After recently returning to her hometown, Emily—a thirty-something, divorced, mother-of-three—is determined to find some semblance of normalcy or happiness in her life. She turns her focus on her children and fighting alien invaders in her work as a science fiction author. When her kids travel to California for the summer to visit their father, Emily is on her own for the first time since her teens. Her plans to spend the summer working and lazing with her sister are derailed as she meets her gorgeous neighbor, Alex, and his incredibly sexy friends, Troy and Max. A relationship that begins as a summer fling is destined to end, but Emily wonders if they could end up as something more. However, not everyone is happy with their relationship in the small, Pennsylvania town. With jobs and children on the line, can Emily and her men find love? Or is their relationship doomed to end as a Work in Progress?
*18+ Reverse Harem Romance. Warning this book contains scenes that some people may find triggering*
With a character who’s in her thirties, a mother, an author and restarting her life after a divorce, you can’t help but love Emily. She’s honestly a beautiful MC, a little bit of a klutz, a baseball fan, an amazing cook and lucky enough to have found three perfect men. Quinn Arthurs has written characters who will capture your heart, with emotion, romance and a fabulous storyline. Literally all the feels, in one story. This is honestly one of the best contemporary stories I’ve read recently and I can’t help but feel that Quinn Arthurs has put a little bit of herself into the story. Sliding Into Love is a truely beautiful and enthralling story, that will leave you wanting more. I’m already anticipating the next book in the DeWitt Sisters series.
This story addressed all the hurdles of being a divorced mom, regardless of it being a multiple partner relationship, these things happen! It was such a breath of fresh air to have realism represented. No secret squirrelly things, no young love... there was only two things that I didn't enjoy. The tone for each character was pretty much identical. They all used the same words, especially "adore" I got sick of hearing that word, I'm all "adored" out lol The second was that aside from baseball and her being a mama bear to her kids and rocking her divorced life... I don't understand why they all fell for her. I mean... they shared their pasts in conversation but I never "got" the connect between them on that deeper level. Eh.
A believable contemporary reverse harem with heart
I love Reverse Harem books. The main reasons for loving them are the (usually) hot sex scenes and the interestingly complex emotional turmoil that comes from trying to manage multiple parties in one relationship. To be honest it doesn’t have to be RH, I enjoy all varieties of ménage and polyamorous groupings for the same reasons.
This book starts with a recently divorced woman, Emily, who has three kids. She had her first child when she was 17 and married the father of that child. Her youngest is 7 and after that child was born her marriage fizzled out. She has stayed friends with her ex but he lives on the other side of the country. She recently moved back to her home town after leaving there when she was 19 because her ex moved to San Francisco leaving her with no one to support her in Georgia where they both moved from.
The book starts just as the kids are planning to go and spend the summer with their father and leaving her on her own for the first time in her life. After dropping them at the airport she meets her neighbour, Alex, and his two friends Troy and Max and she joins in with their guys night. Their relationship starts to slowly form.
I love that Emily adores her kids and has always tried to put them first, that she has tried to remain on good terms with her ex and his new partner and that she and her sister have a great relationship. I also love that she is insecure about everything except her kids, that she slobs around in leggings and t-shirt, lives for coffee and writing her self-published sci-fi books.
The relationship that Alex, Max and Troy have is an amazingly strong friendship. They have been through some rough times together and have supported each other.
The relationship between all four of them forms in a believable way. It’s a gradual process where things become clearer as they talk together about what’s going on. It evolves in the way a normal relationship would and they accept there may be difficulties but decide to take the plunge anyway.
It’s a very well written and well paced book with interesting characters and plot line. Though it’s a happy for now ending, I still really want to know what happens next!
Confession time. I was nervous about reading this book. I frigging love the series this author is co-writing, but I didn’t love her first solo book. It was alright, but it didn’t bowl me over. When the teasers started I was really interested: it’s a novel about a divorced mom with kids getting into an RH relationship. That rarely happens in RH, so it was definitely intriguing.
Now, this isn’t truly the “other side” of RH: how RH works with kids. But it gets close to that. This is such a good book. The only reason I put this book down was because I was on the point of exhaustion, but I still finished it in less than 24 hours. I’m so glad I decided to give it a go. Emily is every typical mom, with schedules and bickering and insanity on the outside, with the insecurities of being self conscious, trying to be someone outside of “Mom,” and still trying to feel like you’re a good enough parent on the inside. THIS. This is a protagonist I can relate to. Like, ACTUALLY relate to. Most importantly, though, I can still vicariously live through her and enjoy the story. It’s a fine line that the author has definitely found with this book. What I also really liked about this book was that it wasn’t insta-love. We all know someone it’s happened to, but by and large, that’s not real life. And I’m not going to harp about “realistic”in a novel; most people read as a form of escapism and enjoyment. They don’t want real life. But love at first sight would not have been believable for this character, not with three kids. That does not mean this is slow burn or fade to black. It’s definitely not. But it has a good pace on it, the story moves along nicely, and you get swept up in Emily’s story. There was a bit towards the end that I was worried there was going to be a cliffhanger. However, I can confirm there is not in fact a cliffhanger (thank whatever deities you believe in). That said, I’m still super into this storyline, and I’m excited to see what book 2 is going to bring in.
Have you ever found a book you were really excited to read but didn’t start reading it because you were already anticipating the book hangover? Well, I finally gave in! And let me tell you, the book hangover is real. Fingers crossed the next book comes out soon to put me out of my misery.
I was sucked into this world, Emily’s life, and her story immediately. A recently divorced mother of three, Emily is trying to pick up the threads of her life while balancing her children and sister, her work as an author, and her quick situation change and move back to her hometown. Emily has sass, spunk, intelligence, and more love than one might initially expect. Quinn Arthurs has written characters like Emily, Jenna, and Brooke who are very relatable and down to Earth, as well as realistic, wonderful men like Troy, Alex, and Max. I believe the aspect of this book that struck me the most was how easily I could see pieces of myself in the characters, relate to experiences and conversations, and still have my heart feeling joyful and light after reading. This is a truly wonderful contemporary reverse harem that I plan to reread again and again.
I laughed quite a bit, I cried very ugly heaving sobs, and I fanned myself more than I care to admit. I can only hope that you will know the joy and entertainment that I experienced reading “Sliding into Love”.
Who would have thought that second chances come not once, but thrice?
Newly divorced Emily thought it would be wise to moved back to her hometown and start over again. Taking care of her three kids while writing sci-fi novels for a living, Emily has no time for anything even for herself. Until she met her neighbor, Alex and his two best friends Max and Troy.
For those who have watched the movie “Home Again” and left wishing it should have been an RH, then this book is for you. The book was very well written, characters well flushed out and very relatable. The angst the characters were going through on overcoming the stigma of being in a polyamorous relationship is very realistic. To say that I was hooked is an understatement. This book made me laugh, cry and fall in love all over again; and in my book, this warrants a solid 10.
I cannot wait for the next one!
*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review*
This was fantastic to read, there are not enough RH reads out there with children involved. I know it’s not “sexy” to have children in the mix but it’s far more honest and frankly very realistic, in my opinion anyway. I absolutely loved the single mother angle and it was done in such a perfect way. Quinn Arthurs managed to fit the full spectrum of emotions into this read, making it believable, easy to relate to and entertaining. I was only one chapter in and already felt emotionally invested in Emily, her children, and the outcome of the book. I was drawn in right away and captivated by the story that Quinn did an incredible job weaving. The emotion was real, the scenario even more so and the conflict and turmoil were all extremely authentic. I’m so glad I read this book and cannot wait to read more, I highly recommend this contemporary read.
ahh quinn arthurs you continue to do outstanding and suprising things :) a work in progress is an amazing read from start to finish the plot and characters are all well developed emily and her men are verry real and beliveable as if they were actual peoples contempary is not normally my cup of tea unless its done verry well and quinn has done more then that shes done fantastic job creating beliveable characters and verry real world situation its rollar coaster of a ride from beginning to end and one you dont want to miss keep up the fantastic work quinn and im looking forward to the next one :)
I absolutely positively loved this book! I was completely hooked before I had even finished the first page and I stayed hooked right up until the very end of the story. So many ups and downs and twists and turns that I definitely felt like I was on a wild roller coaster ride. This is my first time reading anything by Quinn Arthurs and I must say I’m hooked on her story weaving style so much I went and bought several other books that she’s written because I’m digging her awesome work. So it’s a big HECK YEAH I most definitely do recommend this book because I thought it was amazing and I think everyone should read it!
Emily is just your everyday frazzled single mom just trying to make it through the day. She loves her kids more than anything and it’s hard for her to realize she deserves love too. That she deserves something for herself. This is an amazing story about a woman coming into her own, realizing she IS beautiful, inside and out. Troy, Alex and Max are the men who help show her just how worthy she is. If you like contemporary, with some heat thrown in for good measure, this is definitely the book to read!!

I was looking forward to this novel and it did not disappoint. Emily is so well written as such a real mother figure between her gripes about parenthood and overall outlook and attitude. It was so easy to connect with her as a character and relate especially being a parent. Once I started reading I didn't want to put it down and would without hesitation recommend it to others.
I have to say that I have enjoyed the author in her co-writing works, but this book was amazing. It is so relatable as a story of dealing with preconceived notions and prejudice in society, but love is love. I could not put it down until I devoured it all! I cannot wait for more of this series and to see how the story continues!
I loved how Quinn has taken a different spin on this story and has an older MC, with children and is divorced. The storyline was believable and your heart went out to her. I loved her clumsiness and the rawness of her feelings and turmoil! I really hope we see more of Emily and her blossoming relationship with Troy, Max and Alex, possibly even through her sisters eyes would be interesting?! Fab read!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Emily is just real and I love her. She’s kind of a hot mess - a klutzy, curvy, successful author, did I mention klutzy 😀, and great mom. This is a contemporary RH. I related to Emily’s insecurities and liked how she challenged herself. I liked how the guys put the kids first. There were parts that made me smile and some that made me cry, but it all just felt real. I hope we get to visit them again.
I just read this, but it is called "Sliding Into Love" on my kindle and has a completely different cover
I like that it wasn't some dreamy situation without any real world repercussions. The things that happened made sense, except for Libby. I wish I had more clarity on her weirdly underwraps past. It seems like Emily knew, but the reader didn't get all the details, unless I missed them somehow.
This book was laugh out loud funny. The mc is a plus size sassy divorced mom of three. After settling back into her home town, she gets to know the neighbor and his friends a little better while her kids are visiting their dad. Things get complicated when the summer is coming to an end. I was hoping for more when the book ended. I hope we get more of this groups story in following books.
This story touches on so many issues. But it is well written and realistic. Emily struggling to be herself while balancing work and kids. Something I can relate to. I highly recommend reading this contemporary romance. I can't wait to see where this story will go from here.
I loved the premise of this book. An average woman who is divorced with 3 kids and figuring out how to date again. I did feel like the story was rushed so the relationship with the 3 guys didn’t feel well developed. This book definitely could have been expanded to 2 full length novels and I think the relationships would have been a lot better. I still want to read the next one though.
Wow. That one word covers it. Most people don't read 5 star reviews because they build up the book. This book builds and stands for itself. The heroine is someone all moms can relate to. The kids are realistic. The relationship - sweet, hot, realistic.
The world is changing, and this book shows just how much! It has kove, passion, and a mother who would do anything for her kids! It shows real life, and how you can find love in the strangest and most wonderful of ways. Even with 3 men. I love this book so much and hope it's not the end!
Life doesn't always work out as planned, and this lovely novel takes you into the bidding relationships of a single mom dating again. Not traditional relationships can be difficult to weather in the public eye, and the author does a beautiful job lifting her characters from the pettiness of society.
Oh my goodness I loved this story! I obviously will be needing more of this series. I cannot believe how true to life this story feels when you read it it's almost like your watching it happen now. It's not like syfy where you have to imagine another world or in the past where you kinda picture it it's movie quality writing in the present
Read the republished version titled 'Sliding into Love' but the content was unchanged.
Loved it!! Believable, emotional and fun story. I rarely find convincing contemporary RH stories and this was a very nice exception. I would have prefered a more extensive ending with a HEA instead of a HFN but still it was beautifully written.
I really liked this book! The storyline is really good! I'm so glad that the author has added the single mother aspect to the story it added just the right amount of interest
This is a definite must read book you won’t be disappointed. Such an amazing story line and the characters are great. The story flows from one page to the next. Can’t wait to see what Quinn brings us next.
Such a great author! I always enjoy her books and the new one didn’t disappoint. The characters and plot were well thought out and relatable. Thank you again for writing it!!
I absolutely loved this book! If people ask me what they should read I would definitely recommend this book. It had some stuff people might find triggering but it was a good book
Such a wonderful book! I have read many RH books and this was such a different one. A woman with a family already established and three men willing to make it work. I loved every second of this book.
The emotional connections made in this book was amazing. There were twists and turns that I never saw coming. I could relate to parts of the book. It was an amazing piece of writing and I can't wait to see how it continues.
