Regression, Vol. 3

Rate this book
Adrian is no more. His past life has consumed him. The influence of Gregory Sutter and the weird Valgeroti demon cult is complete. Still, there are those who oppose him--in the past, in the present, and in the future. A resistance is rising against the Valgeroti. But Sutter is fearful of those who might send him back into the void. And when he is afraid, his thoughts turn bloody.
The final chapter of the mind-bending past-life horror story by Cullen Bunn, Danny Luckert, and Marie Enger started to unfold hundreds of years ago, but now it draws to a close.

Cullen grew up in rural North Carolina, but now lives in the St. Louis area with his wife Cindy and his son Jackson. His noir/horror comic (and first collaboration with Brian Hurtt), The Damned, was published in 2007 by Oni Press. The follow-up, The Damned: Prodigal Sons, was released in 2008. In addition to The Sixth Gun, his current projects include Crooked Hills, a middle reader horror prose series from Evileye Books; The Tooth, an original graphic novel from Oni Press; and various work for Marvel and DC. Somewhere along the way, Cullen founded Undaunted Press and edited the critically acclaimed small press horror magazine, Whispers from the Shattered Forum.

All writers must pay their dues, and Cullen has worked various odd jobs, including Alien Autopsy Specialist, Rodeo Clown, Professional Wrestler Manager, and Sasquatch Wrangler.

And, yes, he has fought for his life against mountain lions and he did perform on stage as the World's Youngest Hypnotist. Buy him a drink sometime, and he'll tell you all about it.

The ending doesn't make much sense, but that's horror for you. It is drenched in blood and swallowed up by the insects that were the leitmotif of this story. The trip is pretty enjoyable, though, and well worth reading by horror fans.

The Valgeroti rejoice at Gregory's return to them and at his blessing. He is their true leader. After being hypnotised Anton has come into contact with his own past life, that of Alban Comstock, the man who had Temperance and her acolytes hanged. He and her apprentice Faith dealt a second heavy blow to the order on its resurrection. They already understood that it would return to power. Their fight is resumed when Alban takes control of Anton's body.

I kind of figured this whole series was going to be a 3 star read across the bar but I did end up bumping the final volume up a star for the excellent story work and the really cool time jumps. At the beginning of the first volume I started to get a little lost but the book ended up finishing really cleanly. This is my second run that I have read by Bunn and I am eager to pick up more from him!

The series ended in a way I wasn’t expecting and honestly was better than I thought it would be. Pleasant surprise of a series. I thought it was mostly okay through most of it, but this final volume really makes up for it.

4 stars is a little generous probably. It a good book. Awesome premise. Great story. Great art. It lacks something though. I'm not sure what it is but it should have been more compelling. Maybe the storyline was too jumpy? I don't know. But overall still worth the read. 4 stars.

Interesting!! What an intriguing ending, that left me feeling both satisfied and like I had a few lingering questions to mull over. Cults, huh…

”No one wants absolution. They want to do whatever they like and never be blamed.”

Adrian’s complex role in all of this comes a head here and I finally feel like I have a good grasp on the what-is-past and what-is-now and what-is-future. When you first start reading this series, it can be a little intense holding all the concepts in one frame. Lots of characters to keep hold of!

I’m glad I stuck this series through so I could see the whole picture in the end. I’ll admit as a whole I found it… okay but if you’re someone who likes cults and gore and time based fiction, you’ll like it even more than I did. The style is fun, the plot is thick, and I’m not mad I picked it up!

Regression Vol 3
This story or rather a book is well written and has all the qualities to be called a horror story.

I don't know about anyone else but for me, this book definitely grabbed my attention from the outset up until the end, and that's what a horror story should do to a reader.

The character names are complex to be honest, but characterization was well developed and a reader can easily identify characters and their role in the story.

This is a book I'd definitely recommend to any horror fan; a book that'll trigger your emotions and build a lot of suspense along the way.

Thanks to the author for producing such a world renowned story.

Yours faithfully: Edwin Mokoena

First off, the art by Danny Luckert is disturbingly wonderful. There are so many emotions in his faces and he does gross extremely well. The final volume of Regression was my least favorite but it might have been because there is no "previously in" page. With so much going on, it would have been super helpful. Many time periods are present and I think I know what happened. However, I'm not positive. The "is he/is he not possessed" stuff wore on me. The book made me think and wonder about these people/cult. Overall, a decent book and series with a somewhat anti-climactic finale.

Well, the final volume was pretty much the same as the two before it.

Adrian and Molly's stories are intertwined, but not in the intriguing and interesting way I was hoping. The time jump thing was a bit unexpected and I was happy to follow it through, but in the end, it fell as flat as everything else about this comic book.

I'm glad I read the whole thing in one night because at least it's out of the way now.

I had high hopes. Oh well.

Great final volume (to my total surprise). I think they figured out what the story was really about in the second half, and the parallel timelines worked really well. I hope this had been the case all along.
