The TRUTH Behind the LIES is written by a man who had been arrested for promoting peace, conscious awareness, and living without government control. Years later, free from his prison and on a mission to find his beloved wife, he finds refuge and an empty journal. While writing about what he thinks caused World War III, he makes the grim realization it was not up to the governments or military to make sure that mankind was peaceful. It was up to each of us.
What a unique and fantastic read! This is fictional journaling at its finest. A lot of his (Rau’s) thoughts can really put you in your own mind. It’s easy to forget this is a piece of fiction, and it really makes one wonder what lurks just ahead of us.
Rau does the writing here masterfully, taking a very hard style (journaling style can really be hard for a reader to jump into), and making it worth the read with the thoughts and ideas/experiences.
Some of the journaling is really more like letters to the main character’s wife, Summer, but even then the style is consistent enough to follow. Be patient with this one, once you get past the style it’ll hook you in for a great read!
This really is a story of personal accountability on the big stage of the world. We all have a part!
Canadian author Jaeson D. Rau writes like a man with a mission. His first book was HOW TO NOT BE AN IDIOT WHEN YOU GET DIVORCED and now he offers THE TRUTH BEHIND THE LIES: ONE MAN’S JOURNEY THROUGH WW III. Though there is little biographical data available, a bit of search on a website reveals that Jaeson is a Husband, Father, Red Seal Journeyman Electrician, Author, Radio Personality, Speaker, Coach, Restorative Justice Mediator, and Parenting After Divorce Consultant.
Jaeson has shared some thoughts pertinent to this book; ‘Along the way I have questioned things, with legitimate questions that seem to have answers which are different from what we are told. I have lost friends because of this, I have family that monitors the conversation at family functions because of me, I’ve been told on social media I need to be locked in a padded room. Yet I would rather be locked in a padded room than believe what they tell us, because none of it makes any sense. Some of it’s not even believable without doing any research. I don’t go out of my way to be different, I’m not looking for attention, if I’m being honest I really don’t want to be doing any of this, I just want to be living a quiet life with Jessica. But it doesn’t seem right and it’s affecting everybody. And it’s so blatant something is wrong. Somebody needs to say something. While writing this book I got to learn why human beings are failing, that we are actually taught to keep each other from success, at times it felt like I could actually feel people’s hands on me trying to hold me back. Doing something outside the box, questioning the government, questioning the military, trying to find out where the cause of divorce, war and hate was actually coming from. These things actually put a strain on every relationship in my life, like I said put some to an end. Does that even make sense? Shouldn’t the people around me have been supporting me?’
In the well written Introduction Jaeson states, ‘It was sometime in late September 2010, we were sitting on his back deck smoking a joint when out of nowhere he looked at me and said two things I will never forget. “First of all”, he said, “something is wrong, something is very wrong with our world. I have realized there is supposed to be some magnificence in what it means to be a human being living on this planet, and we’re not living it. As far as I know I have never lived, and maybe never will live this magnificence, but I’m going to learn what it is and what it means”. Pausing, he eventually said, “bro, you’re gonna think I’m crazy, but it seems as though the people we look to for leadership have lied to us. It seems that the leaders of this world are taking advantage of us, shouldn’t they be encouraging us to live this magnificence I wonder about, but they don’t. Unfortunately, I think they have chosen to do this on purpose. We need to start talking about this, we need to figure out what the leaders of this world are up to, and we need to figure out what it means to be a human being”. He was taken in early 2019. As far as we are aware, nobody has ever known where they took him. We really know nothing except that the military took him one night. A few stories have circulated here and there, but nothing concrete has ever come of it. Near the end of 2021 we heard the rumor that someone found his journal, months later it was confirmed that someone had found his journal and was able to get it to his wife, Summer, through the underground. When she came to ask if my wife and I would keep his journal for safekeeping, we agreed because we knew it was too dangerous for her to have it in her possession. As you know, nowadays we get shot for having information that raises human conscious awareness, and ever since the day they took him, they have watched her like a hawk, we couldn’t take the chance of having her caught with what you are about to read. It is to important. Summer also asked me to condense his journal, she wanted me to turn it into a small book. She thought it was important to get what he had written out to as many people still alive as possible. I told her that I had no clue how to put a book together, that I would probably wreck whatever message he was trying to send, but I decided that if I read the journal, I would leave myself open to new possibilities. I ended up agreeing that if he had written the journal in such a way that I could put a small book together without having to do any of the writing myself, I would. The last time we saw Summer, she smiled and told us she thought he was still alive. She said she could feel him. It was then agreed by all that we should just present his journal to you the way in which it was found.’
And so a journal it is -‘The Truth Behind The Lies is about a man who was arrested in 2019 for promoting peace and conscious awareness, he was speaking out against the government and trying to get people thinking for themselves. Eventually he is free from his cage, and finds an empty journal in a farmhouse along the way. In his journal he writes about how he has realized his responsibility in helping create World War III, how he is responsible for being separated from his family and he makes the grim realization that it was not up to the governments or military to make sure that mankind was peaceful, it was up to us.’
No, pretty it is not, but it is important to listen to concepts that are a bit outside the box. We learn if we question – and Jaeson D. Rau questions!
I had read this author before and that book of his was about his divorce and how he’s coping with it and such. This book is different and although it is a work of fiction, I could not help but think that these are his personal thoughts. Anyway, I read and finished it in three days because it was so interesting, it caught my attention span and kept me reading on yearning to find out what will the outcome of his protagonist. It is a narrative of a man who has recently escaped from imprisonment where he was tortured, raped, and starved by his captors. He was taken by these captors for “simply encouraging people to start thinking for themselves, to live in harmony with the planet and other human beings.” It is a journal-esque book of him writing from a shelter in the woods (he stumbled upon it after his escape) and the writings are addressed to his second wife called Summer. The narrator who is unnamed keeps on assuring her that when they are reunited he will give her all the love and appreciation that he feels she deserves while also loving his children with her. Finally, the narrator stated in this book that he “wants whoever will be reading this journal of his to take it seriously because he needs to write about what he feels led the human race to World War III.” Here are some concepts and views this narrator addressed throughout his book here that interested me: “Feminism is one cause of divorce and trouble among the human race.” This led to women becoming uncomfortable in their own skin. It is where women have become unappreciative of what is perceived as a female’s natural duty but instead are programmed to think and behave like men. “No one really knows what they are believing in anymore.” This is when people around him were just repeating what they learned from the news but they actually are discussing the same topics about politics, the economy, and war over and over it exhausted him. “The whole man on the moon accomplishment is indeed a thing that seeks to discredit the Bible, making an attempt at separating mankind from God.” “They taught us what they wanted us to know in school so we would behave the way they wanted us to when we were adults…” “No actual laborer is superior over the other laborer. Everyone needs each other for each other’s talents and skills.” In my humble opinion, this book has its strengths and weaknesses all the same. When you read it, be prepared to take from it what you think is beneficial for yourself and your family as well as leave some ideas that may deem otherwise. It is a great book for those who love to read and debate ideas that may be extreme or interesting to their established way of thinking. I simply enjoyed this book for its storyline, a man who was abducted by some secret society to where they made him suffer for being unique and different among others. For simply trying to encourage others around him to be more peaceful and loving of each other. God bless.
I am a bit biased because I wrote this book. However, I put it away and let it be for almost a year, then picked it up again at the beginning of Jan/20 for another read. What a different book.
Post WW3, the main character finds himself free from his cage (in a POW camp) and heads off to find his beautiful wife and best friend, Summer. During his journey, he starts dealing with what humanity did to create this disaster. What ensues is a man who is realizing just how important HIS actions have been to what is happening in the world. As he carries on he realizes that you cannot look to others for change, happiness, or any other feeling or outcome. Each person is responsible
There is a love story mixed in this little book, some drinking and swearing. What I find amazing is the personal journey he takes within.
This book must be read more than once! The first read is difficult for people because this book is written as a journal. People are not used to reading a journal, they are used to reading a book with structure, page breaks, chapters. So make the first read fun, knowing the second time around it will all start making sense. Some readers have told me they are on their 5th reading, and learn something new every time.
The Truth Behind the Lies: One Man’s Journey Through WWIII by Jaeson D. Rau uses the personal touch of a journal in order to encapsulate thoughts on society and mankind as a whole. The format is a little tough to get into, the main character's words form one long rant after another. He even indicates that he is ranting to his wife Summer as he goes on and on about tough subjects. Having seemingly escaped from war, and hanging out in a remote cabin after he becomes free, he embarks on recounting his thoughts in this expansive personal expose'. From tackling subjects like mass consumerism to adultery, to addictions of all kinds, to simply letting our lives go by, the author has taken great pains to point out the ills of society, and blames us, not the government for war and much more. We let this happen. This is certainly a unique book, and one that requires several readings in order to digest the content, The Truth Behind the Lies is a tour de force that is a great social commentary of many of the horrific issues plaguing man today. Highly recommend.
Is this a terrifying glimpse into the future? 'The Truth Behind the Lies' by Jaeson D Rau is written in journal form, offering the perspectives of a man who was once jailed for advocating peace, whilst World War III was raging. Once released and searching for his wife, he finds an empty journal, which offers him a much needed way to organise his thoughts and musings on the world. Whilst trying to figure out the real reasons behind the devastating are. He considers the impact certain things have on the world, discussing the effects of the likes of excessive consumerism, addiction, apathy, and many others. He becomes to realise that everyone must share in the responsibility of the war because even if it is just in the smallest way, we allowed this to happen. We ignore things that matter and don't speak out when we should.
'The Truth Behind the Lies' is a book that really makes you think. It makes you look into the big issues of today and how we should be more responsible for ourselves and each other. If we don't do more, then this is a world we could face in the near future.
A pretty controversial read, but one that is more vital now than at less polarised generations of our past. At times this reads like a social commentary of the present day, although written in a reflective take from someone in the future. A very raw and critical appraisal, but then again how could you reflect on these matters in any other way?
I think I’ll get more out of this from another read-through, so I’m planning to do that in a few months. Lots of what I read really has stuck with me though, so I am looking forward to tackling it again.
In this novel, we are met with the problems we have today, but they are placed in the future and explained by a man who escaped from the war.
I found some paragraphs so important to questioning the world, the self, and the society around us. This man is writing to his wife, Summer, in a journal he found shortly after his escape. He starts with explaining what happened, but as the novel progresses he get into more controversial topics that many think are what crazies think.
I would highly recommend this novel to anyone interested in the things that are primarily kept quiet about.
