We started off as strangers Then you became my knight Right then I knew it was love at first sight Our eight year age difference was a small thing to a giant.
You showed me what it felt like to be loved. You loved me unconditionally, at least that’s what I thought it was. Your jealous rage and fits I couldn’t resist. That time you wrapped your hands around my neck and sealed it with a kiss. I swear I never knew love was like this.
I birthed your only child Finally, I saw a change I thanked God you were no longer the same.
Then I realized something so dark is deeply embedded. You had me fooled thinking I was forever indebted. Somewhere down the road, I lost sight of me A sign read: 5 MILES UNTIL EMPTY
Nadia was such a bright soul with her entire life ahead of her! She was a 19yo college freshman and did not look like what she’d been through. With a drug addict for a mother and an absentee father, she essentially raised herself. She remembered a time where she was her mother’s everything and somewhere along the way it all changed.
Despite this, Nadia still works in conjunction with her full time college schedule to ensure her mother has a safe place to rest her head. After one night of coming to her mother’s aid yet again, a near traumatic experience leads her to her knight in shining armor. She falls head over heels in love only to realize that time reveals the true intentions of people.
My heart went out to Nadia and I hate what she had to endure! She went from being such a bright light in the world to barely surviving in darkness! I blame those closest to her that KNEW what she was dealing with and did very little to help her. All I can say is ain’t no way, ain’t no fkn way in my Future voice.
I’m glad justice was ultimately served but the price wasn’t even close to being a like for like in my opinion.
This would have been a 5 star read for me but some parts of the story felt rushed and lacked seamless transitions. This was an older book in Kyeate’s catalog so I took that into consideration.
I can’t recall if there were trigger warnings but read them because the book did read a bit heavy. It touched on addiction as well as mental and physical abuse.
This was an emotional read but never the less a good read. I was sad for the out come of Nadia. I just knew that she was going to move on from Taveon. In the end he got what he deserved.
Nadia is a teenage girl who is forced to live an adult life. Her mother is battling addiction and her father is not in the picture. In steps Taveon, a much older guy, with a reputation for not keeping keeping his hands to himself. At first, he sweeps her off of her feet, but then...
This novella completely broke my heart, because there were people who knew what was going on, but chose to do nothing. The outcome had me floored, but the ending left me feeling vindicated. 💎💎💎💎💎
This is my first read by @kyewritez, but certainly won’t be my last. I’d like to thank @tajuana212 for recommending it.
Nadia was such a focused, an ambitious young lady until that snake came into her life. It was almost unbelievable that she would fall for someone like Taveon but once I thought about her life and how she worked so hard supporting a drugged out mother, she surely needed love and attention. Unfortunately, no one taught her what love looks like so she fell for the wrong person. It was ironic that her mother turned herself around while her child was sinking, yet she didn't do as much to save her daughter. Well written and insightful. Highly recommended.
Man I felt so bad for Nadir I wished she could've got out if her abusive relationship, now their daughter don't have either parent but I was glad Nasir did what he did to Travon bc he deserved to die for all of the pain her put her though. This was truly a heartfelt story and had me in my feelings and this author is right abuse is not love. I appauld this author for writing this story bc I know it was very hard on her to relive this. Thank you Kyeate for sharing ur experience with us & for getting out safely.
I downloaded this book the moment I asked for some domestic violence reads. I loved this book. The flow of it was amazing and the development was so natural, I loved it. The ending made me cry, I’m actually crying while writing this. I read the ending to fast but when I took the time to re-read it the tears started up. Job well done, I look forward to reading your work in the future. This definetely is an eye opener.
This story was wow! The characters' backgrounds were realistic and relatable. I was really pulling for Nadia, and thought she was going to hookup with Marcel. As the story evolved, I became more engrossed. I did not expect what happened to be Nadia's plan. Blown away by this story!
I enjoyed this story. It was so good but sad. Why? All the signs were there. Nadia had a great spirit and a bright future until she became weak for Taveon. If everyone knew Tavern had a problem beating women, he should've been handled before it went too far. This was a sad story, but this is still happening today.
You got me about to cry cause I know people that have been in relationship like this I even got beat on by a man and it's not fun or cute but I really can relate to this story great job
This book is really touching and I couldn't stop reading it... Domestic violence is such a serious issue that so many love through and survive through daily...thank you for this book
Never judge a book by its cover tayveon portrayed this nice person when he was the total opposite I hate that Nadia lost her life but domestic violence is real but he got his at the end great read
Man I was rooting for Nadia to get herself together. At the first sign she should have broke free but hindsight is always 20/20. I loved the character and story development. I can’t read the next one.
Thank you so much for spreading the word of domestic violence through this story. I once was a victim of domestic violence and I’m so glad I walked away when I did. Great story.
Great story everyone man woman and child should read this story simple just to be aware of people and their actions. Every I love you is not real and the signs are there keep up the great work!
I can’t stop crying and this book brought awareness to something that plagues women all over the world. We wish, hope and pray for something to change instead of taking steps to protect our hearts and our life. I’m so glad you gave a major issue a voice.
I thought the story was good but it was really short with a lot of errors. Some parts moved fast and I was losing interest at first. The author had a good flow going on and I would read more by her
I loved Nadia and her spirit. I ached for her to find self-love. Yes, this book was about DV, but it was also about reconnecting with self love. The editing issues did take from the book’s powerful message.
My heart goes out to all women and men that are experiencing DV from someone. This book hit home and none of us will ever understand why they go back. This was a tough read and I’m in tears. 5 Starsss WOW
Domestic violence is real.. I hate Nadia had to go through the things she went through and never got a chance to fulfill her college dreams.. Taveon was a coward point blank period.
