Max isn’t gay, but he’s about to marry a man anyway.
His little sister is counting on him, and wedding planner Connor is the best chance he’s ever had of coming up with the money he needs to pay for her surgery. All they have to do is win one little wedding competition.
As Max’s bi-curiosity gets the better of him, things get complicated quickly. He finds himself drawn to Connor, their closeness giving Max the chance to experience all kinds of things he’s never had the chance to do before and indulge his curiosity for the first time.
His relationship with Connor deepens physically and emotionally as they get to know each other, but despite growing up in a town like Hope Springs, Max isn’t sure how he feels about Connor, or whether he wants to admit it--even to himself.
With the wedding approaching and the deadline on their relationship coming up fast, Max finds that his world is suddenly moving way too quickly. Can he figure out what he wants in time to keep it? Or will Connor slip through his fingers before he can tell him how he really feels?
Something Blue is the third and final book in the Something About Him series. It can be read alone, and ends happily ever after. It contains: chocolate cake, sexy hair dyeing, several home-cooked meals, explicit sex scenes, a glitter-related mishap, a too-small t-shirt, and true love conquering all.
Sean Ashcroft likes rainy days, white hot chocolates (don't knock it 'til you've tried it!) and boys kissing in books. He currently resides in Australia, all the way down at the bottom of the mainland in a sleepy little seaside town.
He writes sweet, hot books about sweet, hot boys who absolutely deserve each other.
I love this series. They’re all low angst. Actually, scratch that, I’d call it zero angst. It barely lasts one chapter before it’s resolved!
What I love about this series is the quaint town they all live in! So perfect. I wonder if it’s real...need to check that out 🤔
In an ideal world, this would be an ideal town where nobody blinks an eye no matter what your sexual orientation is. Why can’t we have this in the real world, today???
But I digress, I think Max was just such a lovable man and Connor was just such a sweetheart. All the good things in the world! With glitter on top! You’d get the reference if you read the book 😉
I think it could have gone pretty angsty and heavy with Max’s family situation but I’m kinda glad it kept a light tone.
I would call this a feel good book. Kinda like fluff and rainbows but with substance! Good stuff! 😊
This was so cute. I didn't expect to be any better than the previous two but it really was. So sweet, slow paced, no angst, just sweet, sweet love oh and a virgin.
I have always really liked the personal and intimate writing style of author Sean Ashcroft, but WOW, has he outdone himself with his book "Something Blue". It is the third book in the Something About Him series. If I could give this book 10 stars, I think it still might not be enough.
This is an absolutely stunning story of two men who cross paths just as one of them is coming to terms with far-reaching fallout from an experience that he condsiders to be completely life changing in a very negative way. The other is carrying a terribly heavy weight with love, selflessness and determination everyday. The utter simplicity of the writing in this fantastic story makes the reader fall in love more and more with each page turn.
Connor is a wedding planner who has the terrible luck to work with a rich, famous, but totally selfish bridezilla who turns out to be irrationally impossible to please. In the aftermath, he finds himself losing most of his clients, so he tucks tail and runs away to the small, picturesque town of Hope Springs, wanting to leave it all behind to start again.
Max has 2 jobs and several other ventures that seem to take up 25 of the 24 hours of each day. He struggles to save the money for a very necessary operation that his younger sister desperately needs. He takes on this enormously daunting responsiblity with no thought other than to get it done, no matter how long it takes him.
The straight barista and gay wedding planner cross paths when Max serves Connor a cup of coffee. What follows is a very unorthodox wedding contest that just might solve both Max and Connor's problems if they manage to win, new emotions along with potentially life changing feelings as the two men find more and more to like about one another, and some lovingly supportive friends and family to help the two men out along their journey.
The reader will never, ever forget the awesomeness of this extremely well written story. It is a perfect example of just how life affirming love can be to those who fully open their hearts with no preconcieved boundaries. I was so sad when I came to the words THE END, but was so emotionally satisfied that I went to sleep with a smile.
Thank you, Mr. Ashcroft, for sharing this amazing story.
After a disastrous celebrity wedding, event planner Connor picks up the pieces of his career and moves to the tiny town of Hope Springs, Colorado. Soon, he meets Max, a barista at the local bookstore/coffee house. Max has problems of his own - he had to drop out of college where he was pursuing a teaching degree when his sister Zoe became ill and needed an operation.
When Connor spots an ad for a wedding competition in a magazine, they decide to get fake married and enter the contest. After all, with the prize money, Zoe could get her operation, and Connor could get a new start on his career. Win-win, right? What could possibly go wrong?
This was a fun and heart-warming read with very little angst and lots of engaging characters. I especially liked the wedding photographer. Such a sweetheart!
I should mention that even though this is book three, it works perfectly as a stand-alone, so don't hesitate to jump right in!
Connor and Max discover that love can extend beyond family and friends as Max struggles to help care for his mother and sister after his father's death. His sister Zoe has rippling arthritis in her hip that needs surgery badly as the pain is Incapacitating her ability to enjoy school and life.
Connor recognizes the love he feels for Max and wants to help with the cost of Zoe's surgery. When a contest feels like a good possibility to solve the money issues if a couple getting married can win the contest. So a fake marriage becomes the basis for contest entry, but love is not fake and soon a real marriage based on real love replaces the pain of the fake love bond.
I love this straight to gay, fake to real romance, story. Love the storyline which is very well written and I could not put it down. Max and Connor are wonderful characters with great chemistry who start out pretending to be engaged in order to participate in and win a competition that will give Connor the career boost he needs and the money Max needs for his little sister's surgery. They are perfect together and make a great couple. I love how they get to their very well deserved HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This was my least favorite book in this series. Traditionally, I love the Bi for you and fake wedding tropes but this one was on the boring side.
I felt like the MCs didn't jive as well as I wanted them to. Maybe because at the end they are just getting together? Maybe because it was the same when they were faking it as when it was real?
I like the easy ROM COM vibe of this authors work so I'll keep reading more of them but I wouldn't want to reread this one.
This author is really a hit or miss for me. I think I have to be in the right mood to enjoy the easy, no angst stories. With that being said I really enjoyed this book. It felt easy and I liked the two main characters. They were exactly what the other needed. They were also just so dang sweet to one another. After reading so many dark type romances sometimes it’s a bit jarring to read a book about a healthy couple. I may check out the other books set in Hope Springs. Great read that I recommend.
I was helping my friend create her fantastic wedding invitations this weekend, so this was a great story to read. I really enjoyed Something Blue, it was a perfect end of the Something About Him trilogy. The story was short and sweet and I have to say, I do like stories that include ‘competitions’ like the bridal magazine one. I loved the solid, loyal true heart of Max and the quiet, sweet ways of Connor. I like revisiting the characters in Hope Spring. I would definitely recommend this story.
I really liked Connor and Max. They have great chemistry. There were a few things though... Max is 23 went to college and never had sex or alcohol? I didn’t buy Connor’s issues that drove him to Hope Springs either. Then the whole wedding contest without verification that your marriage is legal kinda niggles me too. Despite these things, I think Connor and Max are my favorite couple from the series.

A wedding planner in HOPE Springs meets a real cute guy who is under pressure to earn money for his Sisters operation she so desperately needs. Being such an innocent man he dosnt realise that he may be Bi. He certainly is attracted to the Wedding planner. They enter a competition to get enough money for his sisters operation and Won. Then he could also apply to go back to college to be a teacher. This a a sweat story with a happy ending.
Woof. This one made me cry, too--but not as much as the previous book, thank the gods. Connor is really too pure for this world. I adore how sweet and caring he was throughout the whole book. This series is just so *soft* in the very best ways. I do kind of wish I'd read The Family Jules series first but I hadn't realized they were connected. Ah well, guess I'll just have to read them out of order!
Sweet characters, fluffy read. Max is almost too good to be true, so it's no surprise Connor fell in love with him. The premise for the book is a bit hard to believe - a magazine giving $100,000 with so little fact-checking on the winner, but it works for the story and I was able to suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy the story.
There’s nothing better than another Sean Ashcroft book from Hope Springs, the nicest, sweetest, gayest town in the world.
Max and Connor are perfect for one another as they help each other out of a rough situation by winning a wedding contest. Another sweet, light, and feel-good read!
How are you going to say the characters are starting to fall in love when they’ve probably spent a grand total of an hour talking, all of which was surface-level? It felt like they were just starting to become friends and the author wanted to hurry up the process so just started throwing the word “love” around.
Cute Romantic story of Connor & Max. Sweetness overload! ****Spoiler Alert: However, I do have a question...wouldn’t the prize committee request proof of the marriage as in the official certificate? Just saying!
That was a great line at the perfect time. I love tales of unsuspecting romance, especially when both parties are trying to do what’s right. Oh and the glitter scene was hilarious!
Every book I've read in this series has been so delightfully sweet and lovely. Definitely delicious chocolate pudding for the soul. A few editorial errors, but nothing I can't overlook. Great writing, overall. I look forward to seeing more from Sean Ashcroft.
Good job giving each MC their own distinct personality. No convoluted relationship drama. You can't help but fall in love with both characters. Time we'll spent.
