so easy to see yourself with all your weaknesses in her. Yet she’s stronger and more beautiful than she has been made to believe. Tennyson is perfect for her, because he truly sees her for the wonderful girl she is, but he also believes if he stays with her, she will die because of his fractured soul and the evil in the world beyond that somehow, Olivia sees.

Oh, just read this story. Don’t rely on my wandering summary to decide if it’s good or not. IT IS!!! The characters are dreamy, the plot is intricate and intriguing. The other brothers and their wives/girlfriends are in here, and so is Judith (the mom)—so you know it’s good. I absolutely savored this story, and underlined like crazy because this author writes SO DANG GOOD!!! I can’t wait to go on and read all her other series she’s written. Thank you for writing, Nichole Van. I treasure the words that come out of your brain. They’re brilliant!

Olivia Hawking has one last hope - she needs to find the man who can see the future. But first she needs to find out his name. Her "mental" episodes are real, even if her high-power parents don't believe her and are trying to "fix" her in all the wrong ways. She has to find out who he is and get to him before it's too late.

Tennyson D'Angelo is losing hope. His visions of the future are becoming more frequent and they are fracturing him from within. When he finally meets the woman from his visions, she is nothing like he expects. For one, he can't sense Olivia's emotions and for someone who lives his life on sensory overload from other people's emotions, she is a blessed relief!

Of course, Tennyson isn't what she was expecting either. As someone who has grown up around "hot" people and considers herself a "not," Tennyson is breaking all the rules. Because he reads emotions, he has learned a long time ago that a "hot" outside often hides an ugly inside. And the fact that he speaks her language of "Random" so fluently only makes him that much more attractive to her.

This was a great conclusion to this series! There were some twists and turns, and in the end it was a very satisfying ending - especially with the extended Epilogue.

Epic Conclusion to an incredible series

Wow- where to even begin?! I have loved this series by the talented Nichol Van. I gobbled up this book so fast (less than a day I think?) but have been trying to process everything about it since.

First off, I adored Tenn’s story. He and Olivia had a unique relationship and while their romance was swoony and full of sweet romantic tension, it continued to stay true to a clean read. I ached for the real struggles each faced- Tenn with the “madness” of his curse, and Olivia with her feelings of worth and her love for Tenn. I loved how intricate the plot became with Olivia added in- she brought so much more light to the story behind the brother’s curse and the history of it.

You will definitely want to read the rest of the series before this book- it builds throughout each book, and the epic ending in this one was one that brought such a satisfying and climactic conclusion. I adored the epilogue ending as well. Seeing each character’s life unfold after the climax and how much joy and love was involved made for one very happy reader.

For the first few chapters I was pretty excited about Olivia and Tennyson’s story. They were perfect together, and actually their “coupledom” stayed perfect. The humor and romantic sentiment were top notch. It was the slowdown of the plot that killed my mood. The first half of the book covered only 24 hours while it recounted supernatural events that had gone before in the other three books. Even details like Boney the rat were needlessly included. I feel bad not giving this a higher rating, but too many smaller issues began interfering with my book love in the last half. They were:

-Lack of depth or character growth.
-Repetitious inner monologues.
-Some answers about the supernatural mystery were superficial and didn’t make sense.
-Unnecessary texts from bestie, Langley.
-Lack of closure for help that came from an unexpected source.
-Misuse of prosthetic for prosthesis.
-Inappropriate Barry Manilow reference. Was it supposed to be funny?

Nichole Van is officially one of my favourite authors now. She is a wonderful storyteller, and her writings are witty. They made me laugh. I had goosebumps. I sort of played hooky from work to finish her books (Gah! I hope I did not add any of my colleagues as friends here). She got me teary-eyed towards the end.

I had been waiting for Tennyson's story for two reasons - I wanted to know why he was so broken, and I wanted to know how it would all end. Though the Hot-Person reference throughout the book made me roll my eyes (like all the time), I still could not put it down. I mean, I had known from Book 1 that Tennyson was beautiful. Heck! Claire said it. So, perhaps that bit of information could have been toned down.

Nevertheless, I did not for the life of me know how it was going to go down. I had my suspicion as to who would jump in to help. Wasn't wrong about that. When everything came unfolding, I felt the hair on my hands' stand. Nichole definitely knew how to end the series.

Though each book is a standalone, I highly recommend reading from Book 1. That way, you'll understand the D'Angelo curse and be privy to every new discovery about their gifts. You'll understand how their abilities morph and what made them realise that there was a way to fight it. No spoilers here!

And I have to thank Nichole for adding in the epilogues from every one of the D'Angelo siblings. That was a bonus to me. If you are looking for something new and exciting to read, do give the Brothers Maledetti books a chance. I can't believe I kept reading all four books without taking a break. So not me. Love love love the books!

I cannot believe this is the end of this wonderful series! I know I'm totally going to go through a book hangover for sure!

This entire series was just what I needed! It is contemporary but has such a rich foundation in history and yet totally new with the paranormal twist! I absolutely loved this world that Nichole has created and cannot wait to tell everyone about it!

I always had a soft spot for Tennyson since the start of the series and was so excited it was finally his turn to find love. And oh my goodness did he just find the absolutely perfect person for him! Every time he just said bore his heart out to Olivia in Italian, I swooned! Every time he wanted to hurt those that had hurt his Olivia, I swooned. He just had the softest heart and yet so much to handle and process.

I loved Olivia! I loved that she was quirky and that with Tennysons help she learned to embrace that uniqueness and not apologize for it.

Seeing everyone's Epilogues at the end was just the icing on the cake. This truly was the perfect ending to an amazing series!

A Madness Most Discreet (Brothers Maledetti 4) - PG13
Violence: paranormal slime violence
Language: fewer than 85
Sex: no sex, but some bodacious kisses.

I am supremely satisfied with this book and the way this series finished. I was trying to figure out what it was that I liked so much about this series and it's the Edward/Bella effect. It manifested slightly in all four books that a supremely wonderful and supernatural man (in everyone's opinion, not just the h's) is ridiculously in instalove with a woman who is supposedly not as "great." This last book is the most stark. I ate it with a spoon!! Also, this was my very favorite heroine. Her lines were so hilarious I underlined them.

4 stars for the storyline that's been carried over from book to book and the resolution of it. So creative!
2 for the character of Olivia. Here she is a 33 year old who runs her own ngo but I felt like she acted like an 18 year old high school student with her obsession with Hot/Not. She came off as so superficial, spineless and whiney.

Second reading: I was going to give it three stars again because I think Olivia’s Hot Person/Not person was even more annoying the second time around. At times she just sounded too immature with how much she fixated on it! But in the end I bumped it up to 4 stars because I do love the epilogue and I just love Nichole Van! 💗

The final book in the Maledetti brothers series so everything was resolved and there was a very good happy ending. So really the only reason I gave this three stars instead of 4 is because the female main character was really annoying at first. She talked sooo much about how hot Tennyson was, which I get but it got annoying after a while. Also that scene where they finally kiss by accident on TV and he pushed her away that was SO painful to read! I would have slapped him and never talked to him again...ok I probably wouldn’t have done that especially since he is so hot! Hahaha! Anyway in the end I did like Olivia and I liked their love story. I liked how everything resolved in the end. I also liked how she did epilogues for each one of the brothers and sister and their parents. I thought it was a nice way to wrap things up! But I am a sucker for a good Epilogue! 😂

So looked forward to Tennyson's story, as well as the conclusion to the Maledetti saga, and I wasn't disappointed. And, while theoretically this could be read as standalone, it is truly best to read the entire series in order. And what a wonderful thing that Judith and Cesare's story was available to read just before I read Tennyson's. Well edited.

Having read the series, I know that Tennyson suffers from his piece of the Maledetti curse tremendously. He feels every emotion around him, as well as being able to see the future. He put that ability to use in Afghanistan, working to save the lives of his fellow soldiers by warning of IEDs. In the end, he made a choice that cost him is left leg. Lately, Tenn has been having visions of a woman, and from the looks of it, they are actually in love. Tennyson has a hard time believing such a thing, until he runs into her in town. Her name is Olivia. Olivia has actually been looking to meet Tennyson. She sees 'Wriggles' and she is hoping Tennyson has answers. Especially since it seems like the 'Wriggles' are killing her. Tennyson is very surprised by her story, and is also cautiously hopeful that she will be the key they need to help solve the puzzle of the curse. However, before he gets any answers, the black slime attacks and Tenn feels he needs to take Olivia to the hospital. This leads to finding out she is the only child of a very powerful US Senator on the verge of announcing a presidential bid. Tennyson and Olivia, along with the rest of the family, work to find answers while also fending off Olivia's family. They want her home where they feel they can best care for her. Nevermind that Olivia is a 33 year old adult. When Olivia finally does go home for the announcement of her mother's presidential run, things fall apart - on national television. Tennyson returns to Italy and falls into a very bad place, fighting both depression and near constant visions. With her mother finally supporting her, Olivia makes a final push to find the answers to save them all. Will she be in time? Will the Maledetti family ever be free of the curse?

Overall, I adored this story. The writing was really wonderful, moving the story along and flowing from one place to the next. The entire Maledetti family were present, working together to care for Tennyson and find an answer to free them from the curse. And what a great surprise at the end! What I did find a bit tedious was Olivia and her Hot/Not obsession. It was obvious that Olivia's upbringing had been difficult and that she felt less than for most of her life. However, in some ways it seemed as if she had not moved on emotionally from high school, and she was 33 for Pete's sake! And, I do agree with another reviewer that it might have been interesting for Tennyson (and Cesare) to explore why Olivia (and Judith) was his destiny. It is one thing to see it in a vision, and another to meet the actual person and find what it is that put them in the vision in the first place. In the end, I have thoroughly enjoyed the Maledetti's and the House of Oak series. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Van thinks of next! Enjoy!

What a series. I can’t decide which book I like best bc I loved them all so much. I definitely love how the series was concluded in this book for all the characters. It was a long hard road for our boy Tennyson. The longest and hardest out of all the siblings. So it was most gratifying to read him find his love and happiness. Olivia is a FANTASTIC addition to this family. She might be my favorite character out of the whole series. I like those adorably quirky slightly crazy characters. She has self esteem problems that I think most girls can relate to. If you love Edward/Bella like love then you will love this book. The writing is still fantastic and I love every single character. If you love intense scenes, feeling feelings, laughing, grinning like an idiot, cuddles, kisses, mystery, and soul mate love then read this book.

SPOILERS and book notes:
I love Olivia’s frank talk of “beauty privilege”. That beautiful people get away with being mean more than ugly people. That they get an advantage in business and such. But Olivia says she is not beautiful. She sees supernatural things and her parents think she is crazy. She is trying to find Tennyson. I love Olivia’s quirky personality. Aww Tennyson has seen her in visions of the future! And the love they have for each other! The siblings have THE BEST RELATIONSHIP EVER. I love their dark humor and their loving teasing. SO loyal. I love every second of it. They are the only people that truly understand each other. And I love their SO too. Aww I love how awkward Olivia and Tennyson both are! He is horrible at flirting and she is so dang quirky and says the darkness things! Bahaha i am cackling. And he can’t read her AT ALL. Nothing! She is completely blank! I love that! “I speak fluent random” aww! I love that sentence! I totally speak that language too bahaha. I love that Olivia admitted her twilight obsession and referenced it bc Tennyson can’t feel her emotions and watches her while she sleeps in her hospital bed. Also they both have irrational all consuming love for each other. I LOVE THAT HE CALLS HER “my woman” in his thoughts all the time. I AM DEAD. Also I’m so happy we get more Jack and Chiara. Their snark is still the best. I love Olivia’s random questions she asks. She has to filter 14 questions in her brain before a “socially appropriate one” comes out Bahah. But of course Tennyson likes the 14 random questions wayyyy better. Tennyson is a hot man trapped in a nerds body. I love that she realizes this. All this time Tennyson has been calling her “my soul” in Italian and she had no idea. They are soul mates!! They were put in the same hospital baby bed when they were born bc there wasn’t enough room! And THEY CUDDLED as newborns. Wow they had to battle the demon! By pulling the chain through the scar! AND THEN THEIR DAD IS ALIVE!! AND I AM BAWLING. Their reunion!!!!!!!!! The mom and dad’s reunion!!!!! And now all their guts are just faint! They are free! ALL THE EPILOGUES! Every single sibling AND the mom and dad get one. I am bawling. All of the weddings and all the babies and all the love and cuddles and kissing and banter! Wow what a series.

The characters that Nichole creates in all her novels, are written with such unique personalities, their voices coming through clearly as she shifts from one perspective to the next. Not only is each character’s voice individual, Nichole creates beautiful pairs, two halves of the same whole. It’s a intriguing balance to watch unfold with each of her novels, Tennyson and Olivia were no exception. Two messes, two broken yet singular characters who compliment each others weaknesses and bring life to an already compelling story.

Tennyson’s dark madness and Olivia’s light fumblings made for not just a great relationship, but great reading. The pairing of the darkness of their situation with the lightness of their “three stooges bungling” scenes was fabulous writing.

Nichole’s stories are awash with emotion. Tennyson’s mental stability and Olivia’s insecurities were not just story elements, but part of the whole and Nichole draws you in with those emotions. Emotions you feel all the way to the end. A wonderful ending that came with a few surprises, and all the tender scenes a lover of endings could want. Nichole’s Epligoue wraps up each of the brothers, leaving me feeling happily contented that I got to enjoy such a well written journey.

The final book in the Brothers Maledetti series, it is finally time for the story of Tennyson D’Angelo, the brotherhood who sees the future, but is also having his mind torn apart and fractured each time he does. But when he starts having visions of a girl that he will fall in love with, part of him begins to have hope.

Enter Olivia D’screte, the daughter of a powerful US Senator, who is in desperate need of help from Tennyson, who she has heard referred to as "the prophet" because of his work for the Army. Olivia hopes that he may have answers for her as to the strange wriggles and demon that have been slowly killing her since childhood. He is her only hope, but when they meet and sparks begin to fly, it may just get in the way of finding the answers that could save them both.

I loved how this wrapped up the series, especially how it pulled together the three previous stories as well, there were just two things that bothered me a bit. Tennyson was just so brooding!!! Oh my goodness, even though I completely understood the reasons for it, I was ready to slap him to get him out of his head. And Olivia, partly because of her life situation and experiences, was way too caught up in Tennyson's good looks and thinking less of herself because of it. Other than that, it was another great, clean romance.

A satisfactory end

I have loved this whole series. The cover art, the titles, and especially the characters. I never really knew how I felt about Tennyson, especially in Bronwell’s story - I didn’t like how his weakness would keep others from finding happiness.

So, when his story was released, I was excited simply because it was in the family, not really because I wanted to see more of T. That quickly changed as I read from his perspective, and I came to respect him.

This last book ties everything up beautifully, with its own character arc with Tennyson and Olivia. Both of their insecurities are handled very well, without any “just tell the truth!” moments.

I have loved and laughed through everything this author has written, and look forward to many, many more.
