Mr. Match #2

Scoring a Fake Fiancee

Rate this book
TRACE:

My twin sister found love using the dating site everyone in San Diego is talking about — Mr. Match. And now that she’s happily coupled, she thinks I should look for my match.

The thing is? I’m pretty sure I don’t have one. I’ve got soccer. And maybe that’s all I really need — it’s definitely the only thing I’ve ever really been able to depend on, besides Erica.

I signed up. But what I got was not what I expected.

I did not expect to feel so much for a woman I’d only just met. And I definitely didn’t expect to find myself agreeing to pretend to be her fiancé.

The question is, if this is all pretend, why does it feel so real?

MAGALIE:

When I moved to San Diego from France, I thought that would be enough to convince my mother I was committed to living my own life. But when she announced she was coming to visit, and bringing Henri — the man she wanted me to marry — I panicked.

Maybe using a site designed to match you with your soulmate wasn’t the right way to find someone to convince my mother I was engaged. Maybe convincing my mother I was engaged wasn’t the right way to get out of the arranged marriage she was trying to force on me.

And maybe there’s a lot more to my fake fiancé Trace Johnson than he’s willing to show the world.

I wish I didn’t want so badly to find out what’s beneath his bravado (and his shirt).

I'm USA Today Bestselling author Delancey Stewart. My contemporary romances run the gamut of settings and setups, but they always deliver humor, heart and heat. It's a guarantee.

I write from my home in Denver, CO, where I manage a household full of boys and men. Okay, only one man. The hubs. But two boys. I mean, three if you count the hubs. (You see why I do words and not numbers. I was told there'd be no math in this bio. Someone lied.)

I grew up in California and have had more jobs than anyone on earth (personal trainer, pharmaceutical rep, copywriter, tech writer, marketing director, wine seller, elementary school teacher... I have to say, at 27%, that I'm not liking the lying vibe from this book. I was hopeful that the lying wouldn't last long and that the angst in this book would be caused by genuine reasons, not manufactured and contrived circumstances. And it's not making me like the h much at all. She's weak. I can't stand plots where a MC (or both of them) lie to loved ones for a long time, in order to avoid some really uncomfortable outcomes. Maybe it's because I just read a book like this last week With This Ring that I have no tolerance for the lies. I am going to finish this since it's Delancey Stewart and I'm hoping she'll make it work in the end. Stranger things have happened.

Upon finishing, I'm glad that Delancey Stewart didn't drag out the lies between the MCs for too long. They were honest with each other earlier than I'd expected and that was nice. What wasn't nice was that once that was resolved, the conflict became about a pro soccer player afraid to split his love between his old love, soccer, and his new love, the h. The obvious solution? Dump the girl. Duh. Unfortunately, the OTT drama queen, AKA the h's mother, added her own insecurities to the mix and the h decided she never wanted to love again. Obviously, another totally rational reaction to everything.

I wanted to like this book. I like Delancey Stewart's writing, even given the fact that she tells stories in the first person. Surprisingly, I don't mind it when she does it. I liked the dual povs, with the odd Max chapter throw in for good measure. Some of the monologue was funny and cute. However, the plot was just too cliched to be enjoyed.

Safe and as I may said the plot as just similar into road demographics of the country where I lived ( Netherland )

No up hill or down hills, pretty flat but quite amazing when it’s rain as well clear sunrise and sunset

I have nothing bad to say

Good story and good characters
4.5
I loved this second opus of the Matchmakers series. It's a bit predictable, but it's very additive once started. The characters are endearing, both pushed by their entourage to apply to Mr Match (Trace is pushed by his sister, and Magalie, by her employer to get rid of her mother who lives at the time of forced marriages). Both are therefore matched, without the desire to develop a relationship, but only to get rid of someone who is oppressive.
The questioning between football career and relationship is equally interesting.
I also appreciated the fact that the book starts on the first of the 16 pages of the famous questionnaire ... it gives an idea of the twisted side that we could find in the other 15 unrated

This was a cute story we have Trace and Magalie who unfortunately for them are being coerced to find someone. They both join Match and end up being matched and fortunately for them that they are liking each other way too much than they really expected. Magalie was a grown up and needed to be strong with her mother who was way to invested in her daughters life. Luckily for her that she met Trace..

Magalie needs to find a way to make her mother understand she needs to live her own life. Domineering doesn’t even begin to explain the way Lianne tries to control her daughter’s life – particularly in the area of marriage. Even the fact the Magalie left France and moved to the States to pursue her career as a wine maker isn’t enough. Her mother is coming for a visit and bringing a potential fiancé for Magalie with her! As a last resort, Magalie fills out the Mr. Match form hoping she can find someone to pretend to be her fiancé so her mother will leave her be.
She didn’t count on being matched to super-hot Sharks goalie, Trace Johnson.

Trace Johnson is fun loving and focused on soccer – the one thing that he can count on, besides his twin sister Erica. But something is missing, and he agrees to sign up for Mr. Match. Besides, it worked for Erica, and she won’t let up until the form is finished. Sparks fly the instant he meets Magalie, but she only wants someone to pretend to be her fiancé. He agrees, but being around her only makes him fall harder. What will he do when Magalie’s mother returns to France, and the charade is over?

This book is hot and tender and gives you all the feels! I’ve read a lot of Delancey Stewart and I have to say, Trace and Magalie are one of my favorite couples!

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story so much. I really enjoyed Trace's funny side. This story is about Trace and Magalie. She's just moved here from France to get away from her over bearing mother. Trace is the keeper for the Sharks team and it's only he and his sister Erica. She convinced him to put in for Mr Match, like she did to find a perfect match. Chloe suggests Magalie to do the same, since her mother is insisting on an arranged marriage. When Trace her the email stating that Magalie is good perfect match, he thinks there is a problem, she's gorgeous and smart. Trace is a funny guy and but serious at all. As they spend time together they realize they enjoy each others company a lot. When things heat up they both think it's going to be great. To have fake engagement to throw her mother off. But when things get crazy for Trace with games, self doubt creeps in. Love how Trace uses jokes to lighten the mood and take some of the stress off. Magalie is sweet and is there perfect fit for him. I also like how this story also continues to build on Erica and Fuerte's relationship as well

I was entertained by this book and liked it enough to start digging my Kindle for other books by this author.

That said, the premise of this book is one of the dumbest rationales for a fake engagement I've seen for a while. The heroine's French mother is coming to the USA in a few weeks with Henri, a man the mother wants to set the heroine up with. Because the mother is an adult female who will whine and pout if she doesn't get her way, and because the daughter is a spineless wimp who can't say no to her pouting mother, she decides she needs a fake fiance during Maman's visit. She isn't looking for a permanent arrangement, just someone to pretend for the next few weeks. So of course it makes perfect sense for her to join a genius matchmaking service that promises to find her her soulmate, but says it might take years to come across that person.

When the guy she meets thinks she might be his soulmate, saying that she just wants to fake it for a bit isn't the best way to start a relationship. He is also worried how the affair is influencing his football career. (That's soccer for some of you heathens.) But all's well that ends well.

I liked the chapter titles.

Different but sweet

I enjoyed reading Trace's story. He made me laugh in the last book and also in this one. After being badgered by his twin Erica, Trace goes on Mr. Match. Thinking he had plenty of time, he is surprised when his perfect match is find right away. Magalie is living near San Diego after leaving her home behind in France. When her match comes back, she is surprised but then starts thinking how she could use this to her advantage. Her meddlesome mother is coming to visit and Magalie uses this to convince her mom that she is engaged. When Trace and Magalie finally meet, Magalie convinces Trace to be her fake fiancee. What they weren't expecting was to actually like each other. The more time they spent together, the more they liked each other. However, Trace feels like he can't have both soccer and Magalie in his life. He has to make a decision about which is more important. I liked the ending of this book because it tied up both this book and the previous one together.

Fake dating plus attraction equals a hard to define relatinship

Trace signed up for Match to please his twin sister Erica and she would quit bugging him about not having a life. I don't really blame her. They grew up in foster care and have been inseparable. Now that she has a boyfriend she wants to spend time with she can't be his whole world - aside from soccer. Magalie does it to try to find someone be be her fake fiance while her mother visits. Her mother expects her to agree to an arranged marriage with someone she picks and Magalie moved to America from France to put distance between them. So this relationship is fraught with danger from the beginning. I enjoyed all the things they went through trying to figure out how to explain the relationship. With the first kiss things started in another direction. I was angry about the way her mother treated them but at the end I was laughing. secondary characters were well written and added to the story. I was engaged during the whole book. I would recommend . It is a little different than other fake fiance sotries.

Fake Fiance Forever?

Can a relationship really begin with a lie & a ring? Magalie & Trace are about to find out. Can Trace really have it all, after having nothing other than his sister Erika his entire life? Can Magalie finally make her mother understand that she wants a life of her own, not one chosen by her? Soccer has always been the most important thing in the world to Trace, when his game begins to fail, it is too easy to blame that on his feeling for Magalie. Making wine & building her career has always been to priority for her, but asking the American Footballer to be her fake fiance might just be her undoing. Can the two of them pull off the lie when her mom & friend Henri arrive from France? Can Trace handle the third degree from the pint size french woman? Or will he allow her words to sink in & destroy everything? I really enjoyed Trace & Magalie's story, it was sweet, sexy, steamy & laugh out loud funny! The secondary characters are a hoot as well! You absolutley should be checking out this story & series! Enjoy!

"But my heart was telling me something else. That stupid jerk was telling me that if I looked into Magalie's eyes, I could see the doubt there, that I could see the same fledgling feelings for me that I had for her."

Yes, Trace Johnson was falling in love with is FAKE fiancé. To be honest, he went into the whole Mr. Match thing reluctantly, but once he had, he thought maybe he could meet someone. For real. But It wasn't turning out that way.

Magalie Caron needs to fend off her mother. Her overbearing (well meaning?) mother, who has tried to arrange a marriage for her. When she signed up for Mr. Match, she figured she might be able to convince a guy to pose as her fake fiancé. Then she meets Trace. And the fake part is quickly soaring out of the window.

I am truly enjoying this fun soccer romance series. I find myself looking forward to the books of each player even as I am enjoying the one I'm reading. Great series!

I really enjoyed this next book in the Mr. Match series. Trace is a lovable goof who is still figuring out that he is actually lovable. I enjoyed reading as Trace and his sister's relationship evolved throughout the story as they turn to others outside the twin-ship for love and support.
Magalie is not looking for love but immediately appreciates things about Trace that most people miss. Their relationship is complicated form the beginning. Her mother is a real piece of work. I would never have been able to treat her as nicely as Magalie does in this story.
I enjoyed the sports aspects of the story and the glimpse into the pressure faced by an athlete at the professional level trying to balance life and job demands. I really like how the history of the characters is developed to explain some of their fears as they become involved.
A very good book with laugh-out-loud moments and some steam. I am really looking forward to more books in this series.

Trace plays soccer and is wanting to find someone for himself since his twin has someone and he doesn't want to be a third wheel. So his sister talks him into trying the same matchmaker service she used. So he fills out all those questions and hopes for the best. Magalie is a wine maker from France and is wanting to be successful but her interfering mother keeps wanting her to marry Henri who is much too old her for. So Magalie's friend gets her to fill out the matchmaking questionnaire to find someone for her. First off I found it weird that they had letters (as in snail mail) this day and age. Second, Magalie's mother wanting to marry her off to Henri was a bit hard to fathom since I couldn't figure out why Mag just didn't tell her no, no no. I liked Trace and Magalie's interactions. But Magalie left me cold and I thought Trace could do better.

Trace is very much a keeper, both on the field and off. Magalie is just adorable. Add them together and it was pure awesomeness to read! I love how Magalie not only rolls with Trace's fun loving, spur of the moment ideas, she very much revels in them. She brings some calm, grounding to his life too. They are so good together, even when it is a fake engagement. I loved reading Mr. Match's little inputs in the story breaks. I keep hoping he's going to get his own match someday, but for now, I just enjoy reading about the other team members who have. It is a fun ride to read about, with an instant connection, but not insta-love. Trace and Magalie had to work hard for it, with many things standing in the way. But stick it through because the journey is fun but that ending was priceless!

The second installment of the Mr. Match series was just as good as the first. Both Trace and Magalie were pushed to register on Mr. Match. His sister pushed him because she doesn't want him to be alone and she wants him to be happy. She was pushed by a coworker/friend to prove to her mom that she doesn't need to interfere in her life and force her to marry someone. Once they meet, there is so much electricity between them that they both are a little scared by what they feel and how fast.
Even though some of the book was predictable, it didn't stop me from wanting to read through until I found out exactly what happened with this couple. I can't wait to read more books in this series. Ms. Stewart is a definite must read author for me. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

Trace's twin sister had success finding her perfect match via the Mr Match dating app and she convinces Trace to sign up too. Maglie has recently moved to America despite her mother and her insisting on an arranged marriage. Maglie signs up for the Mr Match dating app, hoping to find someone to be her 'fake fiance' while mom visits from France. What will happen when these two realize that Mr Match might have have right from the get go. Will something fake be able to turn into a reality? This is the second book in the series. It is a standalone, however characters from book one make an appearance. If you haven't already read Scoring the Keeper's Sister, I would highly recommend. Scoring the Fake Fiance is an pleasurable read.

I enjoyed this even more than book 1!

Trace Johnson is often the clown of whichever social gathering is occurring. A not-so-pleasant childhood reinforced his feelings of inadequacy, which he makes light of by finding humor in every single situation. He doesn't intend to find anything serious with Magalie, but when they meet and they find that a connection does exist, would the fake relationship they concoct be the reason they don't see that they belong together?

Magalie fled France because of her mother's meddling. In the US, but still not away from her, Magalie searches for someone to help her get her mom off her back, only to realise that he, Trace, might be just what she didn't know she needed.

I liked that Delancey redeemed Trace's character somewhat in this book. Like book 1, we hear from Mr. Match, getting another humorous view of love and relationships. I am really intrigued and invested in finding out how many more players get to benefit from Mr. Match's expertise - and yes, genius.

P.S.: The epilogue is hilarious!!!

Erica’s brother professional soccer goalie Trace is a little juvenile with way he tries to embarrass her in front of her boyfriend and his teammate Fuerte and starting silly bets like who can eat the most saltine crackers or mayonnaise. French wine maker Magalie is much more refined and the complete opposite of Trace. This was an odd, but funny pairing. Her mother was controlling and annoying until she softened near the end of the book. Trace and Magalie’s relationship had its and ups and downs from his disappointment that she just wanted a pretend relationship to fool her mother to thinking the she was distracting him from performing well on the field to being unable to deny their attraction to each other. Ill be curious to see who Mr. “Max” Match pairs up next on his team.

A sweet love story of second chances and finding that right match. Magalie and Trace fill out paperwork to find their one true match and once they open their emails with each other picture they decide to move forward. Magalie is hoping to find someone and have them pretend to be her fake fiance so she can get her mother off her back. Trace wants to find someone but his whole life is soccer. When these two get together will they be able to deny their attraction? Or wonce their pretned engagement is over will they go their separate ways? A great story that will keep you reading till the end to see what happens next.

A well written fake fiancé romance where fate has its own agenda. Nice storyline and plot. It is written in dual POV and that gives the reader more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters and makes it more realistic and brings us closer to them. Characters well defined and they develop nicely through the story.
Two characters that makes use of a dating app to find a fake partner but as most of the times fate throws a game in and they develop feelings for each other.
He needs to have a life outside the soccer and believe a bit in himself. She has to be stronger and more independent and show her mother that she is. Can they combine their lifes?
Entertaining, enjoyable and amusing read.

I’ve been waiting for Trace’s story. We met him through his twin sister, Erica. These two are extremely tight, they’ve had to be.

Erica makes Trace, the goalie who takes his game very seriously, take the same match algorithm she did.

Trace is surprisingly matched with Magalie, a French vintner, working on a small winery in Temecula. She’s hiding out, trying to make her own way, away from her controlling mom.

Smart, funny, sweet, tons of pop culture references and a satisfying growth for both Trace and Magalie.

Recommend.

This was a wonderful addition to this series. With a story line that is funny and sweet, characters that are easy to fall for, steamy chemistry and a totally swoon worthy romance, this book will keep you entertained and very, very happy. Trace & Magalie were so perfect together. These characters are so incredibly different but they fit together seamlessly into a beautiful new whole that was better than the original. This book is easily read as a standalone but trust me, If you don't read book one first after you finish this one, you will want to go back to read about Erica, Trace's sister, in her book. I am posting a sincere, voluntary review.

Trace is a star soccer player who has been convinced by his sister Erica to sign up for Mr. Match as that is how she found her soulmate.

Magalie left France and moved to the US to escape her controlling mother but now her mother is coming to visit, and she is bringing along the man she wants her to marry, hopefully Mr. Match will help her find a fake fiancé.

Trace and Magalie are matched however and although neither is looking for love there is no denying the chemistry between them. Before too long their fake engagement is starting to feel real but what happens when they no longer need to pretend?

Sweet and sexy this story doesn’t disappoint.

I enjoy Delancey’s books. I know I’m assured of a book worth reading.
Despite this veering off course of the norm I thought that Trace and Magalie made a cute couple. You could feel them falling for each other.
Like I’ve said in other reviews for Delancey Stewart she is an emotive writer. The emotions and feelings she is trying to express comes through so clearly in her stories.
If you want stand alone stories with a hea then you are completely safe with this author. That’s not to say that you won’t get your fair share of problems, angst, heartbreak first because you will, but you have the joy, love, camaraderie and steam building between her characters

We first meet Trace in Mr. Match #1 and, I'll be honest, I thought he was your typical dumb jock. After reading this, I still think he's a jock, and he's definitely not brilliant, but he has a charm that grows on you. He signs up for the "Mr. Match" site after his sister (Mr. Match #1) makes a perfect match. He meets his match in Magalie, a woman from France who is working at a local winery while avoiding her overbearing (annoying) mother. I liked that Magalie was honest about her need for a fake fiance', the rest of the romance is sweet, unexpected, and full of surprises. Standalone but part of a series. HEA.

I received this book for Free to Give My True & Honest Review.

Here we see Goalie Trace's turn to find his soul mate, though he gets pushed into signing up to the Mr. Match dating site. And the girl he's matched up with his French Wine Maker Magalie who signed up as she needed to find someone to make a point to her interviewing mother, who's trying to push her into an arrange marriage to an older man.
So we see how Trace & Magalie agree to this agreement & the ups & turns that happen along the way until they both admit to each other & everyone else their true feelings....

I received a free copy of this book however all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
I loved this! This is the second in the series and is as brilliant as the first. This one follows Erica's (from book one) brother, Trace, and his 'Mr. Match' Magalie, and the trial and tribulations they endure while trying to be 'fake' engaged and realising they have feelings for each other. You can expect the laughs and humor you experienced in the first whilst still achieving an HEA! Definitely worth a read.
