I am a registered nurse, working with patients with long term conditions. I have now specialised in Diabetes. It is because I am dealing with conditions that do not respond well with medication like acute conditions and infections do, I have for the past 10 years, been looking at other healing modalities. I am interested in nutrition and various forms of exercise as they are the cornerstone of managing most conditions. I apply a mixture of modalities to treat pain, stress such as NLP, hypnotherapy, TFT, quantum touch. I have received training in angel healing and flower therapy which I find very useful tools in my healing repertoire. What I find rewarding is my clients being empowered and having happier and more fruitful lives.
I was given a free copy (ARC) of this book for review, and am doing so voluntarily. The sugar management advice at the beginning of the book is brilliant, so many people need to cut down on their intake of refined sugars, and the suggestions given for this are simple enough for everyone. I loved the in a nutshell healthful advice at the beginning of each chapter, and the nutritional breakdown of every individual smoothie. And the recipes! Yum! What a great little book!
This is a nice large print book by a registered nurse who works with patients with long term conditions. She has learned a lot in her career, and she now specializes in Diabetes. I am one of those people who is a true believer of listening to those who have worked with or lived with people who have special diet needs. I truly believe you learn a lot - you learn what works and what does not. I took care of my late mother-in-law who had Alzheimer and I learned a lot about her diet - it made me more aware of those with special diet needs and I understand more now. I have tried a few of the drinks in this book and they are yummy. She follows each recipe with a nutritional information per serving list. The last 2 page list reference links.
If you are a person who needs color photos - this is not the one - that is why I give it 4 stars. I like color photos in recipe books and I am a person who loves everything smoothie or juiced especially if it is green related - I'm a big supporter of green smoothies and juices.
When it comes to giving a review of this kind of books it takes time to try everything out and to see result. I have now used this book together with "Nutribullet Soup recipe Book" which is also by Stephanie Shaw and I have seen amazing results.
First off the book is is easy to read and understand which is very good. I like how it is in sections depending on the result you want or what you want to focus on.
The recipes itself are very nice and easy to follow. I have tried every recipe but one which contains kiwi which I am allergic to. The others I have tried more than once and I have a few favourites. For example I start my morning with the Broccoli and apple smoothie. I cant imagine a morning without it. Then I also use the Ginger and kale, normally in the evening as my "last meal" of the day. I dont like to go to bed with a full stomach but not on an empty stomach either.
The others I use when I feel like it and change which once I use. Sometimes I make one before my work out and sometimes after. I find I get way better result from my work out with these smoothies than with just protein smoothies/drinks.
I absolutely love the taste of the green smoothies. I was a bit sceptic in the beginning to put some the these things in a smoothies, some ingredients I dont like but mixed together in a smoothies it turned out so perfect and lovely.
I have had great results while using this book. I have better results at the gym, I feel more energised during the day, better skin and better hair. I feel and look more healthy and have slimmed down. Together with the hot soups in previous mentioned book, I have gotten a more balanced life.
it is a bit of planning in the beginning and it took a bit longer to do the weekly food shopping and preparing the smoothies but after a while I got more secure and knew how to do so it got easier and faster. They are perfect for people who wants to eat more plant based food, want a filling and healthy smoothies and want tips and ideas on how to make better life choices.
I can really highly recommend this book because it is truly awesome and really helpful. I will continue using this book because it is so easy, helpful and filled with healthy, great tasting smoothies.
The Author was kind enough to provide me with a copy of this book in exchange for a review, which I am happy to provide. This was actually perfect timing because I was just looking for something to help me loose the weight I gained being a full time caregiver and boost my energy which was totally depleted. My plan was to try the recipes that would apply to my problems, but I found the anti-aging Avocado and Blueberry Smoothing very yummy and the Apple and Green Plantain Smoothie, that promotes Health Gut Micorbiome ,my go to Smoothies. There is really something for everybody in this book and to my surprise some of the combinations that I was dubious about tasted really good. Every recipe is easy to follow and really easy to incorporate into your diet plan. I would definitely recommend this book to all my friends.
The smoothie recipes tasted great and made me realize I could add a lot more veggies into my smoothies without losing the taste. It actually reset my taste buds somewhat. I didn't crave as much sugar afterwards and I cut back on the number of sugary snacks I needed. One of the best things was that the kids actually liked some of the recipes as well, great way to get extra fruits / veggies in them without a fight. Hats off to the author!
I received a copy of the book from the author for my honest review. Great easy recipes to follow that are healthy. There are recipes for heart health, detox, weight loss, energy boost, healthy gut, anti aging and radiant skin. I tried the mixed lettuce and berry smoothie and it was yummy. Thanks for the copy of the book Stephanie.
Green Smoothie Recipe Book by Stephanie Shaw Starts with dedication and short intro, then table of contents where chapters are broken up about nutrition and then different types of smoothies. Each chapter starts with a title and short summary of the section along with a medium size color photo. Each recipe has a title, list of ingredinets and how to make it are included. Love that you can use the nutmilk bag as we make our own yogurt. There is one picture at the very start of each chapter. Nutritional information is included per one serving: calories, carbs, protein, total fat-NOT broken up into good and bad, Sodium and fiber as per a 2000 calorie diet plan Love combinations of things I already grow in our garden that would enhance the flavor of combos. Love that each recipe gets its own page of information. Lots of references are noted at the end. Author picture and bio listed at the end. Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
