“It was time for God to do all the work, and it was time for me to be quiet. That is what got me through those dark times. Because God inhabits the praises of his people (Psalm 22:3), and he was right there with me the whole time. He taught me that the only thing I needed to do was be still and quiet while the pain surfaced, and then I could just cry it away.”
Honest, gripping, and inspiring, Save Me From Myself is the incredible true story of Brian Welch: lead guitarist of the band Korn. This memoir is how Brian fought his addiction of drugs through his miraculous redemption through Jesus Christ. In 2005, more than ten thousand people in Bakersfield, California, watched as Brian "Head" Welch was saved by Jesus Christ. This moment started a media fury as witnesses from around the world wanted to understand what led this rock star out of the darkness and into the light.
Head talks for the first time about his journey and the crazy ten years that led him into the arms of Jesus Christ. Readers get a backstage pass to his time with the band and a deeper look at the gruesome lifestyle of a rock star.
“But then one day I finally realized that screaming at God and begging him to take away my pain wasn’t going work. So I completely surrendered myself and stopped fighting him and I asked him what he wanted me to do. He said: JUST WORSHIP ME. PRAISE ME AND WORSHIP ME THROUGH THE PAIN.”
Even if you don’t relate exactly to Brian’s story we all struggle with something in our lives. Something we can only get through with God’s help because we can’t do it on our own. Regardless of Brian’s frequent efforts to free himself from meth, nothing, not even the birth of his daughter could force him to kick it for good…until he surrendered! What a testimony!
I was lucky to hear him speak at my home church! It will be a highlight of 2020 for sure!
