I absolutely loved this book and everything about it! Noah and Shannon’s story was so beautiful. It was full of tension, pain, insecurities, and so much love it just leapt off the page. I could feel the emotion in the story from the first chapter and was instantly invested. My heart almost couldn’t handle it. I needed to know that they would get their love story and their happy ending.

There are certain aspects to Noah and Shannon and what they have to overcome/cope with that I thought was so well written. I don’t want to give too much away about that so you can experience it for yourself.

I really enjoyed the little flashbacks to their childhood that showed how their love for each other has been developing since they were young. The care and friendship they had for a foundation made for a stronger relationship. It’s the only way they were able to overcome Noah’s insecurities and worries. The best friend’s sibling/brother’s best friend trope is one of my favorites and this one was perfectly done.

This book is definitely a favorite for 2020. We also got to see hints of how the next books will play out and it made me even more excited for more in this series!

This second book of the Cessna U Wildcats series is wonderful! Author Kimberly Readnour is amazing with the baseball trope, and the “extras” she throws into the College-aged romance series is FANTASTIC! She blended the brother’s best friend into Behind the Count which makes it a triple play in my book!

Noah Green is Cessna University’s starting catcher…and has been fellow teammate Braxton Smith’s best friend since they were in little league. He’s gone through a lot in his short life, and his inner demons and fears might ruin the best thing that has ever come into his life…Shannon Smith, Braxton’s younger sister. Of course, with what should be an unwritten rule, but is instead a well-mentioned code among teammates…sisters of players are off limits.

The author has written a well-flowing, slow burning romance, full of incredible characters, perfect blend of regrets, drama, heartache and heat. I love the banter between all of the teammates…and there is a lot…and it is perfection! I really, really enjoyed this baseball friends-to-lovers romance, plus, the epilogue was heartwarmingly lovely! 4.5 stars…rounding up to 5!

This is a friends to lovers romance with the added best friend's little sister trope. Noah and Braxton have been best friends since they were eight years old. Shannon is Braxton's younger sister and always, even as a child, felt that Noah was special. The flashbacks to their youth was sweet. It really showed how much Shannon cared for Noah.
Now, in college, Braxton and Noah are seniors playing baseball for Cessna University and Shannon is a sophomore. She is trying to find her footing at college with an overprotective Braxton due to her congenital heart defect. Noah has feelings for her that he knows he can't act on since he is Braxton's best friend and he won't like it. Plus, there is the added "don't date a teammates sister."
Noah has his own inner demons to fight and until he comes to terms with those he won't be committing to any woman in a relationship. There are more than one obstacle in their way to a happy ending, but I enjoyed the story getting there.
This is book two in the series and I didn't read book one. I didn't feel like I was missing any vital information to enjoy this story, though.
Thank you to InkSlinger PR and the author for my advanced copy.

The second book in the Cessna U Wildcats series with Shannon and Noah had a little darker storyline and some bumps to get over -- both in their personal lives and as a couple. Their friends-to-lovers relationship has been years in the making and, with her brother Braxton (from the first book) guarding his sister like a guard dog and threatening any of his roommates with bodily harm if they even so much as think about dating Shannon, the tension ramps up between the baseball players.

Readers will get a few more peeks into the other teammates involved and what might be coming in future books in this fun-to-read series straight from the baseball diamond featuring the boys of summer.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

This series has me hooked. The characters are truly captivating. Kimberly preps you for the next book and makes you want it IMMEDIATELY! Thankfully I finished Swinging Strike the moment the ARC of Behind the Count hit my kindle.

The sexual tension between these two. Holy macaroni. Shannon and Noah had years of memories and history. Flashbacks were perfectly inserted into this story. Each moment between the two of them left me more and more invested.

“Our he loves me, he loves me not game finally ending, but trust me, this is one girl who doesn’t mind holding the he loves me petal.”

This is a sport romance series with characters you are going to obsess over! I’m so glad I started reading it!

Noah has always been protective of Shannon. He is his best friend’s sister after all. But Noah has always felt a strong connection to her since they were kids. Shannon has had a crush on Noah for as long as she can remember. He might as well be a brother to her but they feelings she is getting are not sibling feelings. These two have an explosive chemistry and they can fight it all they want but why should they? Oh yeah, because there is no way Shannon’s brother is going to let her find love if he can help it.

Love the way this writer writes baseball. The injuries, the players, the game and more importantly the love of the game. This couple will have to decide if their life can survive all the curve balls these two face, now and in the future.

Loved going back to Cessna University!

In book 2 we get Noah and Shannon’s story, and who doesn’t love a good forbidden romance. Noah and Shannon have known each other practically their whole lives. Noah was Shannon’s next door neighbor and best friend to her older brother Braxton. Even though Noah has had a connection like no other with Shannon, this father’s death plus the brocode - have left him leaving Shannon in the strictly friends field. The only problem is he thinks Shannon feels the same way about him, and it’s getting harder and harder to leave her out in the field and not bring her into the more than category.

I loved these two together. Both had issues and fears to get around. And the biggest issue is Shannon’s brother who has warned off anyone who tries to date her:

I can’t get enough of this series and can not wait for the next book!

Shannon has a crush on her brother's best friend Noah. Noah is older, sexy and alpha male. The fact that he's friends with her brother puts things in the forbidden zone. Noah has thoughts of Shannon that are far from pure. He knows that there are some things you can't have and your best friend's sister is a big no zone. The two keep being thrown together and the sparks fly. A steamy, sports read.

Noah and Shannon have had crushes on each other for a long as they have known each other but no one is aware. Noah is still a little sore about not being drafted in his draft year he is determined to focus on baseball this season and prove he is worth being drafted. Shannon loves fashion and has dreams of obtaining her fashion degree and the Glamour Project. The only thing standing in her way is her algebra credit. In the need of a tutor, she goes in search of one but the one she gets paired with is her ex. Noah seeing Shannon in tears and inquires into what happened. When she explains her algebra issue Noah offers to help her. Will they be able to keep their feelings hidden or will they surface and cause issues?

Behind the count is a best friend's sibling college baseball romance in the Cessna U Wildcats series. I love a good best friend's sibling story and this one did not disappoint. I was especially interested in this story as it focused on the catcher which is the position I played in baseball. Kimberly Readnour did a great job with the tension and secrecy part you see with this trope. Noah and Shannon's attraction was hot and steamy once they no longer hid it from each other. I felt for both Noah and Shannon with regards to their medical issues and their fears regarding them. This is becoming my favourite trope and this is a must-read series for those who love baseball romances. Next up is Full Count and I can not wait to see what happens with Garret and Lexie and find out why Garret is so secretive.

Behind The Count - Book 2 Cessna U series
4.5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🔸

As a fan of Kimberly Readnour’s first book in the Cessna U series, Swinging Strike, I knew Behind The Count would be a story not to miss, especially with the backstory I knew was there between Noah and Shannon, our main characters in Behind The Count.
A brother’s best friend story, Noah and Shannon have known each other for many years, growing up together. Braxton, typical older brother, is protective of Shannon and really doesn’t see the longing glances and unrequited love that simmers below the surface of these two. Attending the same college only enhances these feelings, yet a sense of responsibility and respect for his best friend sees Noah reluctant to act on these feelings and the attraction he knows Shannon feels as well.
Behind The Count is a well-written, smooth flowing story that captured my love of sports romance, college setting and a chemistry that burns between the main characters. It has a few surprises and hurdles along the way, but this small amount of drama kept me intrigued and wondering how the author would tie it all together. Noah and Shannon both have their insecurities hidden beneath the layers of smiles and in Noah’s case, being a star baseball player, yet they get each other and I love the ease and familiarity in their interactions, with wit and flirty banter too at times!
Behind The Count will appeal to readers of college romance and sports romance, to readers who enjoy a fun read with a few curve balls along the way and those who love a series that keeps you wanting more! I’m looking forward to Garrett’s story next! Thanks to inkslingerpr and the author for copy I received.

I'm always a sucker for an angsty, sports best friends sister romance and boy did Kimberley Readnour deliver!

I loved Swinging Strike which follows Shannon's brother Braxton, but I was always interested in Shannon and Noah. Their friendships always seemed to want a little more.

Noah and Shannon have been friends forever. They grew up together and so have always had a close connection. It's just that Shannon's always wanted more from him but he's never shown signs of the same feelings.

When they share an unforgettable kiss one night it's hard to know where their friendship now stands. Along with the mix of Noah's focus on baseball because he didn't get drafted last year and then there's Braxton the overprotective brother, things aren't easy for them.

They need to wind through this minefield of people and things trying to tear them apart in order to find if their feelings are real. Once they do it's amazing but nothing good lasts long, especially when you have an inner war and secrets.

The story is angsty, funny, sweet and sexy. It's the perfect mix and I'm glad to be reading more of Readnour's work. I look forward to following the other baseball gust stories and finding their HEA's!

Thank you, an ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked this book. I like it because it is part of a series that overlaps. I'm a little worried it's going to be slow for the next books to come out. The next book will be Garret's and I'm afraid I'm not going to like what has been making him go back home every weekend.

Anyway, this was a brother's best friend book. Shannon, Braxton's sister (1st book's H), has had a crush on Noah for as long as she can remember. Noah's had feelings for her, too. Noah fought it for so long because he knew Braxton would have a big problem with it.

One thing I didn't like was a copycat move from the first book. In the first book, Isabella was friends with Braxton and wanted to be more. She was horrible to Cara and wouldn't take a hint from Braxton. This book was worse. Marla had been the only girl Noah had sex with more than once and she thought she had a claim as a result. He had been pushing her away for months - even in the previous school year. She kept hitting on him and touching him. She was even worse to Shannon than Isabella had been to Cara. It was overdone.

Another thing I didn't like about both books was it didn't seem like there was much time when they were just dating and hanging out without problems. In both books, there was a period where they were hanging out and trying to fight their attraction. (It was a love/hate problem in the first book and a brother's in the way/medical problems in this book.) In both books, the H broke up with the girl even though he didn't want to for stupid reasons. So, there was that period building up to it, a short time while they were together but troubles mixed in, a break up, getting back together, and a very short period after they were back together. There just wasn't much relaxed "let's just love each other" portion of the story. The epilogues for both books were barely into the future. I assume that is to keep spoilers from the next book secret.

I even went back to read the previous series that included Cara's brother but I didn't bother because they are all 3 second chance books. I hate those. I like to see the love build for the first time - or in this case, the final acknowledgement and claiming of that love.

I can't wait to finish the series!

Best friend's little sister? Yes, please! Noah and Shannon have known each other practically their whole lives. They grew up together and Noah is Shannon's older brother, Braxton's best friend. It been the three of them through some pretty intense times for kids. Braxton assumes Noah and Shannon are more like siblings but neither of them feel that way. Shannon finally works up some courage to go after her dreams, like all of them. Being able to run a 5k taking her heart condition into consideration, designing clothes good enough to qualify for a national show, and Noah. Although i dont think her intention to go after Noah was planned out. She is the perfect girl next door, sweet and kind. She does have a concept about herself that could make or break her. Noah is very similar. He has something from his past that could derail his whole future. I loved this couple so much. Noah is trying to navigate a world where his future may not depend on anything he can control and that makes him protective of those he loves. Shannon is also uncertain but is tired of being held on a pedestal by her brother especially but really those who know her past. Not only do they have those things to overcome, her brother might be the biggest obstacle of all since no one is good enough for his baby sister.

This is book #2 in the Cessna U Wildcats series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers, and to understand the series, I recommend reading this great series in order.

Shannon is trying to live her best life. She has overcome weakness, health issues, and has learned to stand on her feet. Now she is trying to survive college with her overprotective brother hovering nearby.

Noah has been in love with Shannon for a while now. She seems attracted to him as well. If only he wasn't best friends with her brother. That is a bond he cannot risk.

This was such an emotional roller coster ride. I was glad I was on it, however. I had been excited to read this story and it did not disappoint. This couple has eyes for each other and truly excels when they are together. If only they could learn to jump in. I loved that is was fast paced, had lots of heat, and was sincerely a longtime coming.

Braxton has only one rule with his baseball teammates - no dating his little sister. As his teammate and best friend from a young age this is the one rule Noah tries to keep. This is only made difficult because he has loved Shannon forever. With one kiss the two embark on a journey that at times is the highest of highs and at others the lowest of lows. Never wanting to be a burden, Noah gives up his happiness for the sake of her future. But can true love prevail? Or will he not only lose the girl but his best friend too? I always thought Braxton and Cara were going to be my favorite couple but after reading this book they have been left in the dust. Kimberly Readnour has once again knocked it out of the ballpark with her beautifully written character and the emotion that just drips from each and every chapter. I have never wanted to hug the characters as much as I did while reading this book!!

This book is really good. The characters are well developed. I loved Shannon and Noah. Noah is friends with Shannon's brother. They grew up together, so he has known her since she was kid. So this book could go in many directions. Shannon is a sweet and innocent girl. She has had been through a lot growing up as well as Noah. Noah has always sister zoned Shannon. So what will happen when they start going to college together? Shannon's brother is very protective of her and so is Noah. However she is failing a class and needs to be tutored. She goes to the tutoring building only to find out that it is her ex and this is not good. Then Noah decides to help her. What will come of this? There is a lot of emotions that transpire throughout the book. Will they be able to pass the obstacles that lay before them. Will they be able to accept what they can have now. Only time will tell. This book is a great addition to the series.

As a huge fan of college sports romances, I was excited to read Behind the Count. The second book in the Cessna U Wildcats series, this Kimberly Readnour book is everything I was hoping it would be.

We met Noah and Shannon in Swinging Strike, and now we get their thrilling story. And what a story is it!

I love this book; the writing, the characters, the couple, the friends, everything! The author does a wonderful job combining a great variety of tropes, including brother's best friend, forbidden romance, and friends to lovers.

The writing is fantastic, completely drawing the reader into the feelings involved for the two main characters. There's angst, want, need, and more to keep the reader riveted throughout.

As well, the reader is treated to plenty of baseball behind the scenes moments, which is a pure delight.

I truly love everything about Behind the Count and I can't wait for more from Cessna U!

Shannon has loved Noah for as long as she can remember. After years of rejection and unreturned feelings she realizes it is finally time to move on. Noah has loved Shannon for years but will not act on them because he has a secret he won't burden her with. The push and pull of these two was fabulously written and man it was heart wrenching at times. Shannon has not had a simple life but she more than anything just wants to be a regular girl. Her self esteem has been through the wringer and her mind is hard to shut off but slowly Noah gives her the confidence she needs and the ability to thrive in her life until his fears lead him to shatter her heart once again. Noah is a amazing and he just wants to do what he thinks is right for Shannon but when he thinks his worst fear has become a reality he refuses to be her burden even if it means rilping his heart out. These two were perfect for one another and eventually Noah sees the truth that Shannons love for him will be his greatest asset on life. This book was amazing and brought out all the feelings. I laughed I cried I wanted to beat Noah and Marla. It was a phenomenal read and can not wait for the rest of the series.

I absolutely LOVED Behind the Count so very much that I couldn't get enough of it. Noah Green is Cessna University's star catcher, and has been Braxton Smith's best friend since they started out in little league. Also, Braxton is a fellow teammate, and that's an important fact too. Noah has some past demons which has him shooting himself in the foot, and it does when it comes to Shannon. She's Braxton's little sister so there's a bro code for sure, not just friendship, but teammates as well. Obviously, these two can't stay away from each other since she's the best thing which ever happened to him, but they have to stay on the down low, though it was a hurt so good slow burn getting to that point. However, we all know that secrets don't make friends, making it just a matter of time before they're caught, so will the fallout destroy them?! You'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

“Dating my brother’s best friend? Yeah, that’s forbidden...”
We go back to the hustle of Cessna University to meet Braxton’s little sister Shannon. She is a fashion major with a crush on the unattainable Noah Geren, starting catcher and her brother’s bestie.
These two circle each other as the semester, secrets and futures beckon. The characters are sweet in this coming of age University sports romance.
I thoroughly recommend you read Swinging Strike, book 1 in the series first as you get to know these characters a little and some of the supporting characters lots. However, this can be read as a stand-alone novel with hea. I really enjoyed this visit to Cessna U, can’t wait to see more!!!

4-1/2 stars!

Ah a best friends sister romance, truly a great storyline. This book was no different. I enjoyed every bit of this read. It had romance, sports, best friends fighting & also some heavy health issues. It’s not your typical light romance read which makes it such a good read.

Noah different have a light childhood & to grow up with the weight of maybe not having a long life is a difficult burden to bear. But Shannon also grew up with those same issues. Along with all that they also had to deal with Braxton (still my favourite) who is your extremely overprotective big brother.

I can’t wait to read Dalton & Garrett’s books because I think they might top both the first two books in this series. I do wish we had seen more of the freshman & Noah & the baseball team. Overall it was a really great & enjoyable read.

I received an arc of this book in return for an honest review.

Behind The Count is Book Two in Kimberly Readnour’s Cessna University Series and what we get is a Fantastic Story About Noah & Shannon.
Noah has known Shannon most of his life and has always held a special place in his heart for her but the infamous “Bro Code” says he can never do anything about it but when lines gets crossed he can’t help feeling that there might be no turning back no matter what he feels.
Shannon has always crushed on Noah and as the years have gone by the crush has only grown, going to the same college and seeing him all the time makes her want to have him more than she ever thought she would.
There are many obstacles that will stand in their way, but sometimes taking that leap of faith might be all that you need to find that your happiness could be right around the corner.

This book is really something special. Brothers best friend romances tick all the boxes for me. Add in sports and a college setting and I was already halfway in love with the story before even reading the first word.
But what I enjoyed most was both Shannon & Noah have had to both grow up fighting. I don’t want to reveal what I mean by that but it was both heartbreaking and beautiful to read at the same time. It certainly set the tone for the book and it was fabulous to share in them overcoming obstacles and also feel despair when things don’t necessarily go as they wanted.
Beautifully written as always from Kimberly and am hoping for either Garret or Dalton’s book next.

Shannon and Noah have been close since grade school. Since Noah is Braxton’s best friend and Braxton being Shannon’s brother the three have been through a lot together. Shannon has always had feelings for Noah but never acted on them. Till one night during a storm he acts on them and makes things awkward between them. They both hold some secrets from each other but still try to fight the attraction to each other at bay. Which isn’t easy for either of them. Shannon gets close to Noah and they start a relationship but can’t fully come out since the rule Braxton has is no dating sister’s of the team and when your friend is the one to mess that up you don’t know what to do. Great book. Can’t wait for more.

Noah and Braxton are not only lifelong best friends, but they are also teammates on the same college team. Noah has been friends with Shannon for just as long and although his feelings for her run deeper than friendship he believes that is all they can ever have not only because of Braxton but because of his past as well.

Shannon is now attending the same college which only makes her attraction to Noah that much more difficult as she knows that Braxton doesn’t wanting her dating any man let alone his best friend. One stolen moment changes everything but will they decide that the reward of being together is worth the risk or are there too many obstacles for them to overcome?

Heart, humor, heat and great characters all add up to a captivating story.

When Ms. Readnour sent me Behind the Count she told me she was nervous for this one. It was more serious. And my response was sometimes I like to read something more serious then playful. And guess what? Noah and Shannon are by far my favorite two characters of Ms. Readnours’ that I’ve read. I am IN love with this story. I laughed and I did some crying. But oh my heart after reading this book. I learned some things while reading too. I always love when I can take something away from a book. But my heart is full and happy and will always remember this sweet sweet couple. And in all honesty, there’s no two other characters I’d rather spend my time with during social distancing

Kimberly Readnour did it once again. I was hooked from the start of this series (really before that with the Bad Boys Redemption trilogy). But really. The connection and history and love and story between Noah and Shannon gave my heart all the happy flutters. From Uni and the carnival, her health and backstory, his long kept feelings AND THE DRAFT! Oof, I’m in love.

This book was so perfect and lovely and oof I cant wait for the next in the series. I want (need) it asap, but luckily it looks like I might only have to wait a couple months with a summer 2020 anticipated release. I think i have some predictions over Garret’s story, but we’ll see.

Ugh this was just so good 💙
My heart is really happy
