After the recent tragedy, The Unholy is on high alert as they deal with the increasing tensions of the mafia. Believing the latest attack to be a declaration of war, Sal attempts to strategize, aligning the pieces and players of an ever-shifting gameboard. They know who fired the shots, but who led the countdown?
The violence wasn’t just another random act of crime, but a bloody massacre armed with a message.
Welcome to your new life, Sal Raniero.
As the newest mob boss on the block, he is outraged by the assault on his turf and fiercely determined to protect his girl and his brothers. With friends and foes coming from every direction, he works the problem, analyzing the unknown variables, and inching closer to a perilous instability than ever before.
With enemies breathing down their neck, Sal and Iris suffer under the blinding glare of spotlights on their relationship. Coming clean isn’t as easy as they hoped. Confronting their families and associations, they realize everyone has an opinion on their forbidden romance and powerhouse alignment.
Feeling the pressure mounting, Sal unilaterally decides to abandon his post and take off on a cross-country adventure with the beautiful girl of his dreams. Along the way, they discover normalcy in amongst the betrayals and lies. Remembering the innocent days before they were the future of the criminal underworld, they learn the truth should never be taken for granted as they unravel the web of their years apart. He is the Dark Prince of The Mafia Commission. She is the Lotus Queen. They were never meant to fall in love.
They were raised to divide and conquer. Even each other.
Diary of a Submissive is the fourth book in a Tomb of Ashen Tears, the epic dark mafia romance. It is highly recommended readers experience the first three books: Salt Kissed Love, Famous Last Words, and Every Minute I Love You.
Just a girl who loves pushing boundaries in original, addictive noir/dark fiction with genre-busting elements from dark romance, romantic suspense, psychological thriller, mafia, MC, and realism. Intense, thought-provoking, edge-of-your-seat, gripping page-turners that stick with you long after the last sentence. TAT Books are the perfect escape with a delicious beverage, a box of chocolate, and plenty of tissues.
Dear Readers (Raniero Fangirls) have come to expect my emotionally crippling writing style.
Storyteller embracing diversity. Coffee addict. Mango lover. Blueberry fetishist. Sweet peach tea crazy. Red wine devout. Whiskey deviant. Tattooed & pierced. Bare feet. Sand. Sun. Collects rosaries. Fanatical organizer/cleaner/list-maker. Never sleeps. Hermit and recluse. Social media avoider. Sexy trucks, bad mofo alphas, hot ink, loud music, long nails, and good football. Brisket is a birthright, y’all. Being in the water is a good thing—mermaid in a former life.
I worship everyone who reads one of my books, whether they enjoy it or not, and firmly believe they should all wear a crown.
"It took three to fall in love. And three to fuck it all up."
Diary of a Submissive (A Tomb of Ashen Tears, #4), is addictive to no end. I screamed, swooned and cried...and couldn't get enough of such a delicious voluptuousness.
In that opus, the author once again reinvented the atmosphere, more intimate, where the accent is put on the emotional turmoil of my favorite trio, trinity, Sal, Iris and Deacon.
"Two men. Two loves.[...] One girl. One epic fucking Raniero versus Cruz war."
The complexity of the emotions and the justesse of Mrs Samuels' words sent me spiraling into that maddening mafia world. Jealousy, hope, rage, insecurities tangoed with competition, trust issues, business desisions. I cannot tell you how many times my heart broke, shattered, thumped, swelled or missed a beat. You name it, it's all in there.
It's not an easy story, but who would want easy when it's so good to get lost, immersed into the pages of deep, pure, raw feelings. At turns formidable and vulnerable, sometimes both at the same time, the characters learn, adapt, evolve: the connections are fluid. They fight with passion and love fiercely. And when they detonate, they hit hard and take no prisoners. The author brilliantly captured the expression of their unconventional love, in all it's splendor, shameless erotism, and sometimes ugliness.
"His symbiotic relationship between the wind and the earth is unparalleled—a sacred walk. He’s found peace and balance in the equilibrium, sculpting the mountain for my burn and building shores for her seas to strike."
I absolutely loved how Sal matured, still struggling with his lifelong addiction issues. Deacon is darker than ever, unapologetic and fierce. Iris is spreading her wings, strategizing as hard as the others players on that constantly moving board.
"Thick or thin, we’re in this—blood bath bonding—together."
Just like with the finest clockwork, the precision of the prose is impeccable, the intricacies of the cogs are splendid. Trust KRS to drop the twisted bombs at the right time...the new revelations, the clerverly woven web of deceits, alliances and threats had me grinning and yelling like the craziest woman...(but maybe I am crazy after all???). BOOM... MIND BLOWN...
I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ARC COPY OF THIS BOOK. THANK YOU!!!
I’ve long been incredibly impressed by the writings of Kailee Reese Samuels, and that admiration has only deepened through the experience of her latest offering called Diary of a Submissive. If you’re a reader of Ms. Samuels’ work, you will find yourself back in the company of Sal Raniero, Deacon, Iris, Nico, Rowan, et al. Oh my, what a story this is. It has everything: love, hate, sacrifice, duplicity, fear, joy, tension and then relief. And only a gifted author like Kailee can wrap all of these emotions into one beautiful package. Now that’s talent.
The book is a long one; it’s 104 chapters of amazement. Due to its length, I had to put it down a couple of times but I found the story constantly running through my thoughts. I couldn’t walk away from it for any real length of time. I simply had to know what was coming next. At times I was at the edge of my seat, at others I felt relief and yet at other times true angst and anger. This is what I admire about good writing. It pulls all my emotions to the surface, and I love that. I feel these characters intimately; I feel close to them as if I’m right there going through their adventures with them.
As usual the story is so well presented, the world building complete and thorough, and the characters in this: good lord, they are real and distinct. I don’t think I can recommend the writing of Kailee Reese Samuels any higher than I already have. She’s a brave author, taking the reader to places most would never think of going, but she’ll go there and you’ll gladly take her hand and follow, never regretting one second of the journey. Highly recommended.
Thank you Kailee for this ARC and letting me into your world again. Every time I read one of your books that has Sal in it I fall more in love with him. Deacon is an amazing character and loves fiercely. I liked that Iris is so protective and smart with business. Together they make a hell of a team!! Once again thank you so much !!!!
Book 4 in the TAT Series. We get 104 amazing chapters of raw brutal honesty from Sal, Deacon, and Iris. Once again KRS has left me sitting on an emotional roller coaster that I don’t want to get off! I have an addiction to all things KRS/Sal. There is nothing like it. ❤️
What can I say about our Sal? He is growing, maturing becoming so much more than any of us saw coming.
“Mafia follows me everywhere I go, baby.”
Iris is a little unhinged in this one.
“I love Iris dearly, but she’s lost her fucking marbles, flown into the cuckoo tree, and done baked her brain”
But man is she explosive in all her possession off glory!
Deacon is well... simply put His Ride.
“A master to behold and the very best submissive he’d ever had.”
I don’t know where we will go with the next book or how KRS will take it to the next level, but I have no doubt that she will Rock the Hell out of it just as she has with this one. Put it all on the page😘
Let love be. Wherever you find it. Stay outta my bedroom, and I will do the same.
Mind blown. I have so much admiration for this author’s writing. You lose all track of time and get sucked into these amazing stories with characters that you love and want to strangle all in the same breath. I’ve experienced so many emotions with Sal, Iris and Deacon (to name a few) that I don’t know how much more I can take. Just when you think you got answers more questions or what the heck moments arise. All I can say is this is a must read and be prepared to fall down a rabbit hole you may never want to come out of.
DOaS is beyond. Beyond belief. Beyond compare, beyond anything I've ever read up to now!!!! It is an epically written, beautiful, raw, emotional journey. There are parts... 60 percent of the story that are hard to read... and even harder not to. I'd try to put the book down, walk away and gather my emotions, build the fortress.... Didn't work. I'd come back and smash my own walls just to feel every single heart wrenching, soul defining moment. Like watching two airplanes full to the brim with fire works knowing they are set to collide. You want to stop, but you cant You know there will be tragedy but then, with an earth shattering bang there is beauty all around, sparks of color, explosions of sound and a feeling of joy and awe. That is DOaS. It is a daunting ride, a heart breaking, tear jerking, kindle throwing ride. And it's a ride I'll take over and over again. I've never read a tale that gripped me so forcefully and unapologetically!!!
It was 2 am and I still hadn't put this down. I found myself desperately needing to text Kailee with a wow moment. I could only hold off until 6 am where she later replied: "We're going on a journey" and I think that statement is so perfectly apt. This is an immersive and intense journey, and I'm going to gush a lot.
These are dangerous times. When things start to come together, they get blown apart. Time and again we stress out over the decisions and then are made whole by the artful repairs.
There were tears and anger, a lot of hurt and healing, and a whole lot of sexy times. I keep coming back to the journey part of what Kailee said to me. Because this has been a well-traveled road in a world that spans books, that gets more complex with each book, has intense characters who have let you become a part of their lives as a voyeur, and never fails to surprise you.
Diary of a Submissive is more than just a book, it's an experience. This is an intricately crafted world, where the cracks are starting to show, and the fear of the unknown is powerful. When you're in this world Kailee has created, the blood, sweat, and tears she's poured in are evident on every page, and you count yourself lucky that you get to be a part of that. Exceptionally well done.
Those who read the Tomb of Ashen Tears series are typically readers who are already superfans of KRS, and are heavily invested emotionally as loyal followers. Just when you think you know all there is to know about the stories behind each character, especially the main three protagonists - Sal, Deacon, and Iris - you find out quickly that you really don't.
So much is revealed in this latest book, and it stuns you from the very beginning. It's a wild ride throughout the whole book and you will experience an emotional rollercoaster. So much is revealed... and the best way to experience it is to re-read it after finishing it. You will find so many eye-opening facts about everyone and each chapter will take on a different meaning.
With each book I read this author never fails to surprise me and is such a brilliant storyteller. Kailee Samuels truly knows how to grab her readers and you will madly read to find out what happens next. This book has everything, there's heat, tears, healing, twists and turns, and my head is spinning and my mind is blown. The plot is intriguing, it's resplendently written, and the characters are real and complex. Diary of a Submissive is 104 phenomenal chapters and it's definitely a book you don't want to miss out on.
Holy darkness and wow! This was quite the read and truly the best of the books. I loved how much more I got about Sal during this intense, brutally raw and emotionally charged read. Once again Deacon and Iris were fabulous characters and the interactions between the three of them (with Iris shocking me a bit) were absolutely addictive. Not sure how one book can contain so much raw emotion and the twists and turns just kept coming.
The first three books of this series, Tomb of Ashen Tears, were mindblowing leaving me speechless. Diary of a Submissive is explosive! The first page started out with a BANG! With Kailee's stories always expect the unexpected and then some. She has a way with words like a siren to the seas. Seductive. Poetic. Her books revolve around Sal and his selected family. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. You feel the emotions of the characters as though you are there with them experiencing every situation. Questions were answered but more arose. The Unholy are working to strengthen their alliances. Lotus is leaving a path of destruction. Iris is beginning to find flaws in her and Sal's relationship. She acts on impulse. Doesn't think before she reacts. Sal is deeply in love with her knowing she is keeping secrets. Secrets that are causing chaos. Lies. Betrayal. I keep saying that her books need to be made into a movie. Diary of a Submissive is a long book, 104 chapters that you will definitely enjoy. I do recommend reading the first three books before devouring this one.
What can I say just WOW!!! What a ride it's still in my head and I think it will be there for awhile, every single emotion you have you it will be experienced in this outstanding beautifully written story. I was sucked in and consumed by these characters and words that I absolutely love and adore that demand your complete attention at all times there's just no way around it so prepare for the unexpected because sexy Sal, Iris and Deacon will own you.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Wow, what can I say! Kailee Samuels, you did it with this twisted, steamy, and suspenseful dark Mafia romance with powerful characters at play, it was thrilling and shocking—I was captivated from start to finish! I was flabbergasted with the unexpected revelation that happened, but it is jaw-dropping good! This is book 4 of the TAT series. This dark Mafia suspenseful thriller is full of emotional angst. It is riveting, dark, wicked with some forbidden lust, deceit, conflicting loyalties, and steamy sex scenes that are off-the-chart hot! You NEED to READ! It is a tangled mess of lies and secrets. Just when you think you have it all figured out, it takes a new turn making you realize just how wrong you were. Not all of its surprises are pleasant ones, but there is a certain satisfaction in experiencing a thread that is so obstinately unexpected. The author effortlessly transported me to the turbulent and violent life of the Mafia world with Lucas Salvatore (Sal) Raniero, Iris Nakamura, the Lotus Queen—beautiful, but ruthless as her beauty, and Deacon Cruz. Iris is Sal’s lover, who fights him as much as possible and does what she needs to do to get her point across. The Unholy sons are still trying to rule the world without getting caught. There is a lot of suspense with revenge and power-struggle war between the different families. Everyone seems to have an agenda—you don’t know who to trust! My mind was spinning with the possibilities! Kailee Samuels’ books are dark and dirty, but they keep the chills, twists, and surprises coming as the characters confront a dark and elusive evil. Well done Kailee Samuels! Well done indeed! The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next.
I am blown away by the latest TAT (Tomb of Ashen Tears) book!!!This Author has some incredible books, but this one is definitely her best to date. This is a BIG book, but don't be afraid, it's so worth it... Diary of a Submissive is the continuing story of Sal, Iris (The Lotus Queen) and Deacon along with some of our other favorite characters, some part of The Unholy. Blood is shed and now they need to find out where the order originated from, and how they will deal with it. This story is Intense, Raw, Brutal and Painful to read at times, there were parts that I cried, others that I could throat punch someone, even Sal and Iris, those two had me throwing things. Iris almost steals the show in this book, she seems to be on the edge of sanity, ruthless and determined to reach her goal anyway possible, she definitely earned The Lotus Queen here. I adore Deacon and hurt for him at times, he loves Sal, even Iris, but Sal is his weakness, I won't give spoilers, so you'll need to read to find out if these Three can make it and if they do, what will be the outcome. If you want dark, twisted, betrayal, love and OMG moments, then this is the series for you. I would love be the center of a Sal and Deacon sandwich, but The Lotus Queen... she would be one I would gladly kneel for, bat my blues at her and say "oh please, and thank you ma'am".
"The Storm will be here soon. I suggest you say your prayers.”
Diary Of A Submissive is hands down the best book I have read this year!!! Nothing could have prepared me for this one! It is ugly, painful and real which makes it so beautiful. This is probably the most intense book I have ever read to date. I wanted to jump through the pages and slap every single person. EVERY! SINGLE! PERSON!!!
"It’s not a lack of trust, but faith in our bond . We’re bent and broken by the ravages of time. "
Buried truths are revealed, hidden agendas are uncovered. If you think that just because Sal and Iris are finally together everything will be sunshine and roses, then you do not know these characters at all. Heartbreaking, powerful and mesmerizing, KRS left me speechless with all the unexpected turns. I shed many tears during this book. She truly broke my heart at times but it was worth every ounce of pain and I wouldn’t change a thing.
“Love me. Love me hard. Love me fierce. Love me long.”
We get to see a playful side to Sal and Iris that we haven’t seen much of before and get to experience the bond between all three. I couldn’t get enough of the holy trinity. This series gets better, deeper and steamier from book to book. I live and breathe for Sal, Iris and Deacon! I don’t think I will ever be over this book. 10 “for all eternity” stars!!
"The trinity is bound, woven and interlaced, and cutting the fibers trespasses on the ancestral graves."
Have you ever climbed up to the topmost board at the swimming pool and carefully crept to the edge? The butterflies swirl around in your stomach and the distance is intimidating. Then, gathering every iota of nerve, you jump! The fall, the plunge into the beautiful water, the gathering of your body and the glorious ascension to the glittering surface where you experience the exhilaration of success...this describes just some of my emotions when going into a book written by this exciting, experimental, intelligent author. I know I am going to love it, but she sometimes scares the bejesus out of me, in the best possible way of course! Diary of a Submissive, told from the three points of view of our favourites characters, resonates with incident, emotional overload, revelations that will leave you breathless at times, squabbles, and love, love, love. This book is a glorious, overload of Sal, Deacon and Iris and what's better than this? There's more to come 💖💖💖💖💖
If you're like me and want a good bang for your buck, this is it. Chances are, you will not finish this story in a day. It will stay on your mind though and you will look forward to continuing the journey with Sal, Iris, and Deacon. This is the fourth book in the series, so they have become like family to many of us. I have to say that I sometimes skip through the romantic escapades to get to the meat of the story. Don't get me wrong, they are definitely worth reading. It's just that sometimes I want a little less and want you to know that it will still be a great read. These stories go straight to the heart. They remind me that we are all imperfect, but most of us have good intentions and everyone has a story we don't know. That's why I keep reading books by Ms Samuels. Her characters are multi-dimensional and dirty and loveable. They've wormed their way into my heart.
Sal, Iris, Deacon. The depth of their souls encourage you to explore their journey. This book isn't about sex, deviances, tortures, crisis, sex and the multitude of sins these three have lived through. But about the Triumphs, the Passions, the Sacrifices and Horrors that the have had wrought on them. What they have had to do to survive what insane twists and turns their *families* have gifted them with. They find solace within each other's minds and bodies and find a love they will go through time and space for. A love they will war to protect, even against those who of family, blood or otherwise. Friend and Foe skate a very thin line and lives Will be lost! Trust are broken, lives betrayed. This Trio will be tested, their loves questioned. Anger, disgust, fear will all be let loose over and over again. The Triumphs and that Tragedies in this Tomb are incredible. You are compelled to invest your very soul into reading this experience! KRS is an emotionally amazing writer. Just when you think you have it all figured out, she throws you more turns than a rollercoaster ride! I love this Author and this Trio of characters. They amaze me, confuse me and delight me. They bring adventure and emotions to an other realm and enfold me until I just don't want to leave. I encourage you readers to pick up these TAT books and the rest of Sal's books. I can promise you, you won't regret it! If I could give it a higher ranking I would!!
Once again I am blown away from this incredible author and the unforgettable journey she is taking us on and even after 1,000+ pages I am left wanting so much more. DOAS is Sal, Deacon and Iris like you have never seen them before. Sal is on his way to becoming a Capo and will do whatever it takes to get the job done and protect the people he loves. Deacon knows who he is and what he wants and sometimes has to do unspeakable things all for the sake of love. And Iris, just prepare yourself for one crazy badass b*tch! She is determined to be the Lotus Queen by any means possible even if does distroy the people she loves. There are so many rollercoaster and raw emotional moments, so many wtf and why mixed with a lot of backstory of family and questions answered on what has lead them to the point of destruction. And there is definitely so much love. This journey has not been an easy one and the betrayals are endless and just who will be left standing remains to be seen. Kailee is unlike any other author I have read and that is why I am completely consumed and constantly left waiting for more!❤
Again Kailee doesn't disappoint with a stonker of a book yes it's loooonnggg 104 chapters long but......I just couldn't stop reading. Alll my favourite characters back but of course the main three Deacon, Iris and Sal again these three and the relationship they have is amazing. This book was a whirlwind of emotions throughout I laughed, cried ugly tears and of course wanted to throw my kindle up the wall a few times lol, but again Kailee knows how to write deep characters and you just get sucked in the story all the time you feel what they are feeling, and what they are going through. So much of course happens in this book with it being so big and long but trust me you never loose sight of what's going on and the flow of the story and please don't be put off by the size of this book it's amazingly written as always. I can't wait to read more of what's to come in the future.
When I read a book of Kailee's, I don't just read it, I devour it. Diary of a Submissive, book 4 in this series, was a feast for my senses. Sal Raniero is the ultimate bad boy, obsession, dom. I was drawn into this story immediately, my senses overloaded with plot twists, character's behaving badly (which was so, so, good to read), secrets revealing even more secrets. In short, this book consumed my life. And I loved every minute of it. Like her other books, the sex scenes are graphically detailed and very steamy. Of course, if you're reading book four, you are aware of this concept. If you stumbled on this review and are not familiar with this series, go back to book one. I loved the book. I love that I have another book coming to immerse me into this dark, depraved and majestic world of Sal Raniero.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is book four in the A Tomb of Ashen Tears series. I absolutely love this authors stories so when I started this my expectations was high. Well she blew my expectations out of the water. This was absolutely brilliant.
So yet again I’m sitting here and wishing I could swallow a dictionary to give this book the review it deserves but I can’t. I just can’t. So I’ll say this is an epic read. It’s a big read and I’m so glad it was. Kailee has her own unique way of telling a story and I really wish more people would read her stories. So if you enjoy dark and twisted, those stories that will mess with your head then I highly recommend you start reading this series.
Just when toy thought it wouldn't get abhor complex it does. I don't know went I expected anything less from this author. Be prepared because this is a long one but you don't even notice until you're finished. I loved seeing Iris, Deacon, Nico and course our star Sal. This book is full of love, hate, fear, tension and relief. Throw in some amazing steamy scenes and you've got one heck of a book. I honestly don't know how she's going to top this one but I have no doubts that she will.
Diary of a Submissive is a dark, twisted yet beautiful story and once again this author has left me speechless. I started to write this review yesterday right after I finished reading but I was still processing everything. This book has 104 mind blowing chapters that pulled me in and by the end I still wanted more. I definitely recommend this book and this author to everyone who loves great writing and heartbreakingly beautiful endings.
I've been waiting for this book. OMG I've had myself so worked up over it. You know how we get ourselves psyched up over something then Bam!!! its here. Well let me tell you it was insane. Loved it from beginning to end. This series has never been anything but amazing. I don't like to give any spoilers, that's cheating. LOL What I will say is get this book, read it and have your world rocked. LOVE, LOVE LOVE
OH EM GEE!! I'm not even sure how to review this book that will do it justice. It was dark, beautifully twisted and and full of suspense. This very possibility could be my favorite book I've read so far this year. This book took me on a raw emotional rollercoaster ride.....and I loved every single moment. I couldn't wait to find out how it was going to end while at the same time not wanting it to end.
What can I say !!!!! AMAZING.... wow this book is amazing. I love the storyline involving Sal, Iris and Deacon. Their story just drags you in by the hair and won't let you go. Its twists and turns will bring out every emotion that you have. This book is brilliant written by an amazing author. You must read this book and fall into their story...
She did it again!!!!! THIS is why I love Kailee. Her character development through all of her novels are simply the best. I love the dynamic between Deacon and Iris. I just have no words for how much I love their fierce love and protectiveness. I love how dark and twisted it is yet so perfect! I couldn’t put it down once I started. BRAVO Kailee....you are truly one of a kind girl!
Wow! This book is a phenomenal page-turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat begging for more. It’s mind-blowing, emotional, brutal and raw. Sal, Deacon and Iris take us on a journey deep into the depths of the emotional and business sides of the trinity. There are more changes and surprised she’d for the trinity and I can’t wait to see what rose they have in store for us.♥︎
Trust must be earned. And even then...one's own issues might get in the way. Are a couple members of the trinity childish? Maybe. Are there secrets? Hell to the yes. I was wrong about at least one person still surviving at the end, as well as being Somewhat less annoyed with them. And, as usual, not all is as it seems.
