My son is pretty obsessed with this book. It might get lost under the couch soon.

Sally and Dick go to the dinosaur museum and the Cat in the Hat leads the way. The rhyming attempts to be Seussian but doesn't have the pizzazz. The art is decent but my tolerance for imitation Seuss only goes so far.

My son loves it, though. While I'm the dino-parent, he frequently hands it to my wife to read and she gets irritated every time she has to say Archaeopteryx. Miles growls when he says the dinosaur names so it's still a little fun to read to him.

A fun book about dinosaurs written in faux-Seuss, and featuring the Cat in the Hat.

Good info for kids interested in dinosaurs (and what kid isn't?), but the writing just isn't up to the standard Seuss set.

Dinosaurs and Cat in the Hat! The inner little boy in me really liked this book! Fun and informative - with just enough information - if you know of a small child who is interested in dinosaurs then this book is sure to be a big hit that will be read over and over again!

I am aware of the PBS television show based off of Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat titled, "The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That," where The Cat in the Hat teaches Dick and Sally (who he famously visited in his original tale) and the viewers about all different kinds of things. On this visit, he takes Dick and Sally to a museum to teach them about all different kinds of dinosaurs. I must actually say that this was quite informative and I especially admired how there is a complete pronunciation of each of the dinosaurs and how it is sounded out so that its target audience, and even adults that are reading the text, know how to say the different kinds of dinosaurs. There is enough information for the reader to get an idea of the featured dinosaurs and the signature, zany humor that comes with a work written in Dr. Seuss' world.

This time the Cat in the Hat is explaining all about dinosaurs that he tells Sally and Dick that we know of them through fossils that are 'Not hundreds of years, not thousands of years, but millions of years - long before you were born.' And even though I knew of some dinosaurs, he introduces me to to others that I had never even heard of!

So of we go to the Super Dino Museum where we meet the Ankylosaurus, which has a club for a tail, the Maiasaura, one of the tidiest of dinosaurs, keeping her nest neat and tidy for her children, the Brachiosarusm which was taller than 15 metres and the Archaeopteryx, the earliest bird known. Then of course there is the more well-known Tyrannosaurus Rex, a true carnivore, and Triceratops, with his three horns.

After viewing all these species, the museum is to close and as they leave the Cat has a bit of fun pretending to be the earliest known cat ... the Catinthehatosaurus! It's all great fun with those crazy, fantastic illustrations to accompany the text.

My two year old loves this one, and since she's the target audience, her vote counts more than mine.

This was a fun, educational book to read to my 5-year-old grandson.
He is dino obsessed and we had to read this 3 times in a row.
I might have to buy it for him for Christmas.

This has replaced “cookies!!” (If you give a mouse a cookie). I now know the real names of at least 7 dinosaurs and their unique characteristics. 10/10

Personal Response
I read this book to my two nephews and they loved this book. They thought it was funny when I was trying to pronounce the dinosaur’s names. They also loved the pictures of all of the dinosaurs especially when the T-Rex showed up.

Plot
This book is about the Cat in the Hat, a girl named Sally, and a Sally’s best friend, Dick. They dig up bones and talk about how huge they are. Then they go to a museum and show them a whole bunch of different types of dinosaurs. The Cat in the Hat has all of the dinosaurs names. Have fun trying to pronounce their names.

Characterization
The characters in this book are The Cat in the Hat, Sally, and Dick. The Cat in the Hat is the main character on this book. He also is the one that is saying the bubbles on the pages. Sally is the little girl in this book, and she is always with the Dick. Dick is the boy in this book, and he is always doing weird things on the pages with the dinosaurs.

Impact/ Setting
The book starts out in a big field where they dug up dinosaur bones. After that they went to a museum. They went into different room each containing a new animals.

Audience
I would recommend this book to kids five and under. Most little kids will love this book and think it is super funny. Kids above five might think the book is for little kids and think it is dumb or boring.

Oh Say Can You Say Di-no-saur? All About Dinosaurs by Bonnie Worth is part of the Cat in the Hat Learning Library which are books written and illustrated in the style of Dr. Seus. This is an informative book about dinosaur names, fossils, putting fossils together to create skeletons, and visiting dinosaur museums all written in rhymes and accompanied by silly illustrations. It helps students say dinosaur names such as Brachiosaurus by breaking the word down into individual sounds. A teacher could read this aloud to first or second graders and have them try saying the new words. This would be an especially good book to read if the students are learning about dinosaurs in science.

Another fun and informative book from the Dr Seuss library. This one is about dinosaurs and manages to help phonetic readers learn to say the names of the dinosaurs as well as maintain the rhythm and rhyme of traditional dr Seuss books.

When the Cat in the Hat returns to visit Sally and Dick, he’s riding on a brachiosaurus. He takes the children back millions of years in time to show them the creation of fossils.

Then, visiting the Super Dino Museum, the children learn some interesting facts as well as the proper pronunciation of each dinosaur’s name.

And do you know the name of the earliest cat dinosaur?

=========

Part of the Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library, this book introduces beginning readers to basic concepts about the world around them. Helping develop foundational knowledge upon which the young reader can eventually build complex ideas and facts, the book shows young readers that educational books can also be very entertaining.

Guided by the venerable Cat in the Hat, the rhyming narrative provides basic information about dinosaurs. Also included are a Glossary and a For Further Reading bibliography. Young readers interested in science and/or dinosaurs are sure to be delighted with this book that exemplifies the slogan of the series: Learn to Read. Read to Learn.

Highly recommended.

This book really surprised me. I had never read a faux-Dr. Seuss book before that was informational not just silly. However, I appreciated that while the book had nonfiction components, it was rhyming and upbeat. The book not only talked about many kinds of dinosaurs, what they looked like, but also how to pronounce their names. This was an important part of the book because a student who was reading this book by themselves would still be able to attempt to sound out the names of the dinosaurs. I love when a book takes a topic kids are interested in and presents the information in an engaging way. In my classroom I would use this book to talk about dinosaurs, nonfiction books, rhyming, or how authors can write books that are similar but have different components. I might even read this book in addition to another Dr. Seuss book and have them compare the two. I hope to add this book to my Dr. Seuss collection soon.

Cat in the Hat runs through everything a kid needs to know about dinosaurs. Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago, but now we can put them back together by their bones. The book goes through many dinosaurs names, breaks down how to say them, and gives details about the type of dinosaur.

I like this educational book about dinosaurs, and learns some information on different types of dinosaurs. It is an easy read for children, and I am sure they would enjoy hearing about dinosaurs. I really loved the colorful drawings on each page.

I would use this in my classroom to talk about syllables. Dinosaur names are usually very hard to pronounce, and this book breaks the words up. It breaks up Ankylosaurus into Ang-kih-luh-saw-rus. I would talk about the method of clapping for each syllable or putting you hand under your chin to know how many syllables are in a word.

In my world dinosaurs reign supreme, any book about dinosaurs is an automatic love for me. This book has the bright and classic Dr. Seuss style illustrations which is why it was published by the Seuss publishing house. It includes many of the facts about dinosaurs that children want to know including which dinosaurs are herbivores and which are carnivores. I think this would be a great book to use to talk to children about dinosaurs but they may need help reading and pronouncing the names of the different dinosaurs.

Not a bad book, although I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of the non-fiction Cat in the Hat titles, but what in the BLUE BLAZES is Archaeopteryx doing in a book about dinosaurs??? If you're trying to imply that it evolved from dinosaurs, you really should stop since there is no evidence supporting that claim. And if you aren't trying to imply that, then it just flat out doesn't belong here. Either way, it needs to go. Bummer, because it wasn't half bad until that point.

Don't remember reading this one as a kid, but I am sure I did also...

Anyways another good read for kids. I like this one helps kids sound-out some dinosaur names, and even like the pretend dinosaur at the end!

The glossary at the end to review some words that may be new for the young reader is really nice as well.

If you are learning about Dinosaurs with your little ones, this is a fun, rhyming and informative book to supplement the more formal conversations you are having. My 5 year old loves Dinosaurs and can read books at a much higher level. But, to keep my 3 year old engaged, I have to sprinkle books like these into our reading selections.

I've always had a hard time with dinosaur books because I have no idea how to properly pronounce all of those really long names. This book was awesome in breaking the words down with a picture of the dinosaur and the correct spelling of it's name. Honestly a great reference book if you need to read about dinosaurs.

👦🏻 reviews: when I was barely 3 years old, my mom would read Green Eggs and Ham, and reading this one today I had fun reading and rhyming it. It’s not the same as the old Dr Seuss but I think it’s still an awesome book combining Dinosaurs and Dr Seuss. Yes, I was obsessed with dinosaurs when I was younger and this is perfect for kindergartners!

Read to ages 3-6
This book gave the children an excellent look at how different dinosaurs are and how tricky it is to pronounce their names. The students enjoyed learning where fossils are found.
I chose this book because it illustrated different characters. The children were able to engage with the rhymes, which made it fun for them to learn about dinosaurs.

This is a really great book. I have always loved learning about dinosaurs.

What I especially liked about this Cat in the Hat book is that the author phonetically spelled out the names of the dinosaurs that appear in the book. That is especially important for readers of all ages.

The illustrations by Steve Haefele were excellent.

I loved this one! I adored dinosaurs growing up and still maintain a fascination with them as an adult so this was fun to read with the kids! My toddler asked for it twice so safe to say he's a dino kid!

This book originated from a Dr. Seuss book so it has very similar aspects! It’s a really cute book that teaches about fossils, dinosaurs, and how to pronounce their names. It might be a good intro to a science lesson, as it briefly discusses how fossils are made!
