Born into a family of great wealth, she has never wanted for anything…except for a man who truly understood her. Her parents, constantly exasperated by her inability to find a husband, have just about given up hope. They think her irresponsible and childish, but she thinks they all have missed the point entirely. When another suitor decides that he doesn’t want to marry her, Victoria decides to take matters into her own hands. Finding an advertisement in the Matrimonial Times for a rancher in Oklahoma who is looking for a bride, she decides to write to him.
She is faced with the difficult realization that the life she always imagined might be an impossibility. Disappointing everyone at every turn, she starts to see that she might not be cut out for a life on a ranch with a man who has worked hard every day of his life.
Will she choose to stay and learn? Or will fear overcome her, and make her return home empty-handed?
This book swept my heart away... Loved it from beginning to end. The level of detail provided is excellent and the vivid imagery made me feel warm inside. Realistic story and an enjoyable plot. I will be reading more from this author, thank you Bella!
Bella Jean is one of my favorite writers of western historical fiction. She brings her readers back to the 19th century and so colorfully describes her characters' lives and what the old west was like. The story does a great job of keeping the reader engaged -- Excited to read more from this author
This was below average. The premise is interesting but execution was poor. The thing is, when I started to read this, I was hoping to read some romance and till the end, I found none. The relationship between Victoria & Henry have no depth. Gah, I am disappointed.
Fun and adventure in the Old West! I have to say that I am not generally a fan of historical romance. But this one won me over. I am not telling you any more than that. Just get it.
