I adore books that come with examples and exercises!
This is a pixel art book aimed at beginners, which I certainly am, and it even provides you with recommended future reading at the end. Very helpful! ^_^

It's fun, short and full of drawings. What else do you want from a book? :)
My only wish it spent more time on how to draw different materials and textures. It goes briefly into how to draw fire, metal, wood and.. jello (huh?). It's a good start

Another unique title from No Starch Press. I literally know of nothing else like this.
A Quick read, and an extensive tutorial with lots of examples and sample files to start from. If you want to master pixel art, this looks like an excellent place to start.
