“I didn’t intend to write a book. If you knew my past you would know that writing is just not my thing. I didn’t do English at school, at least not very well. I don’t even write emails that are more than a few lines. Writing just wasn’t me. Some people though have made comments that I should write my ‘life story’ but what is there to really write about, and should I be writing a book about me at all? I could have written about my school life, or when I was homeless but that wouldn’t be a book about me anyhow, it would just be a chapter of my life. Either way, I couldn’t write a book about my life, for one it shouldn’t be about me, writing a book about yourself just seems wrong. The other reason is that my life isn’t over yet so it wouldn’t be the full story. In truth at the age of forty-something, my life is just beginning. It’s a story that is unfolding each day as I am guided through the adventure that I live in by the real author of this book, God.” We can often feel that we are unable to fulfil our dreams. It could be that we think that we lack the ability to do it or that everyone around us simply tells us that we will fail. For years my family motto was, “Tried hard, but failed” , and it became something that I really believed. Growing up with no exams, a history of a broken family, bullying, addiction and homelessness what did I have to hope for? This book is neither an autobiography or a theological study on the meaning behind the story of David and Goliath (there are so many of those out there already). This book hopes to explain the similarities between David’s life and our own on his journey from looking after sheep on a barren hillside to slaying a giant on the battlefield. I wrote this book to inspire the reader to understand that it doesn’t matter what you have done, who you are or where you have come from, we are all capable of amazing things. All it takes is a little bit of faith. About the Author This is the first book by Christopher Hall and one that he insisted he would not be able to write. It’s the result of listening to the voice that continued to call him even though he tried hard to ignore it because he doubted his own ability. Living homeless on the streets as an alcoholic Christopher began to listen to the voice of God calling to him. In 2015 Christopher left a Christian rehab and started his journey walking with Christ. Now only a few short years later he has listened to that same voice on numerous occasions which has now led him to become a church deacon, full-time photographer, artist and now even a published author.
I pre ordered this book and when it arrived, I dipped in to it before going to the book launch. I forced myself to stop halfway through, then went straight back to it that evening. It's an easy read but has amazing depth. A great message for anyone wondering where God might be leading them
