She begs him to rescue his enemy from death. In exchange, he demands her body…

Former Marine sniper Pierce “One-Mile” Walker is a loner who keeps his heart under wraps. Nothing about sweet little preacher’s daughter Brea Bell should entice him. But after one glance, he stops caring that his job is to end lives or that she’s his teammate’s woman. He falls hard, and he’ll stop at nothing to steal her heart.

Brea has always been a good girl…until she meets the dangerous security team operative. He’s everything she shouldn’t want, but he’s a forbidden temptation she’s helpless to resist.

Then fate strikes, forcing Brea to beg the warrior for help. But his skills come at a steep price—her innocence. The undeniable attraction consumes them in dark passion that burns out of control. When a vicious past vendetta rears its head, can Pierce keep the woman he loves safe, even if it means tearing out his own heart and walking away forever?

After one look, I wanted you. But after one kiss, I knew I’d do anything to have you.”

I have been waiting for this moment all my life!!! OK, so maybe not my entire life. But it sure feels like it, dang it! Because Shayla Black has been tempting us with One-Mile and Brea's story for too long and I've been chomping at the bit in my glee to get my grabby little hands on it. And the second this baby hit my kindle? I DEVOURED IT. I don't think I even blinked. Or maybe I did blink. Once. And then I realized I was done. GAH.
She wanted to be his, even if it was for a night. Even if it was a sin. Even if she burned in hell for this desire. It couldn’t be any worse than twisting in agony without him.

Now I'll be honest, usually the uber good girl heroine doesn't do it for me. They tend to annoy me with their holier than thou everything. But Brea was my one exception to the rule. There's just something so incredibly endearing to her sweet and innocent personality. She's like this ray of sunshine that you can't help but love. Or maybe it's that perfect dynamic of One-Mile's uber bad boy to her uber good girl? I dunno. But whatever it was, it worked, and I loved it.

If you've read Shayla's Wicked or Devoted series than you've met these characters. And if you haven't, you won't have any problems diving right into this one. Brea is Cutter's best friend from Devoted to Pleasure. I have to say, as much as I loved Cutter in his own book, I wanted to slap him here. His holier than thou attitude towards One-Mile drove me up the wall. He's fiercly protective of Brea while Brea is inexplicably drawn to One-Mile. One-Mile thinks that she's Cutter's girlfriend, but that doesn't stop his singleminded pursuit of her.
I want you to kiss me,” she whispered. “Now.”
He tensed. “You’re sure?”
“Yes.”
“Even though it’s wrong?”
“Yes.”
“Even though this could get out of control?”
“Yes.”
“Brea. Baby…” Desire darkened his expression. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

One-Mile is one of the most endearing misunderstood characters. He's painted to be the cold and aloof bad boy, but is he really? He's a trained operative and and lethal sniper, but there's so much more to him than that. I loved seeing his fuzzy side come out when he's around Brea. But there's also this edgy appeal to him that you can't deny. Their chemistry was absolutely incendiary! And the story completely addicting with plenty of suspense to really keep the reader on their toes. I loved it from cover to cover!

I actually picked up Wicked as Sin because of the expectation of hot sexy steamy part. After all this book is written by Miss Black.

I end up disappointed. I really am. Sure the story is promising with a little bit of suspense but I do not get that hot and bothered feeling on the sex scenes.
I even fall asleep while listening to the audiobook.

Utter trash. You'll agree with me. DO NOT READ

Brea (22, virgin, daughter of a preacher) attends a party with her BFF, Cutter (douche), and the rest of his military team. He tells her to stay away from one person. Pierce (Marine sniper) and Brea have an immediate attraction between each other, too bad she's with his sworn enemy, Cutter. Here's where sh!t gets stupid as fock - and you may consider it spoilers, but you seriously need to know what you're in for.

Pierce assumes that Brea is Cutter's girlfriend. He decides he doesn't give a fock and pursues her anyway. Both she and Cutter know that Pierce thinks that and neither correct him. She doesn't want to be with him because he's in the military and he kills people. B!tch what do you think your BFF does?? Most soldiers do have to kill folks. So, she tries to avoid Pierce, but he doesn't give up. Then douche bag Cutter goes into a hostage situation where a gunman is planning to kill him. Brea goes to Pierce and begs him to save Cutter. She says she'll give him her body if he'll just save him. Pierce is pissed as hell, but he goes to save the day anyway by shooting/killing the gunman. When he gets back to his house, he tells Brea to leave because he doesn't want to play games anymore - but she acts like a wanker and is like well why don't you want me anymore I'll give you my body. So he gives in and they have sex, where he comes to the conclusion that maybe she's a virgin. When he asks her if she is, she tells him it's none of his business and hurries to get dressed. Why not just be honest with the man you just gave your virginity to? He stalks after her and they end up having sex again. Then she sneaks out of his house and goes to see her BFF Cutter.

Cutter - the douche that he is - says the only way that he'll believe she would have had sex with Pierce is if he had raped her. Instead of saying, "HE DIDN'T RAPE ME" she says you don't understand and then lets him go on thinking that she was raped. Cutter tells several people that Pierce raped her. SERIOUSLY WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. Then she tells Pierce that she "needs some space". B!tch needs to be shot.

Cutter has hated Pierce forever - why?? Because he kills people. He's pissed that Pierce killed the man holding him hostage and says he acted like the "judge, jury, executioner". DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE MILITARY WORKS???? Which is hard to believe considering Cutter is actually in the military.

The entire book is just utter nonsense. I had to listen a second time because my first review didn't leave enough details to remind me of the plot. I'm quitting now at around the 60% mark because now I remember why I gave this 1-star the first time.

I propose a book burning - we'll add this one.

My initial thoughts when I finished Wicked as Sin were: We finally have One-Mile’s story and believe me it’s everything I hoped it would be. Now Bring on Wicked Ever After!

Pierce Walker aka “One-Mile” is someone that has made several appearances in both the Wicked Lovers and Devoted Lovers Series so of course he had caught my eye and I had hoped we would get to know more about him and now Shayla Black has gifted us with his story, and I LOVED IT!

Why would the heroine, Brea, never correct her best friend, Cutter, who is assuming the hero, One-Mile, must have raped her because there's no way good girl Brea would have had sex with a guy like him? Why??? Your best friend is accusing the man you love of rape and you just evade the question because you're embarrassed? Better let people think he's a rapist? Multiple times?
This book is so bad, I'm not sticking around for the second book, this is awful. I'm done.

As a reader, we’ve all experienced that, “Hmm, I would love to know more about you” feeling when a side character is interacting with the current leads in the book we’re reading or the character is peppered into various scenes throughout a series, but never with much depth or description. Pierce “One-Mile” Walker is that character for me.

I’ve “met” him several times through my favorite series: Wicked Lovers and Devoted Lovers and grew more intrigued each time. Especially once his relationship with Brea Bell was revealed. I knew there was so much more to the man behind the scowl.

And I was right! Good golly, was I right, and so not prepared! Pierce is the true definition of alpha bad boy. He’s smart, deadly, and sexy as hell—and a man that should be too “dark and dangerous” to even appeal to the sweet, innocent Brea Bell.

But the heart wants what the heart wants. And Piece wants Brea with every cell of his being. And Brea wants to be his too—he’s just too tempting to resist. And there are so many reasons and people who are against anything developing between them. They have a battle ahead—one not just with an enemy who's risen from the past, but also a war with their hearts and the truth.

I loved the start of their romance—the story of how Pierce and Brea met and got together. And when I write the word start I mean it because Wicked as Sin is just book one/part one in this new Wicked & Devoted series. And I cannot wait to read Wicked Ever After to see what happens next! ~ Missy, 5 stars

Wanted to love it. Was so wildly disappointed... Spoilers may be ahead... ALSO, this book ends on a cliffhanger, aka it's really only half of the story.

As noted by others, the FMC is completely frustrating -- she is a preachers daughter and total "good girl" so when the super hot, sexy, dangerous hero MMC (former Marine Sniper with the nickname One Mile) comes into her life, she is excited and scared of him. Her bestie dude friend *HATES* the super hot, sexy, dangerous hero (they're co-workers at the Soldiers for hire joint) because he doesn't follow orders and he's a "bad guy"... siggggh.

At their first meeting, the bestie dude friend of the FMC, tells our sexy MMC, the sweet, sexy FMC is his -- implying they are a couple (keyword: IMPLYING!!!) -- and for ever after that in this book, the hot, sexy, dangerous MMC BELIEVES that she is his co-worker's girlfriend. WHICH SHE NEVER CORRECTS... and despite thinking she's in a relationship, MMC pursues her hard. And after a lot of opportunities for her to set things straight with him and other characters, she doesn't.

It gets to a point, rather quickly in this story, where I was like, GIRL, TELL HIM THE TRUTH! (Caps because I may have literally yelled at my Kindle.)

THEN, the part that pushed me over the edge... our FMC needs a favor and says she'll do "anything"... so of course that means have sex with him... BUT our MMC doesn't want to take advantage of her, so makes her consent (to the sex -- so how is that ok?)... and she does, of course. *THEN* her bestie dude friend assumes that she was RAPED and our lame FMC, DOES NOT SET HIM STRAIGHT...

That's when the whole thing fell apart for me. This heroine was not for me... this story definitely not for me.

I’ve been waiting for Pierce and Brea’s story for a while. Well, ever since the beginning of Devoted to Pleasure. That’s when I began to get twitchy wanting their story LoL I wasn’t sure what to expect from the story-line but I knew if Shayla was writing it that it would be passionate and twisty in all the best ways! She didn’t disappoint. She rarely does.

If you’re new to the words of Shayla Black, welcome, what took you so long?! If you’re not, sit tight and enjoy this suspenseful, action-packed, emotional, pleasure filled beginning of a journey between Brea and Pierce. As the saying goes, these two couldn’t be more opposites if they tried! Everything about them was opposite, but they complimented each other ridiculously well. The story kept me on edge for the most part and I cannot wait for its conclusion!

NOTE: This book ends with a pause, a pause I would not refer to as a cliffhanger. The facts that unfold at the end should not be a shock to any reader, maybe a bit of a surprise, but shock, not so much. You know the saying that goes kinda like … If someone shows you or tells you who they are, believe them … Well, nobody should be shocked at this ending LOL (just my opinion)!

This one is, like... half my own fault, but only half.

Putting this on my DNF shelf because I mistakenly accepted the ALC without realizing it was a spin-off of two other series (one of which is 12 books long). I was hoping, once I realized that, that I could pick up with this one (because I feel like that's how it works with most romance spin-off series?), but 1) I immediately felt like I was missing too much vital info, and 2) I very quickly realized I wasn't enjoying the writing enough to put in that much effort, sorry. The literal first few minutes kicks into some gross "I won't take no for an answer, pretty girl" alpha male dialogue and it was an immediate turn-off.

One Mile/Pierce is a dangerous assassin who has no problem taking a life. Brea is the ultimate "good girl" and preacher's daughter of a small town. When Brea's friend Cutter, brings her to one of his work events and the two of them meet. Even though Cutter tries to play Brea off as his girlfriend to "protect" her from Pierce in hopes that it would keep Pierce away, Brea and Pierce have an attraction that is too hard to resist.

I didn't love Cutter/Brea's friendship. I didn't think they were really helping each other out for people who cared about each other for so long. Brea could get annoying at times with her redundant "have to be good" attitude but I will say that with the preface that I personally find the "good girl" naive personality to get on my nerves. However, Shayla Black does a great job writing her that I don't think I minded her in the long run. Pierce is an ultimate bad boy and the contrast between two made their chemistry work even better. I enjoyed their scenes together and protector pierce was swoon worthy.

Wicked as Sin is the first part of One-Mile and Brea's story by Shayla Black. It's not a stand-alone novel and the second and final book will be available after one month of this book's publication date, so we won't have to wait long for the conclusion of the story. It does end with a cliffhanger, but it's not a huge one.

What bothered me the most while reading this book is the pseudo-love triangle between One-Mile, Brea and Brea's best friend who is a male aka Cutter from Devoted to Pleasure. I can see even more drama coming One-Mile and Brea's way because of her close relationship with Cutter. I am removing half star from my rating, because Pierce spends the majority of the book chasing after another man's woman, even if we know the truth.

If you have read Devoted to pleasure, you will know what happens after Wicked as Sin has ended. I don't remember much from that book, but going back and reading my review I saw that I had many questions about Brea's happy ending and One-Mile's quality of character, so I am happy to get some answers.

Speaking about Devoted to Pleasure, I want to say that the author provided us with a brief info of the timeline of this book, compared to the others she has written, so if you are familiar with Shayla Black's work, you won't get confused. If you are not, simply enjoy One-Mile and Brea's story.

The book was very easy to read and I liked how detailed the timeline of the story was. A lot of things are going on and I wasn't bored for a single page! I am looking forward to reading the finale of this couple's story because I liked both characters very much and I want to see them getting a happy ending. Pierce (that's One-Mile's real name) is a good guy and I feel like he is the best guy for Brea and the one who will free her from the life she has lived so far. Brea is very kind and I liked seeing her do something for herself because I got the impression that she is a bit of a pushover. I would recommend the book.

DNF

Nothing I hate more than a mousy, stuttering idiot for a heroine who has no backbone or a brain and definitely not enough guts to tell the whole truth and defend the hero when needed.

I loved Pierce, the hero, true.

But what he saw in that bumbling moron is beyond me.

The story had potential, true, but I wanted to slap the heroine every time she opened her stupid mouth.

And so in the end I dnfed. I just couldn't
go on.

Maybe will try sth else from this series.
We'll see.

I'm giving this 4 1/4 stars, taking 3/4 star off because the unnecessary prudish angst of the FMC at times put me off. She spent too much time caring about the opinions of others, and letting her "best friend" (who REALLY pissed me off) have too much sway in what was going on in her personal life. She also didn't set people straight about what was truly going on in certain situations, and let people think poorly of One Mile, which put him in a bad light and was weak on her part. In my opinion, you just don't do this if you're truly in love with someone. You take their back and tell everyone else to fk off, if they don't like it.
Otherwise, I did like the story. This book is the first part of this couple's story, followed by Wicked Ever After for the conclusion.

Wicked as Sin was my first Shayla Black read, and I confess to being a wee bit tentative before starting. Although I’ve been curious about the author’s work, I never quite felt the push to grab one of her books. Then, when Wicked as Sin had me curious, I found out it linked two of the author’s other series. Wicked as Sin is the first book in the Wicked & Devoted series, combining the author’s The Wicked Lovers and Devoted Lovers worlds. I feared I would not understand, but I was wrong.

I confess, it did take me a couple of chapters to truly get into this book. However, this was a result of something I’m not crazy about in romance and not a result of me failing to understand the world. There is a lot of talk about other characters and events, but they were all explained well enough for me to understand. The reason it took me a while to get into this one is because of the behaviour of one of the characters in this one. I’m not crazy about family and friends getting involved in a person’s love life, making the choice of who is and is not right for a person and this made it difficult for me to fall in love with this one at first.

As difficult as it was, such an aspect ending up being vital to the story. Once things started to progress, I fell deeply for this book. I was wearing a stupid smile as I read this, sucked right into the romance. It wasn’t quite as suspenseful as I’d expected it to be, but it was highly addictive.

I cannot wait for apart two of the romance between these characters. I have a feeling I know how certain details will play out – there were elements in this one that made it obvious something overused is going to appear in the next book – but that does not lessen my desire to see how this one concludes.

Normally I try and wait if I know the book is a cliffhanger but since Shayla Black wrote this, it's not a big deal for me. These characters wormed their way into my heart and just like that I'm hooked. Pierce (One Mile) and Brea are totally opposite of each other. He's an ex-military and a sniper...she's a preachers daughter. Pierce sees Brea and instantly knows he wants her but there's the problem of a teammater, Cutter and Brea's father. Don't get me started on Cutter! Even though he's a teammate, I'm not liking him very much at the moment. LOL The scenes between the two main characters is sizzling and hot and the story just flows so well that I was lost and didn't realize the time. When things go south, it's going to take everything in him to get back to Brea! Can he do it? Run....do not walk and get this book. As I mentioned , the book ends on a cliffhanger so be prepared. It will be well worth it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 “After one look, I wanted you. But after one kiss, I knew I’d do anything to have you.”✨
.
If you enjoy:
•Romance suspense
•Faced pace reads
•Steamy scenes
•Opposites attract
•Dual POV
Then this may be the book for you!✨
.
This book was a faced paced easy read. Full of action, drama and steamy scenes. I wouldn’t call it love at first sight, but definitely a lust at first sight storyline. Pierce ‘One-Mile’ is ex military, a sniper. And has quite the reputation. But when he sets his eyes on Brea, he stops at nothing to find out all that is her. Brea is sweet and innocent. Caring and dependable. The preachers daughter. But even she can’t deny the chemistry between them.✨
.
But there’s more than chemistry between them- there’s also Cutter. Brea’s bestfriend and One-Miles teammate. And let me tell you, he got on my last nerve. I was ready to throw my kindle. Him and the story being fast paced made it a bit hard for me to connect at first, but I did end up feeling more connected as it progressed. And it ends with a cliffhanger that I’m incredibly curious to follow up on!It should be noted I’ve been reading emotional stories lately so this could the connection issue for me!! Book hangovers are real! If you looking for some action, in a quick paced, steamy romance check this one out!✨

I've been waiting to read this series. We have met Brea and Pierce shortly in previous series. I'm so thankful for Shayla for giving us their love story. You will not be able to put this book down.

Pierce has not known love. He had a troubled childhood. He has learn to go for what he wanted and not let anything stop him. From the moment he laid eyes on Brea he knew she was his.

Pierce dropped a bomb on Brea pertaining to his father. Then he has to leave again to hopefully capture the man who held him. So Brea is left depending on Cutter and being confused.

Do NOT read this review bec my rant will have spoilers.

Chemistry? In the beginning- kinda

Things I hated:
1) The repeated over use of a stupid ass nickname the MM (Pierce/One Mile) gives the MF (Brea). In this case: ‘pretty girl’. Just. Don’t. (I can’t help but hear ‘ohhh sexy girlfriend’ from Sixteen Candles’ as I’m writing this). You know it’s one thing when it’s not over the top, kinda fits… for instance ‘In Things We Never Got Over’ the MM nicknames the MF ‘Daisy’ bec she had daisies in her hair when he met her. And he mixed it up: Daisy, Daze snd it wasn’t so constant that I wanted to vomit.

2) wasn’t a fan of the shes a ‘preachers daughter’, she’s soooo innocent, probably farts rainbows. The constant reminder of that, the internal dialogue etc etc it was too much. Kinda like what I think someone indoctrinated into a cult would be thinking?

3) not a fan of her best friend/brother/fake boyfriend Cutter. Guy is a judgmental dick. Got way tired of him. Was actually hoping he would be the mole in the organization…. Just so he would be killed off and I wouldn’t have to see another interaction with him. No such luck. Pretty sure if I check he probably has his own book- blech 🤢

4) major spoiler here and why I finally gave up and was actually mad: Brea willingly sleeps with One-Mile. Willingly. But thinks to dickhead Cutter he says One Mile raped Brea and has others thinking that as well. Now- fine. Cutter is an ass with a grudge and can’t believe Brea would do anything other then be Mother Teresa. BUT…. BUT Brea never tells him that she willingly slept with One-Mile. She tells him ‘it’s not what you think?’ Or other things along those lines. How about: He DIDNT rape me?!?! Not a wishy washy ‘it’s not what you think’ especially given that Cutter doesn’t listen???? Knowing his head is up his ass how about you make it VERY clear and concise???? AND the one person who did take the time to stop and ask…. Cutters brother Cage… believed her but apparently isn’t setting anyone straight!!!!! (Note: pretty sure that will be fixed in the second book. But you know what??? A decent person wouldn’t let that misunderstanding HAPPEN)

I’m not even going to read the second book.

I’ll try another one from this author bec she’s supposed to be good but it better be a good book to wash this crap from my mind
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Entering a Shayla Black read always means one is going to get three things in magnificent spades. Emotion, action, and expert storytelling. In "Wicked As Sin", this creator has doubled down on all three of those elements--and more. My expectations (always high with this writer) were blown out of the water with One-Mile and Brea's story, beginning with two protagonists that couldn't come from more different worlds. But none of that's important from the second they meet--an insta-attraction moment that goes beyond the typical physical chemistry faire, already setting the stage for a relationship that's going to be deeper than both of them imagine.
And there's the word that truly sets this book apart from the rest. Deeper. Ms. Black's worlds--and words--have never been for the reader who wants a surface experience. With sublime skill that's a hallmark of her work, she unravels One-Mile and Brea into the knowledge of their burgeoning love without surrendering an inch of what makes them unique, layered people.
Besides the two protagonists, there's a cast of secondary characters who are just as multifaceted and fascinating. Add some awesome cameo appearances from well-loved back list books (power to the Edgington boys!), and this wickedly wonderful book makes for an engrossing and exciting afternoon read. I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down.

Like a moth to a flame, brash and bold Pierce a/k/a One-Mile and innocent and God fearing Brea are drawn to each other like magnets. Both wanting something from the other that only Shayla Black can bring you tied up in a little package but with the intensity as a bomb exploding. From the very first page the storyline packs a punch and the emotions kick you right where it hurts the most. In true Shayla Black fashion the reader is re-introduced with characters we have hated in the past and with her perfect writing style has converted the asshole into the hero. I loved becoming reacquainted with characters from the past and so look forward to the the second book in the series. Love, Love, Love anything and everything Shayla writes. She could make the back of a cereal box become my next favorite read.

Remember that the Devil can't lie. So the tough-guy loner tells the preacher's daughter that he's going to seduce her until she begs for sex. And that's what happens. So why is everyone so upset? Why does everyone assume he's a bad guy? He says what he means and means what he says.

The core of the romantic seduction is very well done, though her insecurities, while understood, become tiresome. The sex is pretty hot, though I'm not sure she'll ever be on top (or was she?). The challenges presented to the tough guy are serious, but all for the greater good.

I was really enjoying this right up until they stepped on my biggest trope-bomb. Stepped on it and blew everything sky-high. I have no interest in reading part 2.

I've been a Shayla Black fan for quite some time now. I fell in love with her words the moment I started reading her books, so to say I was excited about this would be an understatement. I fell in love with Wicked Lovers first, it was my gateway into Shayla Black's books
Wicked Lovers has been a favorite series of mine for a while now, and Devoted to Love I started reading last year and both were incredible so have these two worlds merge is a dream come true.

I went into this with high expectations, I always do when it comes to this authors work, and of course, I was not disappointed.

Wicked As Sin is Pierce "One-Mile" Walker story and it's a story so many of us have been waiting anxiously for, and of course it is nothing less than perfect, which I expected. Ms. Black has a way with words that captivated me from the start and held me captive until the very end, if not longer than that, and with this, she has done just that!

What can I tell you about One-Mile? Well, he's an arrogant, cocky man that has his own set of rules when it comes to everything in life. He's good at what he does and he makes that known. He's not a guy you would really want to screw with, he doesn't get along with many, if any people, and he seems to like it like that.

Brea Bell is his complete opposite, she is a preacher's daughter, she is innocent, she is naive and a sweetheart. Everything that One-Mile isn't. But who can resist a bad boy? I know I can't! Something that should be forbidden to her, she wants more than anything, and she is choosing to ignore that inner voice warning her away from this man! She goes all-in with One-Mile, but what will the consequences be?

These two? It seems that Brea can bring a side out in One-Mile that no one else really sees. A softer side to his hard shell of a personality and as much as you these two could not possibly work as a couple... It seems as though they are perfect for each other. Balancing each other out, bringing out sides to them both. Together they are perfect. The chemistry was off the charts and the love is undeniable. I couldn't help but fall in love with these two. But it's not as simple as them being together. It never is...

And BOOM, Cliffhanger and what a cliffhanger it was. I am one of those people that crave cliffhangers and this author is the queen of them. She left me hanging good with Wicked as Sin, and I am eager to see what happens with these two in the second half of this story! I'm completely consumed by these two and the drama, suspense, mystery, and passion that surrounds them. It's intoxicating and addictive and I can say without a doubt that this has jumped into one of my top reads for 2020 so far, I can only imagine what part 2 will have in store for us!

The storyline flowed so well, the author's writing was flawless as always, and the development within the first chapters till the end of the book was incredible, painting an amazing picture of the story inside my head. Her touch to the finest details makes it easy to reallyl fall deep into this plot and lose myself.

Worth so much for than 5 Stars!

5 Star review of Wicked As Sin (Wicked & Devoted #1) by Shayla Black

AUDIO REVIEW:

I was a little worried about diving in to Wicked As Sin as I had not read many books in either The Wicked Lovers or Devoted Lovers series. However since this is book one in her latest Wicked & Devoted series, I decided to dive in and I needn’t have worried. This book has a lot going on and although not a particularly long book, Ms.Black certainly packed a lot in to it. Please be aware that this book ends in a cliff hanger, so you have been warned.

Wicked as Sin is a hot story about Pierce “One-Mile” Walker and Brea Bell, a woman who could not be more different that Pierce if she tried.

This was a journey of self discovery for both Pierce and Brea, particularly Brea as she fought her feelings of guilt as well as dealing with Cutter, her best friend who kept putting himself between “One Mile” and Brea. I must admit Cutter really frustrated me at times, I just wanted him to back off and let the relationship develop. I loved how all in Pierce was once he realized the feelings he had for Brea were real and the tenderness and love they showed to one another was heartwarming.

The narration by Christian Fox brought this story to life for me. His voices is easy to listen to and he did justice to the characters and the story that Shayla Black wove.

There were times that I was on the edge of my seat as the action heated up and there are some parts which were emotional and hard to read as Pierce’s job as a sniper comes in to play. All in all this was a captivating read with strong writing and characters that you cannot help but become invested in. I cannot wait for the conclusion in Wicked Ever After to Pierce and Brea’s story.
