Meet Graham Tettersaw, former star quarterback. He blew his first shot at success, but now he has a second chance at playing football . . . and at having a life.
Graham’s not about to squander this new opportunity with a rising team. No way. They’re about to make his dreams come true, even If they did just add a weird clause that he’s supposed to pretend some random chick is his girlfriend.
Whatever.
Teams can be weird about stuff. But Graham can play along. After all, it’s all about forward progress.
In football, getting the ball down the field and scoring is goal number one. Life isn’t all that much different. That’s why Graham is hoping to do some scoring of his own off the field. Especially when he finds out the pretend girlfriend the team has picked out for him, Eden Vetterly, is beyond hot.
But it’s not all about sex.
Graham really likes Eden.
And she likes him too—a lot.
Too bad the team just changed all the rules.
Forward Progress is the first book in the new Men of Fall football rom-com series, where football meets romance.
S.R. Grey is a USA Today Bestselling Author of the new Breakaway hockey series and the popular Boys of Winter hockey books and Men of Fall football novels. Other New Adult and Romantic Suspense works of hers include the Judge Me Not books, the Promises series, the Inevitability duology, A Harbour Falls Mystery trilogy, and the Laid Bare series of novellas.
When not writing Ms. Grey can be found reading, traveling, running, and cheering for her hometown sports teams. Sometimes all at the same time!
Eden Vetterly has baggage. Not the baggage you might think, more like responsibilities. Responsibilities she is trying really hard to meet but never quite gets there.
Graham Tettersaw is a former football star with a second chance at stardom. That second chance comes with some stipulations, one of those being Eden Vetterly.
Let the games begin :)
So the blurb tells you basically what the plot/gist of this story is so I don’t need to say much on that. I will say that I enjoyed myself a lot reading this story but I wasn’t that happy with the change of plans the team thru out there to Eden and Graham. It just didn’t make for a very good conflict. IMO, it came across kinda dumb. Especially the reason behind the team’s about turn. The story lost a little shine for that for me but not enough to cancel out all the other good things. Just a tiny little bleep lol
I love the author's voice. She makes the stories fun to read. It isn't a chore to pick up one of her books and just read for an entire afternoon. Eden and Graham had great personalities and sparks flew all around!
New-to-me author S. R. Grey had me smiling throughout this story. She wrote two very interesting characters and and original story line that truly had me curious as to how this was all going to play out.
Graham Tettersaw impressed me right from the beginning. He's honest, trustworthy and finally looking for something for himself. He wants his second chance and to prove that he can still play football. He can and will do just about anything the team asks of him but, after meeting Eden, getting to know the person she is, he can't tolerate what they are making him do. His only hope is to make it to the play-offs and then he could write his own contract with the stipulations that he wants, with the woman he wants in his life and they could take it or leave it.
Eden Vetterly has lived her life for everyone, now she may be doing this for her brother but she's finding out that there is a lot more to the hot football player than brawn. There is compassion and brains behind that hot body. She's falling for him but knows that it's just for show. Until he lets his true feelings shine through and she can't help but let herself go.
S. R. Grey wrote really interesting characters. These were two people who were selfless and truly thought about others before themselves. It was a refreshing change from the alpha male and female that I have been reading. It was a light story with a little drama. There were times that I thought the writing was a little simple but it worked. The supporting characters were perfect. They really added to the story and were an essential part of the story.
I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to reading more from S. R. Grey and the Men of Fall. She truly wrote a fascinating story with two characters that you will absolutely adore.
5 Star Review Forward Progress (Men of Fall #1) by S.R.Grey
Book one in an exciting new series from S.R. Grey and I was so excited to dive in. Graham Tettersaw is a former star quarterback looking to get back into the game he loves. When an opportunity is forthcoming, the only catch is that the team requires he be in a steady relationship.
Enter Eden Vetterly, a woman, in need of money, she is the perfect woman to play the part. However, the fact that there is an instant attraction may complicate the arrangement as the chemistry between them is off the charts. Will they be able to ignore their smouldering attraction or will they give in to temptation?
I really loved both the characters, separately and together. Forward Progress is full of drama, steam, laughter and romance and I absolutely devoured it. Graham is certainly swoon worthy and Eden is a woman who could be my friend. If only they could ignore the outside influences threatening to destroy them, they might just get their happily ever after.
This was a great start to the series and I cannot wait to see what S.R.Grey has in store for the Men of Fall. Who will be next?
This was a good read. Graham is a football player trying to make it back after an injury. He needs a girlfriend so his agent finds Eden. Things of course become real between them. They do have to deal with some things. Thankfully in the end it all works out.
Graham is on the newest US/Canada NFL league team as the QB. One issue they team as is they want him to be in a stable relationship. So part of his contract is they are assigning a live in girlfriend Eden to make him look good. Eden and Graham have instant attraction when they meet but fight it for the sake of the contract. Love will always find a way to happen.
Great start to a new series. I want to know more about this new league and the players.
Graham is a quarterback that is trying to get back into the game after having messed up his first chance. He has worked long and hard to get back to the point where teams will look at him again. When his agent tells him that the team wants to make him more marketable and to do that he needs a fake girlfriend, Graham doesn't really put up a fuss and is willing to go along with the plan. Eden is determined to make sure that her little brother has every opportunity in life, and if she has to work double shifts every day, then she will. When Eden gets the offer to pretend to be Graham's fake girlfriend, at first she is unsure but she knows there will never be another offer. Deciding to make the best of this situation, the last thing Eden expected was to be attracted to Graham. The last thing Graham expected was to spark with Eden on their first meeting. In a pretend relationship that is laced with rules and stipulations, what could go wrong?
I really wanted this to be more than it was. Don't get me wrong it was ok, but I kinda wanted more from the situation than what we got. For me this was just an ok read, the drama felt a bit forced to me, the naughty bits were a big hit and actually saved the book for me. I give this 3.75 stars.
Graham Tettersaw is a former NFL quaterback who is looking to make a comeback on a new "minor league" team called the Columbus Comets. He's made some mistakes in his past, which is why no NFL team is interested, so Graham is intent on cleaning up his image and getting back on the gridiron.
The team decides he needs to have a girlfriend, and his agent, Jock, finds him the perfect girl, in Eden Vetterly. She works at a diner in town and takes care of her 15-year old brother, since their father passed away.
Graham and Eden has instant chemistry, and their fake relationship quickly turns real. But the team has them both under contract is pulling all the strings in their relationship, and when Graham's popularity with the ladies takes off, he's told to end things with Eden.
This is the biggest issue, to me, with this book. I have a hard time believing that any team, major league or minor, would want that much control over an athlete. If anything, I would think a team would want its athletes happy, and being in a loving relationship made Graham happy. The fact that the team wanted to exploit Graham's sex appeal, while ruining a relationship, just felt - well - not genuine.
I did like the characters in this story. Eden is a very strong lead. She's very optimistic, even when life has her down. She was sweet and loving. Her brother, Paul, was a sweet character as well. I did really like Graham as well. He was a caring brother, and excited that he was going to be an uncle.
One other complaint - this is the beginning of a new book series about the Comets and we really didn't meet any of the other characters who will be introduced. I found that to be a little odd. No locker room smack talk.
Overall, this book was pretty good, and if you're not a football fan, you can probably get past the things that bugged me.
I have been craving another sports romance to start the New Year and this book did the trick. S.R. Grey as always gives us a fun and sexy romance with sprinkles of feels everywhere. Eden's story is one filled with a lot of hardships and left taking care of her teenage brother is one of the hardest. Graham has a past filled with victories and downfalls, one being some trouble he got in after an injury. Graham's new opportunity at a fresh start places him in Eden's path. They both are thrown together in a different way but end up falling for each other. That's all I will say without giving anything away. Once again S.R. Grey has us falling for a broken athlete and rooting for him. Absolutely a must read for all fans of sports romances.
I was given an advanced readers copy of this book and have decided to leave a voluntary honest review. I usually love this authors books, but for some reason forward progress wasn't one of my favourites from her. To be honest I didn't like the story line all that much. I did still enjoy resding it, it just wasn't what I expected. I Remeber Graham from Benny book. And I really liked him then still do now. Eden did what she had to do I dint blame or fault her. She's actually a really sweet girl. I'm excited to see what's next for this author.
Whoo Hoo! Another great series by S.R Grey. I loved her hockey series and now we get football!! This fake girlfriend/boyfriend story is probably typical for the genre, but this one makes it all the more better with great characters, and descriptive scenery. I want to live where I can sneak off to a private spot and look at the stars and just be. Grey makes it so beautiful, even in the snow!
This is definitely a one sitter, I couldn't stop with all the greatness in these pages!

I love the stories about fake love turning into reality and this was one of the good ones, very sweet.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings Lots of good dialogues Steaming chemistry between the main characters The storyline is building to a happy ending. Well described characters that’s developed in to realistic personalities
Narrators: Clear pronunciation and read with feelings, I really enjoyed listening to this story
Sweet read.. i would have like to have seen the characters grow a little more, but overall its was an enjoyable read and would absoultely pick up another book by this author
What a great sport romance read, this is the first time that I have read a book by S.R. Grey and I am sure that it will not be my last. I could not get enough of Graham and Eden. Graham who just wants another opportunity to prove that he is an amazing football player and even though he made some poor decisions in his past he wants to show that he has learned from that. Eden the sweet beautiful hometown girl who is not only taking care of herself but also her younger brother. She is selfless and knows that she has to find a way to pay for the education that her brother needs. In order to do the best for her brother, she took on the contract proposed by the football team to be Graham’s live in girlfriend. Who would 've thought that the sparks were going to fly, Graham and Eden both deserve love so why the complication? I really enjoyed this book. I look forward to reading more bookings in the Men of Fall series.
Audiobook review: I really enjoyed listening to this audio where both Graham and Eden are brought to life and you really feel like you are immersed into their story. I have listened to audiobooks done by Reagan before and really love the way she narrates. This is my first time hearing Teddy's voice, I must admit I am now a definite fan. These two together have really made this story amazing and I cannot wait to hear more in this series. There is so much love, friendships, family, drama and some rather sizzling moments as well! I laughed, sighed, swooned and have to say its a definite win in sports romance for me!!
I've tried this author a few times now and none of the books have hit the mark for me. While I enjoyed the main characters and overall plot, the pace and writing style just didn't hold my interest.
Eden and Graham found love at first sight. Jock choose well for his mission. Just enough humor, heat and heart in this story. So glad it ended in a happy way.
I’ve read a lot of fake girlfriend/boyfriend romances, but Forward Progress stood out amongst them all to me. This was a genuine couple who instantly fell for each other. No dancing around and pretending the other isn’t interested. Well Eden tried but that didn’t go so well.
Eden is tasked with taking care of her brother due to a tragic family history. She’s juggling waitressing and trying to raise a 16-year-old boy. It’s not easy. When Paul is accepted to a fancy art/boarding school she knows this is chance of a lifetime yet how will she afford it. When a nicely dressed gentleman approaches her in the diner offering her a job she is immediately on edge. He wants her to be the fake girlfriend of Graham Tettersaw a new football player with a shady past. All she has to do is fake it till the team says it’s over. No problem right sadly she is about to have her world flipped upside down.
Graham has always loved football. When an injury took him out the beloved game, he became addicted to his medicines. Now clean and trying to right all the wrongs in his life he is learning he is doing things for everyone else just not himself. When his manager Jock drops a deal in his lap he knows this is his chance. When the team decides to clean up his image he reluctantly agrees. Anything to get him back into football even if its minor league. When he meets Eden for the first time, he is more than agreeable about the decision and sets out to know this beautiful girl. With a team trying to cultivate an image and Grahams heart making its own decisions he knows this love won’t be easy.
I really liked Graham. He knew what he did was wrong and tackled it head on. He made his lists and checked each goal off. He was trying to redeem his image. Eden was pretty real. She faced real life problems and was doing her best. I loved these two together. They exploded. Their world stopped when they met. It’s almost an instant love type situation. This was my first book by this author and I can’t wait to read more of the Men of Fall!
This is the best time of the year for any books about football, especially if your team, like mine, is out of the playoffs, and S.R. Grey has penned a winner in my eyes with Forward Progress! See, Graham Tettersaw was a former pro QB who got hurt which led to circumstances that helped end his career. It took him some years to get out from under all of that, but now that he's attained some smaller goals, it's time for him to tackle the biggest one, to try to play football again. Luckily for him, his agent got him his chance, and he's not about to blow it this time. Eden Vetterly is a hard working young woman who is taking care of her teenage brother since her parents died. There's never enough money, and her brother seems to be getting in trouble quite a bit more, so when he gets an opportunity to go to a private art school, it's some money even with a scholarship, she knows she will do anything to make it happen. Enter Graham's agent. His team wants him to have a pretend girlfriend to help his image, and the money is too good to pass up. But when they meet, and start to spend time together, they find that maybe the pretending won't be so hard. This story had everything to love for me. They had chemistry, though it wasn't insta lust, nope, it was some slow burn, but once the sexy times hit, they lit the sky up. Drama plenty, as he's a sexy football player, with a contract, and all kinds of female fans. And Eden is an independent woman who wasn't in anything for his money, so she's a bit stubborn about certain things, like anything for herself. There's a cast of secondaries that had me laughing a lot, so they added more depth to the story. Obviously there was football, which I already stated, then twists to have my f-bombs dropping, and head ready to blow up with rage! Anyway, I loved this story, can't wait for more in this new series, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I am an absolute, hands down fan of S.R Grey. SHe writes a kick-ass hockey series and I love those kinds of books. So, imagine my surprise when I find out she is writing one about football and I had to jump on that. This book is fun and drama filled. You get two main characters that you will fall in love with. I unexpectedly fell hard for this football romance book. I even get to catch glimpses of people from her hockey series.
When I say fall, I absolutely did head over heels. These two have great chemistry and they are so much alike and different. They both have battles to overcome. This is a fun, flirty, sassy sports romance with enjoyable leads and secondary characters.
Graham Tettersaw is trying to make a comeback. After his injury, his world imploded after he became addicted to the pain pills. Three years later is he stronger, more confident, and knows his limits and he also gives back. Not only that he wants to make a comeback. Says he has never felt better.
Eden Vetterly is living paycheck to paycheck while trying to support and raise her fifteen-year-old brother after their father passes away. Mom is non-existent. At the same time as later, she has been having some trouble with her brother. So when he is offered a scholarship at an art school that he wants to get to she is in over her head with money. Then an opportunity presents itself and she takes it. She needs to be the pretend girlfriend of Graham Tettersaw. A man she has never met before.
The attraction is instant. They have great chemistry as I said and are two genuinely great people. Very humble and aren't show-offs. Either one. Though to begin Eden is struggling and Graham is down to earth. Loves his family and is close with his sister. So when they really do fall for each other the unimaginable happens. What do you think will happen and what will they do? Come read it and find out.
Forward Progress Men of Fall #1 S. R Grey ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Aww I now remember why I enjoy Sports romance, although I don’t rad a lot of them. But Eden and Graham were so sweet and not your normal jackass that high profile sport players. Forward Progress is told by both Graham and Eden, giving a very in-depth look into their lives…
Graham Tettersaw had basically hit rock bottom, living in Las Vegas he lost his what Le football career after a nasty knee injury and an unfortunate addiction to pain medication. One phone call from his new manager Jock, he might just have a new opportunity for a new beginning, but it will mean moving to Columbus to play for the Comets. But while this is his new opportunity to reinvent himself, it comes with a contract that may make or break the man.
Eden Vetterly is stone broke, working as a waitress and has got a notification her little brother has been offered a very good opportunity at an art school that is not cheap. While working a shift at the diner, she is out on the spot by an older gentleman just oozing money, with a job offer that could change hers and Paul’s life around. The job is simple, be a pretend boyfriend to the Columbus Comets newest Quarterback, live with him, make everybody believe it… simple right???
With a tight contract, more money than she can conceive, anda hunk of gorgeousness to play with, this should be the easiest money she ever made. But when pretend turns to real, life for Graham and Eden turns sour. The club changes its mind, creating havoc. So while Graham and Eden find their 2nd chance, they might lose everything…. In a scheming mean run, The Comets club rein hell on the couple, threats and setups, nothing is off limits for them to get what they want, but will it be at the devastation of their star player and woman he’s fallen for.
Graham💘Eden! Great Story & Audible Listen🎧 Sweet Romance! 4.5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Forward Progress Men of Fall, Book 1 By: S.R. Grey Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Reagan West
This is a great book, it grabbed my attention right from the start and held it to the end. The storylines and characters are interesting and realistic. Graham Tettersaw misses his time on the field, he gets a second chance at playing for a team in a newly created football league. The team has conditions built in to his contract, which includes the team controlling aspects his private life and his image in social media. They want him to have a steady girlfriend, his agent Jock finds one for him. Eden Vetterly, a hard working waitress is the legal guardian of her younger brother, she wants the best for him and makes sacrifices for him, including signing a contract to pretend to be a girlfriend to the new quarterback of the Columbus Comets. There was an instant attraction when these two met but they held back not knowing what each others deal was. I loved how well plotted this story was, it had a nice flow to it, from getting to know each other to the build up of the relationship. Eden and Graham were great together and for each other, both were stand up people with huge hearts, putting others before themselves. There is never a dull moment in this book, it all plays out nicely, with plenty of drama, a twist here and there and some hot romance. This is my first book by S.R. Grey and it will not be my last. Thank you for this great story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Teddy Hamilton and Reagan West are terrific narrators and voice performers. They bring these characters to life, give each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. They do an amazing job projecting the emotions of the characters and the drama of the story info their performance. Each are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen🎧

Author S.R. Grey does not disappoint with this new series! This is fun, fast, flirty, read that leaves the reader ready for more!! She gives us a glimpse of our favorite hockey players and introduces us to this new world set in the football realm. This is the first of what I hope is many books in this series!!
We get to meet Eden for the first time, but if you are familiar with the author you may recognize Graham...from Las Vegas...gym owner....but if not, you will get to know him (and swoon over him). Graham is re-entering the football world after a career sidelining injury, some pain pill abuse and a new career move....but the team wants him to have a girlfriend, steady home life and overall boring existence off of the field. This is where we meet Eden, the girlfriend.
Eden cares for her teenaged brother and is struggling to help him to meet his goals and potential, until she gets a contract to become Graham's "pretend" girlfriend...but is it pretend? What happens once his reputation is back to 100%? Will this plan work or back fire?!?!
The author ties the story up for us and gives us the ending we really want...but not without some drama. If this is your first book by this author or your 10th - it is still sure to become one of your newest favorites! I am already looking forward to book 2 in the series!! Be sure to one-click this one today and be prepared to become invested in these characters! This is one of those books that leave you no time to do anything else...it's that good! A must read and a must read NOW!

Book 1 in a new series from S.R. Grey and if Forward Progress is anything to go by this series is certainly going to be a big hit !! I can honestly say there wasn’t anything I didn’t love about this book I loved the characters, the story, the funny banter and did i mention the sizzling smoking hot chemistry, well this book has it all and so much more. Graham is looking to start playing professional football again but no team in the NFL is interested but a new team in the lower league has an offer a contact as the starting QB on one condition, Graham needs to be in a stable relationship he needs a live in girlfriend...... Eden is the perfect fake girlfriend and she needs the money so can Graham make her an offer she can’t refuse and will the couple with an instant attraction to each keep it purely professional or will they act on their feelings well I guess you need to read the book to find that out....... I loved Graham so much, he made me laugh and he has the biggest heart and what can I say about Eden apart from she is passionate and caring in fact these two are just perfect together. I loved how this author pulled in her characters from her previous hockey series without them taking over the book and I can’t wait for book 2 in the Men of Fall Series. Great Job S.R. Grey.
There is something about the style that SR Grey writes that I just fall for. It's so familiar, yet the story is always brand new and has an edge of humor. I love this first book in her new series! It has all those feelings. Graham is recovered from what was thought to be a career ending injury, and pain killer addiction and is ready to play football again. But the only team that will look at him at his age is the Comets...and there are stipulations. Eden is always taking care of others and now in need of money to send her brother to private school she takes the chance and becomes one of those contract stipulations! Eden and Graham are to pretend to be in love and she has to live him. But will this pretend relationship turn into something more? I fell for this couple, the crossover from Men of Winter, with Dylan and Chloe, the slow burn, the stars, and the car. It's all there for the taking and I can't wait to see what SR Grey has in store for Caleb in book 2!
Now for the narration. With a man like Graham, we need a voice that is warm, yet strong, compassionate, and protective. Teddy Hamilton gives his all to this with his wonderfully warm voice. He can project every feeling, becoming the character and making me believe his is Graham. It's a gift. By his side, Reagan West blew me away with her portrayal of Eden. She can create her characters with such style and emotion that I get swept up in the story. This team was nothing short of incredible.
Forward Progress by S.R. Grey “Unexpected love, 5 stars”
Graham is all about setting goals and killing them. There is only one left that he’s dead set on and its one that could change his life again. He wants to play football but after his injury he was told he never would, but he’s up for the challenge. He thought his only obstacle was showing a team he’s still in shape and can pull it off, but there’s more to it than that. Will he accept everything they throw is way? Eden is raising her kid brother and trying to find the balance she needs to make it all work. All she wants to do is be able to provide her brother with a life she never got. When an opportunity falls into her lap to do just that will she be able to take it or will she hold back? What happens when it leads to the unexpected? The attraction between Graham and Eden burned off the page. I hated all the trials Graham and Eden had to go through to be together. I loved Paul and hope that once he’s a little older we can get his story. As for Eden and Graham though I loved how strong they were and how they could just roll with the punches. I was cheering for them from the start and hope you feel the same way. Plot-5/5 Characters-5/5 Heat-5/5 Writing style-5/5 Overall-5/5
Can the Columbus Comets Football Team handle an Ex Injured NFL Quarterback that has turned his life around for the better or will the stipulations of his contract make him go crazy .. Maybe crazy in LOVE ??
Graham Tettersaw know's this might be his only chance to ever play football again .. with his career ending knee injury with the NFL Graham has worked his way back to better health .. not without some slip ups BUT now he is better than ever. The Comets still want him to prove himself on and off the field. Sooooo they have some weird, fun and life changing stipulations to his contract .. Stipulations One .. Eden Vetterly ..
Eden is the sole provider for her 15 yr old brother and she will do anything for Paul .. even become a fake girlfriend in order to put him through Art School. When she comes in contact with her mark for the first time something happens .. is it sparks .. is it true love at first site or it is just plain fear that she can't go through with it ??
This new installment of the Columbus Comets just might give the Las Vegas Wolves Ice Hockey team a run for there money ..
The characters are a hit and the story line is a BIG SCORE !! LOVED IT !!
Lets see if these characters can stay in character .. <3
