Throughout her life, Dolly Parton has been seen as a beacon of guts, straight-talk, kindness and grit, beginning her life in poverty and growing to become one of the most resonant, prolific and long-lived icons of the modern era.
In this new book, Dolly’s personal code of conduct is transformed into practical guidance for readers who want to know how she would handle many of the real-life challenges they themselves are facing.
Calling upon Dolly’s personal examples, quotes, song titles and lyrics, and famous film scenes that were meaningful to her, as well as personal anecdotes provided by her co-stars, friends, family members, and peers, Everything I Need to Know I Learned from Dolly Parton provides insights into how to handle dozens of challenges, from managing heartbreak and succeeding at work, to raising children and responding to inequality.
Dozens of quotes, insights and full-color photos provide a glimpse into how Dolly has lived her life and how her approach can help readers overcome anything thrown at them.
Great book about Dolly, quotes, tons of pictures. Quick little feel good read. Love the hot pink and black cover. I'll be keeping it for display in my office. ❤️👑
This little book is a fine addition to any coffee table. It is filled with pictures, quotes and little insights into Dolly's colourful life. Certainly this is not something to read front to cover, but to browse every now and again as a charming pick-me-up. Plus, it looks pretty with its sturdy cover that is adorned with a little pink glitter quite befitting its object.
I love me a novel about Dolly Parton and this one though not written by her had a lot of great details in regard to her life and I enjoyed learning more about her. The details, the photographs, the quotes—I ate the whole book up from page one to the very last page. The author was able to span her life from childhood to early stardom to her acting career and even to current work that she is still accomplishing to this day. Another phenomenal Dolly Parton book for my collection!
So ok, this is not a novel, not even a “real book”. But I needed a break from some heavy reading (Shuggie Bain, Love Is A Mother). This was just the light-hearted break I needed in my reading! Dolly, an American icon! Now back to the drama…
This is so weird but so delightful! No idea who authored this book about Dolly Parton’s lyrics and lines from movies. They reached for the sky when trying to find a “lesson” to be learned. I really enjoyed the photographs and little snippets of her life. She’s certainly an American treasure.
I didn’t necessarily have high expectations for this book, but it was rather underwhelming. There was very little new information about Dolly Parton, and it didn’t feel like the author had done much research at all. Always fun to hear Dolly’s perspective on things, though!
