I'm not 100% sure why I gave this even Three stars, I suppose because to a new reader, Deadpool meets James Bond meets Men from UNCLE with a few laughs is still worth a read? I'm a secret agent, and my name is Pool, Deadpool.

The Deadpool mini-serials are a dime a dozen and seem to be about making more dimes for Marvel. The covers and art aren't too bad though, and if we get to see more of the characters featured it won't all be a waste. 7 out of 12., Three Stars.

The name’s Poo – Steaming Pile of Poo aka Secret Agent Deadpoo(l)!

So a James Bond-type dies in a fire, Deadpool takes his identity and everyone assumes Wade’s the Bond-type, he’s just badly burned from the fire – oh hi-larious (if you don’t know, under the mask, Deadpool looks like a burn victim).

Christopher Hastings lists off the predictable Bond references: Q, M, henchmen, villain who wants to take over the world or something, villain’s lair, Moneypenny, gadgets, women, lotsa action, and martinis. There’s even a fight in the snow a la the opening scene of The Spy Who Loved Me.

The story is pointless, none of the jokes are funny and the whole thing is predictably dull pap. I’d hoped that Hastings was going to produce something more compelling and creative after his excellent run on Gwenpool but unfortunately, like most Deadpool comics these days, Secret Agent Deadpool isn’t the least bit interesting.

I may have bought this for my fiance and then decided to read it.

Having never read a Deadpool comic before, I was very happy. The artwork is beautiful and Deadpool is just a massively awesome character.

A really fun ride of a book!
Deadpool, while on a mission to kill a man who goes by Jace Burns, gets more than he bargained for when it is discovered that he is trying to take down a Secret Agent! This leads to a case of mistaken identity, when Burns' organization, the Risk Management Agency or RMA, thinks that Wade is just a burned version of their agent. Stepping in to finish the mission as Agent Burns, Wade gets caught up in a web of intrigue and spy games against rival organization Medusa, complete with all the hilarity of a typical Deadpool comic.
Love that Wade has tons of these Volume-contained stories.
Recommend. A quick, fun read.

Pretty bad, pretty dumb, lots of 4th wall breaching, lots of James Bond ragging, low brow comedy, but hey... it’s Deadpool, so I didn’t expect much!

First Deadpool book and I will admit, it was the first one available from my local library. I have seen the movies and thought it was about time I read a Deadpool book. Christopher Hastings is another new name to my comic book author knowledge. This book is quick and fun, not much else is going on here. You don't need the lore of endless arcs and stories to read this book, and for that I was super happy.

Why the 3?

The book is fun, but empty. I don't have a lot of comparison for Deadpool books, but looking at this from a comic book reader overview, it doesn't hit the highs I like in the medium. This feels like Marvel giving a writer the chance to go nuts with the property. Hastings keeps the book fast and the story moving and with that intent it works. I like more depth and storyline, but that's just me. Maybe missing the books purpose, but years of reading comics, it didn't have me recommending it over the others I have recently read. More Deadpool books are coming though.

I always love Deadpool comics, but I thought the jokes in this one we're particularly on point. I laughed a lot.

Deadpool impersonating a secret agent he was hired to assassinate--that's the basic plot, and it delivers everything you would pretty much expect from that set-up. This wasn't the funniest Deadpool story I've ever read; there weren't really any laugh-out-loud moments, but I certainly did chuckle a few times. The truly amusing thing about this graphic novel wasn't so much Deadpool's one-liners (there was only a handful of fourth-wall breaks *sad face*), but the sheer ridiculousness of the plot. The secret agency was a part of the USDA?! The villains were trying to steal God's pencil to rewrite reality?! To paraphrase what Deadpool said towards the end, this was a James Bond story with an Indiana Jones ending--and, as a parody of those franchises turned up to 11, this was a pretty enjoyable (if not far-fetched, even for Deadpool) read. I wouldn't say I'd recommend it, as there are better Deadpool stories, but there are definitely worse ones too. Deadpool is a difficult character really "nail." Still, if you're looking for a short, fast-paced, and still fun (and funny) read, then this is definitely worth a look.

Really enjoyable from start to finish. It's James Bond (Jace Burns) meets deadpool and there's a lot of tropes from your typical spy movies here used really well to match a deadpool story. Seeing Deadpool working as a spy was a lot of fun and gets him into a lot of trouble with a lot of people.

The ending was a little goofy but overall the story was interesting and funny and an all round fun time.

This is the version of Deadpool that I enjoy most, from a character perspective. Not pure references, not too juvenile, and with the right amount of pathos and insecurity that enhances his relationships and humor. The anti-hero loner with strong morals makes the story amazing against the issues that can bring down the spy genre.

I was expecting the silly shooting and crude Deadpool. And then I remembered as I cracked it open that Hasting as the Gwenpool author likely could give us something really smart.

In the end, this is a great spoof on James Bond and the spy genre. And we get to see Deadpool in a very different light, which is interesting to see as he navigates a world where he is a good fit.

I always enjoy Chris Hastings writing, especially when he's in a bonkers world that makes no apologies for its bonkersness.

The story gets a bit in the weeds, but it does so in the same way that James Bond movies do so it completely fits the setting.

I thought this one-off story was amazing and hilarious. I wish that there were more books of Secret Agent Deadpool because I've had the James Bond theme stuck in my head all day and I've felt like I've been on missions when running my errands. (What a sad, sad life, I know.) Anyway, the jokes and the overall Deapool of it all just made my day better. I really liked how the premise was set because that Burns guy seemed like a total douche that didn't appreciate what he had. Deadpool had been lagging for any freelance jobs lately, so it was pretty cool that he got a lucky break as a secret agent. He got to be a better version of burns, use awesome gadgets, and beat Statueface, who felt like a bad guy all along. I also absolutely loved all the mask twists. It truly felt like some kind of spy movie. Arch Director Blank secretly being Jace Burns all along was awesome because it means that Deadpool didn't even have to kill someone in order to be on the good guys' side. Ms. Shortbread being a part of Gorgon hit me kind of hard. I had been shipping Wade and Ms. Shortbread since the train ride and he did seem to have some feelings for her, too. But having god-like power doesn't seem like the most stable girlfriend. And I'm almost certain that the whole God's pencil thing was a break in the fourth wall and Deadpool just made sure the story was written the way the author wanted it to go. The ending wasn't even that bad, considering. There could still be hope for Wade and Ms. Shortbread (though I can't find her first name anywhere) and Imp is freelancing with Deadpool. Even Clopples finally made it home. All's well that ends well when a horse finds its way home. I recommend this book to those looking for a pick-me-up.

This was better than the other Deadpool book, almost like a little bit of Archer (more asshole Archer than funny Archer though) with some Deadpool. It's too bad that movie Deadpool is nothing like most any of the comic Deadpool. I'm sure there are people who've read way more of his books that I have who will disagree with that in so many different ways but eh.

Deadpool is hired by a cuckolded husband to kill his wife's lover, who turns out to be a spy. The ensuing explosion leaves everyone thinking Deadpool is the spy horribly burned and wacky hijinks ensue.

This is a super fun mini-series that gives the Deadpool spin to a bunch of spy movie tropes. Should appeal to fans of Archer as well as Deadpool.

I skimmed through it just to much to read the artwork not a big fan of felt to cartoonish, do like the bond nods and character made as a tie in to the second film due to the bond credit like sequence. Maybe there will be more bond and Deadpool nods in the future. 3/5 maybe Daniel Craig should make an appearance and kill himself again. That would be funny, this is a review of all 6 issues

I was legitimately surprised to see some of the negative reviews of this, since this was SIGNIFICANTLY better than most of the Deadpool comics I've read. Because Chris Hastings is actually funny, and knows how to write funny comics (not always the same skillset, unfortunately).

Well that was awful to read! Boring and typical superhero storyline. Storyline is so weak and boring. Art style is like someone did it on a computer for a kids magazine, evidently not for me. Target audience is very young.

A fun Deadpool/James Bond mash-up by Hastings and Espin. The book was obviously goofy but at times actually funny. The problem with most Deadpool books, and its the same here, is that there aren't any actual stakes. Overall, a fun but disposable book.

An older, amoral version of Deadpool takes a ride through the secret agent genre with a lot of fairly obvious humor that nevertheless pokes some great fun at James Bond and company while delivering a ride suitable of Deadpool's typical absurdity. It's not deep but it's fairly fun.

The first two issues were awesome then #3 came to a screeching halt. The next three issues had the classic secret agent ups and downs. Not a bad read but far from great.
