This book was somewhat different for me. It was written by a young man who for lack of Taco Bell money, decided to go out with a couple of friends and just out of the blue rob a bank. Now I didn’t take this too seriously at first, thinking it was just talking. But as the chapter went on, it soon became clear that the guy was serious because they were soon divvying up the ill-gotten gains, and then a celebration was In order. After splitting the haul and spending the money, they felt that they needed to start planning another robbery right away to keep some form of money coming in. The book tells how he goes from being a busted bank robber to a trader in bitcoin. A fascinating true crime story.

An advance digital copy was provided by NetGalley and authors Richard Stanley & Thomas A. Reppett for my honest review.

"Up on Game: From Robbing Banks to Stacking Bitcoin: My Involvement with Gangs, Bank Robbery, Prison--and Success in the Business World*"by Richard Stanley is a memoir about growing up in the hood, life in prison, and overcoming obstacles to become a business success.

I think every prision official and police officer should read this book, so they know how not to act. I hope the system has changed since the writing of this book because the one written about in this book is certainly not helping rehabilitate those inside. This isn't just a story about the hood and prision, though almost all of the book is dedicated to that except the last few chapters, it is also a book about overcoming prision and finding success in the world, legally.

I found this book to be very eye opening. I think it would be a good book for youth to read as it shows that there can be a different life without prision time. Overall, I liked this book and would recommend it to everyone so they can learn what it is like to grow up in "the hood" and perhaps help to change it.

I would like to thank the author and punlisher for providing me with a review copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion of it.

've got to say, the title is what made me interested in reading this book. Up on Game: From Robbing Banks to Stacking Bitcoin is the story of Richard Stanley and his tumultuous upbringing in the San Diego area. We first meet Richard back when he was a teen and had the brilliant idea of robbing a bank in order to get enough cash for a meal at Taco Bell. Richard came from a low income family where both parents busted their ass trying to provide for him and his sisters. His parents could only provide the bare minimum so it was up to Richard to figure out the rest. Being a typical teenager and wanting the latest and greatest things, he had to come up with a plan. We learn he went from shoplifting small items like watches, to stealing cars and then finally robbing banks. Just when he thought he outsmarted the cops, he was caught. The book follows his life during prison and the success he achieved after it. The author is an excellent story teller and I could not believe half the things I was reading. I was very interested in hearing his version of prison and how he survived. Overall a great read, especially those who are looking to read more about true crime.

Shocking but real!

I didn’t know what to expect with the book when I picked it up but truthfully, it was hard to put down. It was like I was watching a movie, a good one because Richard Stanley told his story like you were there with. He’s very real and honest with his journey. I wasn’t prepared for the excessive cursing, it was a bit much but I could understand that that was his background and what he was used to. That’s why I gave it four stars.
I would recommend the book for anyone trying to find the right way to get out of bad things but most especially parents. I learned that we parents should never be to busy raise our kids and get to know them; their lives depend on it. It was truly eye opening and I Loved the fact that Richard became a success story.

Wow! This book really holds your attention. It was quite eye opening being that I grew up in completely different circumstances. It really shows things from a different point of you and makes you realize how tough others really have it and how corrupt the system can be at times. Excellent read.

This is a new author to me. Who says a person who is up to no good. Cannot turn his life around. Well Richard proves it in this book. That you can go from bad to good. Sometimes all people need is a second chance. Once I started I couldn't put the book down until I finished it.

I’m not entirely sure what I expected when I started reading this book – but it wasn’t that.

Firstly, I think every parent and/or guardian, teacher and the like should read this book, it will show you that what you do to or say to a child can have a serious impact on their lives.

This book is a true story that shows that you can change – you just need to want to and Richard did. He takes us on a tour of his life. How he started out stealing petty things and working his way up to more serious things. Getting caught, spending time in jail and then turning his life around.

I was gripped from the first page and read it in one sitting. I know a few people I will gladly give this book to – and at the same time wish it was available a few years ago for the same reason… Highly recommend everyone to read this book.
