Oxford Reading Tree Sparrows are written to offer consolidation and breadth for children who need plenty of reading practise before moving up to the next stage. Stage 3 Sparrows comprise 6 familiar Sparrows stories repackaged with fresh new covers and reset story text to match Stage 3 of the
Oxford Reading Tree New Edition. The stories are written by Roderick Hunt at the same level as other stories in Stage 3 and two of the original Stage 4 Sparrows stories have been rewritten for Stage 3. The Sparrows stories introduce different characters, families and settings to broaden children's
reading base. All stories are also coded according to the Book Bands system.

The 24pp Teaching Notes booklet, which is included in the pack of 6 stories, is the same size as the pupil books for easy classroom management. Included in the booklet are a Vocabulary Chart listing Year 1 high frequency words and context words, and a Curriculum Coverage Chart listing activities and
outcomes for England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Every story has individual notes and suggested activities for Group and Independent Reading Activities, Speaking and Listening Activities, and Writing, with each section showing the relevant NLS Objectives covered. Within each section are
prompts and suggestions for responding to the story, personal experiences, cross-curricular links, role play, and further suggestions on how to observe pupils' progress. All in a helpful and easy-to-use layout.

A really funny read! The Magic Key books always end on a high, but this one's final 'joke' is subtle enough to provide a funny talking point for an after-reading discussion. One of the standouts of this series.

Pip went to the zoo with her dad to help feed the animals. A parrot pecked her finger, the deer pushed Pip over, a monkey took Pips hat, the elephant took Pip's sweets. She didn't want to feed the crocodiles because the crocodiles might eat her.
