The Myth of Hindu Terror: Insider account of Ministry of Home Affairs 2006-2010

Rate this book
A chilling account of a man who was almost traded for the release of Ajmal Kasab 'What role did ministers like Shivraj Patil, P Chidambaram, A R Antulay, Digvijay Singh and officials like Chitkala Zutshi, Dharmendra Sharma, Hemant Karkare, R V Raju play in the Hindu Terror narrative? Here is a version of a man who almost was taken captive and was to be traded for the release of Ajmal Kasab, but saved by sheer providence. In his insider account, author RVS Mani discloses how the country’s internal security establishment functioned in the period of 2004-2014 when India faced some of the bloodiest terrorist carnages. This former Home Ministry official posted in the Internal Security Division between 2006-2010 also poses several questions that the nation should seek answers to.

A must read book if you want to under how government can coined a word "Hindu terror" in the garb of appeasing minority. This is done without any evidence or investigation. Shame on me that i used to vote this party. I am not going to forgive and forget them. The so-called 'secular' narrative attempted to be propagated between 2004-2013 had the potential to tear India's social fabric to shreds. In order to reap political benefits, one religious section was projected as overbearing bullies and blamed for certain unfortunate occurrences. To this extent, a nation hostile to the country was partnered. The global narrative was reversed and the victim religious grouping was projected as the oppressor, the perpetrator. If anyone recapitulates the investigation history of NIA through 2009-2010, it was all about introducing a new nonexistent 'Hindu terrorism' concept. In every case assigned to NIA from the Samjhauta Express Blasts, Malegaon to Ajmer Sharif they overlooked the first set of evidences and replaced it with evidences supporting the Hindu Terror narrative. The NIA was actually used by the new Home Minister as an instrument to propagate a narrative of Hindu Terror, Saffron Terror etc. We always blamed lack of Indian intelligence for terror attack, while reading this book i realized its our govt or bureaucrats who don't listen to them and don't take precautionary measure. Quite an eye opening book this was for me. It gave me new perspective.

Read this book, that's how we can educate yourself.

What an idea Sirji!

Instead of ordering food from Swiggy regularly, don't we try Zomato. Similarly, why everytime a terrorist must be a Muslim, let's frame a Hindu too. Wow, what an idea Sirji. My disgust to the then Govt. increases as this is the 2nd book I have read describing the dual face of the Govt. The 1st one was The Siege - Attack on Taj by Adrian Levy and Cathy Scott Clarke. I am ok with a Govt. that doesn't take care of me, however I am not ok with a Govt. that sells me and my countrymen to terrorists and then maintain a secular view.
A must read for all to understand how country suffers due to selfish politicians.

First of all salute to this man for his sheer will to pull off an entire career dealing with all that have been detailed out in this book.

The details are an eye opener even to those who are already familiar to the power corridor operations in our country. If the country survived such wicked Govt and ministers, it is only because of ‘a few good men’ like the author.

Starting from Urban Naxals to Ishrat Jahan case to 26/11, the book gives out all. Most interesting part of the entire book are the revelations on 26/11 and what followed. Almost each and everything was twisted to suit political agenda and power corridor structures. When the name of politicians can well be guessed, names of eminent IPS officers come as a shock.

Just for the sake of pleasing particular community, the-then Govt plotted to coin an altogether different narrative. And if that is not all, it was even ready to put the entire country at stake to prove that point.

There is a saying in bangla, “ধর্মের ঢোল বাতাসে নড়ে”, loosely translating to “The Drum of Dharma beats by itself”. Nobody could, none can ever suppress truth from coming out. Well, truth is not yet out; the tables have surely turned but much was lost in the journey.

Highly recommended 👍🏼

Hindu Terror, by RVS Mani is an eye-opener to the internal security of India from the year 2006 to 2010. It also discusses the consequences of these act on the later year till 2014.
RVS Mani having served as the Under Secretary in the Minister of Home Affairs (MHA) accounts the negligent approaches the in-power government executed.
The book is well divided into 14 chapters pre-empting chronologically the detailed proof and facts of the terrorist attacks and activities from 2006 to 2010.
Although, at some point of time, the detailed proof could be a tough read, it is imperative to understand the flow of events and connecting the dots.
Through my understanding, when the entire world was agitated against the radical Islam after the 9/11 terror attack, the then government tried to blend the imaginary term ‘Hindu Terror’ to neutralise the agitation and enjoy the vote bank shares of the other side. There isn’t anything as ‘Hindu Terror’.
The book accounts in detailed descriptions of the threats and the action taken through these. IISC attack, Sabarmati Express at Godhra, Samjauta Express Blast, Mecca Masjid Blast, the Batla House, and many more attacks. These were funded by LeT(Lashkar-e-toeba) and sleeper-cells and not ‘Hindu Terrorists’’.
He describes that the states of maritime boundaries had already been alerted regarding some intervention of attacks from the Arabian sea. Lack of action, nuisance performed by the decision makers led the severity of these attacks increase in magnitudes. One incident, of no action taken and delaying the commutation of the NSG Commandos and not ordering the CRPF from Navi Mumbai to come in action is clearly mentioned.
Not forgetting the ‘Ishrat Jahan’ case where the charges were put against the local police for fake encounter is discussed in the second half of the book. Truth prevails in the end, even after facing tantrums, RVS Mani fights for the truth directed by his father from the Bhagvad Geeta.
The author emphasizes the youth of this nation and the leaders to perform the correct acts which are then followed by all common men.

This book is a revelation in the true sense of the word! I knew the UPA establishment had concocted the "saffron" terror narrative. But I was shocked to see to what level there were anti nationals working in the government and bureaucracy trying to destroy the country by supporting and sympathising with terrorists. Kudos to Mr RVS Mani for having bravely gone through many scary situations. He has suffered for standing up for truth. He reveals what happend inside the ministry of home affairs during 2004 to 2013. How it appears as though the UPA regime at some level seemed complicit in aiding terrorists and terror attacks. People like Karkare and Diggy falsely implicated and tortured Patriots like Col Purohit, Sadhvi Pragya, Aseemanand etc.. Read it to believe it..Fortunate is India to be blessed with good souls like Shri RVS Mani.

An insider account of what happened during the Congress rule after the 2008 Mumbai attacks when Congress tried to create a Hindu terror narrative when none existed. How they tried to brand Ishrat Jahan as innocent, how they tried to botch up Godhra case for political mileage. And the initimidation and harassment the author faced for sticking to truth.

“You don’t want Hindus doing a 9/11 do you?!”, exclaimed my friend while discussing the Delhi riots when they had just happened. Talking about ‘Hindu Terrorism’ was easy even hypothetically, but calling out the extremist Islamic forces in these riots was too much for my friend. This was the first time that I encountered political correctness to the extent of denying facts in my personal circle. I was remembering this incident while reading RVS Mani Ji’s “Hindu Terror - Insider Account of Ministry of Home Affairs”. The central theme of the book was the deliberate concoction of a “Hindu Terror” narrative by the then government, probably with the intention to subvert attention from Islamic terrorism. A gripping read, Mani Ji talks about his experience in the MHA from 2006 - 2010 and other ministries for a few years after that. As citizens outside the government, we also get a glimpse of how government officials work, how political pressure can make one to go against one’s country, and how the Congress government was harmful for the nation when it comes to national security.

While growing up, I remember time and again hearing news of terror attacks at various places throughout the country. My father used to watch the news at 9 PM everyday. All of that would fade into the background as I slept that night, and went to school the next morning. However, 26/11 changed all of that. Being at home for 3 days (we were living in Mumbai at that time) we watched as terrorists sprayed bullets wherever they went via TV reportage. At the age of 15, I knew this was by far the worst terrorist attack in my country. Mani Ji in his book writes in detail of how the attack was planned, carried out, and how after the attack attempts were made to protect the people in the government who possibly knew this was going to happen. Reading about the failed attempt to kidnap Mani Ji so he could be exchanged for Ajmal Kasab terrified me.

Another time, during a heated discussion, someone sent me the Wikipedia page titled “Saffron Terror”. One would know by a cursory glance that the page lacks credibility. Why would someone believe it? Mani ji says in the book that once NIA was formed under Chidambaram, initial evidences of some terrorist attacks were set aside and evidence was made up to suit the Hindu terror narrative. In this book, every terrorist attack that was called a case of Hindu terror was countered with evidence that was collected initially before it was distorted. I’m sure we all recollect Rakesh Maria’s account about Kasab and other terrorists being given Hindu names and IDs. Mani Ji lists 14 terror attacks from 2005 to 2013, and all of them were by Islamic terrorists. Other issues he touches upon in this book include terror financing, Kashmir, naxalism, and fake currency.

Reading Hindu Terror was for me recalling such memories, piecing together what had happened during 26/11 in my mind, and also understanding that while sticking to the truth has its consequences, its is truth that ultimately wins. Mani Ji was tortured, followed, threatened, and lost both his parents because of the harassment he faced during this tenure in the MHA as well as after it. This forced him to take voluntary retirement from service. The book also left me feeling grateful for the countless intelligence officers and security agencies who don’t work for anyone but only for Bharat, including Mani Ji. They are nameless and faceless people, who unfortunately have to take the blame whenever a terror attack took place. We also don’t hear about the terror attacks which are successfully averted by our security agencies, and Mani Ji gives us examples of those too in this book. This is a memoir and fact-check that every Indian must read. India is probably the only place where the majority is the actual victim and yet is demonised to this extent. A big thank you to Indic Book Club for allowing me to review this one.

Huge exposures. Talks of the terrible tragedy that befell India between 2004-14. I had never imagined that the government would be complicit in sabotaging intelligence inputs and trying the color the terror narrative. This coercing of officials to get a story that appealed to the minorities across is terrible. The appeasement has transformed from indirect protection to total inversion of facts and cases to propagate lies. It is the classic case of "ulta chor kotwal ko daate".

Tougher days are yet to come, let the truth be told. Honest people have to face so much difficulties against this morally corrupt system, that I was in disbelief over whatever Mr. RVS Mani had to go through. Hindus brace yourself & forget all divisions & distinctions, forget all anti-national ideologies & stay united. The earth wouldn't get such a noble race again.

A must read book to know how high profile crimes are done in connivance with the system.

A great account on how congress pimps sold india.

Must read if you want to know how congress has been selling our country and how irresponsible are their leaders. Must read if you want to get knowledge of how govt and bureaucratic system functions.

Coming to the editing of the book, it could have been better, and reorganization of the chapters and subsections can enhance the readability of the book.

The subject matter is good and the author does expose the UPA government's rather casual approach regarding the terror attacks. The narration could be more cohesive and the author should have stuck to the central idea. Also, there are certain typos.

A highly insightful book written by a bureaucrat for whom the nation came first always.

The book written by Shri R V S Mani sheds significant light onto the practices employed by some of the Ministers during the UPA regime to subjugate the respective Ministry's way of working for their own political gains at the cost of national interests.
The book explains about the

1. Spike in terror attacks that took place during the years 2006-10.
2. The detailed accounts of how some of these terror attacks happened and the post attack responses.
3. How a few politicians instead of acting in the nation's interests tried to take advantage of the situations for advancing their own agenda.
4. How there was a possible collusion at quite a few levels with folks across the border for petty political gains.
5. How the police force of the country had several times anticipated and stalled heinous crimes before they came to fruition but never got the applause that our forces truly deserve.
6. The unimaginable funding sources for terrorism in India.
7. How elements in Pakistan's establishment try to leverage every possible way of harming our country whether they be by exploiting political differences between Central or State Governments or by targeting places of worship of both Hindus and Muslims so that there is internal disharmony.
8. How the author was pressured at several times to toe the line even if it meant jeopardising the security apparatus of the country. What is sadder is that the family of someone acting in the nation's best interests was also harassed.
9. How the nefarious elements kept pressurising the author even after he left the Ministry and even after there was a regime change without the elements themselves coming to the fore front.

Written in a gripping style, it is difficult to put down the book after the first 25 odd pages.
A must read for any citizen interested in the safety of our country - an awareness about how the country's security machinery works is something that one ought to know.

I would have rated 5, not to do with content, but who is the cover designer?
Why is Hindu in large font and Myth in small? The publishers need to rectify it next edition.

R V S Mani puts out facts that lead up to the botched (fortunately) attempt at creating a non-existent Hindu/Saffron terror narrative by the then Congress government in India under PM Man Mohan Singh and his cabinet including Shivraj Patil and P Chidambaram.

The most important takeaway from this book is, and it can be verified from the records of the proceedings of Indian Parliament:

Not once between 2004 and 2014, was the word Hindu Terror or Saffron Terror was used in response to any question related to security or terrorism in the Indian Parliament. The narrative/myth stayed in the media.

Must read.

An insider account of the functioning of MHA during one of the worst terror hit periods "2004 to 2010". Chilling revealations by a senior beureaucrat goes to show the then government would go to any lows for political gain!! Few excerpts... "We had intelligence inputs on a possible attack from the coastal route. Several coastal security establishments had sensed the threat and were in preparation for meeting the challenges.
But it became clear during the series of meetings happening in the MHA that there had been apparently some intervention from the top most political office, instructing 'restraint' in the counter - initiatives to avert such attacks".
I mean why? Who would do that?

This book wonderfully and factually brings out the torture that the UPA meted out to nationalists. This book strengthens my belief about how dangerous our internal enemies are and how they pose a larger threat to the security of India and Indians.

RVS Mani always has bites of wisdom about the corruption and appeasement policies of UPA2. Nothing exemplifies that quite as much as their handling of the shocking 26/11 events, where they threw national security under the bus and blamed Hindus for the attack without any evidence to secure their vote bank. I commend the author's courage in exposing the INC shocking conspiracy and worst and negligence at best.

This book busts the false propaganda of Hindu Terror.

Author himself worked in ministry of Home Affairs. And the details captured for all events from 2006-2010 , mainly Mumbai attacks is really eye opening.

How the incumbent Govt. was adamant to push the false narrative of Hindu Terror. Good thing that Kasab got caught and all their plans were not successful.

Book covers multiple instances of such events not just one. How all politicians and bureaucrats were pushing for such false agenda.

I recommend to read this Book. It give a really deep insight to Indian home affairs.

There's a lot of meat in what RVS Mani has to say, but he hasn't said it well. The book alternates between an expose about the myth of Hindu Terror and a personal rant against the UPA dispensation. Mr Mani should have stuck to the former and avoided the latter. A consistent theme always helps the plot and the book fails in delivering it.
